Woo thanks ladies - we'll definitely be going for that chicco monitor as it's half the price of the one we were going to get (BT 1000). Darn that it's out of stock online at the mo' but fingers crossed we'll get hold of one next month as planned.

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 17:23

They probably only had a dozen monitors in the event. Bastards!

MissMummy1 · 27/08/2012 17:25

YW It's such a good deal - the same one is over £100 on Amazon and selling for more than £45 second hand on eBay. Wonder if they have it instore? Might need to disappear out for an hour when I get the car back tonight...

Passmethecrisps · 27/08/2012 20:19

That sounded like a great deal on the monitor - shame I seem to have missed it this time.

I had a total can't be bothered day today. I love my job and teaching the kids make me laugh - their constant questions and funny comments are hilarious and often touching. The problem is the other stuff. Stuff that other years I fire through with great gusto is just annoying now. I feel dreadful for it and I am still doing the work but I just am finding it so difficult to motivate myself. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Actually, maybe baby had a can't be bothered day today as well. I was getting pretty anxious by the time I was driving home as I had felt so little all day. I was poking and prodding and nothing at all. However, as soon as I got home I was getting proper stomach shaking kicks.

Anyway, sitting watching telly and drinking tea while enjoying some kickage.

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 20:40

Not feeling baby much can have such an impact on us. Hopefully tomorrow will be better pass

Passmethecrisps · 27/08/2012 20:47

You are right VQ. It makes such a difference feeling it wiggling about. Tea, a bath and an early night should see us both sorted

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 20:50

It is amazing how much love you can feel for someone you have yet to meet.

YellowWellies · 27/08/2012 21:21

V true VQ. I'm amused that junior seems to be allergic to work - my irritable uterus seems to only kick in when I'm sitting at my desk at work. Still I'm now officially shirking from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays - the joys of freelancing, so will see how effective I am working laid on my side like a Roman diner Grin Must get a birthing ball to bounce on too as that seemed to really help. Any cheap recommendations - am I ok to just use a fitness ball rather than paying the 'baby premium'?

FatimaLovesBread · 27/08/2012 21:28

YW I got an exercise ball from amazon, I linked to it on another thread and I think someone else got the same one. Just check that it's anti-burst so it will deflate slowly rather than explode if you do manage to pop it. My heavier than me BIL was rolling around and bouncing on mine last week like a child and it held up well.

I went to the asda baby event in store today, didn't end up getting anything but pretty sure they had the monitor. They had quite a few different ones. They didn't have the tommee tippe starter set though. Decided I'm just going to get a set of smaller bottles and the hand held breast pump in the tesco event on wednesday. We've got a microwave steriliser but it's an avent one. Might just use boiling water

Passmethecrisps · 27/08/2012 21:31

yw sounds awesome!

Do you all still have jackets that fit? None of mine close anymore. I was thinking I might get away with just what I have but now I am not so sure.

ShellyBobbs · 27/08/2012 21:38

Yellow I got one for a tenner at Decathalon the other week and it's just a gym ball. As long as it doesn't pop when you are mid bounce they are fine, the maternity ones just go down very slowly so you don't crash on the floor.

I must be mad but I'm going camping tomorrow! 29 weeks preggers, it should be a sight me trying to get up off an air bed, think it will involve me crawling into the main bit and using a chair to stand up with Grin My hubby has also stated on many occasions that he thinks I'm mad to want to go and even offered to call it all off just an hour ago, but it will be an experience and the pictures we will take will be invaluable.......

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 21:48

shelly you may well be more comfy on an air bed than you are at home. I have a SIM and getting up off that would be challenging.

pass I got a wet tummy today on the school run as my raincoat only did up at the bust! I have a poncho from last pg and need to get that out to use.

ShellyBobbs · 27/08/2012 21:51

I would be if hubby didn't have to share it, I've a feeling I'll just end up rolling into his back (he's a big piece) but I have packed the spare one just incase :) I am also taking my 50 pillows and quilt with me too..............

ValiumQueen · 27/08/2012 21:54

Glamping then Grin hope you have a lovely time. Have you packed a sheewee and a Kampa Khazi? Essential items for a pg camper.

