Hiya,
Thought I would start a thread as I couldn't seem to find one
I had a BFP yesterday - which by my estimations makes lo#2 due early November! I already have a ds who is 15 months (14/11/04) and my BFP with him was 2 days earlier than this one, how strange is that?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know anyone that joins this thread and wishing everybody a happy healthy pg

I know I'm a wimp and I should have talked to her today. A friend we have in common talked to her after I told her the situation and she said that she is fine and will be fine. I know she is busy the next few days so will try and talk to her next week. I know she'll try again for a baby.

I think I bf ds1 til he was 9 months but by then he was only bf once in the morning and at night. I was producing much by then and he was getting so big to hold. I think I only bf ds2 til 6 months. He was too busy trying to see what ds1 was doing rather than bf.

Hattie05 · 22/03/2006 20:26

mygirllollipop - i didn't expect my Gp to favour home births, i just wanted to sure that he was putting me in touch with the right midwives as i had my dd in a different borough and wasn't sure how things worked here.

Folic acid is only 'inexpensive' if you have plenty of cash Wink.

fatbetty · 22/03/2006 20:30

Hattie05, my GP gave me a perscription once for folic acid. My GP was a woman who just had a baby and basically said you might as well get while you have a materntiy exempt. I think I also told her that I found that I couldn't swallow large pills - which was true. Just make sure you push for it. A male GP might tell you to go to a pharmacies.

Hattie05 · 22/03/2006 20:34

Thanks fatbetty, i will do.

Btw, just reading your thread lower down - you'll will feel huge relief if you just get on and tell your friend, she's hardly going to blame you is she Smile. Just like i usually do in such situations - i think you're getting your knickers in an unnecessary twist Grin but as i'm an outsider i can see the sense and tell you just to tell her.

Good luck x

Hattie05 · 22/03/2006 20:36

Oh btw, my doc wasn't particularly interested in hearing about my pains, stretching etc that i've been feeling and mutter the word "hormones" which was my que to shut up! Grin

fatbetty · 22/03/2006 20:40

I know, I know....I'm definately making a mountain out of a molehill. I know once I talk to her it will be like nothing ever happened. Blame it on my hormones!!! I think once I know that things are okay with this baby (had the first scan) and start telling people things will get better. Right now, though, my clothes are getting tighter and feeling just fat and moody. For some reason, when I find out I'm pg I just want to look like I'm 6 months pg!!

fatbetty · 22/03/2006 20:40

Let me guess, was your GP a man?

Hattie05 · 22/03/2006 20:54

lol yes my gp was a man.

And i am a little gutted that i didn't get in better shape before this pg as i now feel the weight i put on after dd1 is going to double in size Blush.

I have a secret - pretend to strangers that i am 6mths pregnant so it matches my bump Wink

fatbetty · 22/03/2006 21:01

Ha ha....

When I was pg with DS1 and DS2 I had terrible morning sickness and lost a stone + some during the first trimester. I hated the morning sicknesses but at least I lost a bit of extra pounds that I needed to shed and think that helped losing some of my after-pg weight. This time around I'm not having ms (knock on wood!!) but I do feel for you who are feeling wiped out with ms. I do hope I don't get ms as I'm flying to the States over Easter by myself with DS1 and DS2.

staceym11 · 23/03/2006 09:18

morning, well i am now well and truely in maternity clothes at only 6 weeks!!!! cant get my trousers on without feeling ill. i cant believe its happened so early. have only got one maternity skirt, really need my delivery from ebay to arrive!!!

sickness bands still working which is good, havnt acctually been sick again!

welcome 2boys2cats, and congratulations!!!

hope everyone is feeling ok today.

fatbetty, is this your first?? i know i didnt go anywhere or do anything when pg with dd, but now i have to get up with her i have no time to laze in bed like i want to, i need to be energised or she drives me up the wall!!!

staceym11 · 23/03/2006 09:18

nope not your first, cant read! lol, hopefully having the two boys will help get you motivated!!!

mygirllolipop · 23/03/2006 09:19

Meant to say the other day cece- well done on getting an internet shop in, well thought of.
Stacey - for a home birth you can have all forms of pain relief except an epidural according to some literature the Dr gave me yesterday.
Betty - I would take to your Dr/MW about how you are feeling.
2b2c - congrats, welcome, we have a list of due dates in the posts if you copy it and insert your name with your due date.
Mower - I was thinking about weaning DD3 off the breast too. She's a year in 2-3 weeks, but it's gonna be so hard getting her off!
Hattie - good trick saying you're 6m pg, I could def get away with that! I bought folic acid from supermarket or cheap chemists like savers or homebargains, we are def not blessed with plenty of cash! With a fourth baby on the way and only one of us working we def scrimp!
On the issue of weight, I always lost at least 1/2 stone during early pg then put on 2 stone starting from about 22 weeks, but this time, I'm so hungry and sickness isn't putting me off too much, I'm gonna end up like a house!

cece · 23/03/2006 09:29

Morning,
well I am officically off work today - doc signed me off so I can rest - unfortunately bumped inot my boss this morning at the childminders....

"thought you were supposed to be resting" says he...

"I will be once I get home" says I.....

