Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Congratulaions ooogs, how exciting! But talking of twins {shock] at your geat gran, Syd - 3 sets doesn't bear thinking about!!! Sorry to hear about the redundancy, BTW.

DH has been a star the last 2 days but from tomorrow has 7 shifts in a row - mostly 12 hour days so I'll be on my own. I get absolutely shattered by around 4pm and haven't been able to convince dd of the benefits of cbeebies either.

Am of the M&S shopping spree. I'm going to need some casual maternity stuff as most of mine seems to be work gear. Spent too much in Formes - definitely can't afford that this time around!

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 18:59

Oooggs amazing!!!!! Did you have an inkling that it might be two?

Syd - did your work know you're pregnant? Any chance of claiming unfair dismissal or are you totally cool with the situation?

Sorry, so many questions.....

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 19:02

Twinkle - forgot to ask, is your dh in the army or something?

CornflakeKid · 30/08/2006 19:22

Liath - ooh Formes! I can get away with fairly casual clothes at work - so no need to get really smart stuff - ebay is great for maternity wear by the way.

I am sat here while my ds's are fighting in granny's spare room - have told them can't go to zoo tomorrow if they come out (past bedtime) and from the screaming - get impression my eldest is being pummelled by ds2! Bless DS1 such a softie.

doobydoo · 30/08/2006 21:21

Hi Everyone..Welcome all newcomers.Good to read how everyone is doing.I had a v.busy week as my friend came over with her twins who are 5!She keeps chortling that i might have twins.
Ds was 7 yesterday and he starts his new school tomorrow,so i am feeling quite emotional and also very, very sick.I can only think of apples and water without wanting to throw up.
I am 8 weeks today.
Keep well all of you

WestCountryLass · 30/08/2006 21:42

My midwife rang today and i've got my booking in appointment on Monday

LOL Doobydoo, there are a fair few sets of twins in the village where I live and I have been ribbed that I might be expecting twins too.

oooggs · 31/08/2006 08:50

sydsnow - sorry to hear of the redundancy.

dazed at the thought of having twins but enjoying virtual spending on the internet for new pushchair etc...

sorry to hear that we are still feeling sick - the joys!!

CaptainDippy · 31/08/2006 09:23

Felt so crap when I woke up this morning and DH had to go to work early He was sooo lovely though - went and had a shower, then got the children up, fed and dressed while I bumbled along getting myself ready, bless him!

Still feeling very at PIL - if my MIL says "oh dear, are you feeling tired and sick?" and then walks away, not even waiting for an answer one more time, I think I'll screeeeeeeeam!! Need to move out of here before I do something crazy!!!!

Going to see three more houses today and going for a 2nd viewing on a couple of houses we like tomorrow - So hopefully things can start moving along sooooooooon - can't wait for space of my own!!

Midwife should be phoning tomorrow morning to arrange booking etc.

Still can't believe I am PG in many ways - definitely thinking that I am insane atm - Please, someone, tell me that this is going to be wonderful!!?

Smole · 31/08/2006 11:44

Been away for a few days just spent ages catching up. Feeling like poo this morning. Thought I was having an early scan on Tuesday but when I got there I was told they didn't do scans and the midwives seemed unsure why I was there. So had to go back for my booking in yesterday and they've requested an early scan for me. Chased up the scan with the hospital when I got in, to be told they don't do reassurance scans. They will only scan if I am in pain or bleeding. So I now suffer with mystery pains and have a scan booked for Thurs 7th Sept.

twinkle183 · 31/08/2006 12:23

Hi emmymummy his in the navy!! He loves it and it brings in the money - just not enjoying the prospect of being on my own next year!!

Congrats oooggs on your set of twins!! Keep us informed on how things are progressing!

Am having terribly painful boobs my ms seems to have passed , which I'll try not to rub it in too much!!! Am still waiting for an appointment! (Scan & midwife)

Hope everyone else sickness subsides!!

Take care everyone

emmymummy · 31/08/2006 13:52

Twinkle - I can only sympathise as mine used to be in the army and would be away for months too. He also loved it and he found it really hard to adjust to civvie life. I'm glad he got out though, what with Iraq etc. I'd never have seen him!

Greengirlforever · 31/08/2006 14:29

Smole - lol at your "mystery pains"! That is totally the way to handle them though. You go girl! I am about to pick up the phone to chase up my scan appt which is supposed to be for next week and have heard nothing. Wish me luck.....

CaptainDippy · 31/08/2006 14:38

Good Luck!!

Bugmum · 31/08/2006 15:15

Captain Dippy - we are all insane to do this, but you are going to love it and it's going to be wonderful. How lovely to have three! Once you are away from the PiLs, everything will look much brighter

womblingalong · 31/08/2006 15:35

Hi everyone,

Just been catching up with all your news, haven't checked in for a while, am now 8weeks plus, 1st appt with MW tomorrow, Twinkle, are your dates still the same? April 7th?

I'm feeling very wiped out at the moment, and nauseous, tho not being sick thankfully! Am also having very vivid dream - anyone else?

Still don't really feel this pregnancy is 'real' if you know what I mean, I keep wanting to do another test to 'make sure' How silly is that!

Sydsnow, sorry to hear your news, it happened to me with my first too. I was lucky because I left with 15weeks or less to go, I qualified for redundancy pay, mat benefit, holiday pay and payment in lieu of notice. All in all I was better off than if I had stayed with the company and only got mat leave. I was also able to have over a year off with my DD. Just wanted to reassure you that things usually work out ofr the best, be strong.

