Marne {{{{Big Hugs}}}} really hope your feeling better soon x

UniSarah · 19/03/2006 21:28

Hope you feel better soon Marne.
To all who are un sure on the B-feeding front- Please give it a go. I found it NOT as hard as I expected.1st couple of days I needed help from M/W getting him latched on, but learnt by copying what they did. Now Eds got the hang of it mostly and its a lovely thing that only I can do for him, even tho dad is better at calming him down, and bathing him.

Had first over full day today, milk squirting every where at start of feed, wet T-shirt etc. bit werid, but copable with.
UniSArah

Astrophe · 19/03/2006 21:40

So much going on on this thread - congrats to all the new Mummies!

Marne-hope by the time you read this you are feeling much better and more cheerful. Infection would really get you down, as if having a newborn isn't hard enough! Hope you are able to get help with your toddler as well.

Elijah and I are getting the hang of feeding - its so good to have a 'second time ' perspective on this...looking forward to the time when it becomes second nature for both of us.

Sleep is improving by a little each night.

Tomorrow DH goes back to work, so just me and the kids this week until Mum arrives from Aust on Saturday. I'm a bit terrified.

I guess nobody has heard news from Romilly yet?

Astrophe · 19/03/2006 21:47

Am with you UniSarah in encouraging 'Not-sures" to try BF if you can. Apart from benefits to bub which of course you all know, there comes a time when its so easy (well, for most people anyway) and you feel so glad that you could take bub anywhere and feed him/her without havibg to sterilize a thing! Fantastic! I would definately say don't make any rash decisions based on early days feeds either.

Sorry if I am being annoying, I'm just really glad I pesevered with my dd last time :)

jersey · 20/03/2006 09:29

Sorry to gatecrash but is there any news from Rom yet?

Thanks

vickiyumyum · 20/03/2006 10:07

HI all, well home at last with Lucy! (so the scans were right!) will post all details on teh thread mojomummy started for me.

basically sectioon went fine, except lucy was stuck under my ribs and had to be manually removed (surgeon up to his shoulders in my insides. ouch!)and so have considerble bruising in my scar area. things went a bit downhill fromthere and i was kept in as had lost too much blood, had to have a transfusion and my kidneys packed in!

all well now and home, lucy just gone on her first outing with dh and ds2 to the local shops so posting this while he is gone, as he keepes telling me to rest and get back to bed! all seems worth it now that lucy is here she is beautiful, although looks excatly like ds2 so will have to make sure she wears pink at all times LOL! still seems very starnge having agirl and keep looking at all the pink cards, flowers, balloons, and presents, sure i will get fed up with pink eventually or she will grow up to hate pink and only want to wear boys clothes!

anyway better had go before dh gets back! best wishes to all of you who have had your abbies and good luck to those of you still to go, hope all goes smoothly.

Munz · 20/03/2006 10:28

oh marne - u have my sympathies honney - they thought my stitches were infected whern I was in the hospital, it's horrid isn't it. (((hugs)))

PIL have finally gone away - yay! Joey has been a nightmare sleeper last week - so over tired not latching probs with a dummy etc the list is endless, anyhow it's just us two now and so far things are good, he's fed every 3 hours from 9.45 last night was grissaly this morning about 3.30 so he came into bed with me after his fed.

anyhow hope every oen's well.

friz - u go ahead and start the thread - it's all I can do to keep awake at the minute - althou hopefully things will start to get better now i'm more relaxed and can get Joey into a bit of a routein.

spiker · 20/03/2006 16:20

Not had time to catch up with the thread properly...all that cleaning and moving activity did indeed set me off and I went into labour on 14th (EDD 23 march). 19 hours later Seth arrived on 15 March by forceps delivery, 9lb 3oz. Labour/delivery didn't go too well, and I'm struggling to recover due to large blood loss and Piles From Hell obtained from pushing for 3 hours. The stitches are a bitch but nowhere near the agony of the piles! Not helped by god-awful cough - ouch! Happily Seth is super-healthy - and super-sleepy as well at the moment Grin And very strong, he can lift his head and shoulders up.

Marne - your stitches have my heartfelt sympathies. Have you got anything for the pain?

Jackstini · 20/03/2006 16:45

Congrats to all those that have popped since the last stats! Have been doing lots of resting since finally finishing work but even though it has only been a week I am restless now for baby to come! Due date tomorrow but don't feel like anything will be happening any time soon Sad
Just know I am going to be one of those desparate people drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating curry, having sex etc....! Grin
Good luck to everyone else currently in labour/waiting to start!

laundrylover · 20/03/2006 17:04

Congrats Spiker - ooh, ouch and closing my ears!!GrinHope things settle down soon and that Seth stays sleepy for a while longer.
Welcome back VYY will check your story but more ouchs - stuck up at your ribs!!!! If you get sick of pink try some purple....
Jackstini, yep join us in the induction race! I had pineapple on Sat and sex (in the birth poolShockBlush) yesterday. Curry tonight.....
Munz, try and get some time with just you and Joey and sort that feeding out eh? He could be having a growth spurt too so should settle down very soon.
Unisarah and Astrophe you sound like prize milking heifers to me - keep it up!!Grin

Marne · 20/03/2006 17:17

Feeling alot better today and midwife said the infection is clearing up, dh has been a big help and has been looking after dd1 so i can sleep when baby is sleeping. Still taking pain killers and stitches are stll aching, managed to pop into work today to show off baby and found out one of the girls i work with had been killed in a riding accident and nobody had told me so i'm a bit upset and angry as i missed the funeral.

