MissMummy - Yup, NI exempt due to low earnings last year. I didn't realise backdating was an option, I'll look into that. Thanks.

MissMummy1 · 29/08/2012 17:37

I'm not entirely sure it is - don't hold me to it! I still need to make that phonecall... I've been told by a few people though that you can do it. I think I will only need to backdate a 6 weeks or so (and all in this tax year) so it shouldn't be too bad..

Brockle · 29/08/2012 18:04

Your welcome waiting. I didn't want to sound patronising or anything its just I ended up with a transfusion after DS1 and looked like a ghost. It wasn't nice and I still kick myself that I didn't flag how exhausted I was until a MW took one look at me at 36/37 weeks and took my blood again. It was 10 when she tested but after the birth I went down to 6.5.

I have my 28 week bloods tomorrow and it is the one thing that worries me despite being fine with DS2.

I think you just need to lay of tea 1 hour/30 mins before and after taking them as the caffeine blocks iron absorption a bit. I will now remove myself from the soapbox!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/08/2012 18:11

Is anyone wearing maternity knickers? Sorry to be so personal but after being stuck in the car for 5+ hrs my normal underwear was cutting in so bad I think I'm going to have to give in and buy some maternity pants/bras. I can find loads of bras around but not many places selling packs of knickers, can I get away with just bigger sized regulars do you think? Although saying that I like over bump things, anyone have any recommendations?

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 18:18

8 weeks tomorrow for me then Shock due to section.

Car seems ok following putting coolant in. I will check it each time I go out to see if it is going down quickly. Apparently it is a weakness of this model.

Driving is very comfy for my foot, but walking hurts like buggery after taking the boot off. Especially my toes, it felt like they were cramping constantly for a good few hours after the school run.

I think I over did it this afternoon.

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 18:23

M&S no longer sell maternity knickers apparently. mothercare do, at a premium. I am wearing belly huggers from Asda. They were about £4 for 5 pairs. Make sure you get the ones with lycra, and a couple of sizes bigger than usual. Not as nice as over the bump ones, but quite comfy.

Dixiebell · 29/08/2012 18:53

kirrin, DS (23 months) swapped a month or so ago from Baby sleep bag to duvet & pillow. He's still in cot, but before with sleep bag he used to wriggle around cot like anything, now seems to stay put. Big boy bed next.

Thechick · 29/08/2012 19:02

Brockie, I'm curious to what mine is. My was 10.5 at booking in bloods and doctor said it has gone done from that at my 28 bloods. Won't find out for a couple of weeks when I see midwife.

StuntNun · 29/08/2012 19:16

Kirrin my DS1 has always slept like that and still does. You never know what position he will be in when he wakes up. He has also been known to climb inside his duvet or sleep under a pillow on a pile of books. I feel sorry for his future girlfriends! Both of my boys were moved to single beds as soon as they started to climb out of the cot but I left the cot mattress on the ground next to the bed until they stopped falling out. Occasionally I would find them asleep on the mattress on the floor having fallen out of bed then gone back to sleep! Would a sleeping bag or grobag help keep a child in bed? The Gro company do sheets that attach to the bed so they can't fall out but they're quite expensive.

I asked DH if he thought my tiredness could be due to being low in iron but he just accused me of trying to get extra steak rations. Sad

jaylee89 · 29/08/2012 19:29

on the subject of big pants i got some lovely ones from primark which were 1.50.

they are a little like pants but also frenchie ones if that makes sense they are seemless and OOOO so comfy they have nude white and black ones. i live in them as they just feel super comfy and do not dig in at all. they just sit on me iyswim.

anyone elses "foo foo" feel really bulky like puffy sort of? sorry to be a bit personal but mine seems to be. Confused

Brockle · 29/08/2012 19:29

I was 11.5 at mine with DS1chick but for some reason it dropped after that. I got a second set done with DS2 at 34 weeks just to check I was still ok and will be asking for the same again if it is 11 ish this time. You can get your levels back up you have lots of time just be extra good with taking them.

I always try and bag extra steak rations stunt Grin Hips are seriously hurting after stupid trip to legoland yesterday. Back at work next tuesday and dreading it. Just don't think I can last to 36 weeks Sad

I am jealous that you will see your little boy in eight weeks VQ Smile

ValiumQueen · 29/08/2012 20:05

brockle he won't be little Grin

Blisters on my poorly foot suggest I have indeed overdone things.

kirrinIsland · 29/08/2012 20:19

Thanks Dixie and stunt I had wondered about putting a sleeping bag on her but I was a bit concerned in case she was really determined to get out and fell because of it! (she does have her Dad's stubborn streak determination!)
She is currently asleep on her mattress on the floor, and it was surprisingly easy - not looking forward to the morning though, have a feeling it might be an early one!

I have been wearing seamless "shorts" knickers, 1 size bigger. They are very comfy but do tend to roll down a bit. Won't be buying anything different now though. Mine are from matalan, but I can't remember how much I paid for them as I got them when pregnant with DD1.

10 weeks left for me, I expect it will fly by - it seems to have gone quite slowly up to now

(and jaylee - yes Blush )

horseylady · 29/08/2012 21:12

Detective I tend to look on money saving expert for stuff like that!! Were with virgin but pay similar to you!!

Think my iron was about 9 and my stores about 11.

Just had a bizarre conversation with a chap I do some work for. His wife is expecting and is due in march. Apparently she's not coping very well with the sickness etc is very hormonal and told him to eff off in the middle of a shop. He's not being very sympathetic toward her, and I did say cut her some slack!! Seriously, were not wonder women and people handle things differently!

TheDetective · 29/08/2012 21:13

I'm with Virgin too Horsey!

Passmethecrisps · 29/08/2012 21:20

Evening all,

30 weeks today. Have spent most of the day with a body part of some sort in my rib cage - most uncomfortable.

Today it has felt a bit like the baby is rolling out the way. There are swells in my tummy and it feels like the baby is leaning out against my skin. Most disconcerting.

In class today kids were having a discussion wich involved the word twat. This is genuinely the only word my mum never allowed me to say soni told them this and, in jest, told them I didn't want my inborn child hearing such language. After their astonishment that it might be able to hear them they then decided they should teach it German by speaking entirely in German. It didn't last long as none of them actually speak any German. It made me laugh a lot though.

Sorry to hear about car troubles - mine is a constant hassle as well. I have had bad experiences with breakdown recovery. I think it was the RAC when I crashed my car in snow a couple of years ago. I wanted to go to my garage but their ridiculous route mapping system said it was too far. It certainly was too far when they looped around the Kincardine bridge back and forward. An RAC man stopped in his van and spoke to them and explained that my destination was well within the 15 mile limit but no. They took me 15 miles in the opposite direction meaning my husband had to travel 30 miles in shocking weather to collect me. Oh, and that was after trying to upgrade my membership to the kind that would take me home. The woman I was put through to went to process the request and told me it would take 24 hours. I was in the car in the snow and their own staff had suggested I upgrade. Bizarre.

Passmethecrisps · 29/08/2012 21:21

Lol detective I read that as you were a virgin. I was pulling a confused face

TheDetective · 29/08/2012 21:29

Maybe I am passme one should never assume Shock

FatimaLovesBread · 29/08/2012 21:36

detective I'm with virgin too. As far as I know, with them you don't have to have a phone line for the broadband with it being cable rather than adsl so maybe check up on that? Might know a bit off the bill?

kissyfur · 29/08/2012 21:37

Just the one mind, and only once a week Wink
