Hiya,
Thought I would start a thread as I couldn't seem to find one
I had a BFP yesterday - which by my estimations makes lo#2 due early November! I already have a ds who is 15 months (14/11/04) and my BFP with him was 2 days earlier than this one, how strange is that?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know anyone that joins this thread and wishing everybody a happy healthy pg

i know this sounds a really naive question (and probably very silly) but why are you having your hcg levels checked regularily spinach?

naive as i had a healthy pg with dd and am hoping this one is too so am not planning on lots of tests.

i dont seem to know as much about pregnancy as i thought i did!

mower · 12/03/2006 20:51

Hi staceym11, i had my hcg blood levels checked last week as well. It is to check that the pregnancy is growing at the right speed and comfirms it is a ongoing pregnancy. They did it for me to check that was not etopic, as had bleeding and cramps, they were ok though thank goodness.

Spinach, glad your levels have gone up again nicely. Yes your scan is on same day as mine, a week tomorrow, just can't wait for that scan refuse to beleive I am pregnant till I see what I need to see.

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 20:55

oh i see, now i understand, thanks for filling me in as i said a bit naive! Blush

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 20:56

how is everything mower, im feeling a bit lonely tonight, nobody seems to want to talk to me!!

mower · 12/03/2006 20:58

Hi staceym11, everything ok with me just anxious about my scan a week tomorrow, been feeling pregnant though.

How are you this evening? How far gone pregnant are you now?

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 21:01

im 5 +1 so not very far at all, had no ms yet (touch wood) which is good as with dd had it most of the way through.

still not told many people except best mate and mum (and dp of course) as i dont wanna jinx it!

mygirllolipop · 12/03/2006 21:22

Hi all, stacey it's quiet at wkends as that's when most of us get to spend quality time with our DHs.
Couldn't resist doing another pg test today! Of course the line was well darker! Dr's on Fri, can't wait for scan.

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 21:28

how far are you mygirllollipop? i have the urge to do the other test thats sitting in the bottom drawer! lol dunno why! well my dp is too busy on xbox atm, we did spend the day together tho, i cant bore him for too long!!!!

spinach · 12/03/2006 21:46

staceym: because I ended up in critical care unit last weekend and had to have surgery to remove a massive cyst. They thought it was a tubular abortion or an ectopic, and that i had lost the pregnancy but now, as the pregnancy seems normal so far they reckon it was a cyst. checking the hcg levels to monitor the pregnancy because its too early to see much from the scan. normally, this isnt bothered with.

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 21:49

i see, well im so glad it seems to be going well!!!! it must have been really frightening!

it makes me really humbled to think my pg with dd went without any major problems and i never got that worried.

sorry to sound so incredibly stupid!

spinach · 12/03/2006 21:51

not stupid at all... i didnt know anything about all this till last week either! my first preg was much simplier. This one is probably gonna seem much more complicated and the first 12 weeks will drag because of all the monitoring. I wont relax till i see a heartbeat, and i will only feel content when i feel the baby moving every day. yes, i was scared, it was awful.

staceym11 · 12/03/2006 21:56

at least they are monitoring so you dont worry too much, i am off to bed, my fingers are crossed for you and your little beanie!!

goodnight!

spinach · 12/03/2006 21:57

night night xx

HopingCat · 13/03/2006 09:00

Hi everyone,

Glad that hcg levels are rising for people. I've been to GP now and been told I'll see the midwife at 10 weeks. She was a nice doctor and went through lots of 'dos and don'ts' with me. Then I went away to Anglesey for a couple of days and everything on the menu at the hotel had something in it that I wasn't allowed to eat! Thankfully we had already told dh's mum, who were we eating with at the time.

I've definitely got more symptoms now - waves of sickness coming over me at odd times. I'm also struggling to sleep coz I'm either too hot or too cold, I think someone else mentioned this was happening to them too.

Anyone got any tips for morning sickness? This is my first pg so I don't know what might help. Have been eating gingerbread men all weekend which help a bit, but I could do with a less fattening alternative!

staceym11 · 13/03/2006 10:32

i never found anything to help my morning sickness with dd so i cant help you there, except dps mum said gingerroot biscuits which made me sick even more, but might work for you!

velcrobott · 13/03/2006 12:34

I wondered if anyone was "like me' and had no symptoms.... If I had not tested I woudl not know... Yes my periods aren't back but they are always a hit and miss so that is not a symptom for me.
I may be a bit more out of breath (though I am only 5 weeks!!!!!).
Please reassure me and tell me that you too have no symprom!!! Smile

HopingCat · 13/03/2006 12:38

I had no symptoms at all to start with, except I went walking in the Lake District and felt out of breath very qiockly. I didn't feel pg by week 5, except my boobs felt more sore than usual af feelings. Now I'm week 6 and have slight heartburn and sometimes feel sick so it's feeling more real.

staceym11 · 13/03/2006 12:43

i havnt had symptoms, except had bad pain in my abdomen on sat, but think i just strained it picking up bf's 4 yo dd!

im not feeling sick yet (touch wood) as had morning sickness for about 8months last time, and not really had sore boobs.

but i do know im pg, 1. from the test and 2. because the lump in my boob that appeared when first pg with dd has got bigger (dont worry have had it checked out and is nothing to worry about, but obv. affected by my hormones when pg!!)

velcrobott · 13/03/2006 12:44

Thanks HC... funny how we are out of breath?!?!?!?!
My boobs feel quite OK but I have had 2 kids before ????
I am sure that if I hadn't tested I would not have a clue!
I do feel les interested in alcohol which is good!

cece · 13/03/2006 16:57

velcrobott

I too have no symtoms. Keep forgetting I'm pg! LOL.

Keep feeling slightly concerned at lack of symptoms. Keep reading it is a good sign to feel sick etc, so is it a bad sign not to feel sick etc? However, I wasn't sick with either of my previous pg so nto sure what to think. Funnily enough the lack of symptoms then did not worry me at all!

velcrobott · 13/03/2006 17:37

I am the same Cece... last time I didn't worry but this time I ahve a higher chance of miscarriage and I can't quite believe I actually managed to get pregnant!!!
Last time I had SPD symptoms already at 5 weeks so am hoping that I stay clear from it this time!!!!

cece · 13/03/2006 17:50

Me too, I'm 39 now and firstly amazed I got pg and now terrified something is going to go wrong due to my decrepid age...

spinach · 13/03/2006 18:45

Hi all, well I have all the usual symptoms, have had sickness from about 3 weeks, sore boobs, extreme tiredness, weapy, emotional, cant stand tea, coffee, wine, need to eat more often. I didnt have any of these symptoms untill 7 weeks with my first pregnancy so I'm surprised that this time its all starting so early.

Hope you're all well, I'm still feeling exhausted after my surgery last weekend, but otherwise feel fine.

twocatsonthebed · 13/03/2006 19:13

And me, it's really only my bust which is a reminder at all. Plus maybe a slight bit of breathlessness.

And Cece - I'm 40, so I know just what you mean....

velcrobott · 13/03/2006 19:31

I am young then at 38 LOL
