Hi. Many congratulations WW, and also excited to hear news from lilacbump, carwillin and bumpinsheffield.
Not seeing midwife or consultant now until pre-op. Feels very imminent finally, and that has kicked me up the bum to get the baby's room ready. The new cot is up (ds2 broke our old one) and i keep walking into the room and imagining....

AdelaideS · 04/06/2006 16:09

Congratulations WW, all sounds delightfully positive!

BABY2 · 04/06/2006 17:53

congratulations waswondering
lilacbump-hope you are holding you little one now.
Still nothing happening here yet 37+5 today. ds has gone to stay at his nanna's tonight as i am full of cold. Would be handy if this baby is born tonight, then i wouldent have to worry about finding somewere for him to stay when it happens, (nearest family is his nanna 65 miles away and ds labour was only 10 hours so thinking this one might be quick!!)

RachelPross · 04/06/2006 19:38

still nothing here either, now 37+5 and counting the days. Had to go in for monitoring yesterday as hadn't felt baby move for a while and was worried. She started moving again as soon as the monitor went on...typical. Apparently am having contractions of some description, must be bh tho as she said they are irregular, and not they aren't painful.

BABY2 · 04/06/2006 20:57

just noticed my last post said 37+5, i ment to say 38+5Blush i should know when he is due, i have been counting down for long enough.

666mummy · 05/06/2006 08:18

lilacbump: you keeping us all in suspense hehe. hope to hear from you soon.
it seems everyone is waiting for labour to start now, its exciting and gradually all of us on this thread will have our babies, but be prepared to be going till july ladies!?!?!
im 40wks 6days now, i had a sweep yesterday and it was traumatic v.intrusive and painful and it doesnt feel like it has worked, only had it done because of partner, he feels he hasnt got control while our childs in me!?!!?!? anyway wednesday i could have another sweep and will be given a date to be induced, its not the way i planned but i suppose this baby has to come out somehow, with or without extra help. not happy that they do procedures like membrane sweeps which clearly hurt!! with no guarantee they even work.....:( does anyone know if i was to be induced can i still use the birthing pool!?!?!?!?

vbab78 · 05/06/2006 09:11

Update ... my due date is tomorrow (666) but so far baby seems comfortable Sad. I've had a problem for over a week now where on an evening I lose the use of my right leg and it quite uncomfortable. My solution has been to go to bed and sleep through it which has worked. However last night BOTH my legs were very achy so much I hardly slept and when I did I felt like I wasn't fully rested. Anyone else had this? Is this a possible sign of imminent labour?

666mummy - Sorry to hear nothing is happening for you yet. However I wasn't particularly looking forward to a possible sweep, next week sometime if baby doesn't appear, but definitely feel nervous and uptight about it now Sad.

AdelaideS · 05/06/2006 09:22

666mummy, sorry to hear your sweep was a nasty experience for you. Just wanted to reassure vbab that I had a sweep with dd and it was absolutely fine.

mrsbabookaloo · 05/06/2006 09:31

Today is my due date, but I haven't had any signs at all of baby wanting to come out. I knew she would be late, so I'm not expecting her today...hope I don't have to wait too long though. I have a midwife appt, so we'll see what she says, and dh is coming, which makes it seem more like a special day: apart from that I'll just be cleaning....on my hands and knees like I'm supposed to!

I haven't had my show...does that always happen several days before...and therefore I have at least a few more days to wait?

vbab: losing the use of your leg sounds a bit worrying: maybe you should ring midwife? It might just be baby pressing on a nerve I suppose. I get very achy hips at night, but it's OK during the day.

vbab78 · 05/06/2006 09:39

AdelaideS - Thanks for the reassurance about the sweep. I will just have to see what happens and try and keep as relaxed as possible. After all I suppose we will all have to go through things we don't like to get our bundles Smile.

mrsbabookaloo - I mentioned the problem with my leg to the midwife last Thursday, she didn't seem worried. Just said it is probably, as you say, baby on a nerve as everything else is fine. The only other thing she said is "it's weird" with a puzzled expression that it happens around the same time each evening.

Good luck at the midwife appointment. Hopefully both our baby's will appear soon Smile.

I've had no show or anything either. Baby still seems quite active too.

docket · 05/06/2006 09:48

Hi all

Congratulations to all who've had their babies!

No sign of anything here either although due date not until friday.

vbab i've had problems with my right leg too, really sore and achy at the top and only in the evening. Really painful but seems to go away if I lie down and doesn't bother me in the mornings. Strange.

666 if you are induced you won't be able to use a birthing pool (or at least that's what they told me last time, I was induced)

TheHun · 05/06/2006 11:56

I'm 40+2 today, dd was 4 days early, really thought I wouldn't go past due date. Enjoyed weekend of sunshine with dh and dd. They're at work and nursery, just want baby now. I'm too nervous to drive anywhere now, do you think I'm being too cautious? With dd waters broke and I had her within 4 hours, worried if I go out will be caught out and end up delivering in tescos or somewhere.

thebecster · 05/06/2006 12:04

Just popping in from the May thread after a kind invitation from Mrs Babookaloo! I'm still waiting for my baby who is definitely going to be a June baby now (i'm 40 + 6, and going slowly insane with impatience!) Congratulations to all of you who've got babies already, am insanely jealous of you Envy, but happy for you as well :)

666mummy · 05/06/2006 12:08

vbab78: dint mean to make you nervous. maybe i didnt relax or summit.wouldnt mind the discomfort if it actually did summit!?!?!

im not happy that i cant use the birthing pool:( if im induced, really wanted to test it.

