I had my 28wk bloods on Friday, doctor called today and said I'm anemic and I have to take iron tablets again. I have been having issues with my iron since before pregnancy so that doesn't surprise me at all and had to take iron tablets after 10 wk bloods but they didn't check iron again after i finished taking them. Doctor did say the results are worse than the ones from my 10 wk bloods and said I will have to take them 3 times a day religiously until I give birth, yay!! I've googled which I shouldn't have done and pre term labour came up a few times which is not good, and even stillbirth, but i'm sure its a really low risk and if only if you are still anemic at the time of birth. Will give my midwife a call tomo to see what kind of risk it actually is. I had no issues with my first pregnancy, with this one its one this after another.

Welcome to the thread limpit

YellowWellies · 28/08/2012 17:46

Welcome Limpet!

MissMummy that old banger - by my logic must make you a secret knight of the realm? Grin

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2012 17:52

Welcome limpet you will soon get used to things on this thread Grin

I drove a VW Beetle when I was young and it was my pride and joy. It had to be scrapped after I paid £800 to get something fixed, and then the chassis disintegrated. I had it on my drive for 2 years before I could bear to part with it. 7 years ago I swapped my Micra with my parents Volvo estate J reg as I was getting married. That died last year, and we got, with Mum and Dads help, a VW Touran. The amount we save on petrol is actually paying for the car! Had a few problems with it, and not as comfy or roomy as the old beast, but it is nice.

The veg oil car sounds cool Grin

kirrinIsland · 28/08/2012 18:12

Welcome limpet :)

thechick I've just had that very same call from my midwife. I pick up my iron tablets tomorrow. My levels weren't that low though, and I'm not going anywhere near Dr. google!

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/08/2012 18:35

Welcome limpit :)

The top of my bump feels bruised I think it's where it's growing higher up. I can feel the top of it about an inch above my belly button.

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 18:35

Hahaha yw surely you remember the little red peugeot?! It was my pride and joy! (much to my mums annoyance...)

Like you we're hiding our wealth so well our bank managers are clueless too!

Off to yoga. Will report back later. Situation with landlord escalated after my last post. Long story short the twat has saved us the job of having the locks changed and I am making a statement to the police tomorrow against her for harrassment. Sigh... (on the plus side dh bought me choccie buttons - this is progress!)

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 18:36

Oh and welcome limpit! another yellow one here!

YokoUhOh · 28/08/2012 18:40

Hi ladies, am I too late to introduce myself? DS1 is due November 22nd but I have an 8 week teaching term to contend with before mat leave... won't mention the 6 week holiday Hope you're all doing well :)

Welcome Limpit!
Hello Yoko, you're due the day before me Grin

Thanks for everyone above, I spoke to the midwife. She thinks it's low blood pressure and said that can cause the vomit as well, especially as i've been suffering with heartburn. Been told to take more paracetamol and fluids and have an easy night, see how I feel. I've got a midwife appt on friday so they'll check my blood pressure then.

A friend of mine had a baby yesterday Smile she was booked in for a CS in 10 days but he decided he couldn't wait that long so she ended up having a CS yesterday. He's so cute. Everyone I know recently have given birth earlier than expected Confused Might have to pack my hospital bag soon Grin

I have my blood test on friday, wonder if i'll be anaemic. The booking in results had haemoglobin just below the lower limit but nothing was mentioned so they must have been ok with that. My mum was ridiculously anaemic when she had me, the midwife had to ring her and tell her to go to bed and not get out until my dad had got some iron tablets and she'd had a few doses Smile

LittleLolly · 28/08/2012 19:24

Hello and welcome limpet and yoko!

Had my 31 week midwife appt today. Had a different midwife and...........

she gave me my full wee sample pot back and told me to dispose of it, wash the pot out and re-use!!! I'm shocked and horrified after being spoilt for so long with a fresh pot every time!! on the plus side, fundal height has dropped from just over 90th centile to between the 50th and 90th (70th?) so am hoping baby might not be such a big whopper after all!

Also, doubled some tesco clubcard vouchers in store and bought 160 pampers nappies for £10 worth of clubcard vouchers. Good bargain.

