Sorry to hear that you didn't get any action yesterday sarahsbump. Unfortunately only 3% (I think it is anyway!) of babies arrive on the due date, but you get it so set in your head don't you! Good luck for the MW appt tomorrow.

AdelaideS - I'm feeling v.uncomfy today. I spent a long time on my birthing ball on Thu, and ended up with v.sore thighs and bum, and this morning I've woken up with a really sore bump. I think the baby has dropped a bit more, and the skin round my belly button feels like it's going to split open. I'd like to give birth today as my fav. MW is on duty, but that's probably wishful thinking!

I've got my fingers crossed you get your week at home relaxing. My sister arrives tonight, so she will help with DS this week and I can relax a bit more until the baby comes.

hi everyone. toby jack was born safely at 5:10am yesterday morning (24th june). was induced at 5:30pm on friday afternoon, started getting back ache at about 10 o clock, went on the monitor at 10:30 and was checked - 1cm dilated. At about 2:30 was 2cm then at about 4:15 felt the urge to push. mw was adamant i couldn't possibly be ready and thought i needed a poo so there i was thinking i was trying to push out a very awkward and large poo, when suddenly a head appears - was in fact my lovely ds! he was born face up in about 6 pushes and my godmother (birthing partner) got to see his little eyes open for the first time. was in so much disbelief he wasn't a poo i had to feel for his head. after the birth i was so overwhelmed and shocked i was speechless for one of the 1st times in my life. still on a complete high and feel like a 5 year old who stops to tell anyone who will listen about his new bike!hope your ok diddle-isn't RHH lovely. xx

Laura032004 · 25/06/2006 19:18

Congratulations bamboozleslover Glad you had such a good time of it considering you had to be induced Big welcome to Toby Jack. Was that your 1st baby?

Huge congratulations bamboozleslover...love the bit about the 5-year-old with new bike

bamboozleslover · 25/06/2006 22:21

yes he's my first. i love him so so so so so much. haven't had much of him today with all the visitors. missing him a bit!! am quite looking forward to the night feeds so i can have some me and him time. got a bit emotional and tearful today, but i guess thats hormones and tiredness for you. mum was getting stressed with me over some little thing and it all got on top of me. felt a bit like - well i have never actually been a mum before and i'm sorta playing it by ear and feeling as i go!!looking forward to tomorrow, cos won't have loads of people wanting to visit us. that's the problem when you give birth on a weekend i guess!

sarahsbump · 26/06/2006 14:42

Hi all congratulations to the new mums

just been to see the midwife (40+2) and she did a sweep it wasnt very comfortable but not painful, she said it looks favourable and if i have sex tonight things could get going,so when DP gets in at 7pm i will have to jump on him

hope everyone else is well x x

AdelaideS · 26/06/2006 14:56

OMG...don't do that...if you're anything like as hefty as I am you'll completely flatten him and then who will drive you to the hospital?

...although you could use him as a sort of birthing ball...i suppose.

sarahsbump · 26/06/2006 15:02

LOL Adelaides thats a good point
I cant even try seducing him though cos i look as sexy as a beached whale at the moment
Im sure I can tempt him with something though cos I want this baby out now x

trinity1 · 26/06/2006 17:40

Hi all. hope everyone's ok today. Am feeling so tearful as DP has gone back to work today - a 9 day trip to Australia. Have my mum coming round to help out with gorgeous 10 day old DD but it isn't the same. Sorry to bum everyone out. xxx

AdelaideS · 26/06/2006 17:53

Aaaah, trinity, that's tough. Babe will keep you busy though and I bet it will fly by...be kind to yourself.

Laura032004 · 26/06/2006 22:58

bamboozleslover - Hope you've had an easier day today Make sure you stay well rested, and ignore any 'well-meant' comments!

sarahsbump - hope things get started for you soon

AdelaideS - love the idea of DH birthing ball! My birthing ball is a bit mad - it's covered in spikes. They're meant to be massaging - seemed a good idea at the time. In reality they're just too painful to sit on, so I have to cover it with a towel at all times!!!

trinity1 - Hope you're feeling a bit better now Is your mum staying with you, or just coming round? I was really scared to be left with DS at first. Nine days will pass very quickly, but that doesn't help at the time does it? Does he go away often? Make sure you've got lots of easy food in - nuts, bread, cheese, ready meals, fresh pasta and sauces. Anything that you can make quickly. And keep your fluid levels up - it can be hard to remember to eat and drink when you're by yourself.

Well, I'm hoping things have started here. I had a 'pop' in bed last night, and my waters have (I think) been leaking ever since. The MW has checked, and said there was lots of fluid 'up there' and that she couldn't feel the membranes, so I think they've gone. I've had quite a few bloody shows too, so hopefully things are gearing up. I've got 72hrs grace before they'll start hassling me about an induction (not ideal as I'm booked for a home birth at the moment). Fingers crossed that contractions start in earnest during the night. I'm having regular tightenings, but they're not getting remotely painful yet.

happybebe · 28/06/2006 12:06

hello all congrats on the new babies!

i went into labour early morning on the 25th june and baby elsie was born weighing a healthy 6 pound ten at 6.42pm that evening! i had a fantastic labour with a wondeful mobile epidural, no tears or stitches doesnt even hurt to wee was home two days ago but been so busy with my 15 month olds chicken pox and elsie this is the first chance i have had to come on!

hope everyone is doing well and anyone who is still waiting i hope it happens for you soon! xx

blobsmummy · 28/06/2006 15:30

Thanks Laura for sorting me out with the various threads! Hope things are going well for you - good luck!

trinity1 · 28/06/2006 19:04

Laura 032004 - DP does go away a lot. He works long-haul for an airline so he's away at least half the month. I know the separation is probably harder for him as he has two of us to miss now but it can be so emotional, especially now there's DD to look after and 9 days seems to be dragging along at the moment.

My mum lives just around the corner and has been coming round everyday to help out with bits and pieces which has been so helpful as I can go off and get some sleep as DD hasn't worked out how to do that just yet!

Hia everyone.

Congratulations happybebe on the arrival of Elsie Catherine. Sorry, have just realised I put her down as DS - will correct when I update it.

Not much happening here. Still got leaking waters, but no sign of proper contractions yet.

Not many of us left on the awaiting babies section, and I bet a lot of those have popped already and we haven't heard yet. Good luck to anybody else still waiting

Just to let you all know that baby Seren Rebekah Elizabeth was born on 22/06 by emergency c section. I was in labour from Tues 20th early hs of the moning till late Thurs afternoon 22nd. They decided that I wasn't progressing enough as had been 9cm dilated for over 8 hrs, was taken in for a section and they found that Seren had her cord wrapped round her neck 4 times!!! Eek.

She is now home and we are both well, if a little sore in places. Noone could've prepared me for how wonderful it feels to see her and have her at home with us. All the pain and stretchmarks were worth it...I'd do it again tomorrow.

bubbly1973 · 29/06/2006 16:22

rachel, congratulations...love the name seren, its welsh isnt it...little star?

mil wanted us to have that name if it was a girl, but dh wanted serena...but we had a boy instead lol