RachelPross · 05/06/2006 12:09

Am the same myself and only 37+6, worried about driving anywhere. Been having niggles for a couple of days now, just lots of pressure down there and v uncomfortable to sit down anywhere now. Think I may invest in a birthing ball today in an attempt to stay comfortable, got my TENS machine which is wicked. Midwife recommended wearing it 1 hr a day from 37 weeks, so started on Friday. Hope it'll be good when the time comes. DH has suddenly turned into Mr considerate and concerned....can't get used to it!!!

666mummy · 05/06/2006 12:16

rachelpross: was the tens machine good for you then!?!? do you reckon it might not be as effective if your contractions were in your back?!?!

RachelPross · 05/06/2006 12:24

Tens machine is good but as I say, not sure how good it'll be once I'm actually in labour. Knowing my luck the batteries will run out at the crucial moment. But my midwife's daughter used hers just the other week duing labour and it saw her through till she had to go into hospital at about 6cm dilated. That impressed me so i'm willing to give it a shot.

Does anyone know what I mean when I say that as one of the 1st of my friends to have a baby I'm feeling a bit like a social pariah as noone has been intouch for weeks. Think they think I've gown a 2nd head not a baby bump!!

Laura032004 · 05/06/2006 13:33

I'm with 666mummy on sweeps. I found the ones with DS fairly traumatic too. I will be declining them this time I think, esp as they didn't seem to work last time!

666mummy - re induction/water birth, when I had DS you could still have a waterbirth, depending on what type of induction you'd had (I think you could have had the pessaries and still used it). They would also let you in if you had had pethidine, so long as there was a bit of a gap between the injection and going in the pool

vbab78 - sorry to hear about your legs. I'm sure it is a nerve thing if the MW was blase about it, but doesn't make things any easier for you!

mrsbabookaloo - some people don't have shows at all, so you could be imminent and not know it!

Welcome to the Junies group thebecster :)

RachelPross - what sort of TENS machine did you get? I wanted a digital one, but they were out of stock in Boots, so I just got the normal one. Not sure of the make though. I had mine on for 24+ hours last time, and the batteries were fine.

My birthing pool and TENS machine arrived today. Very tempted to open them up now, but making myself wait until after DS has gone to bed tonight so I can have a quick nap now (he woke up at 5.30am!)

Laura032004 · 05/06/2006 13:35

Also, is this thread getting too long for anybody? I'm on broadband, so it's really quick, but I saw something on site stuff about splitting up threads that were getting too long.

diddle · 05/06/2006 13:39

waswondering - big big congrats to you and your family on the birth of rachel heather.

Mrsbabookaloo - You don't always have a show, some people don't have one at all, or it comes out during labour and they never see it, so don't worry we're all different.

Vbab - don't worry, baby will come when its ready, thats what i keep teling myself anyway. i am 39 +3 today, and want baby here now, but i have a funny feeling i will go over my dates by miles. can't imagine it coming this week. maybe i'm just scared.

666mummy - If you are induced then you can't have a water birth because they have to monitor you more closely, apparently. well thats the procedure at my hospital anyway.

Thehun - i would feel nervous about driving too, esp with such a fast first labour, don't stray too far unless you have to, and good luck.

Rachelpross - i am the first of my friends to have a baby too, and i don't seem to hear from them much, only from the ones that have children or are more child friendly. Although my close friends live miles away, so its not as easy to stay in touch.

Is anyone getting totally fed up of the phone calls and text messages from people asking if baby is here yet? even family who would obviously have been called if baby had made an appearance. Seriously considering not answering the phone. or saying yeh he/she arrived last week, didn't i tell you Grin

RachelPross · 05/06/2006 13:54

MY TENS is from boots but not sure if it's digital or not. whats the difference

RachelPross · 05/06/2006 13:55

just had a look on boots website and think it is digital.

TheHun · 05/06/2006 14:00

Diddle, I'm getting very fed up of people ringing to see if I've had baby yet then launching into you should try sex, curry, driving over road bumps etc etc. Although am planning more sex tonight, bit of an effort as I have spd and have to be very careful but convinced it helped start labour with dd.

diddle · 05/06/2006 14:04

see, i've given up hope of anything starting baby off at all. think they're all old wives tales, and pure coincidence.
we'll see. you let me know if sex works.

666mummy · 05/06/2006 15:25

thanx for that ladies a real help.
i would like a tens machine, did anybody hire or buy because its expensive either way isnt it?!?!?
is everybody on here roughly 20's to 30's!??!
dont wana single anyone out just probably myself lol.
