misog I've been having the something re: bloating. Do you find that you're almost painfully bloated by night-time?

I find Pregnacare to be the main culprit as it's much better if I forget to take it for a couple of days but I'm sure the benefits outweigh the bloat!? Confused

misog2000 · 27/03/2014 14:36

Definitely inbl00m, it is very painful at times. I haven't been able to ride my horse for a couple of weeks cause I'm just too bloated by the time I get there after work. But then I doubt the lack of exercise is helping either, it's a never ending circle!

I'm gonna try cutting out carbs at breakfast and lunch for the next couple of weeks and see if that helps at all

misog2000 · 27/03/2014 14:38

I'm not taking any vitamins other than folic acid ATM so it's not that for me, I am trying to keep my iron up with diet as iron tablets make me horribly constipated which will just make the situation worse!

Fairypants · 27/03/2014 16:41

Thanks for the recommendations to get physio or osteopath to manipulate for SPD. In all honesty, the response from the mw was so rubbish yesterday that I don't expect much from the Nhs on this score.
I have managed to book an appointment with an osteopath tomorrow after work though so I'm hoping that will so some good.

I took folic acid until 13 weeks and now have stopped. I do take vitamin d but it's just a little tablet. Is there really any evidence for taking pregnacare etc? Seems to bother a lot of people (and is expensive). I am suspicious of a marketing ploy!

I think NHS recommendations are folic acid till 13 weeks and vitamin d throughout.

weebairn · 27/03/2014 17:24

I am not bloated! But I'm sure that's just coincidental Grin

weebairn · 27/03/2014 17:25

Welcome Ella!! Sounds like you've had a very stressful first trimester - so glad all scans etc have been fine for you :)

marie1w · 27/03/2014 17:47

Had my 16 week appt with the midwife today. Was all good, even got to hear the heartbeat! Am now very confused about how pregnant I am. My dates put me at 17+1, scan puts me at 16+1, and mw puts me at 16+5, I know there's not much in it but just don't know what to say when people ask.
Re bloating...always find it worse in the evening. Definitely more comfortable since stopping pregna care a few weeks ago. Now just taking the free vitamins from mw which contain folic acid and vit c and d. Not sure if these are just local freebee in Birmingham but got them from the local children's centre.

Cindy5389 · 27/03/2014 17:50

Regarding vitamins, I'm taking Sanatogen mum to be plus omega 3. I don't seem to have as bad bloating as some of u ladies r having.. Sickness seems to b going, so hopefully around 16w seems to b the turning point. Mw appt Monday, hoping I will get to hear hb :)

lilone1234 · 27/03/2014 18:32

marie1w...The 12 week scan is called the dating scan, and the midwife at my booking appointment said that's always what they go with, so would say that is most accurate personally.

topmammy · 27/03/2014 18:50

I took the trying to conceive pregnacare vit tablets while ttc and they made me bloated and gave me diarrhoea. Quick google search revealed that pregnacare cause lots of women these sort of problems. What are they putting in them!? I'm taking Seven Seas vit tablets now and feel ok. If I can't be bothered trying to swallow that monster pill I take a folic acid and a vit D. Having some salmon every week too for omega 3.

By the end of the day I took almost 9 months gone lol my ravenous appetite not helping matters though I'm sure!

Inbl00m · 27/03/2014 19:16

topmammy that's interesting, I'll have to Google it!

misog I've read that folic acid can cause bloating too but can't remember where.

rockin and ella you'll have to let me know if you switch to anything else and if it works. I've been choking down prune juice this week and it seems to be helping a bit.

Currently looking about 6 months after tea... not going to be able to hide it for much longer! Grin

misog2000 · 27/03/2014 19:36

Just tried on the maternity trousers and skirts I ordered yesterday (love next for delivery) and they are sooooo comfy, I can't believe I have been suffering squashed into my old ones for this long