Elizadoesdolittle · 27/08/2012 21:57

Had a good bank holiday weekend doing a lot of house chores with a bit of socialising inbetween. We are going to look at a house on Thursday so if we like it we need to get our house in ship shape ready to go on the market. Not ideal timing really as will have enough on my plate without having to worry about keeping the house tidy and clean for viewings but there we go. I want to move so no point in delaying looking at places. Have been keeping my eye on houses coming on the market for a while and this one we are seeing is the only one which has interested DH enough to want to look at it.

Got my GT test tomorrow and I've not long eaten a big portion of apple crumble that I made with DD yesterday. Oops!

Re bump measurement, I've not even taken a photo of this bump let alone measured it! I feel bad as with DD I took regular bump pictures so I must start with this one. I'm feeling quite good though as went out with a friend on Saturday who I've not seen for a while and she said bump aside I was actually smaller elsewhere than I was when she saw me a month or so a go. Think it's running around after DD all day!

horseylady · 27/08/2012 22:01

Shelly I was camping last week and mountain walking (and sleeping in a dodgy bed!!) this week. I was ok was just worried I'd look like some sort of elephant!! Was fine!! Only two nights though :)

ShellyBobbs · 27/08/2012 22:05

I think it will give me a break from all the manic cleaning I've been doing anyway, I've bleached the kitchen again from top to bottom for the third time this week. It's got so bad that I actually got some extra strength 5 ltr bleach from a chemical shop near hubbies work Shock Did bring my carpets up nice when I shampoo'd them with it though :)

ShellyBobbs · 27/08/2012 22:05

Oh and I got all the decorating done in between shifts at work too, even got the kids scrubbing all the woodwork.

Horsey There is a pool there, think I'll be spending my time there floating about Grin

TheDetective · 27/08/2012 23:02

Evening!

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but today at work there was 4 women on the postnatal ward by the time I left. This is nothing short of a miracle, after months of endlessly manic shifts!

I was twiddling my thumbs, and even got to go home early! Woohoo! Happy bank holiday to me ;)

It's payday wednesday, so I'm online browsing for all the bits and bobs we still need! Not much is needed for the baby, mostly for me now! Gonna get me a breastfeeding pillow, new pjs, comfy joggers for afterwards to live in for 6 months , birthing ball, towels, shower curtain etc! Trying to decide what else I need... Got pads, stretchy knickers and breast pads already. Thinking about a TENS.

So much to think about now. Technically we could have a baby in 6 weeks 5 days. Shit. That is soon. It's kinda real now!!

Can anyone recommend their mattress to me? Still looking for a cot bed mattress. Want a pocket sprung one preferably. Saw this one, but it seems very cheap? www.tesco.com/direct/pocket-spring-interior-139x69cm-cot-bed-mattress/619-7975.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=619-7975

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 05:13

5am and I'm wide awake. Been dreaming about having a newborn but being on my own in my old bedroom at my parents so nowhere to put it and only half my baby things with me. Also, dreamt about fleas so I've woken up itching Confused most annoying as I'll have to get up in an hour and I bet I'll be fast asleep by then.

Detective We got ours from Kiddicare. It's spring with foam either side I think. I had wanted to spend a bit of time researching an shopping around like I have with everything else. However, as FIL is making our cot MIL wanted to order a matress to build it around so I was put on the spot a bit. Now wondering whether I would have chosen differently given more time. Wouldn't mind but I order the matress at 12 weeks and the cot wasn't started til 20odd weeks.
Ah well can't wait to see my cot Smile

Iheartpasties · 28/08/2012 06:01

I am getting an organic cot mattress, it's a cot bed really so hopefully it will last a while. We'll see. We already have one for dd so feel we should get the same for this new baby! It's coconut husk or something mad like that. I am itching to buy it - but DH is making me good with money a bit longer before we splurge!! I cannot wait!!

MissMummy1 · 28/08/2012 06:55

Another one researching cot mattresses and totally clueless! My dad wants to buy us one and keeps pressing me for a decision but I have no idea.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/08/2012 06:56

I need to get more nappies/ cotton wool. Few more sleepsuits and a coat/ snowsuit type thing.
Everything else is things for me: breast pads, maternity pads, big knickers, comfy pjs.
Oh and the biggy; a car seat!

28 weeks today :) literally can't believe only 12 weeks to go, potentially 9 or 10!