Hope that everyone is getting a bit of rest, and taking care of themselves.

WA

Greengirlforever · 31/08/2006 15:46

Thank you CaptainDippy!

Alas no date & they have no record of referral for me at hosp. Chased up midwife and have just missed her return phone call with a scan date for me as I have been running around dropping off and picking up people at the trian station! Will chill out for my last hour or two at work and hopefully post again shortly with a scan date!

Bramshott · 31/08/2006 18:41

I had a scan this afternoon! There it was with it's little hands and legs (and tail!) waving away at me!! So exciting!!

I didn't think I'd be having one so soon, but I was in the ante-natal clinic to see the consultant (am 8.5 weeks, with previous history of various problems) when she said "and we'd better do a scan while you're here, just to check your dates"!!

Somehow it makes the sickness and tiredness so much better, having seem concrete proof of the reason for it, and been reassured there's only one in there!!

Am away to stare soppily at my little photos now . . .

CaptainDippy · 31/08/2006 18:52

Awww, thank you bugmum - you are right - so glad I have lovely people on Mn to reassure me!!

@ your scan Bramshott - glad everything seems ok atm and your dates were confirmed!!

All ok here - told driving instructor today as kept getting lefts and rights mixed up - PG Brain!!! He said "congratulations, we won't be doing any emergency stops from now on then!"

I love telling people!!

We are all insane - hurrah!!

Buckfyans · 31/08/2006 18:59

Hi Everyone

Duvet days are now officially over, will return to work tomorrow. In the end I was so bored, I absconded and lay around in DPs hotel room for two days, watching cable and ordering room service, but am back home now. Cough still there though better, obviously cured by all the cheesy chat shows .

Syd - sorry to hear your work news, although I am a firm believer in fate, everything always happens for a reason, even though you often don't see why at the time. I am sure it will work out for you.

I also have a confession to make, I went lurking at babyworld.co.uk, and even posted a few things ( I was really bored on my first duvet day), but would like to officially say that this is THE BEST forum. Its weird over there, they have all these individual threads and I got all confused!

Hope everyone is doing good.
Bucky x

Buckfyans · 31/08/2006 19:05

I meant babycentre.co.uk....I have really gone a bit loco....I keep getting everything mixed up.

muminamini · 31/08/2006 20:58

Hi everyone

Sorry it's been a while since I posted - so much has gone on - OOOGS - WOWSERS - TWINS! .

Can I also add "Doing The Porcelain Opera" to the euphamisms about throwing up?!

Bucky - glad your feeling a bit better love - I know what you mean though - there is only so much lying about you can do without being bored to death...
Well I am 6+6 and had my booking in appointment with the midwife today. I work at my doctors so it is nice as I know all the midwives anyway.

It was all just paperwork today but we had a discussion about my awful birth experience with DS and the midwife and GP reassured me that I would meet the consultant at 24 weeks and 37 weeks to discuss the best options for this labour and so I felt good that I wouldn't have to wait until near the end before I got to talk everything through with the consultant.

My doctor has also booked me in tomorrow morning at 8.20 for a scan. I realise I am very lucky and I did not expect this at all but she wanted me to be reassured after the bleed last week so I am half excited and haf terrified about it - so worried that when we get there there will be nothing there....sigh

I have been feeling really nauseous in the mornings and yesterday particularly was a real struggle. I thought I was going to have to pull over to throw up on the way back from taking DS to Nursery....it was hideous but thankfully I start to feel better at about 11am...or sooner if I can manage to eat - the thought of eating makes it worse but if I can force some porridge or something down I begin to feel better - must be something to do with my blood sugar as if I get hungry in the day the nausea comes back.

Well I will speak to you tomorrow and let you know how the scan goes

Keep well everyone
x

CornflakeKid · 01/09/2006 09:18

Morning everyone!

I had to come back from my mum's early because the tiler ran out of tiles arrrrghhh - they left at 9pm last night - so ds1 and 2 didn't go to bed til late - but did get 9 hours undisturbed sleep which was great (dh away too!). But my bathroom looks amazing and I am really pleased - my dishwasher broke 3 weeks ago and the new parts have arrived - so cheered up by not having to wash up anymore/smell dirty dishes!

I am still waiting for my scan date - every time ring hosp they put me through to the wrong people - so am going to ring again now and pin them down. I keep thinking I am having twins due to the tight trouser thing so want to be scanned asap - also want to see bean. My mum has 4 sisters and one of them was a twin (one died when young) so mildly concerned the twin thing is due!

Morning chunder still hideous - accupuncturist in today - but have boys - may try to find someone to watch them...

CornflakeKid · 01/09/2006 09:46

hoooraaah! After 2 more failed attempts I got through to the hosp. My scan is Monday 18 September at 10.55am - they said they don't normally scan til 8 weeks - said I was 8 weeks - could see cogs turning as to why was coming for dating scan - then quickly added 'well, I think I'm 8 weeks and I have 33 day cycles' ... phew!

only 17 days to go....

CaptainDippy · 01/09/2006 10:11

Yey for scan date CK!

Got soooo much to get done this morning - so not much time to post ..... should be recieving a call from my midwife today (I hope) to discuss booking in etc - Still can't believe I am PG - Madness!!

[hugs] to all - esp those with the morning chunder . xxxx

Smole · 01/09/2006 10:33

Well done conflakekid. Why do they make it so difficult getting an early scan??

How did the scan go muminamini?
