I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

katsh, so so sorry.

got my scan date through for 24 august when i'll be almost 14 weeks! can't believe it's so late. i'm going to have to change it tho as that is my first day back to work after 8 1/2 weeks holiday... i really wanted (and expected) the scan to be beforei went back to work. grrr

i'm 10+1 today. i'm feeling really tired and sick at the mo. it's not at all pleasant, but at least i'm not having to be at work.

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 13:31

Hi ladies,

How are you all today?

10+4 here, have scan on Saturday at 11+2, really looking fwd to it although the last one was at 12+5 so not sure if it will be as clear IYSWIM. Rather than just being nauseaus have been sick quite a lot, last night was the worst and ended up in bathroom for pretty much most of the evening. Trying to be very positive and enjoy PG and be thankful and grateful but unfortunately with DS and everything else to cope with in the day can't help moaning from time to time. Ah well, happy days are here again...

ChaCha 10+4

sorkycake · 31/07/2006 18:17

Hooray!!
Had scan today, clear as a bell & wriggling all over. Single viable fetus, god I love that phrase.
I'm due on the 6th Feb according to scan and will be 13 weeks tomorrow.
Baby is a boy! It was very clear on the monitor and although both hubby and I said "ooh look it's a boy" the sonographer laughed and said we would find out until the 20 week scan for definite and that she wouldn't comment this early, but it was definitely a boy!!
So thrilled!! Got 5 scan pics. It was the best scan appt we've ever had, staff were brilliant, no waiting, hubby in from the start and a huge monitor to look at in front of us, excellent service.
Hope everyone's having a great day

ChaCha · 31/07/2006 19:39

Very, very happy for you Sorkycake You sound thrilled as you should be! Congrats!

peachygirl · 31/07/2006 20:22

wow sorkycake what good news !!

sshhh · 31/07/2006 21:32

wow sorkycake! fab news! fantastic. can't believe you could see it was a boy at this early stage, gosh!

Tommy · 31/07/2006 22:24

great news sorkycake!
I have absolutely no wish whatsoever to find out baby's gender - I didn't with the DSs - which was quite tricky when I had a scan at 39 weeks with DS1! The sonographer kept the screen towards him so we couldn't see by mistake.
Glad to hear it went well

TuttiFrutti · 01/08/2006 09:12

Fantastic news sorkycake!

I don't want to find out the sex either, but am very curious and couldn't help looking last time! This time round I'm having the scan done at the Fetal Medicine Centre in London, which I suspect will have better quality monitors than the ones at our local hospital, so I may get a better view! Am going on my own though as dh can't get time off work, so will keep it to myself if I see anything.

TuttiFrutti · 01/08/2006 09:29

Have just found out my SIL is pregnant, due a week before me, but has kept it quiet till now. This is a bit wierd because we were recently on holiday together and I kept saying how tired I felt being pregnant, how tight my clothes were getting etc and she never once let on she was in the same boat. I know I couldn't have done the same, but each to her own...

But more importantly, it's lovely that new baby will have a cousin exactly the same age.

bunny3 · 01/08/2006 12:16

i had my nuchal scan yesterday and the risk of Downs was adjusted from 1:70 (based on my age only) to 1:350 so well chuffed! with dd, I was told we were at very high risk of Downs and it was awful, made the pregnancy really hard so I was dreading my scan yesterday but I am very happy now!

Still feel like puking though .... arghhhh

Sorky, glad it went well - must be well-endowed for you to spot it at 12 weeks !!!

peachygirl · 01/08/2006 12:30

Bunny good news about your scan.I'm just pottering on here waiting for mine. Going to see my parents tomorrow for a few days so that will speed things up. They have a John Lewis where they live and I might have a sneaky look at baby equipment!

ChaCha · 01/08/2006 12:41

Great news Bunny

Tuttifrutti - WoW...must have been difficult for her to keep it quiet when she knew she was too, and yes, will be fab for the kids being so close in age, that's lovely! You also have someone close to compare notes with i suppose - nice.

I found out DS's gender at the 20 week scan and will be doing so again this year. Only difference is I won't tell anyone this time, not even grandparents - he hee!

Have just walked a long way to buy a samosa, yum yum which i've washed down with a lovely fizzy passion fruit...i so hope i keep this down, I needed it!

babydriver · 01/08/2006 12:42

Hi everyone! I hope you're all feeling a little better this week. Catching up on the posts from the end of the last week it sounded like it had been a long, hard week for lots.

