Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Pleased for you both mummypud and mrsb. Great relief

DollFisher · 01/08/2012 13:27

Hello all!
I am new to mumsnet (newly migrated from netmums not realising they are two different sites!) and am 17 weeks and some days pregnant with mine and my husband's first child.

20 week scan is on 21 August and we are very excited!

Have skim read some of the other posts on here and I know that every case is different but I personally have had 3 bouts of bleeding in this pregnancy and each time scans showed baby live and kicking - literally, my husband thinks its because I've become addicted to rainbow skittles (incidentally does that mean we're having a girl?!) - and I want to encourage those who have had spotting or bleeding not to think the worst :)

MamaMary · 01/08/2012 13:54

Hello all - wow this thread is moving fast! First chance I've had to post on it!

Glad that all is well mummypud and happy your OH has returned Octane though I hope he doesn't put you through any mores stress in your pregnancy.

Not much to report - working hard and barely remember I'm pregnant at times. I'm only wearing elasticated waists nows (maternity clothes and leggings) and they are WONDERFUL.

15 weeks tomorrow. 20 week scan will be in no time and I can't wait to find out the gender then.

Pascha · 01/08/2012 14:03

Hello Dollfisher nice to see you. When are you due?

tinyeyes123 · 01/08/2012 16:29

Calling you second timers...I think I've been feeling the baby move! I'm 16+3 and the last couple of days I've felt a kind of strong fluttery pulse, does that sound about right? Still no bump though, boo!

Birdies · 01/08/2012 16:43

tinyeyes yes that'll be your baby! Am slightly jealous though!!

pasha thanks for posting that link, I feel much better about it now.

octane I'm glad you're happy now (am still a bit annoyed with him though even though i don't know you haha!). Also pleased you were told not to mountain bike - I was thinking that you might be best stopping when I read your post but I felt I'd seem interfering if I suggested it!

Might be TMI but I had to have my fanjo swabbed this morning. Wasn't as bad as a smear though. Have been getting, ahem, a different colour there IYKWIM. I think it's prob fine tho as no other symptoms.

And welcome to doll!

Birdies · 01/08/2012 16:45

Oh and bugsy great news!

newbie6 · 01/08/2012 16:46

Hi all,

Great news mummypud and mrsbugsy

Just back from hospital and I am now 15w plus 1 so back again in Sept for the anomoly scan, baby today was behaving very well - cannot believe how much the scan shows you :)

Hope everyone else is well!

x

Birdies · 01/08/2012 16:48

Oh PS newbie tell us tell us!! We haven't told anyone who knows us that we have even found out but I thought I'd announce it on here seeing as i'm anonymous. Up to you though of course Grin!!

newbie6 · 01/08/2012 17:15

Ha! Okay then and found out yesterday my DH had told his work colleagues so here you go...we are having a baby boy :) We are both delighted, I always thought baby was a boy after all the trouble he put me through at the start, ha ha!

xx

Birdies · 01/08/2012 17:16

Yay! Congrats, and the first person here in team blue I think!!

Tugstonia · 01/08/2012 17:31

Welcome doll!

Just back from hospital myself. Saw Obstetric doctor about my fluctuating thyroid levels and she did a quick scan because I've been quite anxious about things lately. She used a v grainy scanner but was so, so lovely to see JR on the screen wriggling and kicking around! She said my placenta was "low but not really low" and not near my cervix so I hope it's ok. It's also anterior. Said they'd be able to see more at the anomoly scan. She kept referring to the baby as "he" although she said she couldn't actually see its bits because it wasn't a very good scanner. Don't want to find out the sex so trying to forget she said "he"! DP and I have been getting boy vibes though...

Been feeling really breathless, huge and super tired, think the tiredness is thyroid-related though. Also have a v hairy tummy and am still spotty. V glam! But I don't care how shite I look or feel as long as JR is ok.

I sometimes think I can feel the baby move (I'm 15+5) but don't really know. Hopefully will feel it soon though with a low anterior placenta guess I might not til later?

Tugstonia · 01/08/2012 17:32

Yay newbie!

SquealyB · 01/08/2012 17:38

Hey doll - waves.....

Newbie.....that is really cool. Congrats on seeing your little baby boy!

Tugs glad your little one is doing well and everything is a-ok with you.

Tinyeyes I am very jealous Envy.

DH and I are having nursery decoration "discussions" about various themes etc. He wants to do a jungle theme....but I think way too much brown in that for my liking and I want to just keep it to white with bright colours and a bit of bunting (I LOVE bunting Grin). Has anyone else started thinking about this sort of stuff yet or am I being a planning nazi?

