Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Hi muminamini, Hope the scan went well.
I think that MS is something to do with blood sugar levels - that's what my DR told me last time I was PG.
She said that having a cup of tea/coffee and something to eat in bed before you get up, brings the blood sugars up, so that you don't feel so bad when you do get out of bed. Last time I got weeks and weeks of breakfast in bed from DH, as it was 'doctor's orders'!
I would recommend asking your DHs anyone who's still feeling sick.
I don't feel so bad anymore - even managing to clean my teeth midmorning, which wasn't possible a week ago - gag!

muminamini · 01/09/2006 11:34

Morning ladies
I ama very happy bunny indeed this morning as I had my scan this morning and there wasmy little bean with it's heart beating away. Was such a relief to see it for myself.

The scan was very reassuring, it shows that I had an implantation bleed and that there is no fresh blood there now and all is looking "as well as it can at this stage" according to the sonographer.

I was very impressed with the EPAU (I lived somewhere else when I was last pregnant) - they were very thorough and everyone really explained everything - and I got my beanie picture too. The joy made me forget my MS for about 5 mins until the next wave of it washed over me....holliehobbie - I remember vividly being unable to brush my teeth with my DS but no problem with that this time - I just feel sick all the time now...convinced therefore I am having a girl....

Cornflakekid - good news you have your scan date.
Hope everyone is well today..am working this afternoon but looking forward to doing alot of resting this weekend - I fell asleep on couch last night at 6pm and went to bed at 8.30.....gonna struggle on the afternoon shift at work...I can feel it already

x

Also - can stop worrying it's twins - I'm obviously just fat - he he he

oooggs · 01/09/2006 11:58

Hi all - would love to say sickness is subsiding, but it's not, it's worse

Eat as much as I can during the say then bring it all up after tea.

Midwife on Tuesday - hope everyone else well

emmymummy · 01/09/2006 13:09

Am also very of all of you who've had scans - it makes it feel all the more real. I won't get mine til 12 weeks (another 6 weeks to go). Am going to have to fake stomach pains too and see if I can get one earlier.

Know what you mean CaptainDippy about it not feeling real right now. except I cannot avoid the ms - seems worse than ever today and have had to just keep eating all day long to keep it under control. Am at work and really really want to go to sleep. Do you think anyone would notice? Might just shut my office door and crawl under the desk......

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 13:17

Had my first MW appointment this morning - all went well. Nothing obviously wrong with me which is always nice to know!!
It's also my last day at work today! I never imagined I could be so pleased to lose my job! I think I'll find some low stress temp work to keep me occupied for the next few months and to keep the £ rolling in as well, but I'm so glad to be out of here!! Ahhh relief
I've got my scan next Thursday which is really exciting! How early can they tell what sex the baby is?

bubbaloo · 01/09/2006 13:22

Sydsnow-Glad your mw appointment well went.I also had mine this morning and have a date for my scan which seems ages away(10/10/06).Glad you also seem fairly upbeat about your job.

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 13:24

They seem to like to tease us with scans don't they!
Very jealous of my frind who is pregnant in Hong King. She gets a scan every month up until the last 2 months and then she gets a scan every week!!!

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 14:23

My belly button hurts! Weird!??

CornflakeKid · 01/09/2006 14:23

Great news muminamini

My lot don't like doing dating scans until 8 weeks unless there is a problem - before 8 weeks they tend to give an internal scan but after 8 weeks on your tummy - so it is nicer to wait a bit I think.

I can categorically state now that I cannot sit down in my trousers! and I look atleast 16 weeks pg! I don't think can hide it much longer - it doesn't even look like fat - I have that thick waist pg look! It's nice but still about 3 or 4 weeks to 12 week bit - though once have scan will feel more reassured. I feel confident now that everything will be alright - I know that can change but my pg symptons are so strong it's quite reassuring - albeit hideous!(fingers, toes etc crossed) and the twin thought is still there!

Go beans go! At 8 weeks mine is about 3cm long - ahhhhh!!!

Bugmum · 01/09/2006 16:32

I'm not getting my scan until pretty much 13 weeks! And it's the nuchal scan; as that will date it as well, my hospital doesn't see the need to give a separate dating scan. So as I'm only 6 weeks + 2, I have aaaaaaaaages to go until I know whether all is well. Not feeling so sick these past couple of days, so naturally that worries me. As someone else said, you can't win, can you?

