Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Hi everyone, feeling much better today. Just had a really down day yesterday for no apparent reason.
Have discovered army and navy sweets. Does anyone remember them, they are hard boiled sweets that are black and taste of aniseed. Anyway, they are working wonders for my nausea. Dont know whether its the strong taste or what but I definitely dont feel so sick since eating a couple this morning. The only down side to eating them is my tongue going black and maybe having no teeth left by the time the baby arrives!!

Know what you mean about the nausea and hunger thing MIAM! I feel really sick but keep thinking about what I can eat, which makes the sickness much worse but I really just want to eat constantly! Unfortunately yesterday it was cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies I will end up huge if I'm not careful so it was porridge for brekkie for me this morning.

I am also sleeping badly and peeing all the time and still burping loudly all the time too

sallycinnamon · 14/08/2006 14:25

I feel really strange this afternoon. Like I can't cope and don't know what I'm doing. I'm trying to tidy the house but can't get anything done, I'm going round in circles. A wave of emotion hit me and I started crying. I feel so disorientated and light headed.

liath · 14/08/2006 14:33

Same here, Sally - one minute I feel fine, lots of energy & really positive - then I'll just feel like I can't get anything done and just want to curl up and cry. Dd is at nursery & I sould be doing the housework yet here I am on MN....You're not alone!

Funny thing is I don't remember feeling like this last time but DH ASSURES me that I was! Must have blanked it out {grin].

sallycinnamon · 14/08/2006 16:13

Its good knowing others are feeling the same! I took dd for a wonder round town and now I feel a lot happier. Don't know what came over me!

zazas · 14/08/2006 16:49

It is so reassuring to hear others feel the same way - had a crap day and my emotions seem all over the place - like you said it is as if you just feel you can't cope! Things are a bit stressful at work especially as I am about to go on holiday and I just don't have the mental energy to really deal with it! Still nothing like a hug from dd and ds to put things in perspective

bobblehead · 14/08/2006 17:05

Really relieved to hear other people feeling this way too. Past week I've been feeling like everyday is a struggle with dd and I'm just a crap mum. Stuff that never seemed an issue before now seems a huge deal, like the fact she won't drink milk from a sippy cup and needs a bottle to fall asleep. She is only 14m so still a baby!!!!! I have moments of rationality then blow everything out of proportion again but didn't really conect it to hormones until now. Feel alot better its not just me

doobydoo · 14/08/2006 17:11

It is such a relief to read that others are up and down.Today i haven't felt very sick and have had loads of energy.I even cleaned the sides of the toaster..they are all shiny! What concerns me is that i have never even thought of cleaning the sides of any toaster i have ever had..it has never even entered my head that they need cleaning.Tomorrow i will prob be feeling knackered and worried again...what a rollercoaster already

babycakes26 · 14/08/2006 18:02

Hi everyone - hormonal hell!!! It really does make you feel better to know that you are not alone in the ups and downs - I was beginning to think that I was losing the plot!!! I def find it worse if I have had a stressful day at work - it's weird suddenly even the trivial things that wouldn't have bothered me before seem to be blown out of all proportion. At least the feeling to kill my DH has subsided...for now
However if one more of my nearest and dearest tells me to stop worrying (mainly as I had a mc last time I was PG) I may not be able to refrain from grabbing the kitchen knife! Anyone else in the same boat?

oooggs · 14/08/2006 18:13

So much has happened since I was last on. A big welcome to you all.

Well the sickness is getting worse, it is 24/7 - when I wake in the night for a wee I am feeling sick. Poor DS, I am struggling to look after him.

Hope everyone else is well and I must come on here more regular so I can get more personal

Take Care xx

babycakes26 · 14/08/2006 18:17

Hi oooggs good to hear from you - 24/7 sounds awful you poor thing - hope it eases for you a bit soon..how many weeks are you now?

muminamini · 14/08/2006 20:12

Sorry to hear people are feeling up and down...don't think my hormoneshave quite kicked in yet what with me being so early on.

it's awful I feel like I can't be pregnant because it is such ealry days but then I keep thinking it is these early days when you do the most growing and changing I suppose so no wonder we are all over the place.

I couldn't think about anything else at work today apart from being pregnant...I remember feeling the same last time - it seemed to take days before I felt 'normal" if ever I was that in the first place.

Someone has abducted my husband.....
I got home from work and....wait for it......drum roll please......

  1. Living room was dusted and tidy
  2. DS was bathed and ready for bed (and fed)
  3. Tea was made and in the oven .....but the icing on the cake
  4. He'd done ironing!!!

I nearly fainted with shock....wonder how long it will last?!
Bless him - he's gone all nice and looking after me....makes me mad tho that he would never do any of it normally....

Anyone elses partner/dh been like this since they found out?

joshiesmumma · 14/08/2006 20:41

Hi mammyjo, I'm a newbie to MN! I have also just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant with my second baby wich i think is due 17/04/07! My son is 2.5 and I also had group B Strep! It totally shattered my dream of a drug free home birth as I had to have the antibiotics during labour, was yous diagnosed before the birth? It's a scary thing isn't it?

congrats to all you mums to be out there!!!

gmary · 14/08/2006 21:19

Gosh Muminamini,

You are SO lucky to have your man there for you that way! I am living in one of my boyfriend's many homes around the world (he is based in new york where we met 5 years ago - where i lived until i moved to london v recently) and so I have a maid in each day instead. Not the same thing!

I really wish my boyfriend a 'normal' guy who didn't own a jet and didn't spend most of his time away for work. I still haven't told/seen him after 5 weeks, and he shalln't be returning for 3 more!

