AntenaI is not till Feb and DH is ccoming. But mainly to meet others in same situation and to see hospital.

MTBMummy · 13/01/2014 13:08

Hi all, I hope you had a good weekend, and welcome dina

I've got 5 weeks of work left and I really just don't give a toss anymore, my twatish manager has only just decided that they're going to get cover for my role (despite me telling him since AUgust that my role is a legal requirement and I doubt saying "XYZ is on mat leave so we still have the role" would stand up in court - Prat!
So he's now asking if I'll start my mat leave later so he can arrange cover - erm sod that, I am only getting two weeks off before the birth, unless I get signed off (he's avoiding the meeting to discuss my working from home) and it takes typically 2-3 months to find cover for the role I do, does he expect me to give birth and carry on working for 6 weeks?

Argh!

Sorry needed to vent, in a bad mood as I had to stand all the way in on the train and now my hips are playing up, but I guess the good news is that my investment in tena pads is paying off as I managed to piss myself today - sob

[goes back to rocking in a corner]

MTBMummy · 13/01/2014 13:09

Oh and on the perennial massage, I won't be doing that as I'm looking like I'm going to have a sun roof baby

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2014 13:39

I've had one antenatal class so far - I'm just doing the free NHS ones.

It was about breastfeeding so it was mainly Mums but a couple of partners went.

Didn't tell me anything I didn't already know from reading books and stalking the breastfeeding board on here but felt I had to go to "show face".

The next one my DH is also coming and that one is Labour and pain relief.

Glad I didn't shell out for NCT or have to go to millions of classes as it's absolutely cringeworthy having to sit there and listen to this basic stuff and see a side profile of a boob drawn on a whiteboard and then do "group brainstorm" on the health benefits of breastfeeding. I hate that shiz.

pixiebell79 · 13/01/2014 13:41

Ah, MTB I'm so sorry - it sounds like you're having a rotten time! Think you'd be fully justified in taking a duvet day disguised as a sick day (or two) to give yourself a break...

Not planning to attend any antenatal classes, the very idea of them traumatises me, lol! I am doing a tour of the maternity ward though and putting together a birthing plan with DH that I'll talk through with the midwife, think that's prob the right level of discussion for me I.e. all I can cope with...Smile

6 weeks left at work, but big visit from funding body planned for about 5 weeks' time so no gentle downward slope to it! Fortunately I'm also on the not giving a shit bandwagon, so they'll get what they get quite frankly!

I can't wait to get to the point where my body doesn't constantly ache though. And a spa day - I really, really, really want to spend an afternoon going between the jacuzzi and the hot tub....!!!!

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2014 13:55

I took my wedding rings off at the weekend :(

Finally bit the bullet and decided they were getting a little tight and not to risk getting them stuck.

My finger feels naked now. Considered getting a cheapy ring in bigger size to wear on that finger but knowing my luck that would just end up getting stuck on my finger in a couple of weeks anyway.

MTBMummy · 13/01/2014 14:01

Yes yes to a day in a spa! Ive been wondering if I EBF will April be too early for a spa day? It'll be my sisters birthday so a perfect reason to go.

Rockchick1984 · 13/01/2014 14:04

MTB when in April and what's your due date? Bear in mind you may still be bleeding up to 6 weeks after the birth so (even ignoring the feeding side of things) that may put a dampener on your plans

MTBMummy · 13/01/2014 14:20

Rock I hadn't thought about that - I'm due the 15th or 23rd (long story incompetent midwife) and her birthday is on the 20th... it could be cutting it fine, maybe I should suggest we do a delayed treat in May when she's gotten all the partying done - she's young free, single and childless, so her birthday tends to last a few weeks

FoxMulder · 13/01/2014 15:18

I was going to ask about wedding rings. I've been taking mine on and off a bit lately just to check that I can. I wonder if I should take it off and leave it off now.

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2014 15:23

My SIL got hers stuck on and had to get them cut off at about 34 weeks - so I'm learning by her cautionary tale of leaving them on too long and decided better to be safe than sorry.

She suddenly puffed up with water retention and her poor finger looked so painful.

puggywug81 · 13/01/2014 16:31

Hope everyone is well today. 7 weeks left at work for me too, can't go quick enough! I'm not sure if I'm just being hormonal or not but my usually lovely manager seems distinctly annoyed at the fact i will be going on mat leave soon! I haven't started antenatal classes yet, I have a midwife appointment next Thursday so I will mention the classes and the scary massage to her.

rescoonetwothree · 13/01/2014 16:54

Hi all, haven't been on here in ages since leaving the fb! Just thought I'd drop in to say hope you're all doing well - not long now! Nice to see old faces and new on here ThanksThanksThanks

FrankelInFoal · 13/01/2014 17:12

I've already done one set of a Lazy Daisy classes before Christmas and enjoyed them so much I'm doing a second lot which will finish 3 weeks before I'm due. Partners don't attend the weekly classes but they run a 4 hour intensive couples workshop which we are going to in February.

