I'm struggling with the healthy eating a bit too. Eating much more processed/ready made stuff as opposed to cooking from scratch, although i'm definitely better now than in the first trimester.
Had to get some gaviston today. Suffering a bit now with heartburn, which I've never had in my life pre-pregnancy. Was also told by the pharmacist in Boots you shouldn't take rennies when pregnant which was news to me.

Natalieand · 11/06/2013 19:04

News to me mrsO I took rennie in my last pregnancy I haven't had to yet as doc prescribed me gaviscon early on this time so I didn't have to buy anything but I definaty thought rennie was safe too!

Diet wise I haven't really changed- if anything I'm eating slightly less than b4 I was pregnant not through choice it just kind of happened I'm 22+1 now and gained 6.5 lbs

Haylebop12 · 11/06/2013 19:12

Opoh eating, I used to love veg and salad, not ever been keen on fruit but yes to having to force it down now. With the weather we've been eating more salad.

Tonight we got steak, new pots and roasted veg, only looking forward to the potatoes! (And the wholenut I have for after!) we always have a curry once a week with my parents but when I'm in lates at weekend and dh doesn't get in till 7 ish we end up with more takeouts. And that's been for last four weekends.

Yum to dominoes Grin have gained 10lbs which I'm fairly pleased with due to me literally eating what I want and usually every two hours!

Haylebop12 · 11/06/2013 19:13

Congrats on the scan orange

Thinking of asking for a 4d scan for my birthday which is end of August. I'll be 34 weeks though so would want it before...

rubytwosday · 11/06/2013 19:19

Glad your scan went well orange! I am also really suffering with the no energy so eat processed food so no energy cycle. I have some chicken that needs cooking tonight but do not know what to do with it! Any suggestions?

roxvox · 11/06/2013 19:20

I've never really been one much for veg anyway, but in my first trimester I couldn't even stand the thought of any veg gracing my plate! All I wanted was toast and junk food. This trimester I have forced myself to eat better, and whilst I don't mind it too much it is definitely difficult. Part of my drive to eat more healthily was the fact that DH was eating badly too, and I worried about his health (the fact that I worried more about his health than my own with a baby in me is in itself is a worry!)

Today though I am having a hunger burst. Dinner is in the oven, but I'm not sure I'll be able to hold out for the next 16 minutes until it's ready.

MrsO I have been taking rennie (a few a week, so not loads), but I am sure I read on their website that they're fine in pregnancy!

roofio that did make me chuckle Grin

GTbaby · 11/06/2013 19:23

Just eaten half a pummet of grapes. Which was dessert to half a angel cake Blush. What shall I have next?

Got to make chappatis for DH. But dont fancy them for me. Might make a processed chicken burger for myself. A fish finger sandwich ... Hmm what to have what to have

Natalieand · 11/06/2013 19:26

I'm having Chinese we normally get takeout on a Tuesday as dh doesn't get home till 8 from work. Yummy roll on 8 o clock

Flyer747 · 11/06/2013 20:00

I have what feels like a little alien living in my tummy, after weeks of stressing over little to no movements, it's finally on the go....it feels so strange.

That paella sounds lush soupqueen, I could just eat that.

Also quick question going to Greece and really enjoy a Greek salad for lunch when I holiday there, from what some websites say they advise avoiding feta others say it's ok, so I'm unsure whether to have it or not, especially as I can't check if its pasteurised or not....dilemma I love authentic Greek salads.

Smitten1981 · 11/06/2013 20:10

I've been eating feta over the past few weeks. It's fine!

Flyer747 · 11/06/2013 20:15

Smashing thanks :-)

MrsO27 · 11/06/2013 20:19

I wish I asked the pharmacist the reason but was in a flap because my work phone was ringing. Gaviscon got his approval though, he said liquid form is better.
Getting really fed up of seeing pregnant women looking absolutely amazing. Just read an article on the mail online about Lucy Jo Hudson and she looks fantastic while I'm just a big spotty blob! I know the pics are airbrushed but it just makes me feel worse about how I look! Envy

GTbaby · 11/06/2013 21:02

Floaty bright spots in my eyes. I got up. Walked two minutes. By the time I sat down it was flashy. Any advice?

MrsO27 · 11/06/2013 21:08

Hi Gt, without trying to alarm you a few people in my family have had detached retinas and symptoms can include flashes, shadows etc. in your vision. Always best to get it checked out ASAP. Sure it's totally fine but maybe give NHS24 a call?

MrsO27 · 11/06/2013 21:11

Or NHS Direct I think it's called in England. Dial 111

claphammama · 11/06/2013 21:12

congrats on your scan orange and yes, I have the same placenta problem. Also booked for another scan at 32 weeks. Really hope it moves up as I'm so keen on another natural birth... fingers crossed for both of us

roofio I love your story! I would just take them back and laugh about it - I'm sure they've seen more than you can imagine in this shop!

smitten I love love love the sound of your risotto... is it a particular recipe or something you've invented yourself? I love vegetarian food and often cook from Ottolenghi books. My diet is very good but my stress levels can be ridiculous and I sleep far too little so I worry about this and the effect it has on the baby instead... I guess all of us are guilty of something and it's so hard to be careful and perfect for all 9 months

MoN I'm a bit behind on the thread - just wanted to say I think it's a beautiful and unusual name for your little girl.

Feeling really low today... bloody hormones... and really insecure about everything. Insecure at work, insecure about my motherhood skills, insecure with DP, insecure everywhere. Hate it. DP is out with work so eating pasta with tomatoes and double dose of chilli and garlic - my comfort food...

PseudoBadger · 11/06/2013 21:26

GT, can also be a sign of Pre Eclampsia, if it was me I'd give the midwife a ring. Or maybe see if it reoccurs?

Flyer747 · 11/06/2013 21:29

Claphammama bless you and those sodding hormones! I've been feeling really low today too...don't know why just feel shitty and wish I didn't! It's like pmt x 100...

Smitten1981 · 11/06/2013 21:34

Clapham, this is a bit embarrassing but it's actually a recipe from Gwyneth Paltrow's new cookbook. It was in a magazine, so I thought I'd give it a go. So simple but mega tasty. I'll see if I can find the recipe online for you.

GTbaby · 11/06/2013 21:36

Called triage. They asked me a bunch of questions n said if it happens again to call, but it may just be tiredness.

Smitten1981 · 11/06/2013 21:36

Here it is, not sure how to do links on my phone, I'll just paste the address

www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/recipes/9984055/Gwyneth-Paltrows-risotto-with-peas-and-greens-recipe.html

claphammama · 11/06/2013 21:42

thanks smitten! I'm not a big fan of Gwyneth either but the recipe looks yummy... will definitely give it a go.

it's exactly how it feels flyer! pmt x 100 mixed with a healthy dose of depression.

hope ir gets better gt and you manage to get some rest.

Smitten1981 · 11/06/2013 21:47

Use 130g of rice though, no idea why that recipe says 22g!

claphammama · 11/06/2013 21:49

22g for Gwyneth's size? :-)

Smitten1981 · 11/06/2013 22:23

Ha ha. Probably.
