Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Hi all glad to hear that everyone is doing ok. Buckfyans glad the dc is easing a bit too So has mine actually...I too have a huge belly although not put any weight on - reckon it's water retention! One tip I have been using a hair band (the elastic type) on my trousers - putting it through the hole and then hooking over my top button - has given me a little extra breathing space in my trousers and jeans...especially when sitting...cheap but seems to work. I have had a marathon trek around the shops today looking for some slightly baggier tops to hide my growing boobs and tum...exhausted and ready for bed now and nausea starting to kick-in - how predictable usual time.

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2006 18:34

My boobs are killing too - ouch!!

@ your mum emmymummy - they are just great, aren't they - quite, quite bizaare - it is not like you are going to have a reeeeally small age gap or anything - and like you said, you are happily married and this little one was planed etc - Crazy old moooooo! Speaking of "telling the olds", DH's parents have just got back off holiday and we're going to tell them tonight - reeeeally interested to see what their reaction is going to be ...... I'll post later and let you know!!

Do you know roughly when you are going to be due cornflake kid?? We could have bubbas on the same day!

One fatty mumma signing off......

BTW - Is anyone else on their third here, or is it just me????

hollyhobbie · 28/08/2006 18:47

Hi all.
Met my midwife last week and it was great. I live in Germany and last time had a homebirth, but throughout the PG went to the doctors a lot too. The doctors here are super-thorough and I so didn't want to have that same kind of care this time round.
So the midwife came round and told me that I don't really have to have anything done- just what I want/feel I need, and I only need to see her every 4-6weeks, which is a big change from every 2 weeks at the doctor's last time.
So -phew!- feeling very chilled and relaxed about it all. I have SUCH a rumbly tummy though - it rumbles all evening and all wakes me up at night!

CornflakeKid · 28/08/2006 18:58

CaptainDippy - I think I am due about 14th but unsure - awaiting dating scan appointment - and I am on my third! I am so glad someone else has big boobs, belly and barfability!

Tried on some soft black maternity trousers in jojo today - the ones with the complete waistband that can be folded up or down - they fitted but for some reason they decided we also grow hips when pg and had bits sticking out the side - if wasn't for that would have bought them! M&S stretchy trousers it is! Decided not to go for belly belt thing as most of my tops stop just above/on my hips and you would be able to see it - love the elastic band idea though - inspirational!

Have thought about what is causing the trouser thing and have decided that not water retention as I don't suffer from that, baby is still well down, so not baby, can't be normal fat as not eating so must just be normal baby blubber/waist thickening thing.

Have felt sick all day today but been to Castle Combe this evening with ds's to see my brother in law race (cars) and he came 4th which is brill - normally comes about 15th! So ds's happy watching max & ruby while I figure out what on earth to feed them for tea which won't make me barf.

Roll on 12 weeks - technically now in week 8!

yummymummy1987 · 28/08/2006 19:19

oooh cornflake im on week 8 now too! im due on the 17th of april, i feel sick constantly but my boobs have stopped hurting, still growing like crazy though although not had any waist thickening but im quite big as it is. if anything i have lost weight though wont last long im sure! but im getting married in 7 weeks so i hopefully wont put on too much before then!! any tips on what i can eat to not put on too much weight but that wont make me wanna spew?? this is my first so im a bit stuck

CornflakeKid · 28/08/2006 19:28

yummymummy - I would try to eat fruit - nectarines are quite easy going, jacket potatoes are easy - try to have some beans with them or tuna if you can face it (I can't!)- plain roasted chicken is okay too - crackers and cheese stays down but all really depends on how you feel. Earlier felt so sick - thought sod it - and had a can of fizzy vimto, frazzles and a rice crispy sticky bar thing! and it all stayed down! Planning a jacket potato for tea - just need to be brave enough to go into kicthen - the boys got ham sandwiches and crisps!

With my first I didn't need maternity clothes until 22 weeks - clothes started to get a bit tight at about 15 weeks but no where near as early as this!

Good luck for your wedding!

yummymummy1987 · 28/08/2006 19:56

thanks thats really helpful, i cant even go in my fridge at the moment cause the smell makes me feel ill!! my clothes arent tight yet but hopefully it will stay that way till atleast after the wedding, then i dont care! if you are on your third then maybe labours not so bad!! im am so scared though, im not so good with pain!

Sexonlegs · 28/08/2006 20:04

Hi all. MIAM, loved your rant about breast feeding. I gave up after a week last time, as it was just AWFUL, and am not even going to go there this time around.
Buckyfans, I don't have many symptoms either - just sore boobs really.
Anyway, need to head to have dinner, but hope everyone is ok.
xx

WestCountryLass · 28/08/2006 20:33

I'm having a bit of a food problem, I jsut don't fancy anything apart from tinned soup (which I never normally eat) and ice lollys.

