I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

stats thread for new folks

maazaa - what;s your fave boys name? go on tell... go on go on go on go on......

MaybeBaba · 14/08/2006 20:21

Evening to all! Just back from my Nuchal scan at the local hospital - it was great to see the buba (yes there is really one in there!!) Won't get results for a ew days as they have to be sent down to the fetal centre in London. Took mum and dd with me - both were blown away by seeing bubs on screen - dd keeps patting my belly (or boob if she forgets!!) - so it was good or her to see it.

She broadcast the news on her return to nursery today - which was funny as the other mums kept coming up and congratulating me! Will tell work next week - maybe!!

maazaa · 14/08/2006 20:38

That is so cute, MaybeB!!!!! How old is your daughter again? I should read the stats thread again - thanks Sshhh!!!

As for boys names, we love Noah. I'm ready for the mixed opinions.......!!!

MaybeBaba · 14/08/2006 22:10

DD is 4 going on 40 and this buba is due around her 5th birthday! Could have been worse as SIL pointed out - if she was 3 then they would have had their 18th and 21st birthdays at the same time!

maazaa · 14/08/2006 22:34

A very expensive year if that had been the case MaybeB!

Ladies, I tried this for a laugh tonight and then put in EVERYONE I know and it all came out correctly....spooooooooky!!!! Have a go if you haven't done one already....

gender predictor

sshhh · 15/08/2006 08:43

maazaa, love the name noah - just don't think i'd have the guts to go for it.... but it certainly is becoming more popular & have you seen the babe of a noah who sometimes does the last storytime on cbeebies? yummy!!

soundbites · 15/08/2006 10:07

Firstly welcome newcomers - lovely to have you join us.

Noah is a great name Maazaa - and I like names that are a bit unusual. Just check it works with your surname etc. Go for it! You are in good company with Gwyneth Paltrow's little boy called Moses. I wouldn't be surprised if the old biblical names get resurrected. I know someone my age called Joshua and when he was born it was a radical name, now it is one of the most popular. Funny how names change in popularity. DH and I went through the name book last night actually and to our surprise the girl's name we have liked from the start has slipped to second place. We have struggled a lot more with a boy's name. That gender predictor suggested it was a girl anyway so maybe it will all be alright! It is exciting, but such a responsibility. I hated my name as a child, like it now though as I don't know any others with it ?

maazaa · 15/08/2006 10:22

Gender predictor says we are having a boy! Obviously will take it with a pinch of salt!

CurrantBun · 15/08/2006 10:58

I love the name Noah. Not sure DH would go for anything like that - he tends to like more traditional names. I read somewhere (it may have been on here) that if you're struggling to think of names for one gender it means your baby will be the opposite gender. We can't think of boys' names yet there are a few girls' names we both like - the gender predictor says we're having a girl so we'll see!

I don't mind either way to be honest - as long as it's healthy.

julezboo · 15/08/2006 11:33

I like the name noah

We have pretty much decided on Emily Grace for a girl or Alex Phillip for a boy! We veetoed alot LOL

Feeling yucky today got my scan in the morning and Im terrified!!! Wish me luck x x x

maazaa · 15/08/2006 11:36

I really don't mind either - I thought I would have a preference but it's true that all you want is a healthy happy baby. To be honest, after the scan, I'll be relieved that I'm not giving birth to some form of crustacean!

Today's top girl name for us is Alexandra (Lexie for short, followed by Alex, when she wants to be a trendy teenager. No doubt it'll change tomorrow! 191 days to go!

maazaa · 15/08/2006 11:37

Good luck julez!!!! Let us know how it goes!

sorkycake · 15/08/2006 13:05

I quite like Noah, but we have decided on Xanthe (girl) or Luca (boy). I know it's a boy tho'
As you may have deduced from those names we do not subscribe to the traditional name choices. My other 2 have slightly unusual, but very beautiful names too.
Good luck Julez!

tara29 · 15/08/2006 14:03

hello everyone, haven't posted in a while, hi to everyone new & nice to see lots of good news. I had my scan last week and due date is now back a day to 18th, & all looking well- the detail was amazing, and baby was lolling around with its arms behind its head so I'm flying in the face of the gender predictor & predicting a boy
The name game is a tricky one, I'm finding it much easier to come up with names for cats I might own one day (Gaston & Alphonse) than settle on possible baby names. Last time we had a girl's name all sorted, so obviously DS was born at 7 am. We've had a look, lots of girls names we like but boys names are tricky, I love Noah too but DP says no way, he has Elvis at the top of his list.... help.

julezboo · 15/08/2006 14:28

Elvis - poor you hun stick to your guns!!