At 13+6, I've pretty much got past the nausea stage and am usually not as overwhelmingly tired as before (tho' still more tired than usual) so hope others will see the light at the end of the tunnel - or porcelain - soon!

I treated myself to a few new maternity clothes last week as last time round DS came early Nov so I just about brazened it out in summery stuff & tracky bottoms which is no good for this pg. Am wearing the new trousers today and v comfy they are too.

Interesting to see others' birth experiences. I had a 42hr labour last time eventually ending up with ventouse delivery (sorry if this is scary, first timers) so really really hoping that no 2 will be much quicker! Wd be interested to hear what others did to prepare for birth, but probably not worth getting into that until we're all a bit nearer the time and feeling a bit better.

sorkycake · 01/08/2006 20:13

Babydriver I'm feeling okay so I'll chat birth stories with you.
1st - 22.5 hours long, in hospital for 16 of those with v.distressed baby, failed ventouse, painful episiotomy and eventual natural delivery as epidural wore off.

2nd - home birth, no pain relief needed at all as used a birthing pool in living room. Fabulous!! Slight tear but healed itself.

3rd - pg now and plan the same birth at home, for the moment.

Being stitched with no local after the epi has worn off is the single most painful thing I have ever endured!

Could talk for hours about births but thought I'd keep it short & sweet, btw I do love giving birth, it's definitely the best bit!

shanks313 · 02/08/2006 00:36

Has anybody else had this?

Im 10 weeks and the GP never tested me to see if Im pregnant, just took my word for it.
When I went for the midwife appointment, she never tried to hear a heartbeat or prodded or anything like that.
Even though I have had a miscarriage before, just got over cyatitis and got raised blood pressure, didnt put me in for an early scan and I still have to wait till almost 13 weeks for one.
This is my first baby and so far I have no indication that Im pregnant except the sickness and tiredness.

peachygirl · 02/08/2006 08:46

Shanks I've had a slightly similar experience. This is also my first pregnancy (except my Gp did do a PG test) but my appointment with the midwife was very similar and she even said 'I'm not going to do anything as you are too early and many women don't even know they are PG at the point you are' Which in hindsight I have found to be slightly uncaring and to be honest a little offensive. She didn't even ask how I wasgenerally feeling.(I may be being over sensitive about this)I will be 12+3 when I have my scan but since I was put down to high risk I was qute surprised at how long it semed to take to get the letter.
I've also got only a few symptoms, boobs only sore when poke them Although they are much bigger! Still no AF, but not really feeling queasy at all (sorry to those ladies that have been really poorly) I'm still tired but this has improved since the holidays begun.
I go through real phases of thinking I'm going to get the the hosp next week and they are going to tell me it's all over, But then I also have really excited phases thinking of how the future will be. I do think this is normal though, there was a similar thread a couple of weeks ago in pregnacy here
I'm off to my parents now so won't be online for a few days. Hope everyone keeps well, good luck for any scans.
Apologies for the long post!

Tommy · 02/08/2006 11:28

I've always thought it was funny how the health professionals take our word for it when you're pregnant. It's such an inexact science though isn't it? - especially in the first few weeks.
Shanks - at 12 weeks the MW might not be able to hear the heartbeat anyway.
It's such a worrying time and no=-one can reassure you!
Hang in there

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2006 11:55

they take our word for it because the pregnancy tests you buy are at least as sensitive, if not more so, than the one doctors have

Mine insisted on sending a urine sample off to the hospital 'for our records' but I had to wait until after 5 weeks to do it as the urine tests they use at the hospital are less sensitive than a HPT! slightly pointless I think...

don't think midwifes listen to the heartbeat this early on - and if you read this thread shanks you'll see that it's fairly unusual that you've even seen a midwife yet!
They give early scans generally only for bleeing etc. If you are anxious because of a previous m/c sometimes they will give you an early scan to put your mind at rest, I suspect that, as per usual, you prob have to be quite pushy to get one though. TBH, there's not a lot that any medical person can/will do for you in the first trimester, in my experience they're generally not very interested in you at all, which is gutting when you're really excited/worried about it.

until you get that first scan it is very easy to feel like it's all pretty unreal, and it's also very common to think that you'll turn up at the scan and they'll tell you to go away and not be so silly, or course you're not pregnant. I hope your scan is soon and your mind will be put at rest

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2006 11:56

ooh have just seen you have to wait another 2 weeks...it will pass eventually, I know it's rubbish waiting.

