Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Muminamini and Bucky (and anyone else), I'm nearly 14 weeks now and am a first timer. Only two things curbed my insane inner panic; mumsnet for advice from wise ones and the knowledge that the more I panic, the worse it is for my health and the baby. Easier said than done, i know. You can only minimise the risks by really resting up when you can and pampering yourself and even then, what will be will be. I felt so nauseaus but instead of pushing it, I got signed off for two weeks and slept an awful lot. I felt guilty for ooohh, ten minutes!! And that is a major change for me, someone who has been very ambitious and keen to please. Bump just comes first now.

I asked for my scan to be asap as I was going on holiday (feeble reason). It should have been 10+5 but they put my date back a week so was actually 9+5. The relief was huge. Of course, now I wish I didn't have to wait so long for the 20 week scan. But I definately feel better and nausea has gone, with arrival of lardy belly!!

Anyway, you shouldn't feel bad for expressing your fears or indeed giving mumsnet a wide berth if you need to - whatever makes YOU feel calmer.

Finally, caffeine has made me MAD - even just a mug of tea. Bizarre, but I feel much more chilled without it.

I will leave now, sorry!

Hi all, and MIAM, thank you soooo much for your welcome - really lovely.
I am really sorry to hear some are having porblems - Schneebly and Bugmum - fingers crossed for you.
MIAM, with dd, I had brownish cm and even a bit of light bleeding during the first 6 weeks, and was terrified. However, there was nothing wrong, and everything turned out fine.
I can appreciate though how stressful it is. I was at work today and thought I could feel something, so excused myself from a meeting to go and knicker check!
Hang on in there, and keep us posted.
xx

muminamini · 22/08/2006 21:34

Thanks maazaa - I really appreciate that.
I know I need to stop panicking and just go with the flo....

SOL -Thank u too - I think the pains were actually wind cramps and the discharge is not anything to be unduly concerned about - the knicker checking doesn't stop after you have your BFP does it? If anything it's even worse....
Right well I'm having my crumpets and marmite and then off to bed (I had 3 hours sleep this afternoon as well!!!)
Night allx

CaptainDippy · 22/08/2006 22:15

Hi there!!

Can I join??

Got a BFP this morning so will be due end of April-ish, possibly beginning of May (might have to start a "due in May 2007 thread!!!!)

It is early days, but I am very excited!!

I'll go to stats now and reveal a bit more about myself .....

liath · 23/08/2006 07:56

Hi everyone.

Have been deliberately wearing black knickers - harder to analyse so I don't bother . It's so hard not to worry and this stage is going very slowly I've found, despite having the distraction of dd discovering the oven as a great thing to play with - aargh!

Feeling very sick here esp in the mornings - am trying to keep eating as it does seem to help. The pregnancy acne is beginning too - marvellous!

Bucky - hope to see you in a few weeks, I think it's wise to steer clear if it's freaking you out here!

MIAM, Bugmum et al - hope things have settled down. All I can say is that with my mc earlier this year when the bleeding started it didn't really stop and the cramping followed a day or so afterwards - so it really should be ok - fingers always crossed!

I have completely gone off sweet foods - this from a real chocolate lover - and have been craving smoked salmon & Philadelphia (and salad!) bagels. Put 2 of them away yesterday then read that actually I shouldn't be eating smoked salmon.... Bo***cks!

Smole · 23/08/2006 10:47

I think I've just gone off all food!

Got a date to see someone else for a scan on Tuesday 29th.

SydSnow · 23/08/2006 10:56

Morning!
I've woken up with spots all across the tops of my cheeks - just under my eyes. Nice!
I look like I've tried to draw freckles on with a red pen!

twinkle183 · 23/08/2006 12:14

Hi guys!!!

Am feeling really sick!!! I never had this with the last one but then with my last one I didn't find out I was pregnant until 12wks 6days - so avoided all the panic!!

However I am with the majority with the knicker check - espcially as I have just got over a mc in March!! So - I check every single time even if I feel movement - I am straight in the loo!!
Have not managed to control myself yet and probably won't until my mw and scan appointments!

Hope everyone is feeling well!!

Take care! (Oh welcome newcomers)

Bugmum · 23/08/2006 13:35

Still not bleeding (touch all woods and whistle!), and now feeling very sick, like a lot of you. Again like others, I didn't have this first time around. Still on knicker alert, mind.

Smole - that is outrageous! Hope when you do see the consultant, you at least gel.

babycakes26 · 23/08/2006 14:16

Hi all
almost a week since I have posted and what a slow week it has been! Lots seems to be happening here though and good to read that most of us are doing well this week. I had my midwife booking in on Monday and she called at 10pm last night (!!!!!) to tell me that I had an early scan at 10.30am this morning!!!! Panic mode!!! So after a very sleepless night Dh and I trotted along for the scan this morning.
The scan results were a little bit worrying really as apparently the sack is showing me to be 5-6 weeks pregnant whereas I had calculated from my last period to be 9 weeks yesterday. As there was some doubt about presence of a heartbeat I had to have a vaginal scan which showed a faint heartbeat and fetal pole. I suppose that's good news but the date mystery makes me think that perhaps the baby is experiencing growth problems and that all is not well. I have another scan booked for 2 weeks today so sure this is going to be a long 2 weeks but amid all the anxiety I will try to remain positive. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Hope the sickness eases a bit soon Bugmum and Twinkle - I too have been sick as a dog since last week.....

