Hiya,
Thought I would start a thread as I couldn't seem to find one
I had a BFP yesterday - which by my estimations makes lo#2 due early November! I already have a ds who is 15 months (14/11/04) and my BFP with him was 2 days earlier than this one, how strange is that?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know anyone that joins this thread and wishing everybody a happy healthy pg

Welcome Kif and congratulations.
I think you should get excited!!! Grin
I think we have all had to look at our test sticks for ages and test a few times to believe our positive result. It's not something that feels real until you can see or feel some change. I can't wait to feel different and eventually see a bump.

Kif · 08/03/2006 16:44

second baby.Last time i found out i was preggers by going out drinking to celebrate my friends birthday... then basically throwing up for the next 5 months.

When the sickness starts - then I'll believe it... a bit supersticious still... the line was faint... and I'm only 'due' today.

Kif · 08/03/2006 16:47

What have you ladies done about breaking news.

Last week I was 'on medication' for work dinner.

This week I’m changing jobs – so intend to have an ‘ear infection’ at my leaving drinks…

I think it is sounding hollow!

CattyB · 08/03/2006 17:38

Hey cece, I'm due on the 27th Oct too, but 1st one was 11 days over, 2nd one just 1 day but 3rd 16 days - hence this thread. Maybe by being here we'll tempt fate and be not too late Smile

On the line of scans and tests etc what in my experience is never explained is the what if senario? Which is why I never bother - it saves any worry. Maybe a bit naive but at the end of the day I would love my baby regardless. I esp think that following a scan and actually seeing the wee life growing inside you it must be a nightmare to be in the situation where you are faced with the decision to abort. Not a nice thought at this happy time but maybe something to consider. Scans and tests are all optional despite the fact that they are routinely done to almost everyone.

Aussieinlondon I meant to ask what potency of sepia you take? is it still working for you? I'm not too sicky at the moment but it has its moments.

Another recommendation of the natural remedys line is Spatone - a Welsh water rich in iron. You get in in a box of 28 sachets from Boots. Its about £6.50 a box but is fantastic - started taking it on Friday and already feeling less tired.

cece · 08/03/2006 17:47

spinach I was told about the contradiction on test results by a hospital that didn't do a Nuchal Test so maybe that is why they were dischouraging me from doing both!

Kif - congrats

CattyB - dh is quite keen on me having tests this time as I am 39. I had them last time and had reassuring results so guess I am hoping for the same this time! Ds birthday is 30th Oct so hoping it is not then (or Halloween)

spinach · 08/03/2006 17:51

my mate had the nf and said that it gave more accurate reults. her triple test came back as risk of 1:700 and the nuchal fold which was done 4 weeks earlier came back something like 1:5000, so for her it offered more reasureance earlier on. I guess if you have reason to seek the nf ie hgh risk factors, the nf gives you earlier results. if you rely on triple test, which is done at 16 weeks, wait for results, then decide if amnio needed, it could be 20+ weeks before you're ina position to make a dcision. I guess a nf scan reult would allow you to make a much earlier decision. hth,

cece · 08/03/2006 17:53

thew leaflet i got today said the blood test was done at 10 weeks and then another at 14 weeks. Then they would give you an amalgamated score including NF test too...

spinach · 08/03/2006 18:01

i think thats a est you have with the nf see here \link{http://www.mums.me.uk/nuchal.htm\here} rather than the triple test that everyone gets, which I'm sure is at 16 weeks

cece · 08/03/2006 18:24

Thanks.

I have moved since my last pg so this area/hospital seems to be a bit different. They offer aNF test for free for instance. Last time I had to go to another hospital and pay!

mygirllolipop · 08/03/2006 18:32

Cece - I too have moved since my last pg (well I was 34wks when we moved) so am unsure of what things will be like in a different area.

spinach · 08/03/2006 19:21

thats great if you get the test for free, we dont here!

velcrobott · 08/03/2006 20:42

Right can I join you too?
Did BD on 16/2 but as I had my last period on 9/2 not sure when I am due....
For me it would be baby number 3 Smile

spinach · 08/03/2006 20:45

hi velcobott, congrats... when was the first day of your last period?

spinach · 08/03/2006 20:47

if it was 9th feb, you're due Nov 16th

spinach · 08/03/2006 20:48

here's a site to work it out \link{http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/pregcalc.html\here}

spinach · 08/03/2006 20:50

sorry, I missed your bfp on the other thread... wonderful news!

velcrobott · 08/03/2006 20:58

I saw that website before and it said 9 Nov. Equally somewhere else I read 16 Nov. Basically November Grin

spinach · 08/03/2006 21:00

well, its your third, you know what you're doing! huge congrats!

velcrobott · 08/03/2006 21:01

How many kids have you got spinach?

spinach · 08/03/2006 21:02

just one

CattyB · 08/03/2006 22:18

Working out edd is dead easy just add 9 months and 7 days to the date of the 1st day of your last period or sit with the calendar and count out 40 weeks - this only gives a guide as human gestation is between 36 and 44 weeks and only 4% of babes are actually born on their edd.
It also depends on the length of your cycle - if you usually only bleed every 35 days then your babys going to take longer and ifs its only 25 days between its going to happen quicker - generally - nothing is very exact hence the 4% Grin!!

velcrobott · 08/03/2006 22:48

I have a DS and DD.

As for the info from CattyB, thanks Smile
I was just looking on the internet because I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian failure (POF) at 36 and read that I only had a chance in 8% to concieve and usually only those with POF who take HRT do concieve (though data on this is shaky)... I am not on HRT (refused it) so am really pleased to be pregnant... though I will only be telling real life friends at 12 weeks as I am worried that I may be at a higher risk of miscarriage. Hope that makes sense.

awayfromhome · 09/03/2006 05:24

I have a DD who will be 2 in April.
