Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
applepieinthesky · 22/05/2012 21:57

I was in Torquay a few days ago missy Was lovely sitting out in the sunshine eating lunch overlooking the harbour. Tomorrow is meant to be a scorcher as well Smile

I finally told my boss and some colleagues today. It feels so good now I no longer have to try and hide it. It's like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Everyone seemed genuinely pleased for me as well despite the extra work it will create for them. Nobody had guessed either, they had no idea. 15 weeks friday and I want a bump please!!

MissMummy1 · 22/05/2012 23:01

Due 29th November with our first. First scans next Thursday - dead excited but terrified all at once! A friend suggested I join this but I have no idea what I'm doing!!

mrswee · 22/05/2012 23:10

Hi missmummy1 I just joined this thread today too, I'm due on the 27th, had my scan today. I had thought I was due on the 30th but the dating scan says the 27th!

YellowWellies · 22/05/2012 23:20

Whoop MissMummy1 am so glad you signed up - If you are who I think you are!!! (This is Cat xxx - I'd make a rubbish spy / covert operative no?) and if you're not who I think you are - welcome to the group anyway! :)

Welcome to the newbies. misslaughalot I too am in the irritable phase - have put phone down on someone today, argued with my mum because she kept offering to help with everything and been very cross with DH for daring to fall asleep when watching TV with me! I remember when pregnant with DD I had a huge meltdown in ToysrUs (demanding to speak to the manager, etc) over a pushchair cover worth all of 10 pounds. Really hoping it doesn't get to that stage this time, but I don't think this warm weather helps - I've been hot and grouchy all day.

MissMummy1 · 23/05/2012 06:09

Hi YellowWellies - yes it is me!! Lol.

daisychain76, I hear what you're saying. I'm so grumpy with anyone and everyone at the moment, and then when I snap at DH I just get more annoyed with myself :(

StuntNun · 23/05/2012 07:05

Had to lol at you Daisy I know just what you mean, my mum does exactly the same: Do you want this, Can I buy you this, Why don't you go and lie down, I'll do this for you... It's meant well but gets a bit wearing after a while.

Oh god, sounds complicated MrsWee!! Good luck with that, sounds a little like you might need it - or sunglasses to deal with the 70s decor!! Wink

My work friend had her baby yesterday morning, at 40+16, after being induced on Sunday. A little girl. Lovely name - one that I had considered and is now, by definition, ruled out. Seems to be happening a lot lately - so many people are having babies & stealing my favourite names, how dare they??!! Grin

SwissArmyWife · 23/05/2012 08:55

Hi all, how is everyone enjoying the weather? The sun is giving me a headache but it's still nice, DD is enjoying it anyway.

Daisy I am just as irritable, half of the time I don't even know why, and the other half it's just for silly reasons! However i'm very much looking forward to the end of the week as DH and I are going shopping for baby things! Grin

Today I may go and watch the Olympic torch relay as I live in Swindon anyway so it's practically right on my doorstep. I don't know if i'm that bothered though to be honest, the thought of massive crowds in this heat is putting me off!

On a baby note, still not really feeling that many movements, but haven't had any symptoms that would indicate anything was wrong, so i'll just have to be extremely patient for now!

Hope everyone has a lovely day today :)

HelloBear · 23/05/2012 09:10

Sorry for late reply - thanks to those who reassured me that having your pulse taken is normal :)

It is silly the things you worry about when pregnant!

horseylady · 23/05/2012 09:13

Morning!!! Beautiful day so tempted to take half a day lol but prob won't!! I'm majorly stressing about money :( I think I need to sell one of my horses and am not sure whether to advertise both and let fate decide or sell the one I think I want to go :( que more tears!!!!

ditsygem · 23/05/2012 09:51

Oh Horseylady that sounds so hard. Is there a possibility of loaning one of them out instead?

Well ladies, 15 weeks and I finally feel confident I am over my morning sickness! woo! I have actually gone back on the Slimming World plan for the last couple of days and stuck to it, now my eating habits arn't dictated by nausea. I'm hoping to keep sticking to it mainly through out pregnancy but not stress about sticking to it ridgidly, but hopefully keep myself from gaining ridiculous amounts of weight, as I had put on quite a bit of weight before I got pregnant so don't want to add to much too that!
I think someone else was talking about doing slimming world early in this thread but I can't remember who.

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine (although it doesn't make commuting at all fun!)

horseylady · 23/05/2012 10:20

One of them is on loan!!! I might send the pony to college again. It's just more sensible to sell her and get some money for her rather than worry about her returning. I just hoped I could keep her forever but I don't think it's sensible! Maybe she can go another year there and I can see how I feel about the other one?

ValiumQueen · 23/05/2012 10:30

Ditzy I was doing SW, but it did not work with my MS and cravings. I am now loosely following WW but am having a week off as not well at all. I have never done WW before, and am loving it, and eating better than I ever did on SW.

