Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

Pen good luck for today. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Well we have had a laugh already this morning. They have given me some compression socks from the hospital to try to reduce my swollen feet. epic sick fail yesterday trying to get them on, obviously I can't get them on myself so DH has to do it. So hv told us yesterday where we were going wrong. it waa still much more difficult than expected but they are on so will see how I get on. DH did ask if he has to do this every day - erm yes!!!

Morning all hope you're all keeping nice and warm, looks a bit chilly out there!!

The joys of pregnancy eh Sweetie hope the socks work for you.

Good luck Pen I'm going to guess girl!

keepitgoing · 20/11/2013 09:12

Hi everyone, I'm trying not to think about how long it might be before I get more than a two hour block of sleep... But good news!! S put on a really good amount of weight yesterday, so I can relax and go back to demand feeding (was having to top up with expressed milk) as we've cracked the jaundice. Am so pleased.

trix I am meeting the HV for the first time tomorrow. Also got my red book when discharged from Hosp. If you think the HV is too intrusive then you can refuse visits. I love your bump!

sweetie I'm so happy for you re cs!! Here's hoping you don't go into labour before then. Would they do a cs in that instance? Some more laces do, called elective emergencies, but I don't think many. Sounds like a good idea, basically you have a planned cs for when you start labour. But hard to plan etc I guess.

solars sorry about the heart thing. Might it impact on your birth plan?

keepitgoing · 20/11/2013 09:14

maybe I didn't have that, but maker the most of the horniness I'd say. By the end you won't feel like it...

Good luck for today pen!!! Enjoy! :)

ThedementedPenguin · 20/11/2013 11:54

So scan went well, although baby was a little uncooperative. Is curled up into a ball and didn't budge the whole time. Of course baby moved into this position this morning. Everything looked well, however babies head was tucked into chest so they couldn't check face or lips so I've to go back next Wed at 2.30pm. Couldn't find out gender, she tried her best but cord was between legs and baby just refused.

keep great news about the weight gain and jaundice.

keepitgoing · 20/11/2013 15:14

Well done pen, good news, and lovely to get another sneaky look next week.

maybe are you still on the drugs and/or feeling sick? How's work? Can't believe you felt hiccups already, I only did in the last few weeks. Now she has often gets them, poor thing.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/11/2013 15:47

Bad little baby, Pen, keeping you and us on tenterhooks about the sex! FX for it to cooperate next Wed. Did they get you to go eat chocolate and walk about to see if it would change position? Or pee? That happened to me at M's 12 weeks scan, but luckily she moved after I wandered about a bit and ate a Mars bar.

Sweetie, hurray for an agreed CS! And yy to bizarre HV questions. Mine did the post-natal depression score test on me and then said it was obvious just from looking at me that I wasn't depressed. Hmm Yes, because you can tell just by looking at a person. Both DH and DM have suffered from pretty severe depression in the past and you would never know from a brief chat. Grin about the socks - sexy!

Keep, yay for great weight gain and beating the jaundice! Well done you.

Solars, Brooking that your heart problem isn't anything serious.

Grin at Maybe - questions you never thought you would ask!

Stacks, are you lurking? Hope you feel ok and the tiredness is easing up a bit.

Nothing much to report here - still in that stage where it doesn't really feel real. That's probably because no one knows except for DH and I, and you lovely ladies. I feel fatter, but it's hopefully not noticeable to anyone except me.

RubberBullets · 20/11/2013 18:43

What a cheeky one you have there already Pen :)

Anyone else looking forward to Tardis on Sat?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 20/11/2013 19:41

Oh Keep, well done you. That's great news about the jaundice! Have you managed to stop staring at her yet?! I've been really poorly today, so not the best day to comment on it, but the sickness is ok. Going to start weaning off meds. Work, despite telling me to rest keep piling work on, so doing 9 hours straight with no break at the moment. But at least I'm at home.

Pen good news that all is well, keeping everything crossed for a better position next week!

I'm sure no one else will notice Too, I don't miss that bloating in the early days. Was so uncomfy.

Sweetie Grin at your socks. They're impossible to get on at the best of times!! Hope they work their magic though.

Rubber, I'm afraid I'm not a Tardis fan!

Stacks · 20/11/2013 20:18

Still here and lurking. Great to read your updates keep, really glad DD is doing so well, and that you're doing such a great job too!

Glad there's some progress on the CS sweetie, it's important you get the birth you want, not the birth they think you should want.

Sorry you didn't get to find out the sex pen, but woo for an extra scan?

Sorry to hear you've not had a great day maybe, hope tomorrow is better. Have you tried talking to your work and telling them how long it's taking you to complete the work they've assigned? Maybe they think you can work faster than you can, and don't mean to be putting so much pressure on. Particularly if they just see you meeting every challenge, without seeing the hours you're putting in. It's the good thing about being in the office, everyone can see how long and hard you're working, so get a sense of your stress levels.

I should write more really, but I'm still suffering with tiredness. It seems to be much better some days, then worse again others. Had a busy couple of days with DS, so I'm planning an early night tonight, and as DH is out I can go to bed silly early :)

Saw midwife on Monday for booking in which went well, however I've got a couple of things I need to clear up. There's something weird on my medical record, osteo-something, which I need to check on and get removed if it's not true. Midwife called me today with blood test results for my thyroid too, it's still not right. So I've got a new prescription, but it's for the dose I've already been taking / which is double what the dr prescribed before. Need to come clean with him and get it all sorted and on the record. Also, midwife was saying there's no special team or anything for me to be seen by for the thyroid. I just get some extra blood tests and it's all managed by my dr who's already doing a bang up job of doing it wrong. I think I'm going to change dr surgery and have a chat with the new dr about it all maybe, do you think they'd know about a antenatal endocrine team?

