hiya everyone, and welcome to the new mums on this thread

stats

me 32
dh 33
ds 4 in june
edd 8june, didnt find out sex of baby
south wales
birth plan, waterpool for pain relief then pethidene if i start holding dh's hand too much that it goes numb!

well girls we are nearly there, everyone excited i bet!! i will miss my bump and its so different to the last pregancy that im sure im having a girl, but who knows, will be a shock if its a boy but ds will be happy

for those who already have young children, are you buying any toys from the new baby to them...and if so what you buying

i dont want my ds to feel he is pushed to one side so im buying a toy from his baby brother/sister

and ds keeps mentioning that he is going to buy a rattle for his baby brother/sister which i think is sweet

LilacBump · 07/05/2006 20:30

bubbly, i want to buy something for DD (nearly 5) from our new baby. i already got her the tony ross book 'i want a sister' and she loves that as she said she wanted a sister for ages until we found out bump is a boy. i thought of maybe buying her a boy doll. DD is giving the baby a little eeyore (she has a big version that she's slept with since she was very little).

sarahsbump, i got the £500 paid in tonight, so that was very quick. can't wait to spend it :) i'd really recommend applying for it.

slink - my bump measures 2cm bigger than it should for my weeks too, bump feels rather large. But my placenta is at the front, so i can feel lots of soft squidgyness, with the occassional hard lump, think theres a bum up above my belly button.

Put my belly band on this morning so i could wear one of my shorter tops, rather useful as it also holds my trousers up whic are always falling down. The hilarious thing is, now i've got it on, i can't see it at all!!! it is all under my bump.

Sarahsbump - sorry matey, i'm down in the w.mids.

Happybebe - i have started on the raspberry tea as well, although a friend told me that all that will do is make your contractions more productive and stronger, but there are some essential oils that you can try that are very good for inducing labour, can be rubbed on bump. will find out what they are. I am getting very impatient too. Just want baby here now.

Is anyone else feeling really anxious about the actual birth, I am not too worried about the labour as i am really trying to stay positive about it, and i know it is an essential process to get my baby in my arms, but I am worried that DH will just be totally freaked out by it, and that him seeing all thats going on will embarrass me and him, am i being daft??

happybebe · 08/05/2006 11:20

hi all

thats the good thing with the rasperry lea teaf, its like exercise for your womb! tastes pretty foul but last labour they said i dilated pretty quickly with minimal pain, until i went into stage two then it was agony! didnt have the pethidine till i was 9 cm and olny because i lost control!

i am not really nervous about the pain as such, just nervous if anything go wrong and i need to be transported and have a c section which is my worst nightmare.hubby has seen it all before and thought the whole experience was lovely, told me he saw me in a different light after child birtha nd was so so proud. diddle, i reckon your DP will be fine too!

hope you are all well ladies, comeon babies! :) xx

dewberry1 · 08/05/2006 13:33

Hi Guys..im due 14th June and all packed ready to rumble....just a quick question,iv got some raspberry leaf capsules...they are huge and i have trouble swallowing themmmanyway it says split the capsule and make into a tea which i tried but the stuff inside doesnt dissolve...it just sits at the bottom of the brew so when you get to the end its all lumpy and impossible to swallow without puking..haha anyone else having this prob??? xx

vbab78 · 08/05/2006 14:23

diddle I understand your concerns about DH and the birth. My DH (to look at) is quite a tall broad man who appears tough and you would think nothing would bother him. However he is very queasy when it comes to blood and stuff so I'm very unsure what he is going to be like at the birth.

He wants to be there, even though he knows what he is like and I want him there more than anything but I'm just worried that I will end up with no support because he will be laid out on the floor or I will end up giving him emotional support. On a good note if the worst did happen he would be helping me take my mind off the pain Wink.

happybebe · 08/05/2006 16:45

i guess it all depends on what kind of labour your have, if your DH is squeemish tell him to stay away from the bottom end lol, but with my labour there was very little blood and they clean baby up straight away. its such a life changing experience, hopefuly your DPs will be able to manage to witness it! :)

vbab78 · 09/05/2006 09:30

Morning Ladies.

Hope everyone is ok. Apart from the good news that I am 36 weeks today I thought I would have a whinge...

Had a day off work yesterday which was nice and relaxing but strange because I don't often relax because I'm one of those silly people who always has to be doing something, even though I resemble the side of a house. However last night I had the worst night's sleep I think I have ever had. I was constantly turning, which is not easy with bump and spent the rest of the time forcing myself to sleep.

As a result of the bad night at work today everyone keeps asking when I finish work because they say I look terrible and need to rest. Nice of them AngrySmile.

diddle · 09/05/2006 10:04

vbab - sounds like you're having a rough time of it.

I was wondering when you all stopped working, how many weeks were you, or are you all still going??
Vbab - when you stopping again?