One part of what I do for a living is writing, but I sit and stare at the computer...

bobblehead · 01/09/2006 17:25

at all theses scans, I have to wait until 20 weeks!
Have doctors next week when I will be 10 weeks. Anyone know when it is you can hear the heartbeat with a doppler? I think 10 weeks may be too soon but I just so want to know everything is ok.
Keep thinking I feel better, but then try to think of what to eat (as I am perpetually starving) and nothing appeals, which is so not like me! Have found nutella on toast in the morning seems to help though

Bugmum · 01/09/2006 18:22

Bobblehead - I think it's 12 weeks at the earliest

EllieK · 01/09/2006 18:50

hi all
muminamini - i too am convinced it must be a girl, had awful ms last time with ds, constantly being sick. this time i feel it all the time but at 8+3 have still not been sick. my sister also had it bad with her ds but not with her dd so it looks more likely by the day!

had first mw appointment today, booking in, took ages! first time for dp so he was well excited by it all. i just hate all the questions!

scan isn't til 22nd but i don't mind waiting, i feel lucky that we get a 12 week scan as standard, not every hospital does.

i spoke to mw about the triple test. not sure whether to have it or not, briefly it is a blood test at 14 weeks which shows up whether you are high or low risk for abnormalities such as downs syndrome. if you are high risk you then have the choice whether to have an amnio or not. both me and dp have said that we wouldn't do anything different if the baby did have problems and would never have amnio as this can cause miscarriage so the triple test seems a bit pointless.

Do any of you have this test offered to you? what are you doing?

bobblehead · 01/09/2006 18:50

Thanks Bugmum, I suspected so. Will have to wait until next visit before I believe there is a baby in there

bobblehead · 01/09/2006 18:54

I refused it with dd EllieK. Like you, we wouldn't have done anything so there seemed no point. Also I felt that when any odds were quoted at me, even 1 in 1000000000, I'd just be thinking, well I could be that 1! I'd prefer just to not think about it. Not that I won't find plenty else to worry about!

EllieK · 01/09/2006 19:01

i know what you mean bobblehead! so much to worry about. i'm quite calm but having dp go thro it all for first time and explaining everything brings back all those first time worries!
we're edging further towards refusing it by the day, altho i know that having a low result would put my mind at rest, even tho a high one wouldn't change anything.
such a minefield
one thing really put in in perspective today, a colleague had to leave work to see his sister suddenly, his nephew is serving in iraq and was seriously injured, lost a leg but is stable now. made me realise that these 9 months are nothing, they have a whole lifetime to get thro and we can only protect them so much x

doobydoo · 01/09/2006 19:21

Bugmum..don't know if this will help, but i was feeling pretty ok till wednesday[when i was 8 weeks]Since then i have felt so sick!I have been retching etc and have one off everything except Heinz Tom Soup, fruit polos and pineapple juice..and the odd cream cracker so there is hope for you yet

liath · 01/09/2006 19:44

Muminamini - so chuffed for you that the scan went well, it must have been wonderful to see that little heartbeat.

I'll probably have the triple test although I wouldn't want an amnio. If I want a detailed scan I'll have to pay for it privately as they're not done routinely here.

God, this tiredness is AWFUL, am clinging on to the hope that it'll get better - my mum said if I feel tired now just imagine how I'll feel once the baby's born. Not the most helpful remark, bless her.

Have a good weekend everyone!

AngeG · 01/09/2006 20:50

Hi, looks like i'm a bit late! Only just found MN. I'm due 7th April with baby 2. My 1st will be 3 in 9days. 1st pg was fab up until 28 wks when midwife said small for dates, followed by scans galore and CTGs. DS1 born by c-cection at 34wks after blood pressure went sky high. Only weighed 2lbs 10 oz and spent 3 wks in special care...not that you'd know now. As you might have guessed from my ramblings i'm a bit worried about what will happen this time!
Looking forward to getting to know you all

babycakes26 · 01/09/2006 20:57

Hi all
sorry not been around this week had nightmare week which culminated in a day in hospital today. Looks like I have had another mc so feeling very low tonight - bleeding not awful but scan not hopeful so back Monday as not 100% but more or less 99% about the mc. Sorry to bring the bad news - you have all been so wonderful on here and I wish you all well BC xxx

EllieK · 01/09/2006 21:15

angeG, my ds will be 3 in 3 weeks and i'm due on april 7th, isn't it tiring!

bubbaloo · 01/09/2006 21:46

Babycakes-so sorry to hear your news.sending you a big hug.x

AngeG-Welcome aboard the April thread!

AngeG · 01/09/2006 21:47

babycakes, really sorry about your news thinking of you.

EllieK thanks for making me feel welcome. Tired just isn't the word is it! Can't believe I'm still up. Boobs are terrible as well and ds insists on elbowing with great regularity. Does your ds know about baby yet? Mine keeps saying your baby's in your tummy... I love your baby, even though we haven't said anything directly to him about it.

Bedtime now. Nite all

AngeG · 01/09/2006 21:48

Thanks bubaloo

Bugmum · 01/09/2006 21:55
