Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Feeling knackered! DH is doing night shifts just now & I don't like it being in the house by myself. Dd started screeching at 3am for some reason so I took her into bed and spent the rest of the night snugged up with my girl . Have just managed to grab 40 winks while she had her nap. Am having nausea interspersed by overwhelming hunger!

Good that everyone is fine despite the ealry pregnancy woes !

mammyjo · 15/08/2006 14:50

Hi joshiesmumma! My ds got strep after he was born but I had no treatment for it in labour even though it turned out a swab I had had taken weeks earlier was positive. For some reason no-one had thought to tell me or do anything about it . As a result my ds was really poorly and in special care for 11 days having antibiotics . Scares the living daylights out of me that it could happen again but at least this time I will be demanding treatment!
Glad everyone is doing ok. My sickness is definitely not so bad at the moment, still munching on my army and navy sweeties. Definitely agree with the feeling of up one minute and down the next. Had a rubbish day on Sunday but better since.

Oh thanks for that wise advice - about it not making any difference to the outcome, muminamini. He doesn't like surprises though, so I am just dreading the initial reaction!

And I love my boyfriend very much, so things will be fine in the end. It does make some things easier to live a certain lifestyle - but honestly - nothing at all could compete with having your loved one at home with you most nights.

He owns a hedgefund in NYC and London. I am a photographer and artist...so I tell him if we were living a few hundred years ago, my skills would be worth more than his! GMary

EllieK · 15/08/2006 20:28

gmary, muminamini is right, is really doesn't matter what he thinks so long as you are happy with your decision. last time round (ds is almost 3) my ex didn't want to know and was really nasty to me, but i now have a gorgeous son who is very much loved by myself and my ex. this time i have a partner who wants this very much and is driving me mad with his fussing!
can't win either way!

muminamini · 15/08/2006 20:39

Hi Gmary - Ellie K has hit the nail on the head as well, when your pregnant the grass is always greener on the other side!!

I fell asleep on the sofa with my ds today at 12.30 just as I was about to make our lunch and we both didn't wake up till 3.10!!!

I felt really dreadful - and I never let him sleep that long inthe day - needless to say that bedtime at 7pm has been fun and games tonight!!

Getting the odd niggly twinge in the lower abdominal region - I am too terrified that something is going to go wrong to enjoy this so far - does anyone else feel like that?

I jut wish you couls fast forward the very early days - your so tired and worried and it's hard for people to understand how you feel as you have no big bump to show them that you are pregnant - I personally just wish I could be one of these people that is suddenly taken ill and when they get to hospital are told that they are about 14 weeks pregnant!!
No such luck!

gmary · 15/08/2006 21:49

Wow. It's actually nice to hear SOMEONE else has been through a pregnancy where they were unmarried and feared losing the boyfriend over it! (that's terrible but since there's a happy ending and EllieK even has a new boyfriend after having a baby - I find it enormously consoling) mmmmmm

EllieK · 15/08/2006 23:20

yes, there is life after becoming a single mum! as i was only 21 at the time i was dreading it. you're right tho, it has all worked out ok in the end x
now just have to try to get as excited 2nd time round, dp is driving me nuts, last night he realised we're 6 weeks now and insisted on looking up the page for 6 weeks on huggies! told him i knew i felt yuck and i didn't need to read about it!

gmary · 16/08/2006 00:34

ha! that's really cute and funny.

...and now he can feel like you're a textbook case of 6 weeks pregnant.

doobydoo · 16/08/2006 09:56

Morning all.Hope everyone is feeling ok.Today i feel sick but have energy,so that's ok.Dp called away overnight and ds going to play with afriend so shall potter.
Hope you are ok gmary and not feeling too anxious today.
Have a good day everyone

twinkle183 · 16/08/2006 10:31

Hi gmary,

I don't know whether my story will help!!! When I got pregnant with my first (whos now 2.5), I told my boyfriend and he said that didn't want to know... he told me that I wasn't to have it and booked me in for my abortion!!!

So... things got nasty and I spend from 3 months pregnant to when he was 8 months old a single mum!! Luckily at that point a met a really nice man (who is now my husband) who took on my son as his own!! We are now excepting our 1st together!

Unfortunately my son doesn't have any contact with his father and hasn't since he was 7.5 months old!!! I would say there is definately life after being a single mum!! Its not easy while your there but I was one of the lucky ones - that was greeted with light at the end of the tunnel!! Please don't be scared about telling him you have lots of support here!!

Hope everyone is okay!!! Still sore boobs... apart from that am really well!!!

Take care everyone

bubblez · 16/08/2006 10:38

Morning everyone,

Twinkle/doobydoo glad to hear you both are well today.

