Hi All.
Sorry i haven't posted for sometime, finding it quite uncomfortable to sit at my pc.
Hope you are all well. Not long now! Grin
I'm 36 weeks on saturday, virtually have everythng ready, just waiting for the big things to be delivered any day now. Like the nursery furniture, travel system etc.
Suffering very bad sleepless nights, aren't we all hey! Just can't get comfortable. Am trying to insist to DP that he have a crane come to help me turn at night! Grin
Feeling quite hopefull too at the slightest little twinge or different braxton. All in good time though i guess. I can't wait to meet this little one.
What a lovely day, think i'll go and get some sun in my garden today. See how long i last before i cook! Smile
Not long now ladies, keep smiling!
xx

Hurrah, I had my last day at work yesterday. I had a lovely day and was given some gorgeous outfits and a cot mobile. It's a bit scary as now I've finished work the baby's arrival seems more real (if you know what I mean).

I'm 37 weeks today and it's DD's birthday next Wednesday so I just want this one to stay put till after then as we're planning to take her out for the day.

I am in the middle of defrosting the freezer for the first time in years - it must be a sign of nesting!! It's a bit scary what I've found at the back - I'm not sure how long some things have been festering there!

diddle · 11/05/2006 12:30

supersaint - how nice, i finish work tomorrow and i seriously cannot wait. I am itching to get cleaning but never have the time or energy once i've finished work. Now i can do it all at my own pace and the house will be all clean and sterile for little ones arrival.

Lottielou - Grin wondered if you'd show your face on here matey, about time too. Grin

LilacBump · 11/05/2006 12:40

just come back from the midwife... baby is still breech, so i will have to go to hospital next friday to see if they can turn him (if he hasn't by then obviously). it's very disappointing news, as i so wanted to avoid it. luckily all other things like blood pressure and sample were fine. seems like i shouldn't start on the raspberry leaf just yet as i don't want to have a breech birth!

OP posts:
diddle · 11/05/2006 13:16

aww lilacbump - there is still time for baby to turn, i hope you're crawling around on all fours encouraging baby to move into a different position. Good sign that everything else is ok.

LilacBump · 11/05/2006 13:18

i've done all the positions they recommend a few times a day. i seem to spend a lot of time on all fours with my bum in the air lately :)
the ECV worries me though. i really don't want to have it done.

SuperSaint · 11/05/2006 13:29

Lilacbump - poor you. My friend was in the same situation last year and had her baby successfully "turned" at the hospital. She said it was definitely worth it to avoid a C section.

Anyway, as Diddle said there is still plenty of time for the baby to turn on its own. Good luck!

PomsMum · 11/05/2006 15:55

LilacBump - just back from the midwife myself I too have a breech baby (been head down from forever till this weekend when I felt it turn the wrong way little darling)a bit of a bummer when I'm intending to have a home birth - dd was breech and we had her turned by ECV at 39 weeks so its all rather deja vu for me currently.

ECV for me was painless, quick and preferable to C-section anyday. We tried moxibustion from an accupuncturist as well at about 36 weeks last time (which worked but she turned again later).

I had also started investigating independent midwives last time who would be happy to deliver breech in hospital or at home - so always worth a consideration.

happybebe · 11/05/2006 19:02

i refused the ecv only because i was told it could distress the baby, but luckily DD turned at around 38 weeks.

am 33 weeks also and will be taking rasberry leaf tea at 34 weeks gradually building from one cup to three cups a day like i did last time and went into labour 2 days before due date.

its getting so close now i am really nervous about labour again, wondering if i should have gone for the epidural after all instead of the painful homebirth option!

glad to hear you are all okay! ;)

diddle · 12/05/2006 08:19

Morning, how you all doing????

LilacBump · 12/05/2006 09:23

thank you all for your advice! at the moment we feel like we should just wait and see if he turns rather than go for ECV or c-section. we'll see what happens this week and friday at the hospital. i'm buying a birth ball today as i've read that they could help. i wanted one anyway for early labour.

how are you all coping with the warm weather? my ankles were a bit swollen last night.