I normally love my veg but whatever I eat, is unappetising and leaves a nasty after taste in my mouth. The thought of eating any fruit, actually makes me heave.

This baby will come out with a ring pull on the side of its head and a lolly stick up its bum!

EllieK · 28/08/2006 20:38

hi all
my ms doesn't seem as bad as with ds, feel it all the time but not actually ill (yet!)
i'm in week 8 and already had to give in and get some maternity trousers. was gonna buy some normal trousers in a bigger size but would already need a 14 (was 10/12) and seems daft to spend money on them when i'll need bigger ones before too long!
all seems very dfferent this time, putting on weight everywhere and much quicker, was 6 months before i looked pg last time!
boobs have gone from 34c to 34dd and still growing, also gave in and bought a rather unattractive maternity bra today, tho dorothy perkins ones weren't as bad as some i've seen!
hope others are all doing ok, any news on schneebly?

emmymummy · 28/08/2006 21:08

CaptainDippy - hope you get a good reaction from your olds! Let us know.
Had a phone call tonight from the midwife arranging my booking in appointment, and it was the same lady who delivered dd. I think I may get all emotional when I see her again as she was completely fab in the weeks after dd's birth as I was a little, erm, down with life at that point shall we say, and she really looked after me. I cried and cried after she signed me off last time. I hope she doesn't remember what a useless emotional wreck I was!

liath · 29/08/2006 08:42

Hi everyone!

I can't belive I was feeling smug at keeping the MS under better control this time, the last couple of days have been horrible. My blood pressure must be falling, too as I'm feeling very faint. No boob action here , still as tiny as ever.

Well, I can join in the disastrous breast feeding club too, had a nightmare time and gave up at 6 weeks. I was gutted but had no idea it could be so difficult - it's supposed to be natural FFS!! Hopefully things will be better this time but if not I don't think I'd get so upset about it as I did. Dd seems to have survived "evil" formula remarkably well. I just wish how you feed your baby wasn't such a emotion-laden topic, I get so cross at some of the stupid things spouted on the endless FF/BF threads .

Greengirlforever · 29/08/2006 09:40

Hi all - Glad it all seems to be going well for everyone at the moment - let's all get to 12 weeks problem-free! Here is my update so far. Saw my mw on Fri. She is wonderful - same lady I had earlier this year (mc) who can't do enough for me or spend enough time etc. I will be under a consultant for this pgcy due to age and earlier mc. I should get an appointment for an early scan through this week. Scan should be next week to accurately date pgcy (as had stopped ttc so was no longer writing down dates!)and also to ensure viable foetus etc unlike last time. I'm feeling that there is absolutely nothing wrong this time but nevertheless will be glad to get this scan out of the way....

BTW this would also be a 3rd baby for me.

Emmy - I'm there with the odd relatives - so am telling absolutely no one until after 12, possibly even 20 weeks! Easier for me because all family live abroad so they won't see me to start suspecting!

Breastfeeding - I found very easy with DS1 (now 13) and lasted for 14 mts! With DS2 (3.3) I was older, he was crosser and it was bloody hard work but we held on until 6 months. This time I think - well, I'll be even older(!) but with an easy baby I should be ok for 6 months at least. If not - I'll hang on for as long as poss - even a couple of weeks if that's all it is and then go to the bottle safe in the knowledge that a calm and happy well-fed mum = a calm and happy well-fed baby! Or should that be the other way around.... . At the end of the day your mental state is of paramount importance during those early weeks so it is whatever you are happiest with, I think.

CaptainDippy · 29/08/2006 10:00

Morning!

Feeling vauguely queasy this morning, but not too bad - having that "feeling hungry, but don't want to eat thing", which is very frustrating - oh well!!

So glad I am not the only one who is on their third - hurrah!! How old are your others cornflakekid!!?

Told the olds last night - MIL was delighted, absolutely thrilled. FIL didn't say a word - not sure what that means - I think they both think I am crazy - MIL went off on one about how hard three is - gee, thanks a lot!! Just what I need to hear right now. Not!

Right, loads to do, so best get on -

hensden · 29/08/2006 11:03

Hi all,

DH has been trying really hard o make up for his comments on MS. Still feeling very sick, but better for being able to rest over the weekend, we'll see how long it lasts.

Phoned the GP and they said they didn't need to see me and gave me a MW appointment 14 sept. I'll be 10 wks by then seems late to be booking in, not too bothered really as last time i never got to see the same MW more than a couple of times as they were always moving practice/on holiday/ sick. So not expecting too much from them. Don't live in a big town just a small village I got a more personal 'service' when we lived in London. Phoned to arrange a private nuchal scan as well, as the NHS don't do them round here, got a dating scan and bloods on 12 sept. Scared but excited!!!