CreepyCrawly · 01/08/2012 17:43

Welcome to the new people Grin

How lovely newbie! Congratulations.

Also very jealous tinyeyes, especially as we share a due date. Although I am chilling on the sofa at the moment and had my hand on my tummy and felt a 'pop'. I can't wait until the movements are so obvious there's no denying that its the baby.

allchik · 01/08/2012 17:45

Oh yey!!!! Such good news on this thread at the mo! So happy for mummypud and bugs really glad that all is well with your precious cargo!!

Octane, very happy for you too....I hope that this was just a blip for you and your DP and that all will be good from this point on x

Newbie a boooooooooyyyy! Oh how ace!! Me and my hubby are going to have a surprise, but it is so bloody tempting to find out!!....must admit, I do find boy clothes waaaaay cuter than girl clothes :)

I think the fizzing feeling I felt was movement as felt it a few times again last night....like bubbles,flutters....sometimes I can feel it move a few inches across my belly.....I tear up every time (wuss!) Haven't felt anything today though....seems to just be at night (uh-oh a sign of things to come!!!!) Weird question but at this stage, when you feel movement is that just because the baby has got close to the placenta as its swimming around??? Surely it moves more that a couple of times a day???

On a Blush note, in terms of sex with the hubby....its only been a few times for us in the last 17 weeks too...more me as have just felt so tired/gassy at night time (sexy!) But starting to feel a bit more 'up for it now' (don't think hubby could believe it last night when I actually made the move on him lol!!!!)

CreepyCrawly · 01/08/2012 17:54

allchik totally agree about boys clothes. I'm not a massive fan of pink. And I saw this and this yesterday Grin

Brugmansia · 01/08/2012 18:14

I see both of those as gender natural though and would happily dress a girl or boy in either. I'd also avoid all the pink stuff anyway for a girl but equally the pale blue boy stuff. I have a feeling that my idea of gender neutral may be a bit broader than some peoples. Now I've started looking I'm having to stop myself buying loads of cute things I've seen, but the lack of nice gender neutral stuff seems to be a common complaint.

CreepyCrawly · 01/08/2012 18:18

I suppose they are Brugs, but I think with most gender 'neutral' stuff they tend to lean towards one or the other. I'm probably going to buy them whether I'm having a girl or a boy, they're way too cute!

knuckingfackered · 01/08/2012 18:30

Hi all newbies, thank god all the beeding and cramping is amounting to nothing for those suffering.
Is anyone else still zumbaring?

mrsbugsywugsy · 01/08/2012 18:44

thanks everyone

newbie congratulations on your boy!

octane that is great news about your DP. The chances are he just got scared, and has now seen the error of his ways. Has he ever done anything like it before?

In terms of sex, I completely went off it until a couple of weeks ago, when I had a sudden turnaround and now I can't get enough Blush

I went to my regular yoga class this afternoon for the first time since getting pregnant. The instructor wondered where I had been and was over the moon when I told her, she has recently had a baby and as we were a tiny class she made everyone do pregnancy yoga with me Smile.

I will definitely find out the gender if I can, just because I am curious and because I can stop referring to the baby as 'it'. I'd be tempted not to tell others though, as I'd prefer gender neutral things if people are buying presents. It would be hard not to let it slip though!

Hormonalhell · 01/08/2012 18:51

I've been horny as hell from the start and i'm single Confused maybe i'd be different if i had someone pawing me when i felt nauseous and then sulkily snoring 5 mins later at side of me though Grin

eleda · 01/08/2012 19:09

Fantastic news mummypud and mrsb and yay for team blue newbie!!!!
Welcome doll and what a relief octane.... And great advice from pmgkt!!! Wise woman!
Wow, this thread is moving at the rate of knots!
Very jealous of those feeling movement - too much flab in the way for me I reckon! Bump is coming on though although it is pushing my belly out more and just makes me look like I've eaten all the pies!

octanegirl · 01/08/2012 19:48

Thanks for the advice re DP ladies - I'm not bringing it up or throwing it back in his face and will talk to him about it soon - he finds it very difficult to talk about his feelings and clams up so I have to time it right. He's very caring and sweet so hopefully he just freaked himself out and it won't happen again. No certainties in life though....
Anyway, Gender scan on Friday!!!! My consultant from the hospital does some private work so he's doing it for me. Nice to have a friendly face there! DP is coming too.

PricklyPickle · 01/08/2012 20:42

What a lovely day on the thread for team January! Really chuffed for everyone.

I think I'll have a celebratory choc ice.
