I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

it's amazing how it's all so different isn't it depending on where you live?
We've only just started getting 9 week scans here. Last time I only had a 20 week one

maazaa · 02/08/2006 21:44

Hello All!

Back from Devon! Had a lovely anniversary weekend only to return to quite a lot of stress caused by MIL - massive rows between her and DH and I have found it all really stressful. Had a migrainy headache since last night, which I am sure is partly tension.

Nausea seems to be officially over (which is a bit scary...). Had scan, as you know, last week, which put me back to 9+5. It makes me 11 weeks tomorrow and now nausea has subsided, I'm wishing I'd waited for scan to be this week or next, around the 12 week time so it would have been nearer "the safe time". Obviously now nausea has gone, I'm thinking little heartbeat has stopped too, but I've had no other symptoms to suggest this. Soooo paranoid.

Have we discussed dreams yet? Anyone having freaky weird ones? Mine are very epic at the moment. However, last night's was the best yet. I gave birth to a baby boy and was breast feeding for first time, when the baby turned to me and said (yes, it spoke) in a Nicky-from-Big-Brother-style-voice, "I don't LIKE your milk. TAKE it away. I simply don't like the taste". This was then followed by some uncontrollable spurting of milk which seemed more like Dairylea Squeezable in consistency. Sorry, too graphic I realise. Have been freaked out all day!!!!!

maazaa · 02/08/2006 21:52

Regarding GP confirmation of PG - I am another who (up until the scan) could have been seriously deluded as everyone believed me and my word that the hpt's had been accurate. It does beg the question that, obviously not in our cases, but there must be women who have phantom symptoms or indeed make it up (not sure why, but you never know!). I think, like so much in life presently, patients are sometimes just another inconvenience. A friend recently had a nightmare when a test showed up some concerning results and she needed a follow up, but couldn't see GP for 10 days!!! She begged her maternity unit who said no, looked into private and that was a no go and went back to MU, burst into tears before they rustled up an appointment. In the meantime, much stress not needed in late PG had ensued. Reading down the thread, there's been some good experiences but also lots of poor, robotic service. Sadly, it won't be the practitioners faults, just them being victim of their pressures and systems.

Sorry, get me off my soapbox!

suzi2 · 03/08/2006 07:49

maaza - my dreams haven't been too vivid this time around, but with DS I was having, ahem, 'erotic' dreams most nights! Wasn't complaining as they definately beat the ones when you dream you're being chased by a giant lion!

babydriver · 03/08/2006 09:20

Hi to everyone. Thank goodness for the support of mumsnet, given that the NHS hasn't really swung into action yet for most, by the sound of things. It does (usually) get better by the end of the pg and for the birth, but it's the first few months especially for the first time where you really need some reassurance I think. I wish I'd had mumsnet last time.

maazaa, I had really vivid dreams with my last pg. Only had one or two so far with this one but I seem to remember they mainly came later on. They were quite wierd and amazingly detailed. Sorry about the MIL by the way. Family, don't you just love 'em...

sorkycake, thanks for letting me know abt your previous pgs. I really really hope that second time round will be much easier for me like yours was - and that you have a brilliant third. I didn't find my first especially traumatic, just very long. Too much of a scaredy cat to go for home birth but they now have birthing pools at my local hospital so I'm very keen to have a water birth if at all poss.

Tommy · 03/08/2006 09:26

suzi - I remember erotic dreams when I was pg with DS2 - particularly one rather nice one featuring Darren Jordan (reads the news on BBC)- I still can't watch him without feeling a bit
Had one last night but it was about a boy I was at primary school wih which wasn't quite so nice.....
Wonder why you get erotic dreams while pregnant? In RL, nothing could be further from my mind!

maazaa · 03/08/2006 09:56

If nobody feels like answering this, I won't be offended, but am I the only one to be avoiding all kinds of amourous contact (except the odd kiss and cuddle) from DH? I just can't summon up the interest and feel a bit bad. Midwife said it was safe to bd (what do we call it if we have a bun in the oven already?!) but it just feels wrong-diddly-wrong! Am I a prudish wench?

HappyDaddy · 03/08/2006 10:01

maaza, dont worry. My DW, as most pregnant ladies are, was knackered and pretty ill for the whole pregnancy. The lack of nookie didn't do us any harm.

