Not caught up on this morning's posts but I need a moan...

Had the morning from hell. Midwife cancelled my appointment this morning and the next one is 2 weeks away. Fine. But then between almost getting written off in the car by some stupid woman on my side of the road to having to phone the police to have my deranged ex landlord removed as she threatened to break the door down after endlees abusive phonecalls from her... Thank god I'm not getting my blood pressure taken today! Hopefully my first prego yoga class tonight (and the massive bar of chocolate hiding in the car, don't tell DH!) will help me chill out...

Off to retrieve said chocolate and catch up on all your chat.. And think of more reasons to justify buying a video monitor when we already have a normal one...

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 14:50

Still feelin crappy but nearly home time.

Dizziness and lightheadedness is a symptom or low blood pressure isn't it? Rather than high?

YellowWellies · 28/08/2012 15:28

Tell DH next time he can grow a baby he can pass opinion on chocolate! Cheeky man - does he not know that chocolate is an essential part of baby knitting? Sounds like a rubbish morning - boo - hope you have a lovely evening at preggo yoga. Bet it will be amazing. Where are you doing it? Woo we might be down in Fife in September too, as we've had lots of interest in our house (before it's even officially on the market, gotta love the Orkney grapevine) so DH wants to go house hunting. Whoop!

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2012 15:37

Yes fatima usually anyway.

NervousAt20 · 28/08/2012 15:48

missmummy sounds like you've had a terrible day! You new then deserve that chocolate. Enjoy Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 15:51

That's good. I was worrying myself that I've got preeclampsia Confused

GTbaby · 28/08/2012 15:51

Very busy weekend. Pelvis feels awful. Seeming midwife later so will discuss. Have a pee sample ready in my new pee pot which I picked up last time Grin

Got a splitting head ach now tho. So been orders to bed by DH. As he wants to go for ice cream after MW appointment. Lol. Fair enough. I'm not going to complain. Grin

It's 9 week count down for me now. OMG

GTbaby · 28/08/2012 15:53

Argh! Just checked app and it's 8 week count down! Oh oh. Scary.

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2012 15:53

Things to look for with pre-eclampsia, are headaches, especially frontal, flashing lights or disturbed vision, and swelling, particularly of face. Urine may show protein and BP will be high. Hope you are ok fatima

applepieinthesky · 28/08/2012 15:54

With pre-eclampsia you have high blood pressure. Sounds like yours might be a bit on the low side fatima

Dixiebell · 28/08/2012 16:06

Okay all you lovely OCDers...need some advice Wink. DH has got it into his head that we ought to have the carpets cleaned top to bottom before the baby arrives. Fair enough as we've generated a fair bit of dust with building work in the last few months. But I've no idea where to start...anyone ever had a professional company in to do it? Will they literally move all the furniture, and clean under the beds etc.? Even if there's stuff hoarded under the beds? Anyone got any recommendations? I guess the alternative is to hire something and do it ourselves. Although I don't fancy moving the stuff under the beds..!

DS back at childminder today after 3 weeks off (2 weeks holidays and then 1 week unexpected where CM had shingles so couldn't work, nightmare!). He was v sad to be left there, crying 'want mummy, want mummy', and clinging to me like a little monkey. Sad Sure he's had a whale of a time once he got over it though.

Trying to sort out his new room (and big boy bed) before new one arrives. Really want these wallstickers, but at £40 plus, can I justify it?! Anyway, first job is to get rid of all the junk in the spare room (and clean the carpets!!!)

27 weeks today. I will be one of the last I bet, was the same with DS on the Sept 2010 thread, he was due 25/9 but came 3/10, I had to watch all these other birth stories appearing on the thread whilst sitting around with my bump still! And now I still post on the Sept thread, even though he was an October baby in the end.

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 16:11

Yeah that's what I thought. Was v dizzy on the point of passing out this morning which I just put down to low blood pressure. But then i was sick and i have had a headache all day and a bit woozy. Not especially swollen. But I've had chest/shoulder pains but that could just be due to my heartburn.

Arghhh I must not google. Don't want to ring the midwife and bother them with nothing. And I've got my midwife appointment on Friday anyway

kirrinIsland · 28/08/2012 16:21

Hope you feel better soon Fatima - try drinking a bit more if you think your blood pressure might be low?

Enjoy your chocolate missmummy :)

rowing Rory is my favourite boys name ever. Unfortunately I'll never be able to use it as there are too many Rs in our surname and I'd have trouble convincing DP it's Arabic

Shelly I've got a whole house kitchen that needs bleaching if you've got a spare moment :)
I have just gone round with the tickling stick and removed cobwebs (whilst trying to ignore the fact that cobwebs = spiders) but that's as much as I'll be doing today.

