I've decided to chane my maternity leave, thought stuff it I'll have some time to myself. So I'll now be on mat leave from 37 weeks but adding holiday on means I'll be leaving at 34+6. 7 weeks today!! Yay!
For some reason I have a feeling this baby isn't going to hang around till 40 weeks.

Going hospital bag shopping this afternoon, how's exciting Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/08/2012 13:11

Welcome to the fastest moving thread in the world skoggy!

I've just been to h&m and got a really nice pair of straight leg jeans, lovely fit and v comfy in the sale for £10. Love a bargain they'll see me through to the end and I'm NOT buying anymore clothes! (except the dress for the christening)

Thechick · 30/08/2012 13:32

Fatima I changed mine. I thought I would be able to work up to 38 weeks but its not going to happen, so leaving at 36 weeks, I'm at home for one week then its half term so will have my boy at home with me which will be nice. I stop work 7 weeks and 1 day. Woohoo!!

I'm looking for some over the bump leggings, can anyone recommend??

YellowWellies · 30/08/2012 13:57

Bah I'm going to have to work to the bitter end if I'm to get my maternity allowance. Fecking HMRC. Will be doing lots of working from home. Like this. Ahem.

WaitingForMe · 30/08/2012 14:44

My favourite leggings are from LaRedoute Thechick. Got some ok ones from Matalan as well.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/08/2012 15:04

I am on leave from 34 weeks, but my last day at work is a growth scan!

Stupidly we move house next week, I just hope it goes more smoothly than the sale of current home and rental process of the next one has gone. It seems that however hard I try to be organised then there is always something else they need me to do. We are supposed to get the keys to the rental on Tues but my references are still going through the process. They managed to do DHs straightaway. We should have done it all just in his name.

What upsets me about the above is that I still don't feel I can even get excited about nesting until I know it has all gone through ok.

My best leggings are h &m actually.

Thechick · 30/08/2012 15:13

WRT leggings, did you use your pre pregnancy size??

Thechick · 30/08/2012 15:13

Thanks for all the legging advice!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/08/2012 15:23

I think so, they are a 12, but some of my clothes have now snuck up to a 14, DDs think that the baby must have grown this week.

StuntNun · 30/08/2012 15:27

Chick I got maternity yoga pants from Dorothy Perkins and they are sooo comfy over the bump but have a bootcut so they're a bit more flattering than leggings.

Different trusts have different policies with GTT. Some do it routinely to everyone, some for glucose raised in blood, glucose in urine, family history, large babies previously, obesity, advanced age etc, but they are all different. The lucky ones get Lucozade. I am guessing you guys were sent home with it? That is really lucky!

kirrinIsland · 30/08/2012 16:22

I'm starting mat leave at 35 weeks (using annual leave as well) and to be honest, it can't come soon enough. The past couple of days I have been feeling really tired and achy, although I now have my iron tablets so hopefully that will help.
I have also been feeling that this baby will come early, but I don't know why I think that - I expect that means I'll end up being induced at 42 weeks!!

applepieinthesky · 30/08/2012 16:46

I?m leaving at 35 weeks as well. I?ve got some holiday to take first then mat leave officially starts just before I?m 38 weeks.

I will definitely be ready by then. Just hope baby isn?t too late because I?ll be pulling my hair out with boredom.

I won the Jasper Conran coat I wanted on ebay. It?s £16 in Debenhams but I got it for £7 including postage. This is going to be one smart baby. He?s got a better wardrobe than me already Grin

ValiumQueen · 30/08/2012 16:49

My poor boy. Other babies on thread will be in Jasper Conran and he will be in pink nappies and have pink bedding.

kissyfur · 30/08/2012 16:57

Oo no valium I had to buy my own lucozade!

YellowWellies · 30/08/2012 16:58

Don't worry VQ mine will be in dylon dyed baby grows that were my nephew's, then my niece's - poor sod. Still they'll only puke on everything and will grow so fast. God am such a slummy Mummy already and the poor wee soul hasn't even arrived yet. When they are five I might get them nice clothes Grin

kissyfur · 30/08/2012 16:59

Otherwise it would have been the sugar water stuff, which sounds horrid

YellowWellies · 30/08/2012 16:59

Kissyfur that's rubbish! We get 'paid for' lucozade if you need the test - Orkney is doing pretty well in the NHS trust olympics stakes - new pee pots, free birth balls and free lucozade. Two midwifes per birth...

Still wish they could do epidurals and I didn't have the threat of an air ambulance / hurricane combination.

applepieinthesky · 30/08/2012 17:02

I had to pay £1 for the vile sugar water stuff.

You?ll win the prize for prettiest boy VQ Grin

applepieinthesky · 30/08/2012 17:13

My baby?s got Asda and Primark clothes as well. It?s not all Next and Jasper Conran.

Skoggy · 30/08/2012 17:49

Nought wrong with Adsa clothes. I think they are great. DD2 already has plenty of Asda stuff, some H&M and a suitcase of DD1's older stuff for when she reaches 3 months. Grin Going to find a few nice things for Xmas and have a spree on Ebay.

Cacacaz · 30/08/2012 17:57

Gosh I have been AWOL for ages, I think I have missed at least 2 whole threads, I have managed to keep up on the fb page though! I'm guessing it will take me a couple of days weeks to catch up with everyone's news!

Firstly welcome to all the newbies [ grin]

I hope everyone is well, and no one is suffering too much from aches, pains and gripes.

I have been poorly with whooping cough, which is not something I would like to experience again. I had a horrific cough, which I thought nothing of, but dh practically dragged me to the docs after almost 4 weeks. By this point I was told my body was fighting the infection do there was no need for antibiotics. I'm finally feeling much better with the occasional coughing fit thrown in for good measure. It has played complete and utter havoc with my pelvic muscles, highly embarrassing to begin with, thank goodness for tena lady!

I'm off to attempt to catch up although I will probably fail miserably.

Dixiebell · 30/08/2012 18:03

Just bought this www.etsy.com/transaction/79774388 height chart and an alphabet poster from them too for DS's new room. Only realised once bought it's shipped from New Zealand! Oops. Not too environmentally friendly! Also bought some hot air balloon wall stickers from eBay for 5.99. Want to get some curtains made to measure too, anyone know a not too pricey website that does it all for you?! We bought made to measure blinds before online that were a really good price but they don't do curtains.

WaitingForMe · 30/08/2012 18:05

My baby's clothes are a mix of Jasper Conran, M&S (Outlet), Matalan, LaRedoute and a bag of second hand stuff. I haven't actually found the supermarkets that inspiring nor any cheaper. I think Matalan will be where I'll be getting the majority in the future.

I've approached it all rather like I do my own wardrobe, mixing the odd expensive piece with stuff from Primark. I love clothes and make no apology for the fact I want my baby to look cute and stylish. I've already earmarked the funky giraffe bib that looks like a shirt and tie for my brothers wedding next summer. Everyone else will be making an effort after all as it's going to be a smart do!

Limpit80 · 30/08/2012 18:14

Welcome Skoggy Smile

Sorry to hear about yout whooping cough cacacaz, sounds terrible. Nice to meet you!

Having a bit of a day of it today, had to have a filling and wisdom tooth extraction this morning. Someone said upthread they were wondering how they would cope with birth when they found leg cramps so painful and I had exactly the same thought this morning when I was lay in the dentists chair. Hmm

Then we had to have Rentokil around as something had died for the second time underneath the floor boards and the gut recommended that we get an ongoing service plan at £500 for the year! I just feel like crying. I think I thought he was going to come with a magic wand and sort it out there and then!
