Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Thechick · 21/05/2012 14:32

I can't wait till I can feel it move. I feel like i'm in limbo at the mo. Symptoms gone, apart from my strange anti-cravings (which i would love to go away so i can eat normally) and tiredness. I have a bump but am not feeling any movement. Dont have a midwife appointment until I'm 17+5 I'm now 14+1 weeks and wont have my 20 week scan till I'm 22 weeks which is 18th July. Feel like i'm constantly wishing time away!!

Darcy how you feel sounds completely normal and i think the hormones dont help and you have so much going on. This is a huge thing we are doing and we should try to enjoy it but it still is a pretty big life events. I remember still feeling overwhelmed long after i had ds.

ShellyBobbs thats not nice at all. Its good that you reported them to ebay.

I have no short term memory anymore. I cannot remember anything. Really hope this doesn't last long. Is it just me??

HelloBear · 21/05/2012 14:34

Hi Ladies - I'm a lurker but wanted to ask a question so hope you don't mind me jumping in?

I had my MW apt today (17 weeks -makes me officially oct but my original dates were 4th Nov so I'm sticking here!).

Anyway...had MW apt and she really struggled to find babies heartbeat thou eventually found it. She then took my pulse. Now I remember in my first pregnancy that they always do BP but I can not remember them ever doing my pulse.

Has anyone else had their pulse taken? I should have asked there and then about it but you know what it is like your mind goes blank!

WestWinger · 21/05/2012 14:55

Hi hellobear can't remember if they took my pulse or not. Took them ages to find my baby's HB too. There are some midwives on this thread who should able to answer you better than I can! Hope all is well.

ValiumQueen · 21/05/2012 15:10

Hello Bear Welcome. Do not worry about having your pulse taken - if your midwife is also a nurse, then taking the pulse is so automatic, and it really is the most basic of medical observations there is. The midwife listened to my placenta, which will give my pulse rate. It is normal for a ladies rate to be faster when pregnant due to the extra blood. If she was concerned, she would have said.

I am not well - in hospital yesterday having become dehydrated through vomiting, and also bringing up blood. Also have a chest infection - I get these a lot when pg. I am still finding breathing painful, and also swallowing as I have a tear in my gullet, which caused the bleeding. I am seriously thinking about finishing for mat leave at 29 weeks, as I feel awful. So much for blooming.

DonnaDoon · 21/05/2012 15:33

Geez valium you poor thing

ValiumQueen · 21/05/2012 15:36

I am not a happy bunny.

WestWinger · 21/05/2012 16:34

valium you poor thing. Wish you better. x

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2012 16:38

Hope you feel better v soon valium

I found baby's heartbeat with my Doppler :) it took a while and it was lower down than I thought. Now I'm going to be obsessed analysing how fast it is to work out if it's a girl/ boy!

ItalaItala · 21/05/2012 17:12

Hope everyone is enjoying some lovely sunshine today

Congrats on having a boy detective

Darcy I haven't really felt attached to any of my babies when I was pg, with DD1 I felt quite neutral for the first day or so but with DD2 I felt incredibly posessive as soon as she was born. I don't feel "connected" to this one either (I think it is partly because we don't know the sex so "it" doesn't have a name or gender) but I am sure it will all be fine once it is born. I think your feelings are all quite normal.

I had my homebirth visit from the mw today (at home) she was very positive and although she had to go through all the worst case senarios she kept saying they are quite rare and unlikely to happen in my case (tearing/ excess blood loss/ etc) All is good with baby as well so just one more visit to the mw (where she takes more blood ) then they will be on call for me eek.

blonderthanred · 21/05/2012 17:15

That's awful Valium, sorry to hear it. Hope you are soon on the mend.

p.s. if it cheers you up at all, my phone just tried to autocorrect 'mend' to 'men's'.

SwissArmyWife · 21/05/2012 17:15

Oh Valium that sounds awful, I really hope you get better soon :(

TheChick I'm the same with feeling like i'm in limbo. Have a bump, but no symptoms anymore apart from pain in my hips, and no certain movements. I can't wait to start feeling it every day as I just worry constantly at the moment!

ItalaItala · 21/05/2012 17:21

Sorry posted too soon

valium Thats sounds horrid - how many wks are you now?

shelly good for you reporting them - that sounds like harrassment, especially as you had agreed a collection date.

desperate I heard the heartbeat today and couldn't work out whether it sounds like a galloping horse or a train Confused are you going to find out what you are having?

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2012 17:33

itala yes we'll know on the 9th June we're having a private scan :) it'll be funti try and guess before then and see if I'm right!
I have a tiny inkling it's a girl but I've got no evidence for this and it might be that I'd quite like a girl!

