OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
commsgirl · 08/03/2014 18:00

I'm weighing up whether the indigestion is worth it!

FrankelInFoal · 08/03/2014 18:07

Yup, another one with baboon bits here too! I daren't look but they feel swollen.

More bouncing on my ball and walking for me today (40+4 sigh), midwife is booked for Monday (only spot they had left all week Hmm) but I've yet to decide if I'm going to have a sweep.

Mummytobe2014 · 08/03/2014 18:33

Still nothing here Sad went into town for walk despite crippling spd amd have only caused more pains aroundmy pelvis so nothing achieved. I am due Monday so there is still hope but i have mw appt wed when she said she will book me a sweep at my local hospital, im a bit scared of having a sweep but not sure why!?
Am out for dinner tonight but sadly there is no curry on the menu but have told dp sex might be Grin

Imeg · 08/03/2014 19:30

Similar here Mummytobe: went for a walk round the shops, felt ok at the time but now really bad hip pain, which I have had from time to time before but never quite so frequent. I'm hoping it means the baby has shifted downwards but I suspect that's wishful thinking!

40+5 now... The midwife is coming to see me on Monday (41 weeks) and says she can do a sweep then if I want (at home). I have been looking into it a little and it seems the level of discomfort varies a lot, some people say it's not that uncomfortable (similar to a smear) and other people say they found it quite painful. Perhaps it depends how tense you are or whether the membranes are already starting to separate. Although the evidence for it inducing labour doesn't seem completely certain I couldn't find any suggestion that there is any risk attached to it so I will probably go for it just in case it helps. I feel a bit odd about her doing it at home somehow but it will be much more convenient - I certainly can't get myself to the hospital.

Mummytobe2014 · 09/03/2014 08:49

Hi imeg, i will keep my fingers crossed for you! Hope ur hip pain doesnt cause you too much grief today.
I think its the discomfort i am willing to try having a sweep to see what happens but maybe i am feeling anxious about the discomfort!? I cant put my finger on it tbh but then i have never liked smears either, i think its more the thought of it as afterwards i always think well that wasnt too bad. I would prefer not to have it at hospital though i think, at home i thinkni wld feel more comfortable but it wasnt an option for me. Lets hope it gets things movingfor you as you must be feeling a bit "urgh" being a week over due Sad my due date is tomorrow so i shouldnt moan just yet. Hoping a miracle will happen ovet night lol. Be good to have a live labour thread l though leta hope it happens for someone today xx

mrsmugoo · 09/03/2014 10:07

Sending out contractiony vibes to all the fully baked mums to be today! Would be a beautiful sunny spring day to bring a new life into the world!

3 days to go til my section - massive house clean and supermarket shop on the agenda for today and tomorrow.

Mummytobe2014 · 09/03/2014 10:17

Its a fab day to have babies, goodluck for ur section mrsmugoo. :-)
Come on little ones come out and enjoy the sun :-)

Flumpinblues · 09/03/2014 11:24

Joining MrsM on countdown and clean here - although tbh I am feeling tired and lazy!!

What time are you going to hospital MrsM? I have to be in at 7:30am in Wednesday - hoping to be 1st on the list. Are you all packed? I bought arnica and peppering capsules on your recommendation so thank you. Just noticed Wednesdays date too - 12-03-14 - has quite a nice ring to it as far as birthdays go don't you think?

A lovely sunny day too - might have to sit in the garden and do nothing for a while :o)

Flumpinblues · 09/03/2014 11:25

Peppering?? Peppermint

mrsmugoo · 09/03/2014 12:00

7am for me Flump, not looking forward to being nil by mouth so I hope I don't get delayed too much.

So very very excited it's like Christmas but better!

Fender1 · 09/03/2014 14:36

Hope everyone is enjoying this random day of warm sunshine :-)
No EDD baby for me, but happy to sit in sun and enjoy moments like these.

commsgirl · 09/03/2014 16:36

I had 4 hours of 20 mins apart 'contractions' this morning and then nothing. I'm still only 39+2 so can't complain really but it was pretty disheartening! We've been on a long walk in the sunshine but it's my birthday tomorrow so don't really fancy spending it in labour!

mrsmugoo · 09/03/2014 20:21

Sounds promising commsgirl - your body is ramping up!