I've found Lazy Daisy really good, not too hippy and very much about "what you want" rather than preaching a particular type of birth. They're also a third of the price of my local NCT classes!

I've only got 3 weeks left at work, including this week, and I can't wait! I do love my job but to be honest I feel like I've mentally checked out already and am counting down the days. TBH I'm not even able to do much as my maternity cover has started so I'm just showing her the ropes and watching how she gets on.

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2014 18:10

I've got my 31 wk appointment tomorrow - hoping my urine dip comes back squeaky clean this time and that the little one is head down - I think he/she is as I feel hiccups at the bottom and back/bum to the side or behind my belly button. I don't get many "kicks" at the top - maybe the legs are kicking towards the back?

I keep reading stories online of people who can feel distinct body parts like the heel of a foot and baby responding to touch and kicking back? I can't really feel anything from the outside (apart from the hard bit which I assume is back/bum) as my bump is rock hard. I've also never had a kick in response to a prod. If I prod, baby seems to STOP moving more than anything!

Lottie345 · 13/01/2014 20:36

This perineal massage all seems odd. I read about it in a book too and couldn't make head nor tail out of it - sounds basically like stretching your foof!
lib I've been doing yoga and aqua yoga but it's all v gentle and I miss doing a bit more - not that I have much one it seems to do anything else!

mtb I do feel your pain. Your boss is completely out of order. Mine has been v slow at getting my replacement in - they're interviewing this wk with a realistic 2.5 month run in - and my deputy is leaving in two weeks. So in a fortnight I have the job of two people to do for my final three weeks in post and after that basically there will be one person to cover three peoples jobs seven days a week 12 hours a day. It's stressing me out no end when I don't really give a shit about the place at the mo and want to buy cute outfits!
So I do feel for you!! You're right - you just have to out you put down.

Ugh to make matters worse, we're trying to get on top of a damp problem in downstaira of our house before baby is born - and I've just discovered damp patch on the nursery. Flaking freshly painted wall. Frustrated doesn't much cover it!

Sorry for the rant. Feel better for it though!

OwlinaTree · 13/01/2014 22:20

Oh, baby is wild today, won't stop wriggling. (Good)

Suddenly realising in about 8 weeks in going to have a baby to look after!!

I think I'm still in work mode, hoping to decide how to look after the baby in the week off I've got before it's born... Might be leaving it a bit late!

puggywug81 · 14/01/2014 07:09

MTB your boss sounds vile, I'm sending him bad karma in the hopes he get some painful knob rash as befits his knobhead status!

mrsmugoo · 14/01/2014 10:25

Ugh, went to John Lewis last night to order all the baby stuff and find that the Uppababy Cruz is out of stock EVERYWHERE.

Hope it's not being discontinued :(

Rockchick1984 · 14/01/2014 11:02

Mrs its in stock at pram world here they are fantastic!

Mummyk1982 · 14/01/2014 14:00

Hi everyone,
I'm off sick with a hideous cold! Thankfully I knocked the cough on the head with a little mixture my friend recommended of a teaspoon of tumeric and a teaspoon of honey mixed to a paste- it was foul but it's worked!!
Only 3 weeks left at work for me with the odd day off here and there- so excited!!
Bought a few bits on eBay on Sunday that arrived today- that cheered me up!!
And homebirth midwife phoned this morning to arrange visit in a couple of weeks to go through birth plan etc :-)

I'm v lucky, my manager phoned me at lunchtime today and told me to have tomorrow off too to try and get over this cold- so I may wash little lady's clothes tomorrow :-) x

PainAuxRaisins · 14/01/2014 14:46

I'm skipping the perineal massage this time round (along with the antenatal classes and antenatal yoga). V jealous of everyone who is finishing work in the next few weeks - I feel like I could finish tomorrow I'm so exhausted (6 more weeks to go). Belly is sticking out like someone shoved a beachball up my jumper....yet still people do not give up their seat on the bus (fuckers). On the ebay front - just got a moses basket for next to nothing so I might feel a bit more like nesting when that arrives. But I am still nowhere near preparing the hospital bag - still seems to early for me (late March EDD). Anyway, better go now and pick up the kids from school. Have a good day all, with lots of healthy kicks and wiggles.

FoxMulder · 14/01/2014 14:59

No, I'm no way near hospital bag yet either Pain. I think I'm going to need the bag between now and then for a start.

MTBMummy · 14/01/2014 16:04

Well I finally have some good news, boss has agreed to let me have 3 days a week working from home, which I'll take with both hands, working full time at home would not only drive me dippy, it's impractical too, so I'm really happy about this.

Beccadugs · 14/01/2014 16:52

Mrsmagoo, was it the whole pram or just the carry cot. If just the cot they have changed the stock number, the last two numbers are 30 not 03, I only know this after a very helpful call to their oxford street store. Even if our of stock online they should be able to order from the warehouse from in store. Let me know of you need the stock numbers for all the bits as I have them in my diary.
