You got in the bath? I got in about an hour ago and it helped. Had a jug and when I was contracting was pouring warm water over my belly. I'm having then about every 7 and a half mins. Have left hubby asleep upstairs, figure he needs as mug sleep as he can get! Looks like a few of us going at once...

pinkapples · 13/06/2013 04:44

No no baths allowed for me as waters went although I'm sure that would help as have had a bath everyday for the last 2 months near enough! Coming every 5 mins still but I'm sure there getting stronger have an apt at 10 so will probably wait for that

pinkbear82 · 13/06/2013 04:53

ooo ladies it sounds like a few of you are going to be meeting your little bundles soon!

good luck and hope the contractions get to the magic point for you all soon.

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 04:59

I've just had bath. Phoned hospital before I went in who said I need 3 or 4 contractions in 10 mins each lasting a minute, for an hour, before I have to call back. Bath has slowed things down (3 in 40 mins) so going to try get some sleep as got a feeling Thursday is going to be a very long day.
Fingers crossed I sleep, and when I get up those also contracting are further on....

SunnyL · 13/06/2013 05:22

Wow ladies things are moving arent they??! Best of luck to you all. My contractions never did settle down until i'd been in labour over 48 hours but hospital took pity on me for being so tired and let me come in. They can talk about ways of speeding it up if you are exhausted.

Wish i could record the noise of the post natal ward for you. Babies SCREAMING, large ladies SNORING, nurses TALKING, buzzers BUZZING. I'm wearing DHs super duper night shift plugs and i'm still being really disturbed

Mawgatron · 13/06/2013 06:11

Pink, we were told at antenatal that you can have a bath after waters have gone, just don't put anything in the water! I am back in. Was struggling out of it. Husband asleep still, contractions are about 45 seconds, coming between 7 and 4 mins apart.

On a plus note, just got a shout out on 6 music! There's nothing like labour to get you noticed!

Steffanoid · 13/06/2013 06:30

gosh ladies seems like 13 isn't so.unlucky for you! hope things ramp up and get shifting fast for you!
I think I just woke the dog up eating biscuits in the spare room, have been waking up nauseous again like right at the beginning of the pregnancy Sad
oh well it's an excuse to eat biscuits at ridiculous times in the morning!

off to the mw this morning for tge sweep so hopefully that will work

MrsBri · 13/06/2013 07:50

Good luck everyone! All these babies on the way...so jealous!

39 weeks here today (by scan, not reality!) so getting impatient!

Steff, I hope you're ok today and you get to spend time with your family. Good luck with the sweep.

curiousgeorgie · 13/06/2013 07:59

Wow, it's really exciting waking up to all this Grin

Looks like lots more babies on the way... (Except for me! She's staying firmly in... Forever!)

Good luck everyone! Sounds like its been a very busy night! I hope that things happen soon for you all ( except stef- I hope the baby holds on and that today goes ok for you)

Steffanoid · 13/06/2013 08:30

thanks guys,

MrsBri · 13/06/2013 08:32

Sparkle, I KNOW my date of conception to be 30th September, so it's the LMP date of 24th June. Only 4 days, but it still means baby has a different timetable to the midwives!

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 09:52

Steff hope your sweep works.
Contractions stopped here Hmm that's now been 2 nights of constant contractions then they slow down during the day. Does this little boy not want to come?! Very fed up now!!

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 09:53

Mawg go you with the shout out!! Suppose we should all make the most of being pregnant while we still are!

The only good thing is that induction will be sooner if baby can't be arsed before then! :-)

Hopefully he will come out of his own accord though.

I'm just an impatient cow generally, which doesn't help.

Steffanoid · 13/06/2013 10:58

cervix is far back still, she just managed to reach it. another booked on Tuesday, then induction booked for Friday 8pm, the Saturday is my birthday! I hope he gets here before then!

rrreow · 13/06/2013 15:25

I've been reading on my phone but it's so cumbersome replying so haven't done so (finally reunited with my computer now.. ahhh ). Congrats all you who had babies these past few days! Please post pics on the FB group if you are so inclined, I love baby pics Smile

Aloha it's a lovely name. It was on my list for girls names. So was Lily.

For those of you wanting things to get moving / booked for sweeps. Perhaps try Evening Primrose Oil? I took 2 tablets orally and 1 inserted daily and although I have no idea if it had anything to do with it, when I went for my sweep at 38+5 my cervix was low and everything very favourable. Worth a shot I guess!

Also for contractions a position that really worked for me (apart from being in the bath, which was blissful - although it did slow things down for a while) was leaning on something while standing in the earlier stages (so leaning on the side of a table) as it really took the pressure off my back. And then in the later stages I really liked being on my knees at the bottom of the stairs, leaning with my arms on the stairs a few steps higher.

What helped with the pain for me was concentrating (really going 'into' myself) and keep repeating that it was pressure moving the baby down, not pain. It actually made it so it didn't feel like pain. I read the Hypnobirthing book but was too lazy to do all the daily exercises of breathing and visualisation but I did take some of the stuff on board and I was quite amazed at it working (until I got out of the bath at which point I was knackered and it broke my concentration and the final 2 hours were just horrible but ah well at least I had 4 hours worth of good experience).

Anyway the above is just what worked for me, so obviously it might not work for everyone, but I hope it'll help someone!

SunnyL · 13/06/2013 15:28

I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE! So so so tired and been waiting on our discharge paperwork for hours. Hospitals are not conducive places to sleep especially when you had a 65hr labour so are already massively sleep deprived. The problem is they are full of OTHER PEOPLE who never freaking shut up.

Ok moan over. Will feel better soon. Hope all those in labour are progressing well.

pinkbear82 · 13/06/2013 16:42

that made me giggle sunny!! you'll get home and wonder where all the noise has gone.
hope you are on your way soon and can start to catch up on rest once there!

MrsBri · 13/06/2013 16:51

Rrreow, I've got some hypnobirthing stuff on my iPod that we can listen to at the hospital to help me remember my breathing etc. I'm really hoping it helps! If not, I'll just go for my usual raucous stuff and sing / bounce along until Baby B has to come out to get away from me :-)

I've just ordered a 'from bump' card for DH for Sunday, so hopefully that will spur bubs on! If Baby B comes before then, DH will just have to have the bump card anyway, ha ha.

Sunny, I hope they let you out soon. Is it a really busy maternity unit where you are? Must be so frustrating for you.

Sunbeam18 · 13/06/2013 16:51

Thanks for the Edinburgh info, Sunny! Sorry you are having all the noise problems and you get home soon and can sleep.
Useful tips, rrrreow! I need to get things moving before next Thursday as have sweep booked in then. Have been recommended squaw vine tea too - anyone heard of that?
Hope all the labours that were ongoing overnight are going ok and that you are all now blissfully cuddling your babies and forgetting about the process of getting them out!

pinkapples · 13/06/2013 17:09

Just to let you know baby Theiah arrived at 3.32pm 7lb 8oz this afternoon

Just waiting for my brew will update later

MrsBri · 13/06/2013 17:23
