Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Babycakes, so sorry to hear about your news.

I still have my annoying dc, still neglible, still being told by the doctor that its fine until its fresh blood....I am worried, but I don't feel like anything is wrong if you know what i mean?

Yay for muminamini, glad all went well today....I don't meet the MW till friday, so fingers crossed till then....

Glad everyone else seems to be doing OK. x

Buckfyans · 01/09/2006 22:09

brain still stewed...meant "negligible"....

CaptainDippy · 01/09/2006 22:18

So to hear your news babycakes . Thinking of you. xxxx

Welcome AngeG - and congratulations!

All fine here, but looking so big and fat - so not going to be able to keep this a secret much longer. Just been to Book Group and one lady was blatantly staring at my fatty tummy when I stood up at the end! Oh well - MW didn't call today Hoping she will soon!

at these scans - glad they have been good!!

Greengirlforever · 01/09/2006 23:46

Babycakes - - Hugs to you. I so hoped this would be the lucky thread with no more mc's on here. A few of us are here after a mc so I hope you will be back on another ante-natal thread whenever the time is right for you.

Welcome to Ange and a happy pgcy to you !

I will throw the cat amongst the pigeons now as I haven't read this very often on mumsnet, but I am planning to have every test going. Being 41 is a big part of it. If my 12 week nuchal & AFP come out VERY low risk then maybe not but otherwise it will be an amnio (never had before as always been low risk) and everything that goes with it....

I too have a date for my early scan - not next week but the week after was the soonest they could fit me in. Everything still feeling fine though.

liath · 02/09/2006 08:40

Babycakes, I am so sorry, that is dreadful news and so unfair .

Hi to Ange and ditto with the tiredness. Getting some rather bizarre dreams here, too.

Am off to the NCT second-hand sale today - must resist buying cute baby stuff.

Is anyone else contemplating a homebirth, BTW? I've managed to talk DH round (he was worried about the mess....) and my mum says she'd come to look after dd. Got to hospital fully dilated last time so would prefer to do the whole thing at home if possible.

bubblez · 02/09/2006 10:05

Morning All,

Sorry about your news Babycakes lots of {{{{hugs}}}} going out to you and family.

Glad to hear that everything is ok MIAM and Bramshott and that your little beenies are doing well. Very of your early scans.

Syd I was told that I was going to be made redundant before I fell pregnant with dd it worked out that I qualified for my full mat pay as well as redundancy pay and they paid it all in one lump sum. HTH Hope that the same can happen for you too.

OH OOOGS BIG CONGRATULATIONS on your non-identical twins that means that they could be one girl one boy. How lovely!!!! Hope that the ms wears off though.

Laith with you on the weird dreams front..

I have had a scan booked for the 19th September when supposidly I will be 11weeks. Aparently I'm 8+4 today but my weeks fall in line with EllieK's and yet I'm due on the 9th of April and she is due on the 7th. Confused I think that they have got my weeks wrong!

Has anyone else been suffering with headaches?? oh and extreemly dry mouth at night time??

mammyjo · 02/09/2006 10:11

Babycakes, so sorry to read your post this morning. Thinking of you today xxx

Welcome to all newcomers. Havent been around much lately, still chucking and nauseated and tired. Oh the joys!!

mammyjo · 02/09/2006 10:14

Forgot to say I have my scan date through for 25th September as well as my consultant appointment on the same day. I will be 13 weeks by then.

Home birth is definitely not for me due to previous problems but I have a friend who had her second baby at home and she said it was so much more relaxed than being in hospital.

Babycakes - i'm so sorry to hear your news , take care and look after yourself.

Hi AngeG - congratulations and best of luck for an easy pg this time!

We told parents, bro & SIL last night - they were all stunned - and mom & dad cried - with happiness! Still not sure if we should have waited but going away with them next week & tiredness/nausea would have been difficult to hide. May have ruined their plans for a 40th anniv cruise as would be due the same week!!

So of all these scans. I wish I could have one too. No idea when that will be since don't even see mw until 12 weeks. DH wants us to have a nuchal scan, which would be private, & at least it would be earlier than NHS offer. Don't know, it's all too much to take in at such early stage. Cant look further forward then the following day.

muminamini · 02/09/2006 10:26

So sorry to hear that babycakes. You rest up and take care of yourselves.
We are all thinking of you on here
xxx

Bugmum · 02/09/2006 10:35

Greengirlforever - I too will be having a nuchal scan and the triple test, and I did so last time, too. I think there is a lot of difference between saying you won't at 32 and at 40, iyswim. I was 38 when I was pregnant with DS, 39 when I had him; I'm 40 now and (all being well) will be 41 when this one is born. I want those tests. That said, I would only have an amnio if the risk was high, as the mc rate is so appalling with the invasive test.

bubblez · 02/09/2006 10:48

hiya mammajo sorry to hear that your ms hasn't died down. Did the preggy pops do anything?

Does anyone have the stats link as I still haven't posted mine yet and can't find it??

