Hi everyone!

I think I did this correctly! Eeeek! Probably not Blush I think we still have a few messages to go on the old one, so it's here for when we're ready :)

Yay to cute scans!

seymore that's it! Cute picture!

Can't wait for my scan next fri, this has come around so quick :)

itsMYNutella · 17/07/2012 09:18

Great picture Seymore! And good news on the midwife being nice :)

Awww Stacey I know your pain... I find it (thrush/other itchiness) comes and goes... sorry tmi :)

Spotty my baby bump is very low but the baby is pushing my flab up - I reckon... it probably all wobbles in the car too, but I haven't looked :o

itsMYNutella · 17/07/2012 09:25

Congrats on the little boy littlemiss!
Yes, I had to go back for an extra scan at 12 weeks after the blood test revealed a high risk for Edwards/Patau and we also have to have a more thorough 20 week scan to check the heart as a kind of double protection. But I'm pretty sure that everything is fine and honestly try not to think about it. I know that might not help the worry but honestly if I do sit and think about it, it doesn't do me any good.

Honestly -and I'm sure DP will fight me on this- next time (we both want at least two kids... I want three... but lets start with 1 :o) I'd be happy to have less tests and less worry.

ISpyPlumPie · 17/07/2012 09:26

Littlemiss - congrats on your little boy. I've got to go back for a rescan too as they couldn't check part of the spine due to position of the baby. My initial response was panic too, but they said they'd had a quitwe a few 'awkward' babies that day and in fact the lady before me was actually there for a rescan so a think it's fairly common. The sonographer said if they in anyway suspected a problem they would say so, it is just a case of not being able to check that bit off yet.

It is a bit a annoying though not having the complete reassurance in one go, but I'm focusing on having an extra chance to see the baby.

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 09:27

I saw it now, super cute seymore :)

FriendofDorothy · 17/07/2012 09:28

Nutella - less stress and less worry is exactly why I have had no ante-natal screening. I am worried already about stuff I can't control so why make it worse?

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 09:32

Ispy that is a great way to see it, another chance to say hi to bubba! we also asked for a dvd and they said they will do that next time as there will be more time, my oh wont be with me but he can see on the dvd.

goodness our babies cause so much worry even before they arrive dont they!

nutella i think your right there are so so many tests! I hope after the scan comes around fast and shows no problems.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/07/2012 09:36

Congrats on all the scan news Smile

stacey I used to get thrush all the time when I was on the pill and I found pessaries to work much better than anything else, not sure you can use them in pregnancy or not? You have my sympathies though

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 09:45

I just saw an advert on tv that said you can use canistan in pregnancy.. thats in sweden tho it might be different in the uk..

itsMYNutella · 17/07/2012 09:50

Friendof is this your first? My problem has mainly been DP (occasionally he is very German and totally full of Angst :o ) when I don't understand what the test is for (a few translation problems still) he tends to just say yes we'll do it. Whereas I'd rather check out what it is, discuss it and since the insurance company don't think it's necessary then take their lead!

FriendofDorothy · 17/07/2012 09:57

Yes this is my first. We just decided that we didn't need additional stress. For example, we didnt have nuchal fold screening or blood test for Downs. I knew that even if my risks were higher I wouldn't go ahead and have an amnio because of the risks. So, what would be the point of increasing my stress levels further by lots of 'what ifs'?

itsMYNutella · 17/07/2012 10:06

Friendof I think you're right and I'd definitely go that way next time. But will have to discuss it with DP once this one is safely with us. I also would have strongly resisted an amnio whatever the result of the last scan tests.

PurplePidjin · 17/07/2012 10:06

I'm being re-scanned on Friday so they can check his brain - even a cup of tea and some Tigger bouncing wouldn't get this stubborn one to shift!

At least my mum gets to see her first grand child, and we'll go out for lunch and shopping first :o

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 10:08

My oh is the opposite of yours nutella, he would happily go the entire pregnancy with no tests or scans.. sweden is very hands off.. they still have not measured the baby's heart beat!

we had the nuchal scan because otherwise the 1st scan is the 20 week scan!! we wouldn't have done a amnio but i wanted to see the baby (we had a 7 week scan where bubba was a blob)

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 10:09

how lovely that your mum gets to see the baby pidjin! it sounds like its very common to have a rescan.