It seems like April is the month to have No.3

Buckfyans · 29/08/2006 13:12

Went to the doctor today as cough is now beyond unattractive, I sound like I am related to a camel, and not a distant relative either!

Doctor agreed cough was hideous and said I could take a type of penicillen (sp?) and suggested a couple of duvet days and steam. I will complete the duvet days before taking the drugs, see if it helps . When I asked if the drugs were harmless both the doctor and the pharmacist quoted from a book " medical tests have not shown it to do harm", I'm sure its fine, but I'll see how the next few days go! Maybe being a little paranoid, but hey its not like I need anything else to obsess about...Considering I tried to bully the pharmacist into giving me something I am a little alarmed by my response. I seem to be going a bit mad....

Bugmum · 29/08/2006 13:15

I feel so ungrateful: I wanted so much to be pregnant, I was terrified when I had a bleed, and now I feel so lousy I don't know where to put myself. I feel sick all day; not actually been sick (yet), although retching etc, but I have nausea literally all day. So I eat tons of carbs, as the only thing that makes me feel settled even for a minute. And I don't feel like exercising. So guess what? Am getting fat. I didn't have any of this with DS - I sailed through, happy, healthy, exercising, but I am not enjoying this so far one bit.

And now I worry (stupidly, but there we are) that something bad will happen because I am being so ungrateful . Oh, roll on week 12 (am only 6 weeks)

CaptainDippy · 29/08/2006 13:41

Oh, bugmum - you poor thing - it is early days yet though - plently of time to start feeling better and enjoying your pregnancy!! Every pregnancy is different and don't feel guilty or selfish because you are not enjoying this one so far. We have all been there - I was as sick as a dog with my 1st - was sooooo glad when I hit 6 months and started feeling better, last PG was much better and I am jut waiting for the proper sickness to kick in this time!!

Finally got round to calling the hospital to arrange a visit from my midwife - have been dreading it as my midwife with my last PG was horrid and I was dreading having her again. Fortunately the midwife for our surgery has changed and apparently the new midwife is very lovely indeed - hurrah!! She is going to call me at the end of the week - looking forward to meeting her.

Roll on 12 weeks .....

bobblehead · 29/08/2006 14:25

Bugmum I felt like that with dd and it was gone by 10 weeks (improved by 9). I know it seems a lifetime away now though!
I am still feeling alot better, seemed to peak feeling sick middle of last week and although I have bad days I generally feel ok now. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so a little worried things are improving already though. That said I was retching over dd's sippy cup as I claened up last night so not out the woods yet!
We don't see midwifes here and no scan until 20 weeks. Have my first drs app next Thurs though

Bugmum · 29/08/2006 14:55

I love this board

mammyjo · 29/08/2006 15:37

Just popping in to say Hi. Quiet weekend for me, my birthday yesterday and just went for a walk on the beach with dh and ds. It was fab!! Saw the midwife on Sunday for my booking in appointment and have been referred to the consultant because of ds's group b strep and also I tore quite badly last time too. Midwife said they may say to go for caesarean but am hoping that will not be the case! Cant imagine the thought of being minus my car for 6 weeks with a newborn and a 3 year old in tow!!

OP posts:
liath · 29/08/2006 16:22

IKWYM Bugmum, was whinging to dh about how crappy I'm feeling and he just said "but you wanted to be pregnant"! Nice to be able to come here for a guilt-free moan!

Having said that we had a lovely day today and took dd to a local family park/farm and had a great time, now DH is busy making a (hopefully) minimally nausea-inducing dinner, bless him!

No scan appointment yet.

CornflakeKid · 29/08/2006 16:31

Mine are 3.3 and 5.2! (thats boys not boobs!) Sat in bed feeling very ill last night and tried to come up with as many words for sickness as poss - here goes!
sick
vomit
vom
peuk
spew
hurl
throw
chunder
chuck
I feel like it all day - so have retreated to parents for the week - so will be off til monday probably - may drop in for the odd fix! It's actually quuite nice and reassuring to know other mums feel as terrible as me! - in a nice kind of way!

I'm off for some morning chunder now - will catch up soon!

Buckfyans · 29/08/2006 16:50

Cornflakekid, may I offer the following additions to your comprehensive list: barf, boke (N.I. slang I am told by DP), blow chunks, upchuck, retch, heave, ralph....

How bored am I on my duvet day?..don't think I will last two more.

Greengirlforever · 29/08/2006 17:12

"Call for Ruth"? - "Ruuuuuu - th!" Apparently. Not that I normally get any ms (so far so good this time - fingers crossed again - no fingers left!).