Morning All! Hope you're all well!?
Diddle - Well i thought it was about time i came back. Grin

I'm a bit worried that my baby is transverse at the moment. At my 34 week check up, my MW said that head was down, but i think little one has moved now. I know it can turn back but am worried in case it doesn't. Have a check up next thursday, will be 36+5 so hopefully little one will change by then.

Re. hot weather, i have lost my ankles now and have cankles instead, lolSad i've had to take my rings off too.

Is anyone thirsty all the time? I can't seem to get enough fluids down me. I know it's good for me, but i'm drinking well over 2litres a day.

Well it's lovely and sunny here in the midlands, wonder how long that will last! I'm off out in the garden now. catch you later

blobsmummy · 12/05/2006 10:34

Hello all!

My computer's been broken for the last week, but now we're finally up and running again. DH has now obviously realised how important MN is as the first thing he did when we got computer back was connect to the internet so I could see how everyone's getting on!

Well, approaching the end of my first week of leave - have massively overdone it by painting rooms, cleaning etc. and now hurt EVERYWHERE all the time. Thought things were going to kick off on Wednesday, but alas, the contractions were to no avail and I haven't had anymore since.

Insomnia is driving me crazy and I feel sick a lot of the time, so I'm not eating all that well.

However, good news on the 6th scan I had on tuesday - baby has had a massive growth spurt and is now above average, rather than on the small side she was a couple of weeks ago. Find it a bit worrying actually as I'm only a really petite person (5ft 3in, was a size 6, weighed just over 6stone before pregnancy), and I'm currently carrying a baby that's nearly 6lb - with 4 more weeks to go!!! HELP!!!!!!!!! [SHOCK] Still, feel quite pleased with myself that I've managed to produce and successfully maintain a healthy baby.

BTW, got a really comfy sleeping/feeding bra from Asda - £7!! Bargain! I think I've got slightly weird boobs (well, TBH, who hasn't at this stage!) and was finding the more expesive bras uncomfortable, but was well chuffed to find the cheaper ones wearable - even if they don't last long it doesn't matter for that price.

Cot mattress being delivered today, and then I'm completely finished. Cat knows something is up and is being very clingy - which would be very cute if it wasn't for the fact she is now dropping fluff everywhere so the cleaning is on-going - may just hoover the cat instead Grin

Although it may feel like it, not long now everyone.....

diddle · 12/05/2006 11:47

Grin blobsmummy - don't hoover the cat!!!! I have found the same with bra's I am wearing a nice cheapie one from matalan, very comfy.

Lottielou - wish i was out in the garden Envy have had to wait in for a parcel this morning so couldn't take the little one out, but i'm going to slap some sun cream on and take him to the park this afternoon, he'll love it and so will I.
Baby has plenty of time to turn hun, although i can totally understand your concern. I am getting constant movements from baby at the moment but i keep trying to imagine what position he/she is in. Looking forward to seeing the doc on monday and getting her to tell me, she better not say its breach.
No cankles here yet, but my calves are still swollen, still got my rings on though which i am taking as a good sign. You must be running to the loo all the time with all those fluids Pretty tricky from your garden too, all those steps to go up first.

Lottielou · 12/05/2006 14:24

Blobsmuumy - pmsl at the thought of you hoovering your cat! Grin

Diddle - Well i lasted about 30 mins in the garden, got way too hat and had to come back in and lay down. Had some fresh air tho. And yes am running to the loo every 5 mins, not much fun! lol
Hope you're enjoying your time at the park if you went! x

elizabuff · 12/05/2006 17:07

Lilacbump - let us know how it goes at the hospital. Fingers crossed your baby will turn itself round - there's plenty of time! Mine was apparently all set the right way round but I have a horrible feeling she's moved to transverse since my last midwife appt. We'll see tomorrow tho, as the mw is coming to do my birth plan in the morning and i expect she'll give me a poke at the same time.

