Clever I think that as she confided in you it would be only right for you to do the same x

I was speaking to a friend of mine today who is 34 weeks they have said that her baby is all ready measuring over 8lbs and that she is likely to end up with about a 12lb baby Shock and she is so small bless her she is only about 5ft 4! they have also said the baby has a very big head bless her but my point is she has a BMI of 36 at the moment and they are being quite horrid to her today she was told maybe she should only have one biscuit instead of 3 (the cheeky bloody cows) they have also said that she will need daily blood thinning injections for a week after the baby is born and will have to wear support tights for a month Shock when did that bloody rule come in! my BMI is about 37 at the moment but I have had 3 boys and on all of them I have been big but never have they said this to me if they suggest this to me I will be telling them to bog off! I do think that younger first time mums can be bullied into things I say be strong and know your rights - you can always say no to anything they suggest!

CleverOl10 · 07/11/2013 20:56

Thank you all for the advice. I will definitely speak to her first, away from the others.

CleverOl10 · 07/11/2013 20:58

That's awful seat, really mean. How horrible for the poor girl. My BMI was about 34 with my first baby and he was tiny, so they can't just blame that at all.

BEEwitched · 07/11/2013 21:14

My cousin's wife is really small and thin and her baby was measuring big at around 30 weeks or so and they told her to eat less - there wasn't anything on the girl, eating less wasn't going to be good for her energy levels!

I have a high BMI and big babies run in my family anyway so we'll see what happens, but just look at, e.g., that famous example the Duchess of Cambridge. Teensy tiny girl, big whopper of a future king!

WifeofGru · 07/11/2013 21:28

Hi clever I would tell your colleague in advance. maybe late in the day so that she will be going home soon afterwards. I am sure she will be happy or you, but she will probably be a little sad for herself.
We took a long time to conceive our second child and it got to the point I thought we might not ever have any more and hearing about pregnancies being announced was tough. she will appreciate you telling her separately. Good luck.

CleverOl10 · 07/11/2013 21:30

Thank you wifeofgru

Penguin13 · 07/11/2013 21:53

Finally got my scan letter. Woo! One thing I'm worried about though is that I'll be 13+1 on my scan date of 22 Nov, according to my calculations but I have no idea of the length of my cycle so that could be off. I'm meant to be having the nuchal translucency measurement thing but that can only be done up to 13+6. Do you think I risk being too far along having my scan that late?

hackneybird · 07/11/2013 22:09

Hi clever, yes would be v. thoughtful of you to tell your colleague, I imagine she'd appreciate it. I hope it's not too hard for you!

seat my sil is TINY and all 4 of her babies were 10lb plus. So bizarre. They are all perfectly average sized children now, and a couple are having up to be petite too.

Someone up thread was mentioning the harmony test- I'm having it done at the Fetal Medicine Centre due to my advanced age. Going in for the first part on 18th Nov.

2nd part is the nuchal, so worrying about how I dovetail that with my NHS appointments at the hospital. I don't see much point having an NT scan at hospital as well if I've had one elsewhere as its wasting their resources. I'll ring em tomorrow.

rainbowweaver · 08/11/2013 03:25

More food ideas...
Crumpets cut lengthways in half, with crunchy peanut butter and jam.
Ryebreadwith fresh chopped cherry tomatoes/ onion/olive oil and cheese

Have a vicious meat craving. Beef in particular. Venison too gamy unfortunately.

Bezzabelle · 08/11/2013 07:08

Trouble with crumpets if you are suffering with excessive sickness is that they get awfully stuck in the throat on their way back up! Just a warning if people are bringing back up their food.

GillyBillyWilly · 08/11/2013 07:18

Bleeeehhhhhhhhhh!

LadyGoneGaga · 08/11/2013 07:49

Hackney last time round the NHS in our area didn't offer nuchal so we went private. They just asked that you cancel the 12 week scan appt as no point having two dating scans. First time round I had both (and didn't let on) as just wanted to see him.

Liquidambar · 08/11/2013 07:50

hackney my mw asked me if I wanted to have the nuchal scan. Some people prefer not to have it. It's not compulsory so it means you can have just a dating scan. If you still think this is a waste of time just decline the scan.

wispaxmas · 08/11/2013 08:03

Eww, bezza, I haven't been feeling sick, but the thought of crumpet-sick stuck in your thought just made me heave a little.

GinandStripes · 08/11/2013 08:14

wispa might not be the best time to ask but how was your longed-after chinese takeaway?

MarlenaGru · 08/11/2013 08:28

wispa I blame you for me ordering Chinese last night. Didn't even enjoy it Sad

On a train feeling bleurgh and the couple next to me are making hideous snogging noises Hmm

wispaxmas · 08/11/2013 08:29

It was fabulous, but pretty sure I ate too much. Sorry yours was less than amazing, Marlena..

I'm looking forward to leftovers for lunchGrin

Bezzabelle · 08/11/2013 08:44

Bagels do the same thing.....whereas rice comes straight back up! It's amazing what you have to think about when suffering with hg!

cheesysmile · 08/11/2013 08:56

Errrghhh ... I love crumpets and bagels! Had toast with jam this morning, really hit the spot! Yum!

Have a good Friday people, im counting down the hours til the weekend now.

MTMD · 08/11/2013 09:02

I still swear by kefir, it totally settles my stomach back down :)

Finally some got up to offer me a seat in the train this mirn

MTMD · 08/11/2013 09:04

Grrr!

...morning! :) It makes so much difference! I highly recommend the badge, even though you only get the seat when someone leaves. Everyone else is very busy reading their papers :D

Have a good day!

Bezzabelle · 08/11/2013 09:20

Have booked myself an acupuncture appt today as am now desperate and will try anything to feel better! Anyone else got positive stories about this?

Liquidambar · 08/11/2013 09:23

Hormones hormones. ..
I'm sitting at my desk in tears. Just received an email from my boss that made me feel completely inadequate for this job. There is nothing wrong with the email. The email is written in a very apologetic manner but I can't stop reading between the lines and feel absolutely rubbish.

Emmazers · 08/11/2013 09:36

Liquid Oh no! So sorry you feel bad. I've had random crying episodes over absolutely nothing, so I hope it's just one of those and blows over x

Bezza I've had a couple of acupuncture sessions and it's difficult to know how effective they've been. I think it's helped with energy levels but not sure on the nausea. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

GillyBillyWilly · 08/11/2013 09:44

Haha we had Chinese last night too... I think it was subliminal messages from this thread Grin