DitaVonCreamTeas · 09/03/2014 20:25

Gorgeous sunny spring day, had the in-laws over and MiL brought a pineapple to go with the pud, might eat the whole thing while DH wallows in the bath then deny all knowledge of their ever being a ripe pineapple in the kitchen. Grin

learnasyougo · 10/03/2014 07:38

as I'm on my 2nd pregnancy I can confirm the baboon bits are temporary.

regarding sweeps, the one I had last time (18 months ago with ds) wasn't painful, though I have a tilted cervix that points the wrong way so the midwife had to rummage and I had to put my fists under my buttocks to allow better accessBlush . uncomfortable but not painful. you can ask for had and air of you think it might be (if smear tests hurt, for example)
I think the stats are that sweeps are 60% effective within 24 hours. it worked for me within 20hrs.
I've heard good things about acupuncture, too.

TotalShock · 10/03/2014 09:10

How are you doing comms??

FitzgeraldProtagonist · 10/03/2014 09:10

40+2. Curry, pineapple, sex, RLT, EPO. Walked, stairs. Nothing. All starts off, then stops. Three times. Sweep Fri. Seems like a lifetime away. Good lick all.

FitzgeraldProtagonist · 10/03/2014 09:11

Haha luck!

FrankelInFoal · 10/03/2014 10:42

Well the sunshine worked for me Grin

Our little girl Elizabeth Alice arrived at 0040 this morning weighing 8lb15oz. First contraction at 2pm, arrived at the hospital at 6pm to be told I was 4cm already! Had a few minor hiccups - meconium in waters and baby insisting on not rotating to deliver her shoulders (Hmm) but managed to push her out just using gas and air - god only knows how!

Got a small second degree tear needing stitches and we need to stay in hospital for 48 hours as they've given Elizabeth antibiotics for a high temperature. Otherwise she is utterly perfect Grin

DitaVonCreamTeas · 10/03/2014 11:00

FrankelInFoal congratulations! Flowers Fantastic news, yay! Best wishes to you and Elizabeth. Smile

Mummytobe2014 · 10/03/2014 11:03

commsgirl · 10/03/2014 11:12

Nothing to report here. I've got a constant dull/heavy period-type ache but nothing exciting!

Beautiful weather, hope everyone has lovely days

liberuna · 10/03/2014 12:21

Happy birthday comms !

Congratulations frank welcome Elizabeth

What's everyone got planned this week?

I'm about to pop out to lunch along the river. Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather

Fender1 · 10/03/2014 12:51

Awwww I just KNEW someone would have a lovely birthday yesterday. Congratulations Frankel and welcome to the world little Elizabeth :-)
Happy birthday comms, hope you can enjoy it without too much discomfort.

I'm officially 'over' now which at least means the not long to go comments have ceased, and I'm not really in any labour-esque discomfort - apart from the constant ache in my fanny area.
Lunch by the river sounds perfect Liber, I'm probably gonna do something similar and take my DD to the park to see the ducks, just need to summon the energy... Cleaning MTB? Sod that and get in the garden Grin

Mummyk1982 · 10/03/2014 12:59

Hello! Have been stalking but not posted for a fair few weeks! Am due a week on Wednesday- hoping she comes before then! Have had occasional back ache and sharp pains down below over the last week but nothing has materialised.
She's mega fidgety today though!!! I'm wondering if she's getting herself in position for labour :-) she's always Ben head down, but she's rearranging her feet a lot towards my left side and back today- and she's really going at it!
Just started evening primrose oil yesterday (only orally), have been drinking raspberry leaf off and on, walking everyday, bouncing on ball when I haven't work myself out from walking, going up stairs sideways and have booked a reflexologist to come over on Wednesday. Hopefully it'll be soon!

How's everyone holding up? I'm mixed emotions about losing my bump, but can't wait to meet her!
Am looking forward to being able to wear a slightly extended wardrobe than the few items that fit! And I can't wait for a glass of wine :-)
Not too worried about impending labour- just slightly anxious of tearing and needing to be stitched up.
