Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
curiousgeorgie · 14/06/2013 13:44

I should have been booked for 38 weeks but they only book two electives on a Tuesday or a Thursday and they were fully booked so compromised by booking my due due date but promising I could have a 'very quick' EMCS should I need it. I was totally not happy about it but there's apparently nothing they can do Sad it's just really frustrating that I would have a 3 day old baby girl now if they weren't so busy!

I had an ELCS last time and think it was a great experience, very calm and lovely memories.

SunnyL · 14/06/2013 13:54

Congrats Mawg. I LOVE the name Baxter!

Just had the midwife round and we've had the all clear. She was most impressed that we were out walking the dog when she first knocked. Apparently most people aren't even out of bed by 12noon when they first bring baby back. I think a hyper active collie dog prevents us for being too lazy!

Last night Lily decided that she didn't rate the Moses basket and would only sleep on humans. DH was wonderful though and recognised that I hadnt slept since sat and was fading fast so took it on himself to deal with Lily unless any feeding was required. So so so much more human today as a result.

Olimoss · 14/06/2013 14:13

Btw I do think it rather unfair that baby-pimples happen. Poor babes.

Sarah2506 · 14/06/2013 14:21

oli back to your pre pregnancy weight?

How on earth is that possible?! How much did you gain?!

MrsBri · 14/06/2013 14:22

Wow, Oli, pre-pregnancy weight in 16 days? That's good going, especially with a c section. I don't think I'll be managing it that fast!

And I love that you're up and about, Sunny. Always good to surprise the health professionals in a good way! And hurrah for your DH.

That is annoying, Georgie. Seems like a bit of a daft system though, doesn't it? :-/

pinkapples · 14/06/2013 14:31

Wow that's great oli well done

Baby Theiah went 9 hrs without food last night midwife was not happy with me Sad but has now fed 9-9.45 this morning then 2pm and she's still on... And I did this one on my own so I'm very proud GrinGrin

redwellybluewelly · 14/06/2013 14:54

I've promised myself not to step on the scales until baby is two weeks old. Not least because I am still laid up on the sofa! (Thanks for spa tone tip)

Having never had a sicky baby this one is proving to be quite an education. I cannot believe just how much pours out when it seems.she has fed for such a short time! Doesn't seem to bother her, she does have hiccups all the time though.

Ha! I think it was the new-baby-unexpectedly-in-NICU diet, very effective but I absolutely don't recommend it. My gut is still made mostly of jelly. My thighs - well let us not speak of the horror. I did only put on bout 10kg in total, so after Joe was born half of that went on the day. Was too podge even before I gt up duff, so more can come off please.

expresses breastmilk forever

I only got on the scales to reassure myself that worrying bout losing the weight was something I could put off a bit, got a pleasant surprise. I can't really exercise due to farked knee, got MRI & Ortho appt for that next week.

Tried to change shitty nappy = he gets hysterical. Leave him nads-deep in his own, warm ooze = sleeping Joe.

Boys are gross.

Steffanoid · 14/06/2013 15:12

note to any of those spending all day on the gym ball like me, do not get too over zealous if you are dancing/jiggling away to music or glee because I nearly fell off, I've now regained balance and will take more care haha

Sarah2506 · 14/06/2013 15:12

Polly is totally the same. Changed her at 830am. Just realised hasn't changed her since. Got down to it. Was like the last day of the Somme in there. One of my big bug bears is people who post about their children's poo on Facebook but I'm now starting to totally get it.

redwellybluewelly · 14/06/2013 15:23

I was one of those who didn't lose the last half stone until I stopped feeding and something tells me I might be the same this time! As long as I can get back into my work clothes by January all will be well Grin

I feel an investment in latex gloves may be in order!

Sarah2506 · 14/06/2013 15:28

I am annoyed with the weather. I can't wear pre pregnancy clothes and maternity stuff is ridiculous. Was kind of hoping could just spend the summer in maxi dresses and would be in my jeans by autumn. Cue me wearing the same pair of stretchy trousers forever...

redwellybluewelly · 14/06/2013 15:28

Certainly make sure your washing machine is in good condition!

