Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

I'm taking those Sanatogen ones with Folic Acid in. I haven't had any symptoms yet either. Not sure whether this is a good or bad thing. With dd I found the morning sickness strangely comforting. Actually got round to going to Docs this morning. 5 weeks down 35 to go!

SydSnow · 18/08/2006 15:26

Hi Everyone!
By my estimations I'm due early April but have yet to go for an official dating scan or anything.
Have been lucky so far with hardly any nasty symptoms, although I have one restless leg today which is driving me mad! Just one - how wierd!
When do you need to start booking yourself into hospital etc? I'm from Aus, so the system here seems very strange and complicated to me!

blossom2 · 18/08/2006 16:17

Hi everyone,

glad i'm not the only one forgetting to take folic acid every day!!

thinking of you schneebly - hope its all okay.

in terms of symptons, its been pretty mild for me, so far. no major vomiting, just loads of nausea and tiredness. cant seem to eat much either, so having lots of small meals during the day. have completely gone off tea and can just managed a coffee couple of times a day.
i'm of you all who dont have any symptons. hope it carries on, i just can wait until 12-14 weeks when it will all be better ...

SydSnow · 18/08/2006 16:23

I'm not counting my chickens yet - sounds like lots of people get MS from 8/9 weeks, so am not feeling smug just yet!

EllieK · 18/08/2006 16:26

Syd - you need to register with a GP if you haven't already. In some areas you get a scan at 12 weeks but there is a wait usually so if you don't get booked in you won't get the scan til late.

SydSnow · 18/08/2006 16:28

I have a scan booked in for the first of Sep!
Finger's crossed!

EllieK · 18/08/2006 16:30

that's it then, you don't need to do anything else, midwives will guide you along from here on in!
just remember to ask if you're confused about ANYTHING, with ds they seemed to expect me to just know stuff and i was clueless!
in the end i changed midwives and got loads more support.

liath · 18/08/2006 16:31

I'm like you, Blossom. Nausea is really kicking in and the thought of a cup of tea this morning made me want to hurl. I find feeling cr*p vaguely reassuring, at least, but the scan seems a long way away.

Hi Syd - the first step is to see your GP and they'll get the paperwork done and refer you on for your booking scan. They might want a wee sample to confirm pregnancy, mine did anyway. Saw my nice GP today & as the last time I saw her I was in the throes of PND we had a bit of a chat on trying to avoid post-natal melt down this time. I think NOT having MIL to stay straight after the baby's born will be a good start .

treacletart · 18/08/2006 17:58

Hello all - did a test this afternoon at my best mates house with her 2 DSs watching like a home science experiment and discovered I'm pregnant with number 2!! So seems I'm due 27th April. Only obvious symptoms so far are superhuman sense of smell and really horrid taste in my mouth. Dont know how I'm going to keep this from DS (3.2y), particularly now my mates DSs know! He's baby crazy and keeps saying he wants a baby sister to call Marshmallow. Good luck everyone!

schneebly · 18/08/2006 19:23

have to wait until next week to find out but looks like miscarriage here

treacletart · 18/08/2006 21:44

how horrible for you, just read your other thread, im so sorry

Bugmum · 18/08/2006 22:25

Schneebly
Am so very sorry

mammyjo · 19/08/2006 12:48

Oh Schneebly what an awful time for you. Thinking of you today xxx

Bramshott, those army and navy sweets are still helping. Think it must be the strong taste of them as I have the most disgusting taste in my mouth most of the time. If you want some and cant find any I would post you some. Let me know, anything is worth a try when you feel crap!
Have been in work for the last two days and am absolutely knackered. Cant wait for that stage to pass. Have a good day

Treacletart - if it's a girl, I dare you to call it Marshmellow! But what's the betting you end up nicknaming her that anyway?

Buckfyans · 19/08/2006 16:08

I went to the doctor and handed my details in to register with the midwife, but nobody said anything about booking in for a scan? Apart from a nuchal (sp?) scan at 10-12 weeks that I apparently have to pay for, to screen for Downs Syndrome?

How do I book a scan, I mean do I need to ring the hospital?? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is my first baby and I have no clue?