ChaCha · 02/08/2006 12:22

Hi Mrs JC - How are you? Hope all is well. Always smile when I see that name, just reminds me of my teenager years and the film 'Say Anything' that i really loved Great name.

I gave my GP a urine sample when i went to the surgery and told her i'd had 2 positives already. She tested it again and said 'yes, definitely PG congrats' and that was that, not to be seen again until this Saturday for a scan but I had a private one to put mind at rest for many reasons. It's such a waiting game at this point - hang in there!

Still very tired here and still being sick, bump beginning to show quite prominently, much faster than with DS. Symptoms are exactly as before, even have a dry patch under eye, spot on leg and heat bumps on thumb that i had last pregnancy, i find that totally bizarre!!

How is everyone else? How are those with subsequent pregnancies coping with the day to days? I managed to cook a good home made meal yesterday with all the trimmings etc. and was really pleased with my efforts, today however, will be lucky to bung some marinate in the oven.

Well at home today trying to get things done, see you all later.

Peachy - Have a great rest at your folks!

julezboo · 02/08/2006 12:47

Afternoon all

ChaCha, i seem to be showing much quicker than I did with ds!

Ohhh I hit 11 weeks today and so far so good! We had another scan at 10 weeks and baby is fine! Injections are starting to hurt though, guess Ill get used to them!

Im feeling exhausted and sicky all the time now. I cant stand the smell of anything, just talking about them now I have my sick bowl close by! My next appt isnt till the 16th aug either! Ages away!

How is everyone else doing x x x

gigglinggoblin · 02/08/2006 14:38

well i had 1st mw appt today, am 11.3 weeks. really wanted to hear heartbeat as i dont feel i can tell anyone til i do but she wouldnt even try i know its hormones but i just feel really weepy now. have had lots of mixed feelings about this pg and got all psyched up to tell people and now i cant til scan in 2 weeks, which means i dont want to see anyone because im starting to show. wish i hadnt gone, except if i didnt i wouldnt have got scan date. sorry for being miserable, dp has gone back to work and i want to tell someone

JennyLee · 02/08/2006 14:56

empathise with you, nurse sounds like an ass, she should have let you hear the heartbeat. Hope you feel better

suzi2 · 02/08/2006 15:15

shanks that's quite normal. I've had a private scan and have a doppler so have heard the heartbeat, but as far as the NHS is concerned, they have no proof whatsoever that I am pg. Doctor didn't ask about my positive test even - I just said that I was pg and she took my word for it. My scan is next week when I'm nearly 12 wks by my previous scan dates, but closer to 13 wks by NHS ones. 13 wks is about the normal for a dating scan I think. You had a positive test, you haven't had periods or bleeding and you have symptoms of pregnancy so I think it's safe to assume everything is OK. But I know how worrying it is. You may be able to call the hospital with your worries and see if they'll pull that scan date forward a week or so - definately worth a try.

gigglingoblin - in my experience mw's are very reluctant to go looking for the heartbeat before about 14 wks. the reason is that they can be hard to find and then that would panic you. I know that it can take me a few minutes to find the heartbeat with my doppler and that is probably about a few minutes longer than a mw would attempt for! Try not to worry.

11wks today by my earlier scan. And I felt nauseous this morning, but now I feel fine! whey hey!!! I'm ravenous though and as soon as DS gets up from his nap, I'm going out to get more food! I'm dying for a McFlurry (which I NEVER eat!) and can't decide whether or not to take the risk as it's a 'not in pregnancy' food. I'm sure it would be fine, but then if it wasn't I would feel awful! Might just need to eat an entire lemon meringue pie instead

titchy77 · 02/08/2006 16:39

I feel exactly the same as mrs jc, really dont think they are interested untill 2nd trimester. i've seen my gp 2x he didnt confirm pregnancy, asked for a reasurrance scan as had missed m/c before, got my booking in app for hopital end of august and had my 12wk scan last week. haven't even seen or spoken to a mw yet!! my notes have not been filled out or anything.