Gmary don't worry about telling your dp I'm sure he'll be fine about it and if he isn't then you will have the support and empathy of all here.

Oh god where to start without sounding like a sad case. I don't even know if I should post this here or just start another thread anonymously...

twinkle183 · 16/08/2006 12:48

Why whats wrong bubblez? Is everything okay?

mammyjo · 16/08/2006 13:35

Morning everyone. Are you ok bubblez? Feeling sick and rubbish today. Got my preggie pops through the post this morning. Not overly impressed so far. To be honest my army and navy sweets are doing a better job! Will persevere as you never know!! They are not cheap either, suppose I was hoping for a miracle!

Bubblez..what's up?

Greengirlforever · 16/08/2006 14:59

Hello to all from me! I am very cagey about posting on an antenatal thread this time around but I have been lurking for days and really want to join in! I was on the Oct 06 thread with Twinkle126 (hi Twinkle and good luck to us both this time!) under another name and had my first ever mc. This time around I have told NO ONE except DH. I even thought hard about not telling him! But you guys are just what is needed at this first tentative 3 months so here I am!

BTW I have started a stats thread. I am VERY OLD - so to see how old get onto that thread and put down your stats! Can someone create a link from it to this thread? Best of luck to absolutely all of us here. xxx

doobydoo · 16/08/2006 15:08

Welcome GreengirlI hope it all goes well for you.It is rather nerve wracking isn't it?and there seems to be such a long way to go!
I have added my stats but cannot do links.I would imagine that someone who can will be along shortly
Look forward to exchanging aches, pains, cravings etc over the next 9 months or so!

Enthusia · 16/08/2006 15:22

Hope this works

stats here

sallycinnamon · 16/08/2006 16:04

That's great news greengirl! The magic 12 weeks hurdle seems so long away doesn't it.

bobblehead · 16/08/2006 17:38

Anyone else feel like they are constantly eating? I feel sick with hunger, so eat, eat, eat, then feel bloated and sick again then half an hour later am so hungry I could eat my arm, yet nothing appeals to me! Feel like I'm living off grapes, crackers, specialK and pita bread this week.

Really can't wait for that 12 week hurdle and I really want a bump! (not caused by all the food though)

doobydoo · 16/08/2006 18:08

Totally agree bobbleheadI want to be able to let it all hang out..but if i do it too soon people will think i have the gestation period of an elephant!

Bugmum · 16/08/2006 20:27

Hi everyone,
I'm really antsy about joining an antenatal thread so early on as well, but what the hell. I have just yesterday got my BFP, due I think 26th April 07 (everything crossed), so that makes me around 4 weeks. Only my DP and my BF know, as it is far too early to tell anyone else. I really hope I can keep the secret until 12 weeks, but I am a proper Big Mouth, so who knows.

Not sick (yet), wasn't at all with DS, so hoping for the same luck - though I realize each pregnancy is different. Sore and swollen boobs, bloated stomach and yes, the scary cramps.

I look forward to chatting to you all

zazas · 16/08/2006 20:50

It has been the best thing knowing that others get those crampy pains at the start! Mine seem to have settled down at nearly 6 weeks which makes me stop feeling quite so panicky. Now the MS is making it self known!

Welcome Bugmum & greengirlforever. Wishing us all a good pregnancy.

Bugmum · 16/08/2006 21:03

I don't know whether I had the cramps with DS, as I wasn't looking for AF or pregnancy signs and only suspected I might be PG at gone 6 weeks, when I didn't fancy a glass of wine!

I agree, reading about all the other MN's cramps makes mine just a tad less terrifying...

And I also echo, here's hoping we all get there and have a good journey too x

EllieK · 16/08/2006 22:54

aaargh! what a day. i have a huge underwear obsession, loads of matching sets, no really, drawers full of the stuff, but in 1 week i have gone from 34b to 34dd. last time i was pg i loved it cos i was on my own and it made going out so much more fun, this time i'm hating it cos i have dp wanting to touch all the time. he thinks they're fab, i just want my gorgeous underwear back!

Greengirlforever · 16/08/2006 23:48

Just realised it was Twinkle183, not 126(where did I get that from?) that was on with me last time as well - sorry Twinkle! Also "glad" about the cramps thing - have been feeling very achey on and off. Boobs are beginning to get considerably sorer (more sore??) but that's about it. I had a vile headache with nausea all day yesterday but I don't think that was connected. Normally I don't get ms so so far so good...

I'm off to a festival with DS1 tomorrow to indulge my mid-life crisis (booked before my news - very inconvenient not being able to drink like a fish.....). I will be back on Mon or Tues so all be good now!