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2012 16:21

dixie they are lovely, but it is £40 for the small ones! I got some for DD2 and she peeled them off bit by bit. They were only from the pound shop, but I was still annoyed. I am sure he had a lovely day, but 3 weeks is a long time to be away. Poor him and poor you!

I had a productive day, attempted to tackle the soon-to-be nursery, currently the junk room. Found lots more baby clothes, so sorted out into gender, putting girl stuff away to be sold or donated, and sized the boy appropriate stuff. Now have lots of teeny vests and gros to keep the rest of the clothes company in his drawers, and also found the nighties (pink is ok when that young and overnight) and the scratch mits, socks, and sock-ons (also pink).

Also found the Fuzzis (nappies) that I used before. I have 16 small ones, 10 medium and 10 large, and a few inserts. Also found a motherease and a onelife so have washed all the inserts, large nappies and one sizes to use on DD2. Small ones, including one pink one, are in boys cupboard. Up to six months I really do not think it matters if he has the odd pink nappy.

Moon boot coming off tomorrow hopefully. I cannot wait to drive again!!!!

I am not buying another monitor. I am not. No matter what you guys say. Or if I am the only one without one. No. Not me. Not easily led. I have my own mind. I am not a sheep. I can resist an absolute quality bargain.

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 16:22

Phew caught up!

Sorry you're feeling so crappy fatima. I'd maybe get yourself seen to if you're at all worried about pre-eclampsia.

yw some idiot has told him if i eat sugar our baby will be diabetic?!? Twat. Yay on the house front!! How exciting?!?! It's a class in inverkeithing actually. Type theyoga into google and it should come up. Looks really good and a friend of mine went for the few weeks before her due date (she didnt know she was preggers till nearly 8 months?!) Bit nervous but really looking forward to it.

Loving the car debate! On the old banger front, up until April I drove - and still would had it not been for his dramatic motorway death Sad - a 14 year old peugeot with biblical mileage on the clock. I paid £600 for it knowing it didnt have much life left in it and kept it for nearly 3 years and another 60000 hard miles of my abuse. Not a single panel on it wasnt dented and I ran it on used cooking oil (and nail polish remover once..) and I loved it! It broke down on a monthly basis, not a single thing on it worked properlty (including the fuel gauge which accounted for at least 60% of breakdowns) but it was mine. A lot of my uni mates were running around in brand new minis - financed with mummy and daddy as guarantor of course - and are still making monthly payments for cars they probably no longer own. The mini snobs always looked down their noses at my chip-smelly rust bucket - and one family member my uptight dad even made me park it round the corner so noone would assume it was his -but those who knew me well knew it was just an extension of my personality. The best bit was, when the car finally gave up blew up on a major motorway, I got back £300 in scrap value... And another £900 for the number plate! Added to the fact it probably saved me about 4 grand in fuel running it on veg oil, the car didn't owe me a penny.

I will never ever buy a new car. It's replacement is a 9 year old (unfortunately petrol - my cooking oil days died with the peugeot) car which will do us for another few years of daily abuse. Bangers are definitely the way forward! except dh's 16 year old landrover, it's an expensive death trap cluttering up our driveway

Wow epic post! Basically though, I've lived in a nouveau riche barret box housing development with the audi and range rover drivers. What the perfectly-manicured-gardens badge snobs fail to realise though is the banks and finance payments own it all!! I know a few millionaires and to look at them you'd never know. They're the quirky guys walking round tesco in odd socks driving the crappest cars in the carpark...

StuntNun · 28/08/2012 16:24

Dixie we hire a carpet cleaner from B&Q. You hire the cleaner for the day or for 24 hours and buy the shampoo you need. It's really cheap, something like £40 all in as we do it about every six months (two kids, one dog, one cat and old carpets!) You can also get shampoo to do your car seats - cheaper than a valet! The machine's quite heavy but you just have to push it around. My DH hires it for 24 hours and does our house, his parents' house and the car upholstery so we certainly get our moneysworth.

fatima I would give triage a quick call. Headache and shoulder or chest pain and sickness concerns me a bit. Just to be on the safe side, please Smile

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 16:27

*finance companies

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 16:29

dixie I win. Grin 27 weeks on Thursday. Anyone after me?!

kissyfur · 28/08/2012 16:49

I got one of the bargain monitors too! Smile sorry valium Wink

Re: the carpet cleaning I recently had some new carpet laid by one of our friends who is a carpet fitter, asked him about cleaning carpets then and he said not to get them cleaned with shampoo cleaners as they always leave a bit of water behind and that soaks into the underlay, mixes with the dirt and then comes back through the carpet. Also the water rots the underlay apparently. He said to just spot clean and regularly Hoover with a Dyson.

I used to have a old banger corsa with a big dent in the side, but the 'orange light of death' came on when I was driving to work just before DD arrived, and it would have cost more than it was worth to repair so we got a newer car
