Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

Plate wishing you well for hellish week of work - will all be over soon and great that you are getting away - well jealous! Smile
Ickle hope the spd doesn't get any worse and that you feel better.

Hi to the newcomers!

Ladies, can I ask those of you who are a bit more experienced on the baby growing front what braxton hicks feel like?? I sat down earlier and felt like there was an elastic band round my back and belly and that someone was tightening it really hard and there was kind of a 'pulsing' feeling with it for a few seconds. It didn't hurt but was quite strong and was a really strange sensation?

ZingSweetMango · 24/02/2014 18:46

ipsum

that could be it - but do check with mw.

BH feel like your whole belly goes rock hard, like a massive muscle spasm.

in later months they can last for a minute and completely stop you in your tracks & take your breath away.
but not painful as such in terms of nothing like contraction/labour pains (they are more localised to where you feel your period pains)

Has anyone's belly button popped out yet? Have just noticed today mine is decidedly flat - not an 'outie' yet but not really an 'innie' any more.

And - we're amongst friends, we can talk nipples - has anyone else felt like theirs are being twisted off with a pair of red hot pliers? Or is it just me?

Ipsumlorem · 24/02/2014 20:08

Thanks zing! Smile My belly did go hard at the front like a tight kind of feeling (im maybe not very good at describing it it was so odd!) but still not sure - it didn't last very long to be fair. No pains or anything else odd today and jellybean has definitely been moving around as usual. I've to make another midwife app tomorrow anyway so will maybe speak to her and mention it then! Love how much info this thread provides! Smile

Ipsumlorem · 24/02/2014 20:13

plate I have what could be described as the deepest belly button in the world normally - not skinny but not mega overweight either so must just be the way I'm designed! - although it isn't flat yet I can now for the first time ever see the bottom of it! Grin Also I have been using only our fluffiest towels when exiting the shower as the slightly older, 'stiffer' ones feel like a cheese grater on my poor sensitive nips atm! Blush

mummytobejuly2014 · 24/02/2014 20:33

my ribs on my right are killing me at the front, feel like they're curling in on themselves. hurts so bad, got that horrible breathless stitch again today when I was driving down the road, on my right side also (like lung is caught & hurts to breathe at the same time of a painful stitch).
"20wk" scan on Wednesday when we're 21wks so maybe say something then abt it
Welcome newbies! :)
my innie is almost level now. ate a creme egg today and baby went mental for a good half hour after lol

liquidstate · 24/02/2014 20:55

My belly button is looking crusty/dry flaky skin and not so deep so will pop out soon I think.

My ribs hurt when I cough of sneeze and have done since 16 weeks. Bizarrely after the initial nipple growth my boobs have not changed at all. Still the same cup size with a bra extender. Was waiting to see if the cups get bigger before I buy a nursing bra Confused. DH very upset as he wants my bigger boobs. I am a G cup anyhow so have no idea how big he thinks they will get Hmm.

Anyone in West Berks should not there is a Woodcote Windmill sale on the 7th March. Less crowded and shoving than the NCT I am told.

mummytobe I ate 3 creme eggs on Friday and bean did not move at all. Got good stamina evidently Grin.

NancyinCali · 24/02/2014 21:15

1 hour until my scan... hoping dd isn't too grumpy when I wake her up from her nap to go to the appointment. Watching Downton Abbey to distract me from the wait!

Belly button didn't pop last time and no sign of it happening this time either. I must have a very deep one Wink

MrsB2013 · 24/02/2014 22:00

Welcome to the newbies!!

Good news on the recent scans!

Mummy I've got pain in my ribs too on the right side and a stitch like pain on the left. I've also got really bad back ache, mainly on the right. I get out of breath going up stairs but that's probably because I'm unfit! Moan moan moan sorry!!

Did anyone go to the baby show over the weekend? Were there any good bargains?