LilacBump · 09/05/2006 10:11

hi vbab, i'm 36 weeks too today. and they have just delivered the baby's cot. it's beautiful!
i keep having other mums at DD's school treat me like i'm a fragile doll. constantly asking if i'm alright and telling me i look so tired (usually they tell me this when i wear make up so that should tell me something!). i told one i had been shopping in town yesterday for a new fridge freezer and she couldn't believe i still have the energy.

diddle, have you had any more braxton hicks?

OP posts:
vbab78 · 09/05/2006 10:16

diddle - I'm 36 weeks today. Finish a week on Friday which is the 19th May (37 weeks + so many days). The work isn't that hard, I'm a software programmer, so I'm sat down all day. It's just getting the motivation to get to work then not fall asleep about 3pm.

But I have got this Friday and Next Monday off so I will have a nice long weekend off. Including today I've got 7 days of work left. Grin YIPPEE!

Are you a childminder? When are you finishing?

vbab78 · 09/05/2006 10:18

Forgot ... I think I had my first case of braxton hicks on Saturday. My bump kept feeling tight and made me feel sick.

I'm now at paranoid stage ... was having a few twinges last night before bed. I wonder if I didn't sleep well because I was worried I was in labour?

diddle · 09/05/2006 11:29

lilacbump - I am still having braxton hicks, sometimes regular and sometimes not. Getting some pain with them in the last couple of days too.

I am a childminder, and have been feeling worse and worse over the last couple of weeks, so have decided to stop work on Friday at 36 wks. The parents are frantically trying to find cover, although they should have been prepared for this a long time ago.

happybebe · 09/05/2006 11:54

so gald i am not working, dont know how you all do it! my one year old is hard enough work for me lol, but once this baby is six months i would like to get back to work.

gald to hear everyone is doing okay, i woke up this mornign with period like feeling without the cramps, think it is because baby has turned the right way down and is putting pressure on my pelvis, cant wait till she gets here! :)

Piglet2006 · 09/05/2006 12:32

Hello all.

Thanx to those who replied to my little message about me expecting "damien" or the female equiv. lol

A little about me......

Im 30

Have been married since nov last year
baby is expected 6th June.

So far ive had a horrid pregnancy, suffering from mild pre-eclampsia at the moment, but im taking things easy - hence im here to bore all you guys lol No seriously, thought it would be nice to chat to others in same boat and exchange tips/advice etc and generally have a good old moan.

Hope all your pregnancies are going well and look 4ward to chatting to u all xx

elizabuff · 09/05/2006 13:24

Just dropped in on my first afternoon off in 4 months! Good to hear everyone is doing ok. Baby is currently pretending to be auditioning for an Alien film - keep getting elbows stuck out at right angles and feet in my ribs! Really don't like the feeling of her moving any more because it just hurts, but if she doesn't move every hour or so I have to poke her to make sure she's ok Blush

Really decided I have had enough of work now, so instead of 4 full days and 3 half days I'm just down to 5 mornings a week (self employed so have to be strict with myself on times). Actually managed to get more done this morning than I did in the whole of yesterday - think it's probably to do with being more focussed and actually getting my arse into gear instead of dossing around on ebay!

Keep forgetting to ring the midwife to book in for her coming to see me to do a birth plan. They only answer the phone from 9-9.30 in the mornings so it's awkward seeing as I start work at 9. Getting bag packed this week too, so hoepfully baby will get the hint and start thinking about moving (I wish)!

Jen1209 · 09/05/2006 13:29

crash alert

Bubbly 1973 - thank you so much for your message - thankfully all is ok + they've moved my dates forward by nearly a week - due 18/11/06 now!

feeling very achy this morning, the whole of my abdomen aches, and my back, which is of course leading me to get my hopes up, especially as someone commented in the playground this morning that i looked like i'd dropped.
Baby has been very active, keeps wriggling around a lot, more than normal, well maybe not more but as its bigger i can feel it more. Its so strange.

vbab78 · 10/05/2006 12:50

diddle - sorry to hear that you are achy. I know what you mean about getting your hopes up. Every time I have an ache or twinge I'm thinking "is this it". Just really want to see baby. My babycenter page says at the end of this week I am classed as full term which has made me even more impatient.

On a good note I had an amazing night's sleep last night which made up for the night before.

sarahsbump · 10/05/2006 21:26

Hi all x
Cant believe how little time we have left!! although alot of you are due before me so im jealous!!

I think we have finally bought everything so now I need to pack my hospital bag and arrange the nursery!!

I bought some raspberry leaf capsules today but was wondering when i should start taking them? I am 33+5 today so does anyone know?

hope everyone is ok x x

LilacBump · 10/05/2006 21:58

sarahsbump, the midwife who does my ante-natal classes said that all methods to get things going like raspberry leaf tea, nipple stimulation etc should be done past the 37 week mark.

sarahsbump · 11/05/2006 06:19