Anyway i hope you are all well.

helencook2711 · 20/03/2006 17:23

Hey all, Spiker, I'm so incredibly jealous (as our dates the same!) Not so jealous on the other fronts though, sending lots of pain killing vibes your way!!! Glad you've got a fab, healthy big boy at the end of all that trauma!Smile
Big hugs to Marne, hoping things have picked up for you a bit, one day at a time and all that jazz. After reading all messages today, just rings true what a flaming super, capable, wonderful, amazing mind blowingly marvellous species us females are for all we cope with!!!!!! (just recite that to yourself whenever feeling in the slightest bit low!)

helencook2711 · 20/03/2006 17:29

Blimey Marne, what a blow... very sorry to hear that news, I'd be upset too having missed the funeral, but maybe your colleuges thought it was for the best (like most people avoid anything real life when around an expectant/new mum).x

Frizbe · 20/03/2006 21:44

Marne I can relate to that, I lost one of my team at work, when I was off on maternity last time, and no one thought to mention it to me....I sent a seperate card to his wife, as who knows what she must have thought when I didn't turn up to the funeral as I was his immediate boss......

Jackstini good luck with kicking off soon hon Smile

Spiker and VYY congrats Grin will look for the gory details soon

Munz, I'll do a new thread tomorrow when more time!

Rom, hoping your ok hon xx

Hi to everyone else, sorry but have to dash n feed again!! wish I was overflowing with milk, but appears not to be the case unlike some of you ladies!!

InternationalGirl · 21/03/2006 14:10

Hiya: Congratulations to all those who have had babies since my last posting - I haven't really had a chance to catch up on all the messages.

BUT I really wanted to let you all know I took my turn. InternationalBabe, Jacob James, 7lbs arrived safely on March 20th after a speedy labour - I have posted a more detailed message on the 'Birth Announcements'.

Wishing those with new babes happy feeding and sleep and those waiting for babes positive vibes it'll happen soon for you. Grin

Frizbe · 21/03/2006 14:21

Congrats Int Girl!! Grin

have quickly knocked up a postnatal thread to get those of us who have popped out of your way ladies!! \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=19786&topicid=2330&threadid=157356&redir=19786\March06postnatal} hope to see you all there soon Smile

helencook2711 · 21/03/2006 15:05

Hello all, just reporting back from check up, with Doc as MW fully booked. Am 39+5 only measuring 37 must be a little'un. Ds1 was 8lb 10.5 so wasn't quite expecting this....is it all rubbish? Plus head is 2/5 engaged! Blimey although I know it could pop out again whenever it damn well pleases. New juicer arrived today, very fab, you can stick anything in it most things even with peel etc on, so am going to whizz up pinapple, pinapple and more fresh pinapple! DH kidding himself into thinking with this new contraption he can shift his excess weight faster than my impending baggy tummy (we have a bet) Congrats IntGirl have posted on Birth Announcement, still no news on Rom?, hope all is settling down well there. Laters Taters.x

Jackstini · 21/03/2006 20:46

Marne - understand it is difficult situation. One of my friends died a couple of weeks ago and the funeral was last week. Everyone advised me not to go as it was 6 days before due date and I had hospital appt. I didn't go but will never be sure if it was the right decision.
Helen - also had my check up today and head is 2/5ths in. Have a sweep booked for next Tuesday if it doesn't come out before then. mw said it is looking min. 8lbs+ already.
Friz - you are good! - hope to be joining that thread soon...
Off to read Int Girl's birth announcement now!

laundrylover · 21/03/2006 21:36

Congrats IntGirl....off to find the birth post.
Marne, sorry you are having such a shit time of it.Sad
It's my birthday tomorrow so what's the betting this baby will arrive then? As Tilly came before her due date it's my first experience of the very annoying 'any news yet?' texts!!!! Sod off, we'll let you know when it happens!!!Grin

romilly · 22/03/2006 05:29

I'm home - at last! - holding my beautiful little baby girl - absolutely knackered beyond belief - but also on cloud nine, of course Smile

thankyou all for thinking of me. very touching. i only came out of hospital yesterday (after going in on weds. 8.30 15th march for induction). briefly, (sorry too tired to do lengthy post at 5 in morning!) it was a long haul, started contractions very quickly after pessary inserted, but didnt deliver until friday 17th march 07:55 am. narrowly avoided c-section, - she did turn at last minute! it was tough but worth every second of the pain. cadmum - your advice was great, thankyou. Little one weighed 8lb, and is very gorgeous and healthy. also very nocturnal. was kept in hosp. cause b/p rocketed during labour.

love to everyone and catch up properly later

congrats to all new mums! marne and spiker hope u r recovering

friz and munz - missed you girlies
x

RosiePosie · 22/03/2006 08:10

Oh, Congratulations Romilly! It sounds very similar to my first (posterior) labour - pretty tough, but the other two were "only" nine hours, and one of those was posterior too. Take it easy, the sleep deprivation doesn't last forever, promise!

jersey · 22/03/2006 08:41

Congrats Romilly on your daughter.

helencook2711 · 22/03/2006 14:11

W'hoo ! Congrats Romilly, another good sized bundle of joy! Things will be much more comfortable now your home, you probably forgot what it loooked like after that stay in Hospital! Sorry for the same old same old, but ENJOY IT! Do whatever suits you and no other Bugger, and Nocturnal rendevouz with babe and milk soon become second nature, and then sooner than that pass. (remind me of that again soon when i'm in your position!)Take it easy, Hi to all.x

Frizbe · 22/03/2006 17:19

Fab news Rom Grin huge congrats to you and your new family addition Grin
Hi to everyone else, here's hoping no one else goes over dates or has to have sweaps etc Grin

Jackstini · 22/03/2006 17:51
