Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Sorry mummyp for some reason I missed the last few post on the screen. Sorry to hear about the MW not finding the heartbeat but not conclusive at all, so good to hear you have a scan booked in (although I agree with birdies that I am surprised that they can't fit you in any earlier).

Will be thinking of you...

pmgkt · 31/07/2012 13:24

Mummy Pud, could you try and get a private one before that? I know it is bad that you have to, but could save you a few stressful days. w

BuntyCollocks · 31/07/2012 15:05

Oh, mummypud, I'm sure everything is fine. They do say it can be hard to find even at 16 weeks. I will keep everything crossed for you. :(

newbie, hope scan is ok today - are you keeping baby's flavour secret? :)

newbie6 · 31/07/2012 15:47

Hi

BuntyCollocks, we have decided to keep it a secret however I am rubbish at things like that so sure I will spill the beans eventually :)

mummypud - thinking lots of positive thoughts for you xx

DiscoDomina · 31/07/2012 15:53

Mummypud don't fear the worse - i was told by community midwives here ANY problems eg spotting, cramping etc before you are 24 weeks just turn up at A&E. Maybe you could try this?

Thanks for the advice Birdies no doubt i will be asking for more! As def starting to feel Overwhelmed.com especially with DH keep telling me time is marching on, and we need to get sorted an make lists and decide this and that - i'm only 14 weeks tomorrow Confused

CreepyCrawly · 31/07/2012 17:44

Fingers crossed for you mummypud. It took the midwife ages to find the heartbeat for me today so, as others have said, I don't think it means something is wrong.

Will be thinking of you x

Pascha · 31/07/2012 17:50

What time is your scan Newbie? Don't blame you for keeping it secret, thats what we're doing Smile. We did it last time but nearly gave the game away several times towards the end. Its really hard not to refer to the baby as him or her if you already know.

Mummypud my friend bled every day through her pregnancy from about week 14 onwards, no real reason was found for it and she had a healthy baby girl. I really hope you have good news at your scan. All fingers and toes crossed for you.

Hormonalhell · 31/07/2012 18:35

mummypud hope everything goes ok for you. Such a worrying thing from start to finish is pregnancy!

Complicated24 · 31/07/2012 19:02

I just wanted to say that all your advice is brilliant. You are all thinking of things that haven't even crossed my mind yet! I am not ready to buy any baby things yet as I am a bit superstitious, but hope you won't mind me asking lots of questions of those of you who already have children nearer the time. I plan to go to the Baby Show at Earls Court in October as my friend went before she had her baby and picked up some really good bargains. By then we should have a clearer idea of what we need and really don't need and try not succumb to too much advertising. My biggest dilemma at moment is what to wear. Not big enough for maternity clothing (though just bought a pair of maternity jeans and they are so comfy), but too big for my normal clothes. When I get home I am living in leggings and an old shirt of my husband's. Glamorous it is not!

mummypud · 31/07/2012 19:17

Thanks all , im trying to be optimistic but im sure its bad, no movement during 12 week us although heatbeat seen and now bleeding cramp and no heartbeat or movement heard .. Sounds bad right ? I do have anterior placenta and some large belly bits so maybe its that ? I managed to get a scan tomorow so wont have to wait so long . Am terrified , my kids know and i dont want to upset them , they have also seen me in tears a lot today which i hate :( xx

DiscoDomina · 31/07/2012 20:50

Glad you have a scan for tomorrow Mummypud - i have everthing crossed for you. At my 12 wk scan we didn't see any movement and the sonographer wasn't at all concerned, and a friend of mine who had hers the week before saw nothing either but had a rescan (for another medical reason) the week after and the baby was going wild! Hopefully everthing will be fine Smile

Complicated24 · 31/07/2012 21:56

Mummypud Loads of luck tomorrow and I too have everything crossed. Will be thinking of you.

Bunny222 · 31/07/2012 21:58

Will be thinking of you Mummypud tomorrow for your scan. Am sure all will go well for you.

eleda · 31/07/2012 22:41

Oh mummypud fingers and toes and everything crossed for you and your lo tomorrow xxxx

PricklyPickle · 31/07/2012 22:45

mummypud just to echo everyone else. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I'm so glad you managed to get an earlier scan. The odds are massively in your favour and it really is very very early to hear a heartbeat, especially if your placenta is in the way, just think how tiny the heart is now, It must be really hard to find.

theboutiquemummy · 31/07/2012 23:50

Heard the baby today it was lovely and we made him move it felt like bubbles in my tummy

According to my midwife NICE has recommended that midwives stop listening for heartbeats before 22 weeks due to the high number of false alarms n the distress it's causing as the pressure it's putting on scanners remember the wait some ppl had

She was a mine of useful information

theboutiquemummy · 31/07/2012 23:52

Kind thoughts mummypud x

Pascha · 01/08/2012 07:49

Good luck today Mummypud.

mrsbugsywugsy · 01/08/2012 08:09

Thinking of you today mummypud

mrsbugsywugsy · 01/08/2012 08:15

complicated could you buy some cheap tunic tops to wear with leggings for work? That is what I am mostly wearing.

Or maybe buy some cheap things in a size bigger than normal from Primark or similar?

My DP is skinny so I won't fit in his clothes anyway!

Yesterday I felt very sore and achey all day in my lower abdomen and back, does anyone else have this or should I be worried? It got slowly worse all day at work (sat at my desk) but then felt better on my walk home.

MrsMallard · 01/08/2012 08:49

I hope all goes well for you today mummypud - thinking of you.

happyhow · 01/08/2012 08:56

Good Luck Mummypud

Is anyone else having issues with their partners in the bedroom??!! Mine has refused sex ever since we got pregnant... I'm now 17 weeks and I think we've done it 3 times in all that time and only because he was drunk!! It's VERY frustrating. I fell out with him this morning. Apparently I'm not getting any til March when I've healed after giving birth. Aaarrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Birdies · 01/08/2012 09:02

That's about the same as us happyhow! Though it's me not him, I'm terrified of dislodging the baby or bleeding afterwards and then panicking. I know, it's daft and I'm planning on just getting on with it as I don't really want to be celibate for months :( Have you asked him what he's worried about? Has he got one of those books of expectant fathers as that'll have a chapter on it?

Is anyone else getting Braxton hicks contractions already? I'm sure that must be what they are. I'm 18.5 weeks and last night my bump was fairly squishy. Woke in the night and it was absolutely rock hard and sticking right out. Hope it's not a bad thing to have?

Pascha · 01/08/2012 09:18

Mine is the other way round. So am I actually Blush

I'm getting BHs I think, where it goes all hard and tight. Last time I didn't get any til at least 36 weeks. Wiki says second or third trimester so its normal I think.

Birdies · 01/08/2012 09:30

Phew thanks Pascha. Do you reckon it's a good thing then? If baby wasnt ok I wouldn't have thought we'd still get them? (my paranoia goes up the longer it's been since I had a scan!)
