No worries Smile glad to be of help

Is anyone else suffering from carpal tunnel? And have you found any ways to ease it? My fingers are really painful in the mornings and my midwife didn't really have any advice...Hmm

FrankelInFoal · 11/01/2014 14:21

Commsgirl thanks for the bra extender suggestion! it hadn't occurred to me! I've just picked up a packet of 3 from Debenhams for £4 - much cheaper than new bras! I also picked up a bump support from Mothercare - OMG it's the most comfortable thing I've ever put on!

puggywug81 · 11/01/2014 14:30

Commsgirl I've just seem your Milo on the show us your dog thread he is ADORABLE!

Rockchick1984 · 11/01/2014 18:54

Pixie I felt I was starting with carpal tunnel, midwife advised keeping hand and wrist straight. She said the easiest way is with a tubi grip wrist support, possibly also with a ruler shoved into it if still finding that you're bending your wrist, or you can buy specific wrist supports for carpal tunnel on eBay for about £10 each. I've just started being more careful about not sitting with my wrists bent and it's eased off again thankfully!

commsgirl · 11/01/2014 19:46

Frank no probs, much cheaper than buying new bras every few weeks!

Puggy thank you. He's a little love :).

liberuna · 12/01/2014 00:17

Brilliant advice on bras. Also primark for cheap bras.
I bought a whole load for very cheap while im finding what the best size for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a baby shower?

dizhin79 · 12/01/2014 01:13

I heard a carpal tunnel tip the other day holding your hands above your head in a prayer position arms outstretched, we then rotated them like you were drawing a circle on the ceiling iyswim Smile

OwlinaTree · 12/01/2014 10:33

Morning all!

Bought a soft bra from home bargains last week for the princely sum of £1.99. Great for sleeping and round the house.

What week are we supposed to be fitted for feeding bras?

mrsmugoo · 12/01/2014 12:02

My BHs are really irritating - they come when I need the loo but sometimes getting one will make me need the loo. I've read sometimes you need to drink liquid but that makes me need the loo and they come more!!

Am looking online today for post preg clothes - baggy shirts with boob accessible tops underneath. Can't wait to wear some of my old clothes again.

In mega nesting mode and have 7 weeks of work to go but couldn't give a fig about work - my mind is on baby baby baby.

mrsmugoo · 12/01/2014 12:18

Owlina - I'm going to wait until my milk comes in before I actually buy a proper nursing bra - I don't have the biggest boobies so I think I'll be ok with some nursing vest tops for a few days and then when I know what size to order I'll order a bunch from ASOS in different sizes on over night delivery.

Imeg · 12/01/2014 13:24

Just wondered whether anyone (esp those who have done this before) has any thoughts on whether baby clothes need to be washed with special washing powder or whether normal stuff is ok?
Have picked up a few bits and need to wash them.

Rockchick1984 · 12/01/2014 13:26

I just use sensitive non bio (fairy IMF on offer, supermarket own if not) and its fine for newborns.

mrsmugoo · 12/01/2014 13:27

I'm a first timer but I think baby clothes are best washed with non bio/sensitive at least for the first few months

MummyPig24 · 12/01/2014 16:50

I'm here, I made it...eventually.

liberuna · 12/01/2014 17:42

My research bio vs non-bio.

Bio contains biological enzymes that can cause, in a few cases, irritation to the skin. Babies being more sensitive are more prone. Hence, non-bio is recommended to wash with.

With regards to shop bought or given items. Again the recommendation is to give them a wash to get rid of any mites, germs etc. Before putting them on baby.

Caveat to this if you have a lot of shop items, until you know size of baby you might want to wait before opening everything so you can return them.

Lottie345 · 12/01/2014 19:30

owlina at our antenatal class they said def don't buy nursing bra before 36 wk. they said then it was best to get resized again two weeks after birth when your milk has come in. Thanks for all the tips on cheapo nursing/ sleep bras.

pixiebell79 · 12/01/2014 20:00

Thanks for the tips on carpal tunnel relief, will have to give those a try!

Going to have to get bras myself, getting crazy tight about my rib cage. They've just opened a Bravissimo near me (love them for that!) so will ask them later this week to see what they say and let you know. They've always given me good advice before.

Yes, I was always told to wash in non bio because babies are sensitive to the bio enzymes...

Hope everyone has at least had relaxing weekends x

liberuna · 12/01/2014 22:03

Blush sorry for tmi question ladies but. ...

Is anyone doing the perineal massage? I've no idea if I'm doing it right.

dizhin79 · 12/01/2014 22:58

learning the technique next week at daisy class, I imagine there'll be loads of info on Google, tho may get a few dodgy suggestions too!

FrankelInFoal · 13/01/2014 06:43

We've been doing a perineal stretch at my Lazy Daisy class. It's quite simple and involves no massage Wink

Get on all fours and move one foot up next to your hand (ie right foot to right hand or left foot to left hand) - you'll probably need to take your hands off the floor to get your foot up there!

Then gently rock yourself backwards and forwards, you'll feel the stretch in your thighs.

After about 4 or 5 rocks replace your foot and swap to the other leg and repeat.

FoxMulder · 13/01/2014 09:05

Hmm, we did that move in yoga Frankel but she didn't mention it was for the benefit of one's perineum. I read a bit about perennial massage in a book and the description was way more involved then I ever wished to hear.

I'm with you all who don't give a shit about work anymore. Although, now I think about it, I'm not sure that's an entirely new feeling. I so want to be done with it so I can have some time to do all this exercising/healthy eating/disturbing massages/tidying/decorating/shopping/reading I'd rather be doing. But 7 more weeks to go...

mrsmugoo · 13/01/2014 10:26

My SIL just gave birth and literally the first thing she said to me was "DO THE PERENNIAL MASSAGE"

liberuna · 13/01/2014 10:45

Oooh thanks frankel I'll give that a go when I get home.

I've got my first yoga class on Wednesday. Haven't been doing aaany exercise. So we'll see how out of breath I get. Is anyone else being active?

commsgirl · 13/01/2014 11:06

I've not even thought about perenial massage but sounds like I need to!

Lib I've been walking as much as possible and doing some yoga at home. I'm itching to get back to the gym now though! You'll feel lovely after yoga :)

I'm with the rest of you on the work thing. Only six weeks to go but my brain is too occupied with baby planning to fit much work in!

First antenatal class on Weds. How's everyone finding theirs? Are your DPs going with you?

MummyPig24 · 13/01/2014 11:13

Hmm I've never done perenial massage before and haven't ever torn so I don't know about doing it this time :-s