SwissArmyWife · 23/05/2012 11:15

-Feels guilty about sitting here chomping a packet of crisps- I'm going to get so fat :(

I don't think I could follow WW or anything like that while pregnant - i'd worry too much about the baby not getting what it needs
(I know, I know, crisps aren't exactly a part of that list but I think pregnant women should definitely be able to eat what they want when they want, and bring on the breastfeeding to lose all that weight!)
So when I do the weekly shop on friday i'll be getting all fresh ingredients and making super super healthy meals (Jamie's 30 minute meals are great) so we can all benefit and I can hopefully ward off any unnecessary weight gain.

Since being so exhausted from all that horrible MS and a lot of stress at home (we're trying to move too) i've just been doing freezer to oven meals but i'm ready to go back to cooking properly now Grin

Brockle · 23/05/2012 11:25

Nice to see we are all good and grumpy! I am such an irritable old grouch bag at the mo. Luckily (unluckily for DH) it has just been at home over the stupidest things but I am so close to blowing up at work. I am so easy going usually and don't remember being like this with the boys.

Hips are playing up to which is not fun. Really hoping its just the baby rooming in as I don't want to take any time off work before 39 weeks.

Good news is I have a bump! Look much bigger than my 14 weeks but it is nice to see some evidence that something is in there. I get the odd movement but nothing major yet.

Good luck with all the ladies moving house. I work in property so deal with the stress every day so I know it is not good, especially when you are preggers.

Enjoy the sunshine!

ValiumQueen · 23/05/2012 11:27

Swiss when pg with DD2 I lived on double cheeseburgers and chocolate, and I gained weight both times when breastfeeding. I have to be careful about my food choices, as my body tells me big fat lies.

applepieinthesky · 23/05/2012 11:30

You can eat tonnes of food on Slimming World. I think you can eat as much fruit, veg and potatoes as you like so I wouldn't worry about lack of nutrients for the baby on that diet. I'm not following it but I know lots of people that are and they have all had success with it.

YellowWellies · 23/05/2012 11:38

Wooo Swiss I love that Jamie book - great idea! - anyone else drooling over Gok Wan's Chinese cookery series? I have to get that book - the only Chinese takeaway on the island is rubbish so I am desperately craving decent Chinese food (craving in a greedy bastard not a preggers MS / food craving way).... I got the Takeaway Cheat cookbook (and the recipes do taste amazingly like real takeaways cooked at home) but was horrified by the amount of sugar (think cups and cups and cups) that go into my favourite dishes.

I was grumpy on holiday - but am desperately trying not to be now we're home as DH proved his metal by spoiling me (including changing the sheets as soon as we got home after 24 hours travelling without even being asked - what's that about? That's not normal male behaviour????) and not snapping at my hormonal arsiness - so I am really trying to be rational and not a furious ball of pissy hormones.... nnnnnngggggggggg raaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Grin

ValiumQueen · 23/05/2012 11:42

On SW you can eat shedloads of all the good stuff, including meat, poultry, pulses, but dairy and bread and fats and sugars are limited. When pg you get extra dairy servings, and also while bfing. It is a good healthy eating plan, and I will return to it in time, but at the moment WW is easier for me, and is helping me with portion control, which is where SW can fail dramatically.

Thechick · 23/05/2012 12:07

You guys are making me giggle at my desk. Im supposed to be looking like i'm doing work!!

I have been a bit grouchy too, but i seem to be coming out the other end, thank goodness. I wasnt very nice to my poor DH and i even stopped talking to someone in my team at work because they were getting on my nerves so much. Now i'm not so grumpy just cant remember anything!! Brain has turned to mush!!

Im loving avocados at the mo, cant get enough ane icecream. It tastes amazing!! Milk does bad things to my insides (tmi??) so its probably the calcium I'm craving.

ditsygem · 23/05/2012 12:22

I know what you mean Valium I think I actually eat more on Slimming World then I do normally- but its all the right things (loads of veg and fruit and quorn and pasta and rice etc) so I'm not worried at all about baby getting what it needs.

I am having a totally stressful day today though, we are buying a house and have just been told by the surveyor that their is some major structural work that needs doing and to not go ahead with the purchase unless the seller agrees to pay for the work - eek! its never straight forward is it?!

YellowWellies · 23/05/2012 12:44

A few years ago DH and I lost nearly 3 stone each so as not to be lard arses on the wedding pics - and looking back we were both definitely eating more food than normal we were just eating the right stuff. I barely touched processed carbs and just filled up on fruit and veg and lean proteins. SW sounds pretty much like what we did.

applepieinthesky · 23/05/2012 13:20

That's a shame ditsy So are you now waiting for the seller to get back to you?

I've been told someone I work with has recently had radiotherapy (?) or radium treatment or something for a thyroid problem which has made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Apparently there is a very small risk to pregnant women but only if he is within 1 metre of me for more than 15 minutes at a time.

He is lovely and has offered to work from another office if I want but I feel like that would be a bit irrational of me. It is only for the next couple of days and I don't work closely with him anyway but I'm feeling emotional at the moment. I'm sure it will be fine won't it?
