666mummy: had a C/s last time and baby is breech at the moment, but had an elective section planned since I found out I was pregnant.
Hopefully things will start happening for you soon.
Lilacbump : Thats very exciting, hope things start progressing quicker for you. Good luck

blobsmummy · 01/06/2006 19:56

LilacBump - all the best. Our prayers/thoughts are definitely with you - hope things speed up a bit soon and baby heads south! Smile

666mummy · 01/06/2006 20:00

mitchell81: ok, hope that goes well for you, you cant hold your baby afterwards can you?? and are you breastfeeding??

RachelPross · 01/06/2006 21:42

Still nothing happening here, saw midwife yesteday and baby's head is still not even engaged. Finges crossed for next week's visit she'll be engaged by then. Not feeling so uncomfortable now just impatient to get my lo home :)

mrsbabookaloo · 01/06/2006 22:40

Lilac,

Hopefully you won't read this, as your labour has started progressing more quickly and you are actually having your baby now, but I'm sending good vibes anyway. I logged on this am, and saw that you'd started, and logged on again now thinking you might have had it. Sorry it's been so slow for you, and hope it's all moving now, and you are OK. Good luck!

vbab78 · 01/06/2006 22:46

Hiya Ladies, little update ... I'm now in my 39th week, due on Tuesday!

Been to see midwife today, everything fine and plodding along. Baby seems very comfortable. See midwife again next week, assuming nothing happens, when I will be 2 days overdue!

I really can't wait to see baby, finally decide on a name as all names I like are getting used up quickly and of course go shopping. However with this being my first I am more than nervous at the thought of child birth and being a parent.

666mummy: No you can hold your baby as soon after it has been delivered and while you are being stitched up. I will see how breastfeeding goes, I expressed milk for my dd, but never actually breastfeed coz she was in the neo-natal unit for afew weeks.

Mitchell81 · 02/06/2006 08:49

Congratulations Waswondering, hope to see you back here soon, so we can hear all about your little girl, Rachel Heather.(Pretty name)
I am also having an elective C/S on 16th, so would love to hear what you think.

vbab78 · 02/06/2006 10:05

Congratulations Waswondering and DH.

Has anyone any suggestions for girls names? Maybe to go with a middle name of Ann, but not definate?

Me and DH have found that the 2 names we loved have all been taken! So far the boy's name is ok ...

LilacBump · 02/06/2006 11:00

congratulations to waswondering. wonderful news!

and good luck to carwillin for her C/S today!

still no more news here. REALLY fed up of it all now. been having contractions for 41 hours and no sign of baby. i think i'm going for the longest labour in history...

hi everyone

i can't believe its june! i am due in june but because of complications and having an incompetent cervix which nearly let my baby out at 23 weeks i really thought my baby would come too early. now its june and i am estatic:)

i had my cervical stitch taken out and so im awaiting the birth normally like everyone else.
although i know if i stand too long my cervix will open painlessly and so i am trying to bedrest until wednesday as thats more convienient for baby to come.

lilacbump- my labours are the same a very long latent stage, although when contractions with my dd became painful i was already 7cm. i suggest watching some movies and trying to do normal tasks - not outta the house though! try and keep your mind occupied.

waswondering congratulations:)

Flum · 02/06/2006 12:10

Haven't been on for ages but am now playing the waiting game just like you lot. Due date is 11th and last baby came 12 days late so not counting my chickens.

Lilac bump - how exciting!!!! Try to get some rest now while you can or you will be exhausted when it comes to the crunch time.

Anyway this time it seems baby is head down back to left so perfect positioning. Hoping for vbac - water birth at hospital this time. C/s last time was due to undiagnosed breech, and meconium distress. Only had contractions for 3 hours but apparently was fully dilated so ready to dash to hospital quickly which is an hour away anyway. Also gotta drop dd off with friends on way so hope it not so quick this time.