I can't sleep for worry he'll get angry - as this was not at all planned. But I feel excited and happy and I don't want to be forced to have an abortion, just because he is worried about his reputation or something.

GMary

doobydoo · 14/08/2006 22:09

gmary..please correct me if i am wrong but i thought you said you were in Australia before you moved to London and were living at the Met.Excuse me for being so pedantic.Hope all works out for you.
This evening ladies i feel v.tired and sick after my cleaning frenzy today.
Goodnight all..here's to a good nights sleep and a ood day tomorrow.

gmary · 14/08/2006 22:13

Yes! I am Australian born. I visited my family inbetween.

WestCountryLass · 14/08/2006 22:13

I went to Devon last week and mid-week (at 6.5 weeks) I was suddenly hit by the nausea Much more sicky feeling than have felt in previous pregnancies and sooooooooooo tired.. If I sit down after lunch I am liable to nod off! The other day I woke up and the kids had fallen asleep on me , which is obviously preferable to them getting up to mischief but still!!!!!

gmary · 14/08/2006 22:32

oh i re-read yours Doobydo and i forgot to add that The Met has a tunnel from it's main building that goes down under Hertford St to apartments. my boyfriend has 4 older kids and so he needs room for when he has them. gmary

muminamini · 15/08/2006 08:54

Hi Gmary

wow - a maid....that sounds very good! However I can understand you must be really missing your partner at this time, it's tough going through it with DH here so can only imagine it must be hard for you - at least you have us here to keep you company.

I am sure your partner will be ok - it may be a shock but give him a bit to get used to the idea and I'm sure things will work out ok for you. Try not to worry as it really doesn't make any difference to the final outcome. I am a firm beleiver in..what will be will be...I really don't mean that to sound flippant so I hope it doesn't come across that way.

I am very lucky that my DH is so supportive, this is something we have planned and discussed so my situation is different. It's so funny but why do we always feel the grass is always greener on the other side....I bet some of us would like the idea of a jet setting partner with homes around the world...I'll be lucky if we end up with a Caravan in Clacton [GRIN]

What does he do? It sounds very exciting (especially as my husband is a very boring Quantity Surveyor!!)

Hi to WestCountry Lass as well - welcome aboard.

I've got DH to move our PC on to the dining table as it was on a small table before and I had to hunch down to type on the keyboard - can't be having that now I have a bun in the oven - it's so much more comfy.

DS has been shouting at me to 'put rabbits on!' for the past 10 mins - he is obsessed with 'Wallace and Gromit - Curse Of The Were Rabbit' at the moment - I'm so glad - it is a welcome change from Thomas the Tank Engine.

Has anyone else got really bad wind? I don't know whether the pain I have had is cramps or wind but I am really windy at the moment...I know that your digestive system is all to pot as everything is moving and changing in there but honestly - I've never known anything like it!!!

doobydoo · 15/08/2006 10:27

Hi gmary..i know i came across all suspiciousI had a dream last night where dp was having an affair with 2 women..one in the uk and one over here..and both were pregnant!I hope this passes..dp just roared with laughter when i told him.
It is hard when partners are away and prob harder for you as he does not know yet so you are understandably feeling nervous.I t's a pity you haven't got a friend or relative that could stay with you for a while.
Muminamini..i had such awful heartburn a few days ago i thought it was something really wrong the pain was round my back as well.I haven't had it since.I hope it eases off for you.
Hope everyone is feeling ok today

Bramshott · 15/08/2006 10:46

Blimey everyone has been busy posting since I was last on. Congrats to everyone who's new on here.

I went to the doctors on Thursday so I am booked in with the midwife and awaiting hospital appointments. Also feeling resoundingly sick now - I don't remember this being nearly so bad last time! DD is 3.7 and wierdly, already seems to know about the baby, despite us not telling her anything! She keeps saying things like "my baby sister, who's in your tummy" . . .

After a stern talking to at the weekend that comments like "surely you're not feeling tired already, you're only 6 weeks", my DH is being lovely, and yesterday arrived home bearing a bunch of bananas in the hope that they'd make me feel better.

I know what you mean about the hormones - I feel, for want of a better word "vulnerable" - just not quite as indestructible as usual, and like I need more support and propping up. My mum was down yesterday looking after DD while I was working, and I felt so sad when she had to go!

twinkle183 · 15/08/2006 11:20

Congrats to all the newcomers!!!

Am starting to feel extremly sick where dairy food is concerned!!! I can't go near cheese or yoghurt or anything like that!

However, I have a craving for cake mix which I know I can't have because of the raw egg but I want it so much its all I think about!!!!

Is anyone else craving stuff that your not allowed! My boobs seem to have swelled to the size of melons...

Sorry to moan but my husband thinks my boobs are great where as I feel they are starting to get in the way!!!

Has any one had any appointments through yet?

Twinkle

muminamini · 15/08/2006 12:54

Eating like a Horse today!!!

God has anyone had RoloCookies from Morrisons - they are fabaroonie!!

Didn't feel too bad this morning at all and I got thru yesterday ok and AF never arrived so I feel quite good (hope I haven't jinxed now!)

Hope everyone is having a good day
x

hensden · 15/08/2006 13:21

Hello everyone, yet another newbie for you. I'm due 8th April (fingers crossed). Not feeling too bad as yet, had HG with my DD and DS, maybe i'm going to be lucky this time???

sallycinnamon · 15/08/2006 13:27

Congrats to all the newcomers!
Upon hearing our good news dh (after saying how thrilled he was etc) said so does this mean another 9 months of you eating your body weight in Mars Bars and passing it off as a craving! How cheeky
