Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

Love the cot, Trix!

Solars, hurray for a wee boy! Makes the name chat easier if you only have to pick for one sex, too. I was convinced that DD1 was a boy and at the 20 week scan they told me she was a girl and it took me a long time to get my head round it. Weird, because honestly I probably wanted a girl! I'm secretly convinced that this one is a boy, solely on the basis of having had 2 girls already. I shall definitely be finding out!

Sweetie, good luck today! Are they likely to be difficult? I thought with twins a CS was actually preferred due to the higher risks associated with multiple births. I am biased, mind - having had one VB and one ELCS I greatly preferred the CS and actually recovered faster from it, and that's without any tearing etc.

Little, did you see a chiropractor during pg? I was wondering about doing that this time - think it's a fairly safe bet to assume the SPD will come back. Sad Trouble is the price. I am wearing my high-heeled boots today because I know I'll have to give up heels in the near future - last time it was at 10 weeks. I was also wondering about looking for ante-natal pilates. Or normal pilates to begin with and then move on to ante-natal when I get a bit bigger. Dino said that pilates really helped her.

I tried to call the MWs to make a booking appt on Friday. I had to leave a message and I got halfway through leaving said message and couldn't remember my phone number. Blush I went '018...um...um...I can't remember my phone number! My mobile number is xxxxxx'. It was v embarrassing. I hung up and M started playing with the phone and I suddenly realised the number of the MWs had come up again and I thought I heard someone speaking. I grabbed the phone off her going 'give me that!' and hung up, so now I'm worried that at the end of my garbled message they then got lots of toddler squealing and then me shouting at her. Perhaps unsurprisingly, no one has called me back. Blush Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/11/2013 10:22

Oh Too, I bet the MWs are having a proper chuckle at that Grin

How exciting Pen!! Two more days to go!!! And well done on the Christmas shopping!

I'm ok thanks Solars. I eat tired very easily, but I'm managing. The acrobatics in my belly amaze me every day. I felt hiccups for the first time on Saturday. Was amazing.

RubberBullets · 18/11/2013 10:49

Sounds like a case of baby brain there too :o

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/11/2013 13:34

Maybe, soppy Grin at hiccups.

It was totally baby brain! Grr, though - have tried to call MWs 3 times in the last half hour. First time it was engaged and I thought hoorah, someone's actually there. Second time it went straight to answerphone. Third time it rang and rang and rang and no answerphone picked up. I'm hitting redial on my phone so I'm not accidentally calling the wrong number. Grr, what if it was an actual emergency?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/11/2013 13:49

Yay, I got through! It's all change - now you have to ring Maternity Records and they book your MW appt and your scan there and then. My scan's on 7 Jan, which sounds like ages away but actually I'll only be 13 weeks. Booking appt on 4 Dec and it is with my lovely MW, hurray!

SweetieTime · 18/11/2013 16:47

Too glad you got your booking in with lovely MW, 7th Jan sounds an age away but I am sure time will pass really quickly with all the festivities coming up.

Aw Maybe baby hiccups are so sweet. I have only felt them a couple of times so far myself. Did DH feel them too?

Pen well done on the bargain Christmas shopping

Stacks hope you are managing to get some rest, it must be very difficult growing a whole new person and looking after a toddler at the same time. You just lurk away and we will all brook on your behalf.

Too I was convinced I would be having CS too with my age and twins etc.

My appointment today was a bit strange, scan was ok but only to check position of DTs. They are still the same T1 head down & T2 breach. I spoke to the consultant about mode of delivery and she has accepted my concerns but needs me to get a second opinion of another consultant. She wanted me to go to a different hospital in our city this afternoon to see the second consultant. Unfortunately he was full so I have an appointment a 9.30 tomorrow morning. I am now thinking things may be imminent as what is the rush for the second opinion, this might be wishful thinking on my part. Anyway I will see what the second consultant says tomorrow.

I also have the health visitor visit snoop tomorrow afternoon. DH is working from home so we can both see her be vetted I am not sure if we need to offload the very bouncy dog to my parents or just shut her in the kitchen.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 18/11/2013 17:57

It does sound promising Sweetie, they're obviously taking your concerns seriously! Brooking that they agree to a C S! would the second consultant do it or can you have it at the hospital you've been seen at? Also, I think they're rushing because your birth IS imminent! 3 weeks at the most isn't it? Brooking for you.