Tommy · 03/08/2006 10:44

feel exactly the same maazaar! It feels a bit weird especially since we've been at it for a whole year trying to conceive!!
I've promised Dh that once we get the scan done and we know everything's OK, we can do it again

cadbury · 03/08/2006 10:55

Maazaa - I'm off it too - I was actually relieved when I saw the midwife and epac scanning person when I was spotting and they said - leave off the sex - phew I thought, an excuse! Actually, I went off sex with both previous pgs - tried it with second but it felt wrong - poor dh! He's really missing it now - it's weird, our relationship seems to be on a really good footing at the moment after a very dodgy year, but physical initimacy part still leaves me cold and him wanting.

On another sunbect - snorky, we have the same due date now - they've changed mine again after a scan yesterday - am the 6th Feb (which is what originally thought!). I'm now 13 + 2 and had been feeling a lot less nauseous until Tuesday night - picture the scene. Our wedding anniversary, dh buys and cooks this lovely dinner, I allow myself a small glass of wine too, all very romantic. I take a few mouthfuls and have to run up stairs and talk to the Almighty on the great white telephone!!! First time this pregnancy - doubt it will be the last. I'm feeling much bigger now even though I'm still loosing weight myself - nice to know that the baby is growing steadily.

Dreams - I'm having some horribly vivid dreams - too nasty to decribe but they leave me thinking about them all day afterwards. Looking forward to not having those anymore.

Better go - midwife coming soon,
cadders xxx

babydriver · 03/08/2006 12:52

I've also not felt like BDing, far too tired in the evenings and simply no inclination. Oddly though, on the few occasions when we have done it cos I reckoned DH needed to be kept happy, it's been really good. Something weird going on.

Cadbury, snorky, I can vouch for 6 Feb being a good date as that's my birthday. I might end up having a baby birthday gift too, with EDD on 3 Feb, 3 days late wouldn't be surprising.

Nonyummymummy · 03/08/2006 20:25

Hi everybody - am 40 with a dd of 22 months and am expecting no.2 on 3rd Feb next year.
Had the nuchal scan this week and looks good apparently.
Am I the only person who doesn't believe she is really pregnant until she sees the first scan!
Had a CS with DD due to "lack of progress" but hopefully going for a VBAC this time round.

sorkycake · 03/08/2006 21:11

Cadbury we have lots in common it would seem. Both 32, due on the same day with our 3rd babies, running a toddler group. Bet you're as pleased as I am that it's the Summer?
Babydriver I agree entirely re: the not really wanting too have sex particularly, but when we do it's fab!
Since turning the second trimester corner I've been much happier and amorous, which means dh is happy too.
The dreaming is weird isn't it? I had a one on Tuesday night that made me wake up crying! Dh had told me he didn't love me anymore and was having an affair with someone at work. Situation and dream was so real that when he cuddled me up and told me it was a dream I found it so hard to believe he was in bed next to me. I was upset that it niggled me all that day tbh.

Just remembered, last pg dh leaned on me and squashed my face under his shoulder, (we have a 7ft bed and he chases me to the last 2 inches of side cos he has a need to be touching a part of me in order to sleep), anyhoo, I had a dream I was being kidnapped and as he leaned on me I dreamt someone was smothering me, I bit down as hard as could and he screamed out loud, which in turn woke me up and I screamed then started to cry with the shock. He had a huge bruise for days and a row of teeth marks on his back. We laugh about it now! Well, I do, hahaha!!

sorkycake · 03/08/2006 21:13

Welcome nonyummymummy!

TuttiFrutti · 04/08/2006 08:45

Welcome nonyummymummy! Love the name.

I had a c-section too last time, and "failure to progress" was written on my notes after 23 hours of labour although there were lots of other reasons too. I'm going for an elective c-section this time though.

maazaa · 04/08/2006 08:51

Welcome nonyummymummy!

