Been having mild contractions since 4, feeling like period pain cramps. Started off round my back and then moved round to the bottom of my bump. Was having them every ten mins or so, but the seem to have lessened a bit now. Dh looked panicked and said 'try and hold out til Saturday so I can get this job finished'. Brilliant!

AlohaMama · 12/06/2013 21:06

Congrats curly. Love the name especially the Samuel bit but I might be somewhat biased!

Ah mawg, turns out babies just don't respect our chosen schedules. Your dh might just have to finish his job a bit quicker!

Littlemissexpecting · 12/06/2013 21:12

Congrats Sunny and Curly ThanksThanks Aloha lovely name.
Bit more discomfort here but contractions still very irregular now. Got very excited after last night so bit annoyed.
Any tips of ramping them up? Other than dtd and nipple stimulation?!
P.S why did no one tell me your mucous plug is enormous?! Thought I had lost it all last night but apparently not!!

Littlemissexpecting · 12/06/2013 21:14

Mawg your DH sounds very similar to mine. He has some job on at work that he apparently has to finish before lo arrives.
I've reminded him I have no control over these contractions!!

SunnyL · 12/06/2013 21:54

Finally got my tea and toast 12 hours after baby made her arrival. Tastes magic!

Labour was long and tiring. I couldnt have done it without the TENS machine as they wanted to avoid giving me pain relief as it was such a long build up. At 48 hours i was 3cm, at 56 hours i was 5cm then finally got my hands on some morphine and gas and air and whoosh my waters burst and i was into full on pushing mode.

Anyway the reason i didnt get my tea and toast was because the placenta didnt come away despite all sorts of pulling a poking and prodding. Instead i had to go to theatre for manual extraction which involved a spinal block, stirrups and people going up inside my foof to get it all out. So i managed a 65 hour labour with no epidural only to end up with one after all just to get the placenta out. So it meant DH got a couple of hours of one-on-one time with Lily while i was up in theatre with loads of people looking up my fanny.

pinkapples · 12/06/2013 21:56

I'd be interested in knowing how to ramp up the contractions obviously as waters have gone no DTD for me Sad no baths to relax myself either SadSad so not really sure just wait and see I suppose

Steffanoid · 12/06/2013 22:01

oh sunny I've got visions of Indiana Jones diving up your fanjo

RueDeWakening · 12/06/2013 22:06

Oh dear pink - no advice I'm afraid, my waters went with DS1 and 19 hours later I'd had not one bloody contraction, just as well given that he was presenting feet first, but still!

I meant to say earlier - your waters will keep coming for as long as it takes, as baby keeps producing more fluid so there's a never ending supply of the stuff. Just to cheer you up a bit more...

pinkapples · 12/06/2013 22:06

Well off to bed now to try and get some sleep hopefully she will then decide she'd like to make an appearance

Mawgatron · 12/06/2013 22:23

Me too. Had a couple of paracetamol and off to bed. Hopefully will have more to report in the morning...

AmIGoingMad · 12/06/2013 22:44

Congratulations curly! Lovely name!

Also love your name aloha! ( as you might remember from the names thread. Wish my DH would let me use it!!!)

Sunny that sounds like a hell of an outing but you've made it out the other side!

Hope things ramp up for everyone after some rest tonight!

pinkapples · 12/06/2013 23:44

Ow ow ow! Is all I can say am absolutely knackered but cannot fall asleep and when I do I get woken! Not the face of a happy camper!

Sunbeam18 · 12/06/2013 23:48

Congrats to Sunny and Curly! Great names too. Lily was my top name if mine was girl. Sunny, I recall you are in Edinburgh area like me. Which hospital did you go to and how was it? I'm scheduled for St Johns.

curlyclaz13 · 13/06/2013 00:29

good luck trying to rest pink, I have just about managed an hour since 5am Tuesday ! eat if you can to keep energy up I was forced to have some nasty dextrose stuff as also hadn't eaten and was running on empty about 4 + hours into pushing.

SunnyL · 13/06/2013 00:32

Hi sunbeam - i was very nearly at St Johns as Simpsons was full the first time i called. Was in the birthing unit at Simpsons which was a great experience - fabulous big room with all the mod cons. Now in the labour ward for the night which is pretty horrific but thats down to the people i'm sharing with. Pack ruddy good ear plugs is all i can advise!

pinkapples · 13/06/2013 00:38

If there's anyone still up any clues on when your meant to phone?

curlyclaz13 · 13/06/2013 00:59

I phoned when contractions were about 6 mins apart and lasting 30-40 secs. advised to call back when 3-4 apart and lasting a minute + worth calling though, did you say waters had gone ? That might influence when they want you. good luck.

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 01:03

Same here. Hospital want me to call when every 3 mins lasting 60 secs. Good luck!

kiwi5 · 13/06/2013 02:43

Can i join the potential going into labour tonight gang? Contractions every 8 mins at the mo.for the last 3 hrs. Intensity ramping up a bit, bearable but enough to stop me sleeping! Dont know whether to start pacing or stay lying down.
How is everyone else doing?

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 02:49

Hi Kiwi
Contractions coming quick and fast then suddenly slow down which is very annoying. Varying between every 1-2 mins to every 6-8 mins. Not sure when the hospital mean an average of every 3 mins or actually every 3 mins. DH at work so not much fun doing this alone.
Ate you finding anything helping, any positions etc?

kiwi5 · 13/06/2013 02:55

Mostly just trying to sleep, but that isnt.working. So migjt give up.and do pacing/rocking. Will be mightily cheesed off if it all tails off now! How far away is ur dh?
Anything good on tv?!!!

pinkapples · 13/06/2013 02:55

Went to hospital now back Hmm not in established labour... contractions to irregular

They are so painful currently lying half up an half down on the sofa with duvets and cushions under and around me slightly more comfortable may have to try and get some sleep if this is going to keep up

Appointment at 10.00am for more monitoring if nothing happens as that will be 29 hours since waters broke

kiwi5 · 13/06/2013 03:04

Ugh pink. That sounds proper rubbish. Hope things suddenly ramp up for u. R u far from the.hospital? I am about 45 mins away so only.want to go when i have to.

Littlemissexpecting · 13/06/2013 03:24

Sorry pink not good. It's so difficult to get comfy. I tried sleeping but contractions keep waking me up. Tried my ball, tried the sofa. DH is around 30 mins away at the most so not far. I don't want to get him home from work for the contractions to tail off so trying to leave it as long as I can. He is meant to finish at 8. Not sure i can take the pain much longer...

pinkapples · 13/06/2013 04:10

About 15 from the hospital so not to bad for me either just so tired contractions are about every 5 minutes now