Stacks · 20/11/2013 20:23

Oh yes, too, I'm feeling quite fat and bloated too. Really hope it passes soon! How are you doing with tiredness? We should maybe use fb to sort out meeting up? I'd kind of forgotten with all the tired, but I need to get out with DS at least once a day, so meeting up at a soft play would solve that problem for me. It's always nice to have someone other than DS to talk to, and quite rare really.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 21/11/2013 07:47

Have texted you, Stacks. I'm not too tired yet - not the way I remember being last time around. Having said that, the other night DH and I were in bed by 8.40!

What does the blue icon mean, Rubber?

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/11/2013 08:14

Tardis Shock Grin look its a Tardis I LOVE it! Rubber we're very excited here, we have tickets for the 3D cinema showing Grin Tardis

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/11/2013 08:18

Too its a tardis for the Dr Who celebrations Grin Tardis

Stacks you must be seen by the right endocrine team, they have to monitor you and the baby! Where's Dino? She's the one you need!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 21/11/2013 11:45

Grin at Boo. Have Tardis fun!

Stacks, what she said!

SweetieTime · 21/11/2013 13:47

Shock at Too describing Tardis as blue box

Boo Rubber & Sparks I bet you guys are beside yourself with excitement on the Dr Who front

Stacks sorry you are still feeling out of sorts. I would changes Drs if you can, you need to be confident in the standard of care you feel you are getting. Hope the tiredness is only temporary but it might be part & parcel of the thyroid condition too.

Keep lovely to hear DD is doing so well and sounds to be getting over the jaundice

Maybe sorry you are feeling poorly and work continues to stack up, it is so unfair on you. I hope you are looking after yourself, or DH is doing it for you.

Pen what a shame little Pingu wouldn't cooperate but at least you get another scan and chance to see him/her again next week. I love having regular scans, although babies are now so big it is very difficult to see much.

Too is it s lovely secret for you and DH to have. When do you plan on telling people?

Maybe the socks were a nightmare to get on and THE least attractive thing ever but they have done a job. My feet and ankles are almost those of a normal person today. I have been for reflexology this morning so DH got away with not having to put them on for me, although the poor reflexologist lady landed the task instead. She has given me some cervix softening herbal pills to start taking plus says I am good to start on the raspberry leaf capsules. She also recommends eating dates as this also can have the desired effect, she also said to pack dates in my hospital bag as they are a quick energy fix without the sugar spike of chocolate. I have my oil burner on with sweet orange to lift mood and relax me. I don't think these things can do any harm.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 21/11/2013 14:10

Oh wow Sweetie can I come round? That sounds lovely!! I'm glad your feet are better. Hurry up and soften cervix!!

I've only done a few hours work today. Work told me to stop. But I still feel mega guilty Sad

TimeAndRubberBulletsInSpace · 21/11/2013 19:07

Don't feel guilty Maybe, you are growing a whole new person inside you, that's pretty full on without having to work too.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 21/11/2013 20:43

Thanks Rubber loving your new Tardis name Grin

ThedementedPenguin · 21/11/2013 21:04

Too no they didn't try any of that. Think maybe we had been in longer than expected so they just booked us in again. Although I'm hoping as its later in the day, baby will be in a better position. Might bring some chocolate with me and some cold water.

sweetie I apologise now if I come across as very stupid but if you use the raspberry leaf tea capsules and the herbal pills would they try and force you to continue with natural labour or would you get a cs straight away?

stacks you seem to be having a rotten time of it. Is your thyroid under or over active? Or what is the issue. Is there any other drs in your surgery you could see?

maybe do not feel guilty. You can only do as much as you feel up to. Please do not over do it. I pushed myself too far when pregnant with ds, did loads of over time as I was being made redundant and when I finished work I was sick in bed for near 2 weeks.

keepitgoing · 22/11/2013 10:00

Sweetie am also confused. Surely you want to make it to 38 weeks so you can get the elcs, so why the tea etc?

Back over birth weight here :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 22/11/2013 10:09

Well done Keep and babyS!!!

Thanks Pen. Am taking it easy today too Smile

ThedementedPenguin · 22/11/2013 11:22

keep I'm glad I'm not the only one confused.

Great to here S has put all her weight back on.

maybe I'm glad to hear you are taking it easy today, I really should be up and getting both ds and I ready to go away but I can't be bothered.

I'm excited about my night away but tomorrow is going to be such a long day, train is at 7.42am. So need to be ready tonight so I don't have to do anything in the morning but pick ds outta bed and drop him at mums.

SweetieTime · 22/11/2013 11:37

Keep well done to S for gaining back to her birth weight, is she over the jaundice now?

Pen enjoy your night away, hope you have a fantastic time.

Sorry for confusing everyone. I have agreed with the consultant that I will try to labour naturally with the back up of maternal choice c-section now it has been agreed, this is what she has written in my notes. I will be amazed if I get to 38 weeks so want to make sure I am prepared for every eventuality. I suppose I am fearful that I will not be listened to when in labour without this agreed in my notes. Now I have this in writing I feel I can consider the natural option too. If I go into early labour I can request c-section on arrival at delivery, I would wait for any emergency cases to be dealt with first. I appreciate I am a nightmare.

OP posts:
ThedementedPenguin · 22/11/2013 12:01

sweetie you are not a nightmare. It's great that you have that information in your notes. Peace of mind for you.

Have you felt any twinges?