Spanna · 04/08/2006 13:05

Hi, can I join you? I am due 4th of Feb (I think they said - the Mummy Brain is particularly bad)
I am 37, and this is my 4th pg.
DD is 4.5 (born by ECS after a very long labour + failure to progress - stuck at 8cm).
DS is 2 (opted for a home birth after previous awful hospital experience, but transferred to hospital due to slow progress. Couldn't push him out, ventouse didn't work, so 2nd ECS).
I had a mc in march at 7.5 weeks.
So far I have had an early reassurance scan at 10 weeks, because I asked my GP for a referral, saw midwife at 11 wks (laughed at her when she said I couldn't eats prawns, though!!) and an antenatal clinic scan at 12 weeks.
Will have to have a 3rd CS due to 2 previous, but this is fine as I don't have child-bearing hips, clearly.
Felt pretty grim for 2 months but am over the nausea now, thank goodness. I have been telling people at work as the lack of abdominal muscle tone means I am already showing (especially after lunch).
Very interesting to read your comments. 2 points - the midwife said they don't listen to your baby early on as the uterus is still in your pelvis so you wouldn't hear it. You can only hear it when it gets out of your pelvis at ??12-15 weeks?? (can't remember, sorry). Also Imagined Disappearing Baby Syndrome is quite common in my experience. I have had 2 scans and won't really be happy my baby hasn't died till I can feel it moving every day!!

babydriver · 04/08/2006 13:32

welcome spanna and nonyummymummy. I've lost track of how many of us there are on this thread, but it seems like loads. The midwives are going to be very busy next spring!

know what you mean about wanting to feel the baby spanna. I've been kidding myself that I can start to feel it but I know it's still a bit too soon. (I'm 14+3, same due date as nonyummymummy.)

MrsJohnCusack · 04/08/2006 13:34

hello all new people and congratulations to everyone
I don't post here much - feeling so grotty still (MUCH worse than last time) that I can't bear to describe it. still, 11 weeks today so maybe will feel better soon? also having a stressful time trying to organize NZ move, generally restricting myself to inane and frivolous threads on here to cheer myself up!
think my scan will be the week after next - don't get given the date until my booking appointment on the 12th

MaybeBaba · 04/08/2006 19:28

Evening all and welcome to the new people! Been to Wales for a short break - weather a bit hit and miss, but off to Spain tomorrow! Should have spent the day packing but went for bloods this morning and fainted in the car park - now got two bruised knees, a worried DH and DD! Haven't suffered any effects, but spent 3 hours at garage getting window of car fixed as it was stuck open (not related incidents but worried what third thing will be!)

Got nothing to wear for hols, but private pool and villa so will slum around in the two or three outits that fit!

Will be back next week!

Tommy · 05/08/2006 13:59

hi everyone - still feeling really grotty as well (also 11 weeks yesterday). In fact - have spent most of this morning asleep
I assumed it was going to get better by now...

Sparkler1 · 05/08/2006 20:25

bunny3 - I've been hunting you down and found you! Been wondering how you are getting on. Fantastic news about the scan. really happy for you. xxxx

peachygirl · 05/08/2006 22:15

Hi all
Big hello to new ladies!
I have had a great time at my parents, very relaxing, I did lots of shopping, mostly sale stuff for my hols - especially pleased as they under charged me in M and S! I did buy a maternity swim suit in John Lewis, the first I had seen which wasn't black (it's turquoise)
as I am hoping to go to antenatal swimming classes in september. Me and Mum did have a sneaky peek at the prams too!
One of the nicest things was my mums next door neighbour (who I went to school with) has just had her second child so we went round and I had a lovely long cuddle with a 2 week old!! Lots of tips too!!
My parents are obvously very excited about it all and although I kept saying ... hopefully .. if things go alright etc It did make me feel less anxious about it all.

ChaCha · 07/08/2006 13:06

Hi ladies,

Not been on in a while as we have no broadband until our new modem arrives and dial up is so slow. Hope everyone is doing well - unfortunately with almost 700 messages on this thread the poor dial up just can't take it - anyone going to start a nice fresh thread for us?

We had our 12 week scan on Saturday and it was just lovely. Tiny baby moving its arms and legs everywhere as everything seemed fine. Was very, very happy when i left the hospital. Have the 20 week scan 1st week of October! Ages away!

Still very sick here and finding it hard with DS being so small but keep reminding myself am very lucky and have to get on with it! DS is attention coughing best go xx

suzi2 · 07/08/2006 20:06

hello everyone. Welcome to all the newbies.

Had my 12wk NHS scan today - all is well. They're going with my LMP dates, even though my private 8wk scan put me 6 days behind. Can't decide what to pick as my due date now :-D Just hoping that I don't go far over and it interferes with the planned homebirth.

Still feel awful. Sicky and groggy. have erythema nodosum that I got when pg with DS and it's starting to get sore and making me feel rotten. Just hoping it passes soon and doesn't last until 24wks like it did with DS.

DS was 1 yesterday and even though the party was at my mums, my house is still a tip! He has toys everywhere!