Oh and is anyone else suffering with headaches and constant dry mouth symptoms?? maybe I should start a new thread on it.

Bugmum · 02/09/2006 13:04

Bubblez - I have had slight headaches on and off, and I definitely get the dry mouth thing, especially at night. It's like having a bad hangover, this pregnancy, but without the booze I feel really sick again today, just when I thought it was getting a little better

bubblez · 02/09/2006 13:12

Ahh glad I'm not alone....

I started a thread about the headache things and the recomendations were those cool strips (when it gets bad paracetamol). Aparently it has something to do with the hormone surge. Think that I might go docs though anyway just to be on the safe side. lol my doc is going to think I'm such a hypercondriac(sp).

Gotta get off the pc now though feel another headache comming on.

Hope your ms eases up.

Till tomorrow xx

bobblehead · 02/09/2006 14:55

Babycakes so sorry

liath · 02/09/2006 15:58

Bubblez - I got those headahces last time, they were awful. Have had them again this time but much milder, thank goodness. I took paracetamol pretty regularly TBH, couldn't see it doing any harm. I'm really thirsty too & drinking more than usual. HTH!

AngeG · 02/09/2006 16:32

Had terrible headaches last time and suffering a bit this time.
Been using the forehead stick... it works quite well.
Have been living off ginger beer and dry frosties but beginning to feel a bit better some of the time.
Thanks for the welcome have added my details on the stats thread.
9 wks today seeing MW on 11th.
Thinking of having nuchal scan done privately cos only have 16wk scan in Portsmouth and my DH will be 41 when this one is born even though I'll only be 28! I've heard father's age can have impact on downs etc anyone else heard that?

hollyhobbie · 02/09/2006 17:41

Babycakes:

Liath: I'm going for a home birth too. I had one with DD, and even though I can't have the same midwife (she's moving to another town), I'm having the helper-midwife from last time, so she's not a complete stranger to me.
Last time was great- so nice to spend the time at home, no pressure on when/if to move to hospital. DD was born on the bedroom floor and then she and I moved straight into our own bed. My waters had broken at 3am but my contractions were weak then, so to kill the time I baked cinnamon buns. Once DD was born, DH the 2 midwives and me all stuffed our faces!

hollyhobbie · 02/09/2006 17:43

Oh, and the headaches... glad it's not just me. I had them last time too, but can't remember when they started. I thought it was later than this (I'm 9+3 weeks), but since so many of us are having them, I'll consider it normal. Good tip about the cool strips.

WestCountryLass · 02/09/2006 20:10

Another hopeful home birther too

DD was born at home and, baby permitting, I would like a similar experience as it was wonderful - and in complete contrast to DSs premature birth and 3 weeks in NICU!

EllieK · 03/09/2006 01:06

hi all

AngeG my boobs are terrible too! just as they start to get better they go and get worse again, and today ds was not only elbowing me he was headbutting them whenever he tried to cuddle up, then elbowing as he pushed away again!
ds does know, he can be quite boisterous (sp?) so had to tell him to be careful of mummy's tummy. another mumsnetter suggested an excellent book which we found in ottakers and have read to him lots. he loves it and it really helps him to understand.
take a look

for anyone that hasn't done theirs yet, and bubblez who i know was looking for a link, to enter your stats click here!

I am 8 weeks and due on 14th April so i guess they must have yours a bit muddled bubblez, either that or mine! it wouldn't suprise me, my gp gave me a MATB1 form instead of my prescription exemption form, they're not supposed to issue the MATB1 til 26 weeks! bless him, most of his patients are older, he was my mum's doctor when she gave birth to me 24 years ago!

i have a dry mouth at night too, hangover effects without the drinking is just so cruel! been drinking loads of ginger beer as that's keeping the sickness away, fully expect to hate the stuff by the time i give birth!

mw suggested i might think about a homebirth but not sure. don't think i could ever move house if i'd given birth here!

stay well x

WestCountryLass · 03/09/2006 09:13

Hahaha Ellie, about moving house and homebirthing!

Indeed we moved house after having our daughther in our old house and we are now on No3 and hoping to have this one here and make this house home too

emmymummy · 03/09/2006 11:55

Babycakes - so very sorry to hear your news.

AngeG · 03/09/2006 14:33

Thanks EllieK, my friend bought that book just last week for my ds, it is wonderful!

Glad the boobs thing isn't just me, they do seem to better some days than others!

Its a better day today managed to go out for lunch with dh and ds and actually eat something! Normally I either can't go at all cos just the thought of it makes me sick or I think i'll be fine get there and order a meal and then proceed to eat nothing!

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2006 14:34

Just saying "hello!" - haven't got time for anything else!! Feeling super pick today Bleurgh!! That "There's a House Inside my Mummy" book is halarious - DD1 loved it when I was PG with DD2 - there is a bit about the "door being very tightly shut" - oooo errrr missus!!

Hee! Hee!

How's everyone else??

Midwife never did ring in the end - oh well, may be next week????
