Morning!!!

Thought I'd start the new thread with Gwen's title now in case I fill the other one with my moaning.

I'll do the stats at a more normal time of day unless anyone else does it first.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DairyNips · 16/06/2012 04:22

Hey Mckayz Thanks for starting the new thread.

I think the toilet trips must have something to do with baby moving down.. I can go to the loo then a minute later need it again Hmm very irritating!

McKayz · 16/06/2012 04:34

I hope so. I can't remember ever needing to go this many times in 1 night before.

OP posts:
DairyNips · 16/06/2012 04:37

Fingers crossed then McKayz Maybe your doing nothing plan might just work for usSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 16/06/2012 04:54

Ooo I'll mark my place as I'm up too Smile

Congratulations Star - brilliant birth story Grin

Hope things are really kicking off for Dairy and McKayz, with surf, mini and pink not far behind

Surf, I would like to box your OH round the ear Angry

Pink I agree with the others, why don't you start out with the pool, and see how it goes?

Re the hypnobirthing, I thought the idea was to shut your conscious mind up to let your unconscious mind take control and just let your body do its thing? (which is hard when the woman's voice is pissing you off!) I didn't manage to master the hypnosis element, but the breathing exercises alone were a massive help.

Right, DS has stopped complaining about wind now, so let's see if I can get him back to sleep Hmm

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 04:59

Tea lol yes that is the idea of the hypnosisGrin Unfortunately my conscious mind seems to have a problem shutting up and not getting irritated! Still, the breathing exercises really help meSmile

surfmama · 16/06/2012 05:01

morning you two and everyone else. well dairy i hope that is promising...and that baby dairy is ready to appear soon.
I have bad periody pain this am. mck i also could go, get back into bed, and need to go again. lovely new thread, who'd have thought we could gas so much. my eyes are a puffy war wound this morning but when i eventually was able to stop crying telling oh to fuck off and that i dont want you at the birth i did tell him i was scared and vulnerable and he said he had no idea... Honest, but your just pregnant, shit you not! anyway friends again even if he is a dick so thanks everyone.

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 05:05

Glad you managed to sort things in the end surfSmile Sometimes they just need it spelling out I guess.

I am off in search of frosties soon...

surfmama · 16/06/2012 05:06

ha thanks tea.. Yes, there is a hilarious rohl dahl story where the lady hits DH with frozen leg of lamb, wipes him out, so then she cooks it and when police come to investigate she feeds it to them. has me in stitches ....oops wrong use of words trying to not think about having those! bless your ds what a little star he is

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 05:21

Went to the loo then sat up in bed as I've given up on sleep and guess what? No contraction for 23minsSad I am so frustrated now I could cry. I have been awake since 2am and thought something was happening but all that has happened is I am tired and they have stopped again.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 16/06/2012 06:20

Hi all,

Thought the stragglers might have wanted to know this.

7:30 - cervix too posterior to reach.
8:14 - baby born, no tears.

CathFin · 16/06/2012 07:41

Morning! Nothing happening here, 39+3 so chances of being early slowly slipping away before I'm joining the 'overdue' queue! Also think any twinges are actually just my poor compromised digestive system - so dull!

PinkPanther27 · 16/06/2012 08:02

Morning all, was really hoping we wouldnt have another pre-baby thread but oh well. Dairy I had v bad back pain most of last night which stopped suddenly during the early hours so I feel your pain.
McKayz I really hope u manage to get some rest this weekend and Dairy
Im trying to decide whether to drive into the city to get my hair done (30 mins away but also where the hospital is) as its a complete mess or stay in bed.
On the plus side I have updated my birth plan for the induction, just need to print it out- thanks for your advice
:)

SpecialJK · 16/06/2012 08:39

cathfin sorry to smile, but I had that yesterday. Lung in bed with what I thought were some cramps contractions starting, but TMI, turns out I just had to go to the loo! Hmm

*dairynips] sorry contractions seemed to have stopped, but that maybe doesn't mean nothing has happened? Some of the others who've had that have ended up really quick when they eventually went to hospital, like Blondie! When you next seeing MW. I bet you're more dilated

justwantcheese · 16/06/2012 08:41

Morning all, thanks mckayz for starting the new thread.
dairy really feel for you if sounded so promising. Hope rhetmy start again. I keep telling myself weds max as nothing at all happening here.
mckayz hope baby is on their way too .
surf glad you're sorted things with your other half you need the less stress the better right now.
Hi pink how's it going? I was, wondering where you were. Are you booked in weds too?
Have a nice day all, have really good feeling that today is the day for at least one of us.Grin

Morning all - just marking my place!!

Coops79 · 16/06/2012 09:52

Morning All -

mckayz thanks for starting new thread. Would you add me onto the due date list please? I'm 20th June (and it's a boy).

Despite having had a pretty easy pregnancy thus far, I'm now starting to struggle a bit. Anyone else had the trapped nerve down your outer thigh? That combined with a child who clearly doesn't understand that being foetal means curling up (get your foot OUT of my ribcage please) is not making for good sleep. Any tips for either of these gratefully received.