MyDaydream · 17/07/2012 10:17

Congratulations on your boy littlemiss. I'm feeling very jealous of all these scans since I've still got 3 weeks to mine. Had my midwife appointment just now though so I got to hear babies heartbeat. Hopefully the next 3 weeks will fly by.

PrunellaDeVille · 17/07/2012 10:24

scan all done, flavour remains a surprise - i resisted the urge to look when she told us to look away if we wanted to keep it a secret. All's well Grin, photo of it seemingly blowing bubbles (but probably isn't) uploaded to profile. I've put my first scan pics up too in case there are any telltale signs that other people can pick up on - i long to know if it's pink or blue but DH is happier in ignorance.

Glad other scans went well, littlemiss the scan technician said she'd had a string of women already this week having to go back for rescans because baby wasn't playing ball and various things weren't visible - really doesn't seem unusual, don't fret.

PurplePidjin · 17/07/2012 10:38

Littlemiss, dp has just started a new job so, while it was easy to get a day for the scan we'd known the date of for 2 months, another afternoon off with only a week's notice was more than he wanted to ask for. Hence inviting my mum to have a peek :o

The sonographers at my hospital are really chatty - they talk you through the whole scan pointing out anatomy and making sure you both see what's there - and from her (and the receptionists') manner it seemed pretty normal to just pop in another day if baby's in the wrong place.

minipie · 17/07/2012 10:43

Gosh 5 pages already! Just marking my place.

Congratulations on the engagements! And Envy at the scans - mine's not for another 2 weeks, gah. Beginning to get a bit nervous.

I am still making do without maternity clothes but it's getting a bit tricky... might have to do a little online browsing today Smile

Stacks · 17/07/2012 10:53

I bought a couple of things from Gap in the sale, they're mostly all for when I get bigger though. I did get a couple of trousers from an online order, but they're way too long for me. Not sure if it's worth turning them up, or looking for something else. They were only £12 each..
I'm showing more now, but my bump seems quite high and rounded, so am still making do it just my normal t-shirts and jumpers, though will need something if it gets much bigger. I've been wearing under-bump jeans for ages as they're much more comfortable when sitting at my desk all day than a hairband in my normal trousers.
Had a bad night of sleep last night for no discernible reason. Woke up every hour from 3:30am through to getting up at 7:30 for work. Luckily I got back to sleep quickly each time, but a very disturbed night still.

WeeJo08 · 17/07/2012 11:06

Another headache-free morning - woop! I could get used to this! Congratulations on the successful scans! Because I am an utter geek I wanted to see how Team Blue and Pink were doing, but I couldn't remember lots of them. I am sure there are more girls than this!

LittleMiss Baby boy :)
Clarella Baby boy :)
Bellaboo Baby girl :)
HoneyMum Baby boy :)
Pidj Baby boy :)

Are these right? Who else is having girls? I tried to search on the old thread but I got distracted by Monster Munch had a very serious computer issue. Confused I thought we could put this on our Stats thread Grin

SeymoreInOz · 17/07/2012 11:13

Prunella I'm going to say boy, just because girl parts are a bit harder to spot... and she told you to look away! I could be wrong though!

WeeJo08 · 17/07/2012 11:21

Prunella I agree with Seymore I don't think you would have had to look away if it was a little girl as their bits aren't so...obvious! So I'm going with a baby girl for you :)

minipie · 17/07/2012 12:37

Ha - people keep giving me their guesses as to what sex I am having... the thing is I already know it's a girl (due to the CVS) but we aren't telling anyone till the 20 week scan (don't want to have to explain about the CVS).

About 50% of guesses have been right so far Grin

knottyhair · 17/07/2012 12:40

Lots of lovely scan news & pictures! Sorry for those of you with thrush/headaches/sleeping problems. I keep waking up between 4 & 5am and struggle to get back to sleep before 6 when I have to get up anyway. Never mind, could be a lot worse. Have my 16 wk appt this afternoon (a week late) so I'm keeping fingers crossed that she can find the heartbeat OK.