Who does he think is going to do all the school runs etc when I already have 2 kids ffs!?
I am resting but in the got 2 kids to look after sort of resting!!!!

fatbetty · 23/03/2006 09:38

Yes, having two boys will definately keep me motivated and get me out and about otherwise they will take over the house. Feeling a bit better today. Helps when the sun is out. I don't think the doc can do much for me. My GP (who is a man) will tell me it's just my hormone and things will get better in a few weeks. I think once I start telling people that I am pg, things will get better. However, I'm not looking forward to telling my best friend who has been trying for a baby for nearly 2 years, and I can hear my mother's reaction (which was one of diasppointment when I told her about ds2 - mainly because ds1 was so young). I know it's just all in my head and i'm worrying way too much. blame it on the hormones.

fatbetty · 23/03/2006 09:39

I do have an appointment to see the midwife on the 3rd and will mention how I'm feeling to her then

MeAndMyBoy · 23/03/2006 11:59

Morning.

Cece glad things are settling down for you.

Welcome 2boys2cats we have a stats list somewhere on the thread add your bits when you get a chance :).

DH and I realised that there is a very strong possibilty that he is going to end up missing out on coming to the scans as his job involves a lot of travelling and staying away from home at the moment so have been to the docs today to book myself in to try and give us a little bit of leeway to rearrange the scan appointments so that he might be able to make it.

Appointment was laughable - walked in, morning I'm 8 weeks pg. Fine make an appointment with the midwife for a monday in 2/3 weeks time bye!!

What a waste of a docs appointment.

Take care and I'll catch up again later.

mygirllolipop · 23/03/2006 12:01

Glad to hear it betty (about talking to the MW). I know we won't geta welcom reaction to this pg, it's not about friends MC or TTC though. My parents have just split up at the end of Jan and Mam's not taking it too well, she's thinking of moving all the way down here with us. FIL is just arsey sometimes - he's great he just thinks his way is best and he thinks we should have 3 kids and no more. That's because he had 3 kids. BUT he had 3 boys and wanted to TTC a girl but MIL said no, so he would have had more kids given the chance. But we're not 'allowed'!
cece men just don't understand that resting while running a house isn't as easy as they think. My DH makes no secret that work is a breeze/holiday compared to home!

mygirllolipop · 23/03/2006 12:03

Oh MAMB - thants exactly what the last Drs was like (up north), complete waste of Dr's time! But at least it's no hanging around for you. I've made 2 appointment to see the Dr and I still haven't got an appointment with the MW.

MeAndMyBoy · 23/03/2006 12:22

Isn't it strange how other people feel that they have the right to tell you what you can and can't do still!! We haven't told anyone in RL yet and won't unil we've had the first scan and I know we'll be a barrage of critism for it.

I was fairly sure that was how the appointment would go and wouldn't have gone for another couple of weeks if it hadn't been that I wanted to make sure we might have some leeway to change scan dates :)

right have a couple of deliveries to do some must fly.

staceym11 · 23/03/2006 17:02

hi hope everyone ok, got my delivery of maternity wear today so have more than just one skirt to choose from!!

cant believe im in maternity stuff so early, its a bit big atm but my stuff is too small, and mums (who is a dress size up from me) is cut wrong so it digs in and makes me feel sick!!!

hope everyones ok. apparantly move has been put back a week so will prob be 3 weeks, so il be 10 weeks when we move, so should manage to get a scan by 14 weeks that shouldnt be too bad right??

spinach · 23/03/2006 19:41

Stacey: i would book in where you are now, they can always transfer your notes accross... having moved reecntly, i never take an estate agents or solicitors word on a 'definate moving date'... they never stick to it. in our case, it was 6 months later than the first date we were given!

I feel soooooooooooooooooo much better today, the anti sickness stuff is really helping... actually took dd out. I still feel sick but its better. Still feel exhausted, but have got through the whole day without a nap .

Hope everyone is well. xxx

cece · 23/03/2006 20:02

spinach - glad you are feeling better!

stacey - I agree about getting booked in locally as you may find all scans are booked and you may miss out on one! I have booked in to local hospital despite us moving soon! Not sure if I will have to change hospitals but will definitely have to change GPs after the move.

meggmoo · 23/03/2006 22:29

Hello everyone Smile
Spinach good to hear you are feeling better! Stacey I feel like I'm big and bloated already but I refuse to wear any maternity clothes yet.

I can't remember what I do about bookin gin with anyone. Do I go to my doctors and tell him I'm pregnant and he takes it from there? Was a bit different last time and my brain has shrivelled since then too!

awayfromhome · 24/03/2006 07:26

Hi everyone,

Just been to the doctors and seen and heard a little heartbeat, which has made me relax somewhat. It measures 0.88cm - quite hard to believe something so small can make me feel quite so sick or tired :)

Having a rather stressful day apart from the pregnancy - my power decided to go out so I woke up at 4am to total darkness - discovered after an hour of stumbling around that my fridge/freezer has broken and all the food in the freezer had defrosted... To cap it all off the landlord is now saying that she will only pay if it is wear and tear. Problem is it turns out that the in-laws might not have shut it properly last night causing it to defrost and go into total meltdown - hardly wear and tear - feel rather like shouting at someone!! sorry rant over...

MeAndMyBoy · 24/03/2006 08:48

awayfromhome - not sure where you are sorry, I think have said and i can't remember. If you have contents insurance you might be covered for the fridge/freezer contents in that. Might still be wear and tear if the seal isn't working as well as it should?

I've had it happen twice and it's sooo annoying.

Hope your day is better today.
