VQ you are bad Wink I'm trying to resist to buy them! As we're heading to the Baby Show on Saturday and hoping to do some bargains... Think DH will go mad if he sees another package with nappies arriving Wink I did send the link to my brother hinting he could buy an early present...

YellowWellies · 29/08/2012 13:40

That's rubbish. Have to say I can't fault the AA on this - they are awesome and arrived within 20 minutes and towed us to a hotel when we needed them earlier in the pregnancy - all because I was preggers. think DH can possibly now emotionally cope with me mentioning that we needed them because he put petrol in our, new to us, diesel car two days after we got it but sssshhh just in case Also had a lovely chat with the AA bloke and he was raving about how great a company they were to work for and how well they treat their staff. So that persuaded us to stick with them when it came to renewal time last month.

horseylady · 29/08/2012 14:11

My hr are pretty good!! They were really useful when I spoke to them. Finance awful but they have done all I asked of them!!

Mw appt was ok got proded and poked about!! Baby fine, head right in my pelvis, back to the left today and he once again kicked her. I got a new pot as I managed to lose the lid between taking it off and filling it lol!!

Tits hope you rescued soon!!

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 14:14

What?! An RAC man explained to me when the beloved pug blew up 90 miles from home how the priority system works. Basically to be top priority the car has to be on fire with a child stuck inside. Priority levels then drop with things like lone women, children, pregnant women etc so you should still be in the top few priority categories.

My car was blocking a main motorway and i was a lone pregnant woman and it still took them 3 hours to get to me!!

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 14:15

That said I couldnt tell them where I was... In the past I've played the lone woman card and they were always quite good.

horseylady · 29/08/2012 14:20

Makes mental note not to join rac but stick with green flag!!!

Also useless mw booked me in for appt in three weeks, but not me, someone else. Went to reception to change name on appt!! I'm seriously worried!!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/08/2012 14:22

Ah we don't get to choose who we are with we're lucky that DP is covered with his bank account and I happened to remember that was the case before he started phoning garages etc.
Anyway the alternator belt slipped and wrapped itself around everything and anything.

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 14:25

Well, drive did not go so well. Did not get off the driveway. Warning light for coolant. No coolant at all in the bowl thingy. I have coolant, but consider complete loss may be a sign of a bigger problem, like a head gasket. Waiting for my dad to call me back. I hope it is nothing serious or expensive. it took a lot of courage to get in the car -I seem to have lost a lot of my confidence since I fell, so I am feeling rather sad. It started first time, then this alarm started pinging with big flashy lights saying 'stop engine' etc. not good for an already-wound-up pregnant person of a certain age!

Argh sorry to hear of so much car trouble! It's such a nightmare and an expensive one at that!

Thechick · 29/08/2012 14:40

Lots of talking being done. I get to the end, refresh and there's another 5 posts.
Thanks for all the anemia advice and for letting me know its not just me. There was a lady on the midwife program yesterday who had low iron, i think her count was 7.2

Someone was asking about what we are wearing. I'm in a mix of maternity and normal dresses with my huge bump. I wore lots of dresses before getting pregnant and a lot of them came down to the boob and then were about knee length or were shift dresses ( i think that's the name) A line 60's type dresses, so have been wearing those mostly with normal leggings one size up. I have about 6 pairs long and short.

Have a very itchy pump today. Not good!!

horseylady · 29/08/2012 14:48

Just measured myself! Waist 32inch, bump at widest point is 36inches!

horseylady · 29/08/2012 14:49

Oh chick - my iron also low along with iron stores. Just given some tablets. Will see how they make me feel in the past I've been horrific!!

I can not believe I'm 31 weeks tomorrow?! Wtf?!

