Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Have to say again that accupuncture is great or if you can stand it an ovaltine works a treat for me combined with fluffy pjs and Sharon Osbornes autobiography! And it has to be early - before 9pm. It also cuts out a few hours of feeling sick...

Off to share some fish fingers and beans with my boys! Have had lots of cpmplaints from hubbie about lack of housework and food in fridge - a very clear and direct response has resolved the situation!!

babycakes26 · 24/08/2006 17:39

Thx Cornflake I was having acupuncture regularly before I got pregnant but my therapist said to leave it until 2nd trim now to be totally sure. Sounds like it is helping you though...maybe I should get back in touch with her...

IsabellaMoi · 24/08/2006 18:37

Hensden - you poor thing. He needs an education! Can you get someone he really respects to inform him about the reality of MS? Hope he soon sees the light and starts giving you lots of the TLC and support you so deserve.

I have all day MS but, for me, as long as I eat every hour or hour and a half (cream crackers are my snack of choice at the moment!) I can just about keep it under control.

BTW, wanted to say that my hat is off to all of you who have other children. I'm marvelling over how people who have really bad MS manage to parent their other child/children. Well done! My sister was vomiting 10x/day when she was pregnant with their 2nd - not quite sure how she coped.

Have a great evening everyone...

CornflakeKid · 24/08/2006 19:06

I tell him to imagine having a stomach bug and how you feel just before you are going to be sick - and that that is how I feel all the time! I do tell him it is a good sign though and will end soon - needs some reassurance I've not turned into wife from hell.

EllieK · 24/08/2006 20:15

not a bad day ms wise, til i got home with ds!
acne just clearing up, thankfully!
hope all are well - ish! x

EllieK · 24/08/2006 20:21

wow captain dippy, just saw your stats, you are very brave, 3 under 4yrs!

EllieK · 24/08/2006 20:47

does anyone have any news on schneebly?

CaptainDippy · 25/08/2006 08:48

Thank you!! Not 3 under 3 though - just!! Can't wait to have another, my girls are incredible - really wanna big family with not very big age gaps in between - I must be crazy ....

CornflakeKid · 25/08/2006 18:18

the accupuncture went great today - feeling much better - she was amazing - also said drink lots of apple juice - apparently your liver heats up when pg and intensifies the sickness and apple juice cools it down. She sorted out my headaches aswell - said keep eating small meals of whatever you can but stick to food that is easy to digest so body not working overtime. Long may it last! She also said about holding the pressure point down on your wrist before you move in the morning - about 4cm from bottom of palm between those two tendon things.

Hope you all have a good weekend

Buckfyans · 25/08/2006 19:44

Muminari, I keep having what you had on the 22nd, I have had it 3 times now with like 3 or 4 days between each occurance. I did a PG test again today and it was still +ve. I think I might be being a bit melodramatic perhaps....maybe its normal?? But what is it?

Considering I am the person that said reading all this stuff about discharge was panicking me, I am being somewhat of a hypocrit now posting, but I am interested to know if this is common?

babycakes26 · 25/08/2006 20:49

Hi Buckfyans
I too have had the same the last week or so - my BF (who is mum to 3) has told me she had it in the early stages of all her pregancies (just as you describe) so I have calmed a little - hope this gives you a little comfort xx

CornflakeKid · 25/08/2006 20:49

Welcome back Bucky! Have you got an early pregancy assessment unit at your hosp? - they could do a scan for you. I think you can ring your hosp direct and ask rather than going to see doctor and then being referred.

muminamini · 25/08/2006 20:50

Hi Everyone

Been out of action for a couple of days just resting up and hoping that this discharge will stop.
Bucky - I've had it since Wednesday morning - there is not alot there at all - in fact it has practically stopped - it is just a very slight discolouration to my discharge (sorry if TMI) is totally painless. I am a bit more chilled out about it as my GP says it is very very common and is probably the implantation bleed just making its way out - it takes alot of time as your cervix is tightly shut now because you are PG.

So providing there is no fresh blood she has told me not to be unduly worried....ha ha

I have to say though that since yesterday my whole PG symptoms seem to have kicked into action. I had my first pregnancy retch this morning and I had a 3 hour nap yesterday and today in the afternoon as I was so so tired.
I have to say I have warmly greeted these symptoms and keep telling myself they are good signs that things are progressing....whether that is the case or not who knows!

I agree totally with the wearing black knickers idea - very good plan!!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. My husband is still being totally wonderful, I have literally not had to do a thing this week - it is driving me mental as I am not one that finds the concept of R&R easy to deal with and have been told off severely for cleaning the bathroom this afternoon whilst he was in the garden....