And finally, saw the posts about yoga pants so took myself off to TK Maxx and got some super comfy ones for £15. Big roll up waistband which my big bump fits into nicely Grin

3 shifts left at work, woohoo!! Then it's annual leave for 6 weeks, maternity officially starting at 38 weeks Smile

StuntNun · 28/08/2012 20:01

Welcome Yoko - two newbies in one day!

Lolly the percentile between the 50th and 91st is the 75th bizarrely. How do they work these things out?

Hello and welcome limpet and yoko

I've just had to bail on dinner with a friend at wagamamas tonight as DH is held up at work so can't get home to babysit Sad. Disappointed as had been looking forward to a chicken katsu with extra sauce since about 3pm today! Instead I'll probably be having beans on toast. Not quite the same.

kissyfur · 28/08/2012 20:18

Welcome yoko!

rowing Wagamamas chicken katsu is my all time fave too, have tried making it at home with the blue dragon kits but it just isn't the same! Sorry you missed out Sad

kirrinIsland · 28/08/2012 20:27

Welcome yoko :)

rowingdowntheriver · 28/08/2012 20:27

Me too kissyfur! There was a stage when I had one a week for about a year as it was so near the office. In fact pretty much the whole team did - we'd either turn up en masse or get take away if we were really busy. Everyone ordered exactly the same except a veggie who ordered Aubergine katsu!

misslaughalot · 28/08/2012 20:44

Welcome limpet and yoko, nice to have new arrivals on the thread. I'm team yellow too!

Can't believe how many of us have bought the Chicco monitor! Great they were back in stock online today.

I got a bite on my bump on Sunday night, and today it's so itchy! The little bugger of an insect bit right through my top, it wasn't like I was putting my bump on display.

On a positive note I've just sold our old double bed for £87.50! I bought it 5 years ago for £100 so am pretty pleased with how much it went for! More pennies for the baby fund!

I have the glucose tolerance test on Friday. No-one's come out positive here yet have they? Not looking forward to it really but I guess it has to be done.

WaitingForMe · 28/08/2012 20:52

Love the car story MissMummy. My business has no debt. It stressed me out a bit on holiday as I had three outstanding invoices that I was counting on to pay the final balance for my website but I prefer living that way. I can walk away if I just can't do it with a baby and our home is secure on affordable mortgage payments. I'm not risk averse but cannot see the point of snobbery over shallow things and I'm sure I'll be a small business success story because I refuse to hire office space, drive a fancy car and show my rate cards on an Ipad (though I really really want to!).

I'm a bit worried about you Fatima. I'm another that would like you to call triage. You know you're not meant to cause concern to pregnant women right? Wink

kissyfur · 28/08/2012 20:53

rowing it's so funny how everyone always orders the katsu at Wagamamas! When I was travelling I trudged around Sydney for an hour with a v heavy backpack on looking for the Wagamamas that I'd seen when I first visited because I was longing for a katsu and some edamame beans! They were so worth it when I finally got them Grin

I've got to go have GTT on Thursday laughalot not looking forward to the hunger!

WaitingForMe · 28/08/2012 20:57

Oops should've refreshed the page again before posting!

rowingdowntheriver · 28/08/2012 21:00

Yes kissy I forgot the edamame beans! I always get them to eat while waiting for the katsu!

I used to live near to the wagamamas in Darling Harbour in Sydney - wonder if it was that one you went to?

YellowWellies · 28/08/2012 21:00

It has to be yaki udon at Wagamamas! And the gyoza mmmmm

misslaughalot · 28/08/2012 21:02

Kissy I totally agree. 12 hours without food?!

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 21:02

Pregnancy yoga was AMAZING! Now feeling v v chilled. Recommend it to everyone (yw I deman you join if you move down here before junior arrives, and the wonderful lady runs mummy and baby yoga for afterwards). It really was fantastic. The woman running it was so warm and lovely and clearly loved her job.

And the best bit - free cake at the end!
Off to cuddle up on the sofa with dh and watch the midwives Grin