Bugmum · 19/08/2006 17:12

Buckfyans - it varies from region to region; for example, my area offers 12 week dating scans, but some don't. In my area, the MW tells you to ring the hospital 7 days after she sends your details to them. If I were you, I would ring your MW on Monday (or whenever she is in the surgery) and ask. HTH

Buckfyans · 19/08/2006 17:30

Thanks Bugmum. The doctor just said that the midwife would sort it out, but I don't even see her until the 10-12 weeks. I will next week.

oooggs · 19/08/2006 19:42

Hi all and a big welcome to all the newbies - hope you are all well.

Well I have never felt so ill in my life, I am now 6 + 2 and I still feel sick 24/7 and am now being sick or urging a lot as well (sorry if tmi)

I am now off sick from work and am really struggling to look after ds. Thankfully nursery took him for extra hours last week.

This is the first time I have been able to sit up long enough to type a post all week. Seeing the dr on thursday and have a scan on 30/8 - lots of movement and stretching being felt and they want to check it out.
Take Care xx

blossom2 · 19/08/2006 19:45

oooppgs you have amy sympathies. looking about kids whilst pregnant is really really tough.

DDs have never had so much TV over the last couple of days (DH is away) but its getting me through the days. just do whatever it takes to get you through this stage. heres hoping it doesnt last too long

oooggs · 19/08/2006 20:24

thanks blossom - yes ds is having toooooo much tv, but with dh shift work that's all I can do. Having to go and lie down now xx

muminamini · 19/08/2006 20:55

Hi everyone

Gosh alot has happened since I last posted!
Schneebly I am really sorry to hear your news, I am thinking of you.

Welcome to all the new people!

I am 5 weeks today and have known I am pregnant for exactly a week!
When do you stop panicking every time you go to the loo.....I am so worried about bleeding (I bled with DH) but have to just stop thinking about it and be positive.

Feel good at the moment - not been nauseous so much yet and only a bit tired....just wish I was a bit further on....
x

muminamini · 19/08/2006 20:55

I meant DS.....!

schneebly · 19/08/2006 21:23

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and wishes - I appreciate it. Love and best wishes to all of you for a healthy pg and lovely babies.

muminamini · 20/08/2006 08:03

Morning all

Hope you are all feeling better than me this morning. I hardly slept a wink last night...itching inside my ears and the back of my throat and my nose was streaming. Yes, I have a blinking cold....grrrrrrr.

I feel horrible, and I've got my MIL and FIL coming for sunday dinner today as well.

Why is it as soon as you can't take paracetamol etc you get a cold! I've decided if I feel rotten tonight I am going to take tomorrow off to rest as DS is in nursery and I just don't want to take any chances - so lots of fluids for me and lots of loo roll!!!

I'm feeling a bit down today, probably just the cold butjust worrying that I shouldn't have told anyone yet as it is still so early...not alot I can do about it now I know but...

Am quite chuffed though as my DS has slept in his own big boy bed for 2 nights in a row.
I got home on Fri and DH had taken the day off and got a single bed and bed guard for DS as we have been wanting for ages to get him out of his cot. We were prepared for a nightmare and couldn't believe it when he went straight to bed and slept thru and stayed in his room playing till 8am the next morning!
I was sure last night there would be trouble now he realised he could come out on his own...he tried it on once but then - he played for a bit and then went to bed nad slept thru again. I am really chuffed about that. I know not to count my chickens yet but at least we know he can do it and will stand firm if he tries playing up!!!

So the bedroom now has James Big Boy Bed and Baby's Cot for when the time comes...no point taking it down really! It looks so wierd though but nice knowing that we do have space for another!

Well I hope you all have a lovley day - I shall go and sit with my feet up and watch Lazytown (oh the joys of parenthood - for all you first timers...by the end of next year your mastermind subject will be the life and works of CBeebies!!!)
x

liath · 20/08/2006 08:27

Morning!

MIAM - well done to your DS! I suppose we'll have to decide when to do the same with dd or just buy another cot. Sympathies too about the cold, DH and I have had an absolute stinker this week, both coughing our guts up - nice! The joys of having a kid in nursery bringing all the viruses home with her, LOL!

My mum has told ALL her friends that I am pg which freaks me out when I am this early on. I think she's getting a bit over excited as both my sisters are pg as well - we're due in January, March & April!!

Schneebly, how are you feeling this morning, have been thinking of you .