Too I'm so pleased you're being seen by lovely midwife :)

Evening everyone else, sorry not read back too far but Brooking for you all!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/11/2013 20:18

Sweetie, good luck tomorrow! How weird that you need a second opinion! What happened to the NICE guidelines saying that anyone who wants a CS should be allowed one? And yes, I think Boo has hit it - they need time to book you in for CS so the decision needs to be made now! I also thought that if a baby is found to be breech you usually get an automatic CS and this is not only a breech baby but a twin birth. Hmm

My dog crapped in the house in excitement when the HV came round to vet us. Blush We arrived home 2 minutes behind HV, who was sitting in the drive wondering where we were. I could hear dog barking and knew he hadn't had a proper walk in the morning, so made a quick excuse and ran to let him out, but I was too late. I managed to pick it up fast in toilet roll, but the smell was still there! Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/11/2013 20:44

Oh Too that's priceless!!! Sweetie whatever makes you feel more at ease. When Otis has visitors, he acts like he hasn't had any human contact for months! People must think we keep him locked up!

Brooking extra hard for tomorrow Sweetie. Yes, luckily he did feel the hiccups Smile

Too so pleased you have your lovely MW again!

SweetieTime · 18/11/2013 20:59

Boo I would stay at my original hospital for the actual birth but need a 2nd consultants opinion to meet the Trust requirements. I think they need 2 consultants to agree and sign off the c-section. I have to go back in 2 weeks to see my original consultant, when I am 36 weeks, so I hope they will have decided by then & I get that far.
Too it is T1 that dictates the method of delivery as they are nearest to the cervix. So in my case T1 is head down which means natural delivery. They say T2 will be delivered however it presents, I dread to think what that actually means.

OMG Too I will make sure DH walks the dog for miles & miles before HV comes.

Maybe Otis reaction sound exactly like how our dog is. She behaves like she has never seen a human before in her life.

Maybe glad your DH got to feel the hiccups too.

OP posts:
Solars · 18/11/2013 21:18

It sounds very promising to me too Sweetie. Brooking for tomorrow's appointment! And good luck with the midwife too.

Pen that sounds like a real bargain! I love a good bargain! Looking forward to hearing of your update about the scan. I had more girls names picked out, no boys names. DH only has one and he's says he's not thinking up any more Hmm I'm finding the boy names really hard!

Too excellent you get to see your lovely midwife! And Grin at the phone call and hv visit!

Aww Maybe the hiccups sound so cute!

cartoontrickster · 19/11/2013 09:37

good luck sweetie hope you get your cs.
solars I think boys names are difficult too! I'm sure I'm having a boy just because I can't choose a name!
keep how are you? how is dd doing now?
too you do make me chuckle with your tales Grin .
I've uploaded a new bump pic on here this morning if anyone is interested.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/11/2013 10:28

You're looking amazing Trix!!

Good luck Sweetie!

Funny, we were the other way round with names, really struggling for girls names, but were dead set on a boys name! So maybe your theory is right Trix Wink

SweetieTime · 19/11/2013 16:17

Trix bump looks good lovely, defo pregnant not who ate all the pies!! You look amazing.

Maybe we are sorted with boys names too but have found girls names much more difficult. I think there are too many lovely girls names which makes it more difficult.

Well the 2nd consultant has said yes to ELCS!!!! She was very facts & figures but nice with it and wanted to make sure I was fully informed of the risks from both sides. But she has written it in my notes in big letters and will let my consultant know. I feel like a massive weight has been lifted. I can still try for a natural birth, this is what she strongly suggested, but have the ELCS option as back up. They won't book ELCS until 38 weeks so I think things may happen before then anyway.

Health visitor has been this afternoon too, she seemed very nice. I am now the proud owner of 2 red books. She did ask some bizarre questions. Trix I wasn't asked if DH beats me up but he was sat there. She asked if we had had happy childhoods, what age we left school & do we feel lucky - those we the most bizarre questions I thought. She didn't ask to look around the house, even though I had tidied and cleaned for all I was worth.