NervousAt20 · 29/08/2012 14:59

Making a list of things I still need to get. I want to get as much as possible so when little one comes we won't need much as money will be alot tighter esspecially coming up to Christmas so want to stock up on everything now by adding things in to our weekly shop so wondering how much of certain things I'll need like, how many breast pads do you need? And maternity pads? Your ment to wash LOs clothes separately in a certain kind of powder/tablets arent you? If so which one? I have a few nappies in different sizes and lots of cotton wool and then some wipes for when we move onto them... Hmm can't think what else but feel abit panicked today that there's still so much left to get

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 29/08/2012 15:23

nervous I needed loads of maternity pads last time round, had to send DH home for me and after showing him the pack etc and telling him where Hershey would be he bought me incontinence pad things which were bigger than the babies nappies!!! This time I have erred on side of caution and went for loads and loads! I had stitches last time and the big fat ones were quite comfy to be sitting on, I preferred boots but everyone is different. I liked to change them pretty often too. I have 6 packs of ten of the fat ones then the same of the thin ones with wings, also from boots. They were included in the baby 3 for 2 thing so well priced.

Breast pad wise I loved the Johnson baby ones. They have an indent for your nipple and were absorbent and stuck well. They're on offer in asda just now for 1.50 a box of 30. I have a few boxes of these and some lansinoh ones as well cos they come individually wrapped which is good for changing bag. Again its preference and some people don't even need them!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/08/2012 16:03

I've been picking up something each week with the weekly shopping, either breastpads/maternity towels also got normal towels for when it gets lighter.
I also have 2 big boxes o size 1 and 2 nappies each and 8 packs of wipes.
It spreads the cost out I find.

I got sudo cream in my bounty pack and I find that stuff lasts forever!
We use a non bio washing liquid anyway so that should be ok.
I got a pack of dummies in each type too just incase.
I've made burp cloths with a role of muslin and just hemmed them because they're chuffing expensive! I made some bigger to use as covers when I'm bf in public.

I'm still debating I wether or not to get a pump and a couple of bottles, DP says he would like to have a go at feeding the baby which I'm more than happy for him to do but will it stop him breast feeding so well?

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/08/2012 16:24

Well the asda baby event was poop. I ended up getting ds a few things and the baby nothing.

I've got loads of tesco clubcard vouchers which I'm going to double up and get the baby things from there so didn't really want to spend much in asda.

Me and ds have made rice krispie cakes this afternoon now chilling out watching Come Outside (his fav programme, I've got 31 eps recorded!)

kissyfur · 29/08/2012 16:46

I was one of those people that didn't need breast pads izzy I bought 3 boxes and didn't use any! Gave 2 boxes to a friend and have 1 box left for this time just incase.

I bought some nappies with my tesco club card vouchers too. Just need to get lots more maternity pads for me and maybe some nice yoga style roll top tracksuit bottoms.

I was thinking of getting one of those lamb skin (i think that's what they are anyway) fluffy things to go in the car seat/ buggy. Anyone used one of those b4?

Sorry to hear about the car vq good news on the moon boot coming off tho!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/08/2012 16:49

I had a lamb skin for DS2 and I loved it, this time we found a genuine cosy toes in tk max so I got one of those. Smile

DonnaDoon · 29/08/2012 16:51

Horsey Valium I cant believe we are 31 wks tommorrow....seems only 5 mins since we announced the 24 wk mark :)

kissyfur · 29/08/2012 16:53

What was the make of lamb skin that you got tits? Not seen genuine cosy toes either so will have a google Smile

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/08/2012 16:55

I can't help you with that one we got ours from New Zealand from a farm that made them from their lambs. It was sooo soft!

The cost toes is also very soft and fleecy and has lovely bright spots on it although I fear it may get dirty easily (as the lamb skin did)

WaitingForMe · 29/08/2012 16:56

Brockle - Thanks for the advice re. iron tablets. I?ve just been put on a high dose and will take religiously (doubt it?ll be hard as I?m feeling lousy although I will struggle a bit with tea).

YellowWellies - I?m entitled to £30 p/w maternity. I?m electing to take nothing so there is no limitation on when I can work. Not that I plan on doing much but it's not enough to limit my options.

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 17:08

waiting are you ni exempt? I am at the moment but tempted to back date and make voluntary payments so I could be entitled to a lot more but it would mean working to 38 weeks. Ahhh!

horseylady · 29/08/2012 17:15

Donna I know!!!!

My horse is bloody stupid!! I'm just saying. Stupid, stupid mare!!!

In other news we have 6 ducklings :) one egg was also cracking so hopefully well have a good 10 more ducks!!
