Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Oooooh...someone with the same name as me.

emmymummy · 29/08/2006 20:51

Talk to the big white telephone?

IsabellaMoi · 29/08/2006 21:58

So nice to come here and read about people in the same boat. Thank you everyone!
Still having the same low-level, all-day nausea but I do feel okay right after eating. Vomited/threw up/up-chucked for the first time today. Can relate to those who are hungry but when they look in the fridge/cupboard find that nothing appeals.
I think I am losing a bit of weight, too...which is hard to believe because I am eating at least every 2 hours...but only small meals and snacks because if I eat a normal size helping I feel sick.
I am 7 weeks along.
Some of your midwives sound lovely! I've seen a GP for what I guess was a booking in visit but she only took my blood pressure (no urine check, no weight check) and told me what to eat and what to avoid and that was about it. I didn't really have a whole lot of questions and she was nice enough but no real warmth and concern. I'm still sorting things out a bit with my health care so may still get a lovely midwife.
Have a great evening everyone....sleep well (hopefully without too many trips to the loo!).

PeaJay · 29/08/2006 22:24

I agree with you Isabella. I'm so pleased I found this site - or I would be sitting here going out of my mind with worry about all the aches and pains, worrying more on a day when I don't feel nauseous. It's good to know other people are going throught the same.
Bugmum - I know exactly where you are coming from! I'm frightened that if I buy maternity wear, or look at baby gear, or tell anyone etc something bad will happen. Once I get to 12 weeks I'm hoping I will relax! I know all of these thoughts/feelings are unreasonable and I should be enjoying it, but I can't help it.
I think it doesn't help that I'm not seeing my MW until 12 weeks, especially being my 1st. I know theres nothing they can do yet, but a bit of reassurance and advice would be useful. I thought my GP would give me leaflets or something!

Anyway, going to see a friend for the next couple of days who has an adorable 2yr old DD - every time I see her I get broody, so I'm hoping that it will do me good - it's difficult to focus on the reason for this when you feel so crap all of the time!

Have a good couple of days everyone. x

Enthusia · 30/08/2006 08:56

Hi all

Saw my little one on a scan yesterday which was fab. Was reffered to EPU after gp thought I might be having a multiple pg, due to my size. But thankfully just one healthy 7 week old baby with a very strong heart beat. It is nice to know my dates are right too.

Feeling quite sick here but not half as bad as with ds, don't know if that is to follow or whether I will be a bit luckier this time. My major problem is being really tired, worse than with ds, I have to nap very frequently, thank god for my parents.

Enthusia 7 weeks

Greengirlforever · 30/08/2006 09:25

Enthusia - congrats - it must have been wonderful to find out a) all is well and b)there's only one! I should have an early scan next week which for me I just want to reassure myself that there's a baby there - cos with my mc earlier this year by the time they scanned (at about 11 weeks) there was an empty sac and no baby. Also I want to make sure there's only one as I seem to tick all the boxes for likelihood of having twins! Not looking big though so should be allright.

After all my smug - "I never get ms" I felt like total s**t last night! Not exactly wanting to throw up but just... uggh! Ate a tin of macaroni cheese - yum!

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 10:04

Hi all. Am now back at work after 11 day break and feel like total sh*t. Am knackered and struggling to concentrate on anything at all. Keep wanting to put my head down on my desk and just go to sleep. Oh how am I going to keep this a secret for at least the next 6 weeks? Anyone else at work? How are you coping?

CaptainDippy · 30/08/2006 10:50

Me too, emmmymummy - me too!! Feeling veeerry tired and finding it hard to concentrate - tough when you are running after a 15 month old and a 2.5 yr old all day long - thank goodness they both nap for an hour or so at the same time each day otherwise I think I's shoot myself now - feeling soooo tired and yukky - not sick, just very hungry, but when I open the fridge, nothing appeals.