I hope everyone else has had such a busy & rewarding day.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/11/2013 16:29

Oh Sweetie I'm so chuffed for you! What a relief!! I hope you can now enjoy these next few weeks without too much worry. Random questions indeed!! We were asked similar things at my booking in appointment. Most bizarre

cartoontrickster · 19/11/2013 16:30

sweetie how strange! they do want to know some odd things. are you being visited again? mines due to come by again next week. perhaps I just seem like a battered wife! I have no idea why, dread to think what she wants to discuss this time. didn't get a red book. is that to keep track of how the twins are coming along when they are born?
so happy you got the outcome you wanted today. it can't be much longer left for you anyway.
thanks maybe and sweetie feel like I've had a bit of a spurt the past week or so and am finally loving my bump! even though I can't get comfy on the sofa anymore

SweetieTime · 19/11/2013 16:38

Trix she visits 10 - 14 days after we get home from hospital. Then when DTs are 6 weeks old, although she did say she could come and weigh them in between if I struggled to get out to baby clinic. I think every new baby gets a red book, it just tracks their health & growth up to 5 years old. You will probably get your next visit.

Getting on & off the sofa becomes a challenge too.

OP posts:
cartoontrickster · 19/11/2013 16:47

I really can't understand why the hv is taking such an interest in me already. she says its because of the misscarriages, like their more likely to make me depressed and unable to cope I suppose. but honestly the only thing putting me on edge is the bloody health visitor. I hope she's not planning on coming every 3weeks.

SweetieTime · 19/11/2013 17:18

I am sure it is just to make sure you are ok and getting the support you need. if it is getting a bit too much tell her to back off or just put off the appointments until when you want them. I am sure she is trying to help.

OP posts:
Solars · 19/11/2013 18:07

Oh wow Sweetie that is excellent news! Those questions by the hv are...umm...very strange. I got asked about domestic violence and assessed for mental health issues at my booking in and according to my notes I think they ask again at my 28 week appointment which is next week and at 36 weeks. Don't know if I'll get a health visitor though?

You have a lovely looking bump there Trix! I find sitting on the sofa very uncomfortable these days too.

I have just come back from a gp appointment and my iron levels are still on the low side of normal so I'm still on the iron tablets until probably after birth now, sigh! She also checked my heartbeat and agreed with MrS about my heart flow murmur so has referred me to a cardiologist, another sigh! I saw my lovely gp this time who was so excited for me (this was the first time I'd seen her since becoming pregnant as she's always difficult to get appointments with) and when she realised my due date was when she's away she was really disappointed!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/11/2013 18:12

Oh Solars, you poor thing. I hope the murmur comes to nothing. And boo to the iron tablets.

Trix I don't even know if we see the HV here before the baby comes. Speaking to friends, they haven't seen them till afterwards, or had a MW do a home visit. I can see why they stress you out though, it's like they are expecting a problem. But you're doing great. Sorry you're not very comfy. Not good.

I need to ask a TMI question. My bits feel like they're massive. Or like I've bee. Having marathon sex sessions. Not sore, just weird feeling. Please say one of you had had this too?! Blush

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 19/11/2013 18:55

Evening ladies, the h v visits are odd and the questions are even worse. I didn't have one when I was having K but the first midwife visit after she did check where we were sleeping.

Maybe tis normal, I felt very swollen down there, apparently it's to do with increased blood flow in the area also made me feel constantly horny Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/11/2013 19:40

Oh thank god Boo, it's not just me Wink

ThedementedPenguin · 19/11/2013 21:59

sweetie great news about elcs. Less stress now. Hoping things go the way you want.

trix you look great. Lovely bump.

I didn't see the hv until after ds was born, can't remember how often they came but it wasn't that often. They came checked ds weight. Discussed feeding and bottles, she was lovely as well. Often came first thing so I was mostly in my pjs.

I haven't put much thought into names. Fingers crossed I find out tomorrow then I'll be constantly asking opinions. My mum asked her angels and they said girl but I think boy so we shall see (she's not a crazy woman, I swear!)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/11/2013 22:09

Good luck tomorrow Pen! Can't wait for scan news!!