Feeling grouchy and bored of waiting today. This is such an odd time.

bunglecat77 · 14/06/2013 18:17

Sunbeam - I can't quite get my head around the waiting. Don't know whether to make plans to distract myself (and then obviously the LO will decide to come when I'm busy), or to hang around waiting just in case. Hopefully it won't be long for you.

Sarah You've just given me something to think about - just realised I have no idea what I'm going to wear on my bottom half once the baby arrives! I've been trying to survive on the bare minimum of maternity clothes, so I've only got two pairs of jeans, and a dress that won't be suitable for breastfeeding. Eeek.

Mums already - what's working for you? Should I get a couple of skirts that are larger than my pre-pregnancy ones as I guess the massive maternity pads might be really obvious in trousers? Or am I unlikely to make it out of my pyjamas in the first weeks?!

Olimoss · 14/06/2013 18:45

Bungle - I wore my maternity trousers for the first week or so, then normal clothes (but as with early-mid pregnancy unable to do top buttons ups, etc, so used belly bands or button extenders). Normal shirts and things but always with a vest underneath so if I took my top off I could just take down the vest strap to get to the boob. Seems to work ok. I haven't got a singlle purpose-made breast feeding piece of clothing. And some stretchy jersey maxi dresses, again with a vest underneath.

Littlemissexpecting · 14/06/2013 18:46

Sunbeam I'm exactly the same. DH doesn't really understand as not yet officially overdue but after 2 nights of contractions, losing my mucous plug (more than once) and on and off contractions with back ache all day today I just want it to get going properly.

AmIGoingMad · 14/06/2013 19:15

I'm the same with the hating the waiting game thing and I'm not due until 25 th- I might well drive myself mad by then!

Have given very little thought to what to wear afterwards at the moment. Although a few of my summery things are quite flowy and I can't see how I'm going to give up on my leggings. Will have to try to work it out while giving myself a few days in pjs!

MrsBri · 14/06/2013 19:32

I'm on the back ache / intermittent contractions too, Littlemiss. Currently on my ball bouncing like a nutter.

Come on babies!!

redwellybluewelly · 14/06/2013 19:38

Post CS clothing is a PITA, the jersey band on my maternity jeans digs right in along the scar, I may try and find a pair of linen trousers with a low waistband. I have one pair of leggings but neither tunic top is suitable for easy access feeding.

May have to go shopping or buy a frugi wrap dress

SunnyL · 14/06/2013 19:38

Bungle - day 1 I looked about 6 months pregnant (but with squishy belly instead of hard baby bump). Today is day 3 and I look like a normal-ish person that should perhaps avoid eating quite so many doughnuts. I'm in my maternity jeans because they are comfy but they are falling down. I did get on the scales this morning out of interest and was amused to have been on the best diet in my life after a case of amoebic dysentery I got a few years ago. 1 stone lost in 3 days!

Right now I have a thumping headache that only gets better when I lie down. Rather worried I might have one of those spinal block headaches - according to guidance you might need to get a blood patch if it doesn't let up. Will monitor and hope its just tiredness except I never get headaches......

pinkapples · 14/06/2013 19:54

I'm in joggers at the mo and pj bottoms I've got stitches so huge pads plus ice pack does look a bit like a willy at the front but not that bad that I wouldn't go out :-)

forgetmenots · 14/06/2013 20:25

Congratulations on all these babies, wow just catching up on the thread.

DS and I are still in hospital - he has been really poorly and it hasn't been an easy week. I'm happy to say though that he is on the mend and we should be out in the next few days.

MrsBri - I was in the yeti club (hairy belly) and had a boy, also was in the high libido crowd and had a boy the libido is gone forever now though :)

I'm now frantically reading up about newborns, spent so much time fretting about the birth and all that, I've got no idea what I'm doing! Google and MN are my friends :)

pinkapples · 14/06/2013 21:32

I'm the same forgot when she should be sleeping she's chatting to me when she should be feeding she's sleeping not what the books say!!