@ your parents helping you out and letting you nap etc Enthusia - I WISH!!!! I live with my in-laws atm (house hunting right now ....) and they don't really lift a finger to help - I do all the housework and everything Don't get my wrong, they are very nice people, but they are definitely "on their terms" when it comes to the children - "as little as possible" seems to be "their terms", I'm afraid! If my MIL says to me one more time "you must sit down and rest as much as possible, don't do too much" (yeah, right) or says to my girls "now you must look after mummy" I think I'll SCREAM!!!! Sorry for rant, just find it tough, that is all.

Argh!!! Stop all this talk of twins guys!!! I am almost 8 weeks and have a definite bump - also, I did my PG test three days before AF due and came up immediately!!!! Soooo scared I am having twins - want a scan now!!!

Wouldn't be so bad I guess - I do want four anyway .......

Lovely to be able to come and chat to you mummies!!

bubblez · 30/08/2006 11:27

Hello everyone,

Welcome all newcomers.

Wow my goodness it has been so long since my last post, this thread has been so busy I haven't even had a chance to catch up on how everyone is.

Well it is week 8 day 1 for me and the nausea feeling is still lingering over me controlling my daily activities or lack of. Belly is extreemly bloated today and have developed the hideous four boob look lol.

Been very stressed out but things are finally starting to calm down.

How is everyone else doing? Does anyone else keep forgetting the folic acid? Oh and anyone else doing the biggest manliest burps arround? If so what do you do to help ease it?

twinkle183 · 30/08/2006 11:35

Hi guys... haven't been on recently one day seems to roll in to the other...

Took ds on a farm trip on bank holiday got back at about half three and dh told be to go to bed, 3.5 hours later and he woke me up! To a wonderful dinner, he is being really great!!!!

Hi CaptainDippy - your not the only one with a bump, I lost twins in march and am hoping that I am not having another set??? Am only 8.4wks... bit worried could do with a scan also...

Am still waiting for midwife and scan appointment - I hate waiting

Am working also with a 2.5 toddler, so when I get home I am nackered espcially it just feels like I am on the go 24/7 - am not looking forward to next year dh goes away for 4 months just after baby/babies are born - so will be on my todd anyone else going through this - sorry to whinge but feel like this the only place that I can!!!

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 12:59

CaptainDippy - go get some rest! Surely your MIL can keep her eyes on your little ones whilst you take a nap? Can't she (God forbid) just stick them in front of the TV for a bit and keep her ears open for them? Can't believe she lets you do all the housework - Can't you tell her pregnant women are not supposed to do hoovering (I think I heard that somewhere).

Crikey glad I'm not the only on worried about having twins. I'm 6 weeks and belly hasn't yet changed shape so maybe that's a good sign. Am just a bit worried as I concieved as soon as I stopped taking the pill (literally on the first go) and I'm told you're supposed to be super-fertile immediately after stopping the pill. Anyone know if that's true? Needless to say, once I go for a scan I will be very relieved if there's only 1 little heart-beat in my tummy.

bubbaloo · 30/08/2006 13:22

Emmymummy-I'm also worrying about twins.I'm already in maternity clothes at only 6 weeks pg and have lots of twins on both sides of the family.
Still got another 6 weeks to go yet, before my scan.

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 13:27

Ooh crikey Bubbaloo - I assume you've already got kids so maybe your tummy is just going back into pregnancy mode in preparation? Someone told me that your tummy behaves like an old pair of tights (nice) and once it's been all stretched it never quite pings back and then next time you get preg. it stretches again very quickly and the bump shows a lot earlier. Fingers crossed that's what it is.
Has anyone commented on your bump?

SydSnow · 30/08/2006 13:34

I was really popped out at 6 weeks as well. But I'm not at 8-9 weeks and it seems to have shrunk a little. Probably just water retention I think!
Lots of twins in my family too. My Great-Gran had 3 sets of twins - all boys!! And she had 2 of those sets within 18 months!!!!!