DP had mustafa on top of his list, I didnt even believe it was a name till i read a names website and there it was! I soon got him off that idea though!
Tara - sounds like a boy lolling about like that!

I need to do something to calm myself down, I cant stop shaking, after so much bad news and loss since dec Im having a hard time believing that this one is going to be ok, its the furthest we've got since ds, we have lost at 5 weeks each time! MC sucks!!

I met dp for lunch for cuddles, I keep crying for nothing lol nerves setting in! Hes trying his best though bless him, just keeps getting snapped at.

Is anybody else getting sharp twinges down near their ovaries?? Ive had it on and off since yesterday and its making me worry more!

sorkycake · 15/08/2006 14:31

Elvis! Surely that's as taboo as calling your son Jesus?
Mind my kids have weird names so I can't really comment, but even I would draw the line at Elvis!
Have you had your scan yet Julezboo?

flowertot · 15/08/2006 14:42

Oneof my nephews is Noah. Must admit I found it hard to get used to at the start but its beginning to grow on me now as he becomes a real person!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone, appreciate it. Am staying at a fiends with DD because I need some space, things still not great. Major understatement. Probably won't post much as its such a happy positive thread and I do not feel that way at all. However scan on Friday so hopefully that will cheer me up

julezboo · 15/08/2006 15:14

SC - my scan is in the morning at 9:30am, consultant appt is 9:50am! I just cant wait to get it over with!

Julie x x 12+6

CurrantBun · 15/08/2006 16:45

Good luck tomorrow Julez - we'll keep everything crossed for you. Let us know how you get on!

My scan is on Friday and I'm also getting very nervous. This is my first pregnancy (no m/c's thankfully - at least, not so far) and I'm half expecting them to say there's nothing in there and I've imagined it all! Although I've hated the sickness and nausea, in a way it's been reassurance that I really AM pregnant and not just making it all up!

Will be glad to get the nuchal scan out of the way though - just praying we're not high risk for Down's and I'll have to go for further testing.

maazaa · 15/08/2006 17:05

flowertot - please feel you can chat to us if you want to....it's such a long time until next Feb that we'll all go through ups and downs, as life throws things at us. Or we could start a group chat thread for non-pg chat? x

flowertot · 15/08/2006 20:35

I am talking to family now about our problems which I never have before so that is a great start and help for me. I feel so so low that I have failed my DD and this poor baby before it is even born. It is the stupid cliche of thinking everything would be ok if only we had another child, Stupid stupid me. I just can't work out whether its better to stay together for the children adn just try and live as harmoniously as we can so they at least have a mummy and a daddy, or leave so that I am at least happy and relaxed and they will feed off that. Its such a mess.......SOrry should move to relationship thread, not appropriate for here, will go take a look

sshhh · 15/08/2006 21:45

flowertot - so sorry things are tough for you....

julez - all the best for your scan tomorrow.

julezboo · 16/08/2006 15:16

Flowertot - Im sorry your having troubles at home, I hope you ca reach a decision on what to do, sending hugs your way.

My scan went well - they put me at 13+2, baby waslifting its bum up in the air and kicking his legs about, my ds was so happy to see it. I was at the hospital for 4 hours!!! They were 3 doctors down apparently then NOONE could get blood out of my arms , so i had to wait for a doctor who couldnt do it either, so after being stabbed 5 times I have to go back and get them all done again!

My 20 week scan is booked, I fell happy to be treated like a normal pregnant lady now rather than a "special case" LOL

Oh I have been referred to a blood specialist so they can moniter my heparin levels because of the injections, not sure when x x

Hope everyone else is ok x x x

maazaa · 16/08/2006 16:05

Glad it went well Julez, very exciting!!!! (except for the pincushion business!) Hopefully you can relax a little bit now, which will be better for you and the little one!

babycheese · 16/08/2006 16:11

Hi there everyone,

Don't feel as uncomfortable now that there are a few more new people on here. Felt a bit like a gatecrasher everyone has been talking for ages which is lovely. wish I had joined in sooner.

Anyway wickymum you have same due date as me 10/2/07 and nice to see you have a daughter same age as mine. How have you been finding coping with your daughter and sickness? Its been hard work for me my daughter is on the go all the time its been hard on her when mummy has had head down toilet.

For all the girls who still have sickess i pledge my sympathy. Still puking and it is rank. Had a nasty episode with a navel orange yesterday not impressed as I was actually craving oranges.

Word of advice don't go to tesco mid afternoon cos it is a bad move when pregnant! Went in for nappies and cheese and ended up buying lots of things I was craving (including the oranges!)Felt slightly neurotic at checkout as I had to stop myself looking at what everyone else had!!
Will do the gender profile, think it is a boy at the moment so that will be interesting.

Have a lovely afternoon/evening everyone.