Have had duty visits from both Mum and MIL in the last couple of days; that was enough to completely exhaust me. Now I'm mainly laying around, doing the odd bit of cleaning but essentially just drumming my fingers.

I'm off to catch up with yesterday's news. Hope everyone has a lovely day. x

Morning all, just marking my place too I was up loads in the night with toilet breaks, feet in ribs (I feel your pain coops) and the worst hearburn ever. I can't imagine actually being comfy in bed any more!

Thanks for starting the new thread mckayz & dairy I hope contractions come back!

surf glad you are ok, men can just be clueless and thoughtless about it all. Do lots of nice relaxing stuff today I reckon.

pink & cath I've had the, er, digestion related cramps too, I even thought 'ooo is something happening?' Well, yes, but not what I thought, ha ha!

Am off for first breakfast now. Have a good day everyone :)

McK

Denial was how I started....... Grin

Let me get my birth story. Just a sec.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 16/06/2012 11:58

Birth story:

Thurs - MW appointment showing head free. DIY internal couldn't reach cervix. Had had however quite detailed discussions with senior mw about birth plan and interventions etc.

Woke at 2:30am Fri morning with 'wind' and uncomfortable bowels having had a curry the previous evening.

Woke again at 2:45, then 3:00am. Considered the start of labour but after 30 mins on the loo trying to poo nothing decided to run a bath to ease stomach cramps and, given bottom pressure, to float in on my front (is quite a big bath) just 'in case' it was labour and bottom pressure signifying back to back.

I played with the cx timer on iPad whilst in bath from 3:30am and got minute long cramps between 2.5 and 4 mins appart. Concentrated on breathing during and in between and even managed to doze a bit with head on towel in between them.

At 5:30am I called DH as desperate for change and no longer comfortable. Wanted to try TENS but he needed to sort it. Lay back in bed with TENS but quickly had to get into kneeling position on floor. TENS was wierd. The booster button did massage in a comforting way but also seemed to 'massage up' the contractions into more powerful and intense ones.

At 5:45am, DH called doula, who I asked to come when she was ready but didn't need to run. She came at 6:30 and helped me with some breathing. I was feeling an urge to push but it really didn't feel like any baby was going to come out. It was just after the peak of a contraction for a few seconds. It was strange. I was recommended to walk up and down the stairs but I refused to walk anywhere.

The doula suggested I should make contact with the Mws so DH left a message on a series of answer machines. At 7:00am they called back and asked me when I wanted them. I said in an hour which they replied was good because I would get a new mw from next shift who could then stay with me. 7:15am My mum took the kids out for breakfast and then did the school run.

So, DH started to fill the pool and I felt even stronger pressure in my bottom but never for whole contractions. Sometimes I had to shout at that point and a bit of water came out each time. I did a DIY internal again because I was confused and it felt very strange. I became very coz cervix seemed HUGE and bouncy and touching it brought on urge to wee. So I sat on the loo and instantly my waters 'popped', and when I wiped there was blood. I assume now it was bulging waters I felt. The waters were clear. It was 7:30am

Doula got DH to call mws again to update and request attendance and I went downstairs to wait for pool filling whilst kneeling over the sofa. Meanwhile the pushing and shouting parts of each contraction increased from about a quarter of it to about half of it. I had to breath carefully in between each contraction to stop me being afraid of the next one which the doula helped me with but I was able to kind of doze in between too. I remember thinking that I was pretty fed up now and really can't be bothered with this any more and then wondering if that meant transition.

At 7:55 I knelt in the pool and instantly as the warm water hit me had a massive intense pushing contraction that I had to shout and tense all the way through. DH called mw again and they said they were 5 mins away.

8:00 mw arrived, said hi, I begged her for some gas and air so she went to her car and I never saw her again. 2-3 more contractions.

I wanted to feel what was going on so had a rummage down below but couldn't feel a thing. But the next cx, I knew the head was coming out and instinctively panted. 8:10am the senior mw that I had met the day before and a jnr mw turned up to a pair of eyebrows sticking out of me. As had no gas and air or any drugs I seemed to just breath as I had to which mean a little grunting and a lot of panting. The head came out REALLY slowly and carried on sliding in between contractions.

The mw finally handed me some gas, but I waited until the head was out and had a celebratory suck instead. I sat back for two more quick contractions where the body came out, and then the legs, in front of me. I then picked up the baby and brought him to the surface.

The placenta was delivered within minutes but membranes got a bit tangled so I had to hand baby over to DH whilst I wiggled them a bit. Then DH cut the cord whilst I got out, was made comfortable, given back the gas and air for after pains and then fed the baby for 45 minutes and drank tea whilst Mws and doula wrote notes, tidied up and had a chat.

Had a very small tear that didn't need any stitching.

But.......I'm really glad it's over!