I don't know if its a good idea but I'm going to watch OBEM on C4+1 now Hmm

AuntieMaggie · 24/02/2014 22:12

Welcome newbies :)

Belly button same I think (though I do have a layer of padding which probably helps) nipples very dry and itchy and liquid my dp is the same - I'm usually an f cup but think I"m now a g and also need a bigger back size too... I don't want to get much bigger! Have you got any maternity bras yet?

A question about buggies...is it worth getting a pram/carrycot? I'm planning on doing plenty of walking so need one thats can suit different terrain but also don't want baby hunched up in.a car seat for long periods.

AuntieMaggie · 24/02/2014 22:15

I am not going to watch OBEM as this series is filmed in my hospital!

Ipsumlorem · 24/02/2014 23:12

Made a very worried looking dh watch obem with me "for research purposes" evil cackle Grin

NancyinCali · 24/02/2014 23:24

Scan all good. Still a girl Wink No doubt about it as she had her feet up by her ears so we got a clear view.

AhoyMcCoy · 24/02/2014 23:55

I watched OBEM too! It wasn't too bad actually, thought it would be scarier than it was!

I get horrible rib pain too, so can sympathise with those suffering. It's definitely sitting upright that does it for me, at work I'm in agony by 3pm but at home as soon as I lie on the sofa, I'm fine.

Hadn't thought to start monitoring my belly button for change - I can't say I've ever paid it any attention before but will start from now! Haven't bought a single thing for baby yet, and no idea where to start when it comes to prams/slings etc tbh. Think I will re-read from the top of this thread again and steal all your useful advice!!

ZingSweetMango · 25/02/2014 03:29

my belly button is still so deep I could serve tequila shots out of it!Grin

liquid

if it's crusty/flaky use a bit if Vaseline or E45 to soften skin.

mine was like that and bulged out towards the end with DS5 & DD - I sometimes had to put a piece of cotton wool on top of a bit of cream on it, secured with micropore Confused as the rubbing against clothes made it worse.

icklekid · 25/02/2014 04:39

Still got an innie but a very hairy belly?!!! Probably just me- I wouldn't mind but it's so dark!

I know the at work in pain come home feel fine oh too well the next 6 weeks are going to drag!

So I definitely wasn't going to watch OBEM but if it's not too bad maybe I will-will I cry?

I'm going to get a carrycot for push chair- ideally one they can sleep in so don't need a moses basket down stairs and can use when away at parents for the occasional night...

NancyinCali · 25/02/2014 05:17

Just started watching OBEM and I'm crying at just the intro!!

Ipsumlorem · 25/02/2014 07:25

ickle dh said I had a hairy belly the other day! Think it amused him as I'm usually not a very hairy person (only need to shave legs once in a blue moon usually).

Plateofcrumbs · 25/02/2014 07:49

Oh god the hairiness. Buy shares in Gillette and Immac, I'm going to be keeping them in business.

AuntieMaggie · 25/02/2014 07:54

ickle thats a good idea re the carrycot!

I'm quite fair and not usually hairy (apart from a few pcos markers) and usually only have to shave once in a blue moon but I think DP is going to have to start doing my bikini line!

LaDay · 25/02/2014 12:05

Baby is ok but trying to realign my ligaments and appendix scar at the moment which explains the rather intense pain! Am now starting 48 hours of GP enforced bedrest, hotties, painkillers and frustration to try and fix things :-(

liquidstate · 25/02/2014 13:05

My bikini line is like a forest. So bad! Thanks for the tip zing will put some creme in my bellybutton now.

I bought a travel system with carry cot as will be so useful in the beginning, esp when having to travel and show off the baby to old rellies.

Had my consultant appointment this morning (am old and have thyroid problems). The consultant turned up over an hour late and had to see 3 people before me. Didn't apologise and was very rude about my SPD pain. She said it was a yummy mummy disease not seen outside of Berkshire?! Angry

So apparently my crippling pain is and inability to walk or sit for long periods is perfectly normal Hmm

On the plus side I get another scan at 36 weeks and will be induced if not had baby by 40 weeks. So it will definitely be over by early July. May even be in June (which would be nice as 1 month extra free nursery I think?).