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2012 17:33

Fun to*

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2012 17:36

I've just read that a boys heart rate is usually lower (under 140 bpm) and girls is higher (over 140 bpm) apparently!

ShellyBobbs · 21/05/2012 18:25

ValiumQueen That is awful, I don't blame you finishing as soon as you can. How did the rest of your pregnancy go last time, hope you feel a lot better soon x

Ooooh me bloody back! Well, wondered when this would rear it's ugly little head, the old back ache, it's here and I'm sure it's here until November if the last 3 are anything to go by :( Just missing the arse ache and I've got a full set before I'm even nearly half way through! I'm sure the rib ache will be queuing up for a go soon aswell.

Well just on a brew break, so back off to work, hi ho Grin Can't wait for a nice bath later.

blonderthanred · 21/05/2012 18:25

DH, mine was 150 so we'll see!

ShellyBobbs · 21/05/2012 18:26

Itala How long have you got now? Ooooohhhh I get a bit excited when I see that you've posted Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/05/2012 19:14

blonder ooh v fast! We shall see indeed!

I think I've got pgp :( has anyone else experienced this? I didn't have it with ds so it's new to me and not v nice.

ValiumQueen · 21/05/2012 19:41

Thank you for your well wishes ladies. It really helps x

blonder I will have the men when I feel a bit better - it did make me smile.

italia I am nearly 17 weeks so getting there. Not long for you now eh?

shelley my first pregnancy was a dream, second ok apart from pgp, chest infections and getting so very huge, I was hoping I would get a nice pg this time. I have only had chest infections since having the swine flu jag when I was pg last time.

At least I am managing to control my weight this time - no pgp as yer, but it can appear any time.

I had a sleep this afternoon so feel a tad better, but still cannot eat, and drinking is a challenge too. My pee looks like carrot juice.

Passmethecrisps · 21/05/2012 19:43

Hello,

Poor you Valium. I really hope you feel much better soon.

Just been really emotional reading various threads on here. Been having a right good blub. DH home from a meeting now so he can make me some Brew

It's been a fairly traumatic weekend - my sister is pregnant and was due to let people know officially this week as she hit 12 weeks. However, she was in and out of hospital all weekend with nasty heavy bleeding. I know I barely slept so I don't know about her . . .thankfully a scan today revealed all is well! So my parents officially have two grandchildren on the way! Docs have no idea what caused the bleeding and don't seem to care either. I suppose it doesn't matter as long as there something swimming about in there

Shelly/ Valium I am 32wk today. Glad to make you all excited! Grin

Darcy Well done with getting the scan & NT test. Good that all is well.

Pass How scary for your sister - at least there is a good outcome

YellowWellies · 21/05/2012 20:46

Hello all - am back from my hols and have just spent two hours catching up with everyones news. Great news on the scans! And oh wow - two boys confirmed already - how amazing. Did you ladies sense you were having boys? I also hope those feeling rough are feeling better.

All is good here. The holiday was just what we needed - though I wouldn't recommend three flights back to back for us updiffed ladies - oh my word the restless legs and in over 24 hours of travelling I managed less than 90 minutes sleep grrrrrr!!! Still that's the joys of living in the middle of fecking nowhere - it takes forever to get home! On a positive note I've managed to lose 8lb (all of which I'd gained since the BFP!) on holiday by virtue of snorkelling and swimming for hours every day chasing tropical fish in the sea so I'm back to my normal BMI and I have a slight bump rather than a mahoosive bloat - it didn't feel like exercise at all as it was fun, and has made me realise that most of my weight gain was food - and my breathlessness was food and lack of exercise too. Am feeling so much fitter now I'm back - though that could be the second trimester kicking in. I think also being away from home and comfort foods helped as I couldn't obsess about a specific food craving - basically because I couldn't get any of them - so I just ate normally. Anyway it's persuaded me that I need to sign up for aquanatal (sigh if only the sea here was warm enough to snorkel in) as I don't want to put on so much weight that I can't handle labour.

The only downside of the holiday, was not being able to slather myself in DEET so I was basically an all you can eat buffet for the mozzies - anyone going on holiday anywhere where there could be flying bitey beasts - can I recommend aloe vera gel - it's totally safe for Mums to be (unlike virtually any other effective insect deterrent) - I only discovered it in week two of our hols and it worked a treat. Also very good to stop you overheating if you keep it in the fridge! I found the heat a challenge initially 33c and stupidly humid but acclimatised in 4 days or so.

Also felt the first definite kicks! Junior seemed to enjoy the sensation of swimming in the sea as was so active afterwards.

Now am home wishing we could go on holiday again before junior arrives.....

WestWinger · 21/05/2012 21:09

Welcome back YW glad you had a lovely holiday!
