Hiya,
Thought I would start a thread as I couldn't seem to find one
I had a BFP yesterday - which by my estimations makes lo#2 due early November! I already have a ds who is 15 months (14/11/04) and my BFP with him was 2 days earlier than this one, how strange is that?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know anyone that joins this thread and wishing everybody a happy healthy pg

Is it just me? My jeans are so tight that I am going to chnage into some trackie bottoms in a minute.

rarrie · 07/03/2006 16:50

Can I join in and say hello? It seems I'm due on the 7th of Nov. The birthday of DD1 (who will be 3). Looking forward to chatting / swapping notes!

twocatsonthebed · 07/03/2006 17:07

cece - no it's me too! Although I read someone on another thread saying that it seemed to be worse for them in the evening, and I think that's true for me as well.

cece · 07/03/2006 17:09

yeah not too bad but once back from the school run my jeans were hurting so am now sitting in fleecy tracksuit bottoms (from Primark). Looking very stylish I must say! But too embarassed to wear them out. Will have to buy some trousers with elasticated waists!!! Any recommendations?

Mummy2Toby · 07/03/2006 18:39

Just popped on quickly before doing dinner - if I can face it.
cece - have you tried a belly belt? they can be used with your normal jeans atc and are really good for this early stage of pg - and at least you get to look "normal" for a while longer. Grin
Will be back later - take care

Hi all, just thought i'd pop in. I'm spod btw, had to change name etc. Have been in hospital since sat. horrid time, treated for an ectopic tubal abortion to begin with, but today told I am still preg and that it was a massive ovarian cyst leaked a litre of blood. Going back friday to measure hcg agaain and do internal scan. Hope all is well with you guys. Mower, howw was yr scan?

cece · 07/03/2006 19:24

Oh spinach how awful. Hope you have good news soon.

spinach · 07/03/2006 19:28

well, for the moment, i am still pregnant and my hcg is 900+ which is very normal... so fingers crossed it rises again by friday.

CattyB · 07/03/2006 20:46

Spinach Fingers and toes crossed here too - hope things go ok x

MeAndMyBoy · 07/03/2006 21:51

oh spinach, just wanted to add my fingers crossed from friday, what a rough time you're having.

Welcome Rarrie and congratulations, looking forward to getting to know you too.

Yep think there is a definate tightening of trousers here too, especially my work trousers, but that's not a bad thing as they needed adjusting anyway and now I don't have to lol. Can't remember who it was who isn't looking forward to the larger chest - but I have to admit I am - after BF DS for 6 mths I am sadly lacking in that department - but today very nearly went into work without my bra on, cause everything was staying upright for once!! and i hadn't realised I'd not put it on, I'd also left my jama top on so would have gone in in that as well - oh goodness pregnacy brain strikes already (gulp there is no hope for me).

Belly belts are great, I love H&M for maternity trousers, but I am looking to splash out for some nice tops as we're off on a big holiday this year and want to look at little bit nice.

Right off to start writing up the stats :)

Talk tomorrow

H x

Mower - you said on the one of these threads that you have a low hcg level. How do you know your hcg levels? Is this something that a doctor measures by blood test? Most people don't seem to have had blood tests, in fact most GPs don't seem to want to see pg women early in pregnancy, so is this only something that is done if you or GP is worried about something? Sorry to ask so many questions. I was just wondering coz of my experiences with very faint lines on the tests, and I wondered if it's worth testing again to see if line is darker this week before I see GP on Friday (yes I know, I am a worrier and all I seem to do on this thread is worry about something being wrong! Sorry. I'm new to this pregnancy thing!)

Hope all goes well for you this morning with your blood tests

HopingCat · 08/03/2006 09:05

Message for everyone

What exactly is a baby belt and where do I get one!? It was mentioned earlier and I've never heard of it but the idea seems a really good one for those of us who don't want to spend a fortune on new clothes for a few months.

Mummy2Toby · 08/03/2006 09:41

HopingCat,
A belly belt is an elastic strip which can be fitted onto your normal trousers, and it comes with panels on fabric aswell so it blends in with whatever you are wearing - they are really good for the early stages - I will CAT you know Smile

Spinach - what an awful time you've been having. I hope everything is going well for you.

I was thinking about investing in a belly belt thingy, also one of those support belly band's too.

Even though I am propably the least further on on this thread I'm sure I'm experiencing the tighening of jeans too. That said I was showing at 10wks with DD3 so no real surprise there. What I am surprised about is how hungry I am. I'm normally off food at the beginning of pg so this is new. Yet I am also feeling nauseous too! Can't win!.
Hope everyone is OK this morning, x

Mummy2Toby · 08/03/2006 10:45

mygirllollipop,
If you want you can email me about the belly belt Grin

Can't stop eating, but really don't want to put on as much weight as I did with DS!
Hope you have good news soon, Spinach, I am thinking of you. xxx

spinach · 08/03/2006 13:19

hoping cat, the hcg is the pregnancy hormone, and its not usual to have it monitored unless something is suspected of being wrong. Basically, because in early preg it is difficult to confirm a pregnancy with a scan, the hcg is an accurate was of determining whether still preg cos the hcg levels double every 48 hours in a healthy preg. Its not something you're likely to be offered because of a feint line, although that would be jolly helpful!

cece · 08/03/2006 13:22

Hi there,

Had my stuff through from the hospital today confirming dates for scans and booking appointments.

The ante natal testing leaflet says I can have just a Nuchal scan or a combination of nuchal and blood tests! Last time I was told to have one or the other as the results can contradict each other. Anyone have both? Is it more accurate to have both or just either the blood/nuchal on its own?

Have tried to phoent he ante natal department of hospital and they are not answering!

HopingCat · 08/03/2006 13:35

How many weeks pg are you cece? You seem to be getting a lot through like scan dates etc. Is that coz your GP is very good or because you are further on than most of us. Did you say you are due right at beginning of Nov?

Sorry I can't help you with your question. I've got a mate having her 12 wk scan today so I might be able to ask her when I see her later. Will get back to you tomorrow if I can, and if nobody else has answered your question by then.

cece · 08/03/2006 13:38

I am 7 weeks i think. GP said I was due 27th Oct but my other two were 2 weeks late hence the Nov thread!

awayfromhome · 08/03/2006 14:12

Congratulations on the BFP Hopingcat and also to everyone else!!

I have just got back from a short holiday, and travelling with a 2 year old - now need another one!!

I am due to see my doctor on friday and will have my first scan etc - so looking forward to making sure all is okay.

Cece- they do both the scan and the bloods as standard where I live (Hong Kong), but the first time around in the UK I only had the scan, really not sure which is more accurate? - would be good to know if you get an answer.

spinach · 08/03/2006 14:53

i think you can have the nuch fold scan and the normal triple tests blood results... think the nf is considered more accurate but cant see why the tests would contradict each other.

Hopingcat... don't worry, you'll get your appointments through, in my area we see midwife at 11-12 weeks then she refers for a scan, which looks like 13 weeks! each area is different, and nothing you can do will speed them up, they have their annoying systems!

Kif · 08/03/2006 15:26

I got a +ve test today...

Can't really believe it - haven't thrown the stick away so that i can keep checking it.

It's a pale line - but definitely two lines.

If true - due 15 Nov.

Don't want to get too excited...it's so early yet.

mygirllolipop · 08/03/2006 16:14

Congrats Kif, I keeping looking at my stick too, as if staring at it long even will make me believe it!
M2T will email you.
Cece sorry no experience of any diagnostic tests.