SydSnow · 30/08/2006 13:35

That was meant to be "now" rather than "not" at 8-9 weeks.

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 13:40

Oh my God Syd, your poor great-gran. Bet she had them all naturally too (wince).

emmymummy · 30/08/2006 13:40

You can tell I'm really keen on getting on with my work today can't you.

oooggs · 30/08/2006 14:38

Hello - well we have been away in the caravan for a bit, lots of rest and sleep as dh entertained ds.

Just been for a scan (I am 8wks tomorrow) and we saw and heard the heartbeats. Yes twins non identical and the chamces of making it to April are hardly unlikely so I will also pop over to March's thread & say hello.

Still feeling sick and now being sick as well - what a waste of food

CornflakeKid · 30/08/2006 15:43

Ooh ooggs congrats! I have been out and spent £250 in M&S on bras, low rise knickers, school uniforms, 2 necklaces and stretchy trousers and a zip up top and a lovely new coat that finishes at hips but last button can be undone and still looks nice - so naughty - so very very naughty - dh will have hairy fit! But made me feel better! It is such a hideous time though and my trousers are so uncomfy...and they will fit under bump for the whole pg. Any other good excuses welcome - got til friday before see him - so any good ones welcome!

Still waiting for hosp to call about scan - will wait til next week then chase them - I want to see my baby! My dh quite keen on idea of twins - I'm not so much! Would have to get a big people carrier - so may be good - the M&S spree will pale into insignificance!

Bored and sick! Mum is cooking spag bol which is enough to make anyone wretch yuk yuk yuk yuk (not just the smell - her cooking is BAD!)

CornflakeKid · 30/08/2006 16:54

Have been sitting on bathroom floor in new clothes chucking up! Nice. But comfy!

SydSnow · 30/08/2006 17:17

My DH is very pro-twins as well! Congrats oooogs - double the fun!
I actually just got made redundant! Just an hour ago. Not sure how I feel about it at the mo. I guess I was going to be finishing up in a while anyway, and I was hating my job!
DH will just have to get used to being the bread-winner a bit earlier than planned!!

CornflakeKid · 30/08/2006 17:59

OMG SydSnow that's terrible - you poor thing - last thing you need right now. Big hugs

CaptainDippy · 30/08/2006 18:02

Sorry to hear about your redundancy SydSnow - hope they give you a good package!! If you hated the job and were going to pack it in soon anyway, then perhaps the redundancy was a Godsend!!? Bit of a shock though - hope DH takes it ok - he'd best get slicing that bread!!

No chance I'm afraid emmymummy - no offers of help here at all - and I'm afraid my children won't sit in front of the TV for more than 2 secs - they are little dynamos - if they enjoyed TV it would possibly make my life a whole lot easier. They need to be looked after and watched 24/7, little terrors!!

Feeling reeeeally crap today - beginning to question why I actually want another baby on top of my two - don't get me wrong, I love this baby already, but I just don't know if I'll be able to cope - had a really rotten day, just want to crawl under the duvet and disappear right now. Unfortunately not possible - too much to do.

Best go and get on ........

bubbaloo · 30/08/2006 18:03

Congratulations Oooggs-is the first confirmed set of twins on this thread?.

Sydsnow-Sorry to hear of the redundancy, but it may not be as bad you as think.I gave up work after having Ds last year and I absolutely love being a SAHM.I had every intention of going back to work, but when push came to shove...

I've got my first midwife booking in appointment on Friday morning-going to see if I can get a scan before 12 weeks.

CornflakeKid · 30/08/2006 18:11

I completely agree with you CaptainDippy - I am wondering how on earth will get thru next few weeks feeling like this - DS1 back to school on tuesday - but DS2 home mon-weds when I'm not working - may have to book him into preschool - sounds mean but he will def have more fun there than with me! I just want to snuggle up in a little ball and read baby books/sleep/barf!