Bramshott · 23/08/2006 15:05

Thinking of you babycakes. Maybe it's just a little one? Fingers crossed.

Bugmum · 23/08/2006 15:24

Babycakes -
This isn't quite the same, I know, but late on in my pregnancy with DS, my bump didn't grow for a couple of weeks and I was sent for a scan, there was some concern and so on, then in the end he was 6lb 13 (and long) so a skinny little thing, but perfectly fine. As long as the head measurement is okay, they don't worry too much I believe

SydSnow · 23/08/2006 15:57

Babycakes, Couldn't you have conceived 3 weeks after your period? Stranger things have happened and that would make the new date about right.
Fingers crossed for you.

CaptainDippy · 23/08/2006 18:58

Hello! Not feeling particularly preggers, though fatty belly is already emerging!! No sickness yet - just waiting for that. Bit more tired than usual - just waiting to see what happens - very surreal and exciting!!

bobblehead · 23/08/2006 19:42

I'm feeling more sick this week and no food seems appealing anymore, but I'm staaarving all the time!
Been having some rough nights with dd which doesn't help the tiredness, but she has a good nap so have managed to sleep a little when she does (I won't even mention the state of the house though!)
Think I will finally call Drs for appointment today. We don't get a scan until 20 weeks here so I'm sort of hoping not to go until I will be able to hear heartbeat (10 weeks I think?). Also dreading taking dd with me as waiting times are usually really long (I think due to the fact my dr has some severly ancient patients who's appointments always run over!) and I dread to think of the merry hell she will cause. Still shudder at the time she came to the dentist with me...

coggy · 23/08/2006 20:08

Congratulations Captain Dippy!
That must be a record....only two posts on the ttc thread!!!
Really pleased to read your news.
X

Buckfyans · 23/08/2006 20:25

OK, so I couldn't help but peek..... I have a chest infection now so am too tired to panic! Or at least I have been so busy worrying about the fact that I am ill and all the coughing could make the baby jump ship that I forgot to check my underwear.

I like the 'wearing black underwear' tip, that could just work!

Thanks Maazaa, and 'Bucky' sounds cute

CornflakeKid · 24/08/2006 08:06

Welcome again to all new ones - if I mentioned I felt sick before, I was lying - NOW I feel sick! Any motion, smell, anything has me gagging - oh dear! Must put bucket in car!

Like Bucky too!

CaptainDippy · 24/08/2006 08:38

LOL coggy - you guys all over-ran me, I couldn't keep up so I'm afraid I gave up - Thank you for remembering me though!!

Feeling a wee bit sick this morning - oh no!!

It's my Wedding Anniversary today so just going to kick back and enjoy the day!!

CornflakeKid · 24/08/2006 10:58

My son was sick on his bed last night - so instead of getting the sick off his sheet this morning, I threw it in the bin! (shock) It was that or be sick myself!

Bramshott · 24/08/2006 11:34

I am throwing so much stuff in the bin that I usually recycle and compost as I just can't bear to smell it as I separate it all out! I'm feeling guilty too!

hensden · 24/08/2006 16:24

I haven't had much to say so far but just had to come and have a rant to someone.. When pregnant with DD2.10 I was admitted to hospital with HG. Sick 24/7 lost 2 stone felt reeealy ill. No.3 on the way and feeling rougher by the minute, last night was finding hard to cope so phoned DH who still wasn't home by 7.30PM to ask him to come home, he arrives at 9PM and proceeds to tell me there are plenty of pregnant women who don't make such a fuss about it and MS is all in the mind and I could stop my self being so ill if I tried. If i didn't feel so sick and had the energy i would have argued, I just could't be bothered but I'm so annoyed. MEN!!!

babycakes26 · 24/08/2006 17:20

Hi Henson
Keep away from the kitchen knives....I would have been sorely tempted last night if that had been my DH!!!! Remember though if God had made men have the babies we would be an extinct species by now Can't personally complain at the mo (sorry not wanting to sound smug) as my DH is being a superstar. If I was him I would have probably left me by now!

Hi to everyone else - how are we all doing today? I have had a duvet day (heeheeheehee) although been on work emails a fair bit. Still no bleeding (back down to a 45 minute knicker check at the mo)so feeling +ve. Chronic MS this morning from about 4am through to lunchtime. Think my recent sleepless nights are catching up with me...anyone got any good sleep tips apart from camomile tea which is making me gag at the moment??? Just wanted to say btw thx for all your support and messages you are lovely lovely people