TheHun · 02/06/2006 13:18

congrats was wondering. hope things speed up for you lilac bump. slept really badly last night, so uncomfortable. V sunny up here in NE, hope you are all enjoying sunshine.

blobsmummy · 02/06/2006 14:52

Waswondering and WW's DH - many congratulations Grin. The girls really are outstripping the boys being born on this thread! Hope you are home soon and feeling well.

Lilac - can't believe it's still going on for you Shock. Hope to hear productive news soon.

My parents have just gone on holiday for the weekend, so I bet things will kick off once they've arrived at their destination the other side of the country! Can't stand the thought of only having in-laws to visit me in hospital - will have to call on a few good friends to help use up visiting time otherwise DH's parents will hog the whole lot!

Weather forecast seems good for the weekend, so here's hoping the sunshine encourages the babies out........

RachelPross · 02/06/2006 22:17

Hi all. Congrats WW and WW's DH. Sorry to hear you're still labouring Lilac, hope baby arrives soon for you!!
Am now 37+2, v large and hoping for some movement in that direction soon!!!!:o

666mummy · 03/06/2006 08:18

congratulations ladies, who have given birth or are still waiting but v.chilled now not stressing our precious bundles out of us lol. im still waiting 40wks4days now, nothings happening but i know he'll cum when he wants to and not before. not lookin forward to sweep tomorrow, im a bit of a prude lol. and want a bit of dignity left after having this baby, dont understand what she will be achieveby doing this procedure anybody know?? seems my partner cud do it instead of a midwife with cold hands. today seems a nice day, hope i hear of more happy news soon...or got some to tell. x x x x (WINK)

AdelaideS · 03/06/2006 17:24

Thinking of you LilacBump and wishing you well, you've gone a bit quiat so I reckon it's all happening at last!

SuperSaint · 03/06/2006 17:28

Big congratulations to WW and good luck to LilacBump (hopefully you've already given birth and won't need luck just congratulations).

My little boy is now a week old and so far things are going okay. I'd forgotten how much new babies sleep - he wakes up for a feed then drops off straight afterwards! He is breast feeding well (but takes ages) and on Thursday had only lost an ounce and a half which is good.

DD is still very keen on him. She keeps putting blankets on him (not good in this heat!) and wants to help change every nappy. We've taken too long on more than one occassion and ended up showered in wee - I'm not used to it going in all directions!!

666Mummy - you make me feel old with your text speak. i can't understand half of your messages and have to read them out loud to myself!!

I have a couple of tips for the hospital. The ward I was in was boiling hot so only pack a light weight dressing gown. Don't bother with slippers as they'll be too hot, just take flip flops then you can also wear them in the shower if it looks a bit dirty. Finally, stock up on the maternity towels - I'd forgotten how many you get through, especially if you've had stiches like me and have to keep the area really clean and dry (sorry if TMI!). I'm getting through a pack of 10 a day.

I hope everyone else if feeling well and the babies arrive soon.

666mummy · 03/06/2006 18:03

soz, super saint il remember that but probably am the youngest on here, sounds like you've been blessed then with a good baby,Envy if he hasnt lost too much weight then was he a good weight to start with???

SuperSaint · 03/06/2006 21:18

666 - It's not a problem, I was just pointing out that I am old (33) and out of touch with the youth of today Grin.

Adam was 7lbs 1oz when born but most babies lose weight in the first week and can lose up to 10% of their body weight I think. The fact that he only lost 1.5oz shows he is feeding well (so the midwife said anyway). He is good at the moment but I doubt it will last. We're managing to get out and about quite a bit but I know life will get harder once DH goes back to work. At the moment one of us concentrates on getting DD ready and one the baby. When I have to do both myself I probably won't get out till after lunch!!

666mummy · 03/06/2006 21:46

you aint old!?!?! and i been told about how long it takes to get out the house, im guna be put in =at the deep end my partners guna be working right from thre start so il learn quickly hopfully how to manage to get out the house before 12.00 hehe.or il just stay indoors. my babys going to be heavy like me and his dad hopfully he wont lose weight to quick after birth because chubby babys are eatable?!?! haha. :) cant wait to hav a bundle like u,supersaint. xx x xx