I haven't had my rings on now for about 5 or 6 weeks - CTS has given me ultar puffy fingers and my knuckles seem to disappear at different times of the day. Ankles now looking like balloons too (had to restrain myself from smacking my sis the other day when she casually remarked that my ankles looked like my nanna's, who is 93 and has everything wrong with her under the sun). Don't think the heat makes it any better but nice to get a bit of sun anyway. Luckily whichever way baby is lying, she isn't lying on my bladder, so apart from having uncomfortably numb hands and being too hot, I'm sleeping ok Grin

Oh, on the bra front, have a look on ebay. I got myself 2 the other day to stick in my hospital bag - one bravado for £13 and a debenhams Nurture one for £1.20! Both are brand new so it's well worth looking. Actually prefer the cheaper one!

RachelPross · 12/05/2006 20:45

Hi everyone. I'm due on 21st June and now feeling v uncomfortable and also v hot....the bump is like a portable radiator! Also having problems with bras....had trouble before but finding nice, comfy feeding bras in a 38G is not easy!!! I may have to look into getting parachutes or flour sacks converted! :o

not sure about birth balls, hoping for a water birth personally

RachelPross · 12/05/2006 21:01

what are the criteria to qualify for a maternity grant? Not sure if I qualify or not.

elizabuff · 12/05/2006 22:27

Rachel - have a look here to see if you qualify
\link{http://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/sb16/ssmg/ssmg_1.asp}

-don't know if link will work as I haven't doneone before Blush so just copy and paste it into your browser if not.

I think we get it because we qualify for the full family element on tax credit payments, but I'm fairly sure there are other criteria too. If you're not sure give your job centre a call and they should be able to help - it's certainly worth a try.

btw - 38G Envy Some of us can only dream!

Lilacbump - what's the birth ball useful for (apart from playing playstation games on Grin)? I was thinking about getting one but not sure if it'll just take up extra room. Do you recommend it or not?

vbab78 · 13/05/2006 10:11

Hello ladies. I had a lovely day off yesterday of doing house chores! So jealous of you ladies that got outside in the sunshine, I only managed to get out to put washing out. Yes sad I know. I've got it in my head that baby could come anytime so I run around like a nutter to get housy stuff done and organised on my first day off. Then I can rest for the rest of the weekend. I've got Monday off which is fab and then I finish work Friday. YIPPEE!

Starting to feel pregnant ...
My toes swelled up a little yesterday and my feet were hurting terribly you would think I had been for a long walk. Then last night I slept little because my thighs have been killing me to the point it kept waking me up, not a sign of labour is it?

On the note of swollen fingers ... mine don't appear swollen but I've not been able to get my rings on for about 6 weeks now, I have to wear them on a chain.

My fingers are crossed for you lilacbump that baby turns.

Elizabuff - I think you can use the birthing ball after birth for exercising, sit ups, press ups and so on. I have all these grand ideas about getting in shape once baby is born but I was a bit of a hit and miss exerciser before I got pregnant. Wish me luck Wink.

Sorry for the long post ...

diddle · 13/05/2006 10:25

Morning all - well its clouded over here in the w.mids. hope the sun comes back, our grass desperatly needs cutting, its like a wilderness.
Had very restless legs last night, sooo annoying, they weren't happy up or down or straight or curled (not that i can curl both anymore, but one stays under me if i sit on it Grin)
Feeling extremely uncomfortable now, baby is pressing on everything it possibly can, and is very active, my poor belly.
I also can't sleep, i was waking once or twice in the night for the last few motnhs, but the last week or so i have constantly woken, think my body is preparing me big time, feel exhausted today.
Our hospital has birthng balls on the maternity ward loads of them, its supposed to be a comfy way to sit to encourage gravity and not hurt your bum, plus you can use it to lean and rock on as well to help back pain. I hope to use one in the early stages with my tens machine, until i get into the water, if i have the waterbirth i really want.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