I know I just need to take it easy for a few days but it's so blinking boring!!!!

babycakes26 · 25/08/2006 20:52

Hi cornflake - thx for the tips earlier - pushing my pressure points!! Glad the acupuncture in helping...you have convinced me to book another treatment session next week

babycakes26 · 25/08/2006 20:56

Hi muminamini
Glad you are feeling a little more relaxed about the dc - sounds like your GP is right - as so many people I have spoken to (can you believe we have been discussing DC!) have told me the same. All your symptons sound very positive - try and rest up - I know what you mean though I am so bored with resting...but at the same time too lethargic to do much...not my usual approach to life but hey we're pregnant

liath · 26/08/2006 00:03

Just woke up having passed out on the sofa AGAIN...I was so close to locking my office door at lunchtime today for a wee snooze too.

For anyone keen to invest in a robust pair of nice black pregnancy-friendly knicker I can thoroughly recomment Sloggi boy shorts - such comfort . Seriously, though I hope things settle down for those with odd discharge & I think it is really common. I know a few people who've had bleeding at this stage and who've had no problems for the rest of the pregnancy.

Am keeping the MS under reasonable control by eating frequenlty but have gone right off loads of things that I usually love. Not working full time helps too, this time! I remember feeling really grim at work last time but it seems easier to deal with at home.

Wombligalong - I've replied on your Edinburgh thread, let me know if you need anything else, I can dip into my copy of "Edinburgh for the under fives" which has loads of stuff to do with small kids here and the Lothians.

Buckfyans · 26/08/2006 09:37

THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH esp. Babycakes and Muminari. I feel so much better, even DP was getting a little freaked out. There is really not very much of it at all and it is def not fresh blood, so the explanation is very plausible. I feel fine too, actually v. fine except for the cough, which apparently is due to my immune system being lowered so that my body does not reject the foetus (NHS website). In fact the coughing maybe what has displaced everything.

I fully appreciate this website now, and promise not to moan ever again. x Hope everyone is doing good today....have my fingers crossed five time (only have ten fingers obviously!)

muminamini · 26/08/2006 10:08

Glad you are feeling a bit more re-assured Bucky - I know what you meant though last week - it can be really frightening sometimes if youcome across a post and you start thinking about it all but then again as we have found too it can work to the posative and be reassuring also.

God I feel sick again this morning...still ate my crumpets with marmite tho! lol

DH went out last night and bought 2 big packets of Jacobs Cream Crackers as Iwas finding yesterday that as soon as I felt hungry the nausea started but if I just ate when the feeling came on it subsided a little...so I'll end up like a house end again byt he end of this pregnancy no doubt! lol

Didn't sleep too well last night - DH was snoring like a steam train - I ended up going in to sleep with DS at 3am - much to his delight, at least then he slept in till 9 am though - so I got a precious hour on my own downstairs watching Portland babies and Home Birth Diaries on Disc H&H....takes me back to being PG with DS as I used to get up early at the weekend and just watch all the baby programmes...only thing is that nearly 3 years on and it's all the same programmes! So Disc H&H - if anyone is listening - MORE NEW PREG AND BIRTH PROGRAMMES PLEASE!!!

Rant programme terminating
Have a lovley day - hope everyone isn't feeling too grim
x

Buckfyans · 26/08/2006 10:26

Sorry Muminamini for calling your Muminari...Muminari sounds a bit like a pasta dish

muminamini · 26/08/2006 10:31

lol - no problem...x

CaptainDippy · 26/08/2006 10:42

Not much time to read other posts, but my belly is huuuuuge and my bellybutton's already doing weird stuff - how am I going to keep this a secret for the next 9 weeks or so!!!!?

Will reply properly later ......

Sexonlegs · 26/08/2006 14:01

Hi all, glad to hear all is well with everyone. Love the idea of black knickers only! It's horrendous isn't it!
Not much to report here - have a hacking cough and worried poor beany will fly out with all my coughing action.
Heading to a BBQ now, where will have to refrain from the booze - no doubt people will question why!!
Love to all.
HTH

Bugmum · 26/08/2006 17:40

Muminamini - you have passed your craving to me: now all I want is crumpets with Marmite - I am going to get HUGE as I have no self-control.

All still okay this end, though still crossing everything, obviously (including me legs...)

bobblehead · 26/08/2006 17:42

I'm wearing red knickers today, which is really living dangerously as any random bits of red fluff that get cought up in my masses of discharge (hope I'm not the only one with this!) can lead to panic

Another one with a snoring dh keeping me awake here, luckily I usually get to kick him out to the spare room downstairs as he doesn't want to tend to dd during the night, so a whole king size bed to myself (and thats American king size and they are huuuuge!)

yummymummy1987 · 26/08/2006 21:00

hi everyone, hope everybodys day is going well, i am 7 weeks on monday and yes still trying to keep it a secret from people although im almost bursting with the effort!!
