detective put them on the fb group :)

Dh's dad has agree to put £50 towards a private scan, so we should be able to find out the sex in a months time eeee!!

horseylady · 29/04/2012 19:44

Will be nice to see when sorted!!! Assume they couldn't tell the sex? Dh wants to know the sex said we could have a scan earlier if he wanted but would have to pay for it!! He said no I'd just laugh again!! I'm not worried what we have or when we find out!! Fil on his way round shortly :/

TheDetective · 29/04/2012 19:59

They seem to be on there now!!

I can't believe in 2 weeks and 6 days we will know if we are having a son or daughter! After todays scan I'm convinced its a boy! Everyone who has looked at the pics has said boy too!

They wouldn't let us see the nub, so no Horsey we couldn't even have a guess for ourselves :(

izzybizzybuzzybees · 29/04/2012 19:59

cacacaz glad you enjoyed the baby show. Which pram did you end up getting? We played with my top 3 and think we have narrowed it down to two now! The uppababy vista cruz (not due out til July) and the babystyle oyster. We liked the normal vista too but it's a little chunkier than we need and the new cruz is their urban version.

I have my scan on tues. very nervous after all the problems but I'm hoping it'll be ok. Bought baby it's first outfit at the baby show today :) and our daughter a wee teddy and t shirt with best big sister on it :)

blonderthanred · 29/04/2012 20:47

Anyone see this today:
www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/apr/28/sex-unborn-child or the related article about crazy cake parties?
www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/apr/28/british-mothers-party-cakes-babys-sex?intcmp=239

The 'Yes' camp writer in the first article is actually an old friend of mine, I didn't even know she was pregnant - that's one way to find out!

Personally I'm dying to know, but it's hard to say why; I guess I just want to know as much about my baby as soon as possible. I can't wait to get to know him or her (don't care which) and that feels like the first step in the process. I'm also a non-gender-stereotype advocate so probably won't tell anyone else when we do find out, but the prospect of having that knowledge is just so exciting.

Cacacaz · 29/04/2012 21:08

Izzy we ordered the uppababy vista, I just love it and it will fit perfectly in both our cars. What did you think of the baby show? How old is your daughter?

detective scan sounds lovely, I look forward to seeing the pictures. I have added one of ours to the fb group, if anyone wants a nosey.

TheDetective · 29/04/2012 21:23

I just rang work to resume this week. I don't know how I'm going to manage. Badly probably... I can only seem to manage a couple of hours out the house at a time before I am exhausted and nauseous and begging for a lie down.

I was sick again this morning. For the first time it was before I even made it out of bed! How rude!!

WaitingForMe · 29/04/2012 21:27

I'm just getting DH to scan our scan pics now. Will put them up tomorrow.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 29/04/2012 21:28

cacacaz I can see the appeal of the vista but we preferred the cruz, the vista he said was best suited if you were going to off road at all or if you wanted to be able to overnight sleep in the carrycot. It is gorgeous tho! Where did u order it from? The Glasgow pram centre said the cruz is due in July and that they will have a demo a few weeks before. Our daughter will be 3 in November. We had fun at the show although most people that went that we know have said they didn't like it and that there were no offers.

horseylady · 29/04/2012 21:39

Well at least my family are excited and have the common curtisy to say congratulations!! Actually fil said congrats but sil et al haven't been in touch. Trying hard not to get upset but actually think I might cry :(

izzybizzybuzzybees · 29/04/2012 21:44

Oh horsey that's horrible. Sorry they have upset you :( and here's a big

CONGRATULATIONS :) :) :)

Cacacaz · 29/04/2012 21:45

Izzy we ordered ours from the Stirling Pram Centre, which sounds insane as we are in Ayrshire, but it only costs £10 to get it delivered. We figured that it was too good a saving to wait. There seemed to be more discounts on bigger purchases, some of the furniture collections from mamas and papas came with a free mattress.

I think it suited us as dh isn't very keen on shopping and can't be bothered going from one shop to another, so to have so much in the one building didn't feel like a normal shopping trip with me Wink as I could shop all day long!

I did see the cruz, but didn't have around with it, what is the difference between the two?

jenbird · 29/04/2012 22:00

Not posted much but great to read through your news. I feel like crap but now it is because I have flu. Aches and chills and cough and temp of 39. Been taking paracetomol and hopefully baby will be fine but may phone Dr just in case.
My nearly 2 year old also chose today to stick a small piece of Lego up his nose. I could really have done without a trip to a and e but he is fine so that's all that matters really.
Roll on 2 weeks for my scan on may 11th x

izzybizzybuzzybees · 29/04/2012 22:02

cacacaz that sounds like you got a good deal. The vista cruz is basically just a narrower lighter vista. It has same huge basket, can forward and rear face etc, comes with carrycot (it's not as deep as the normal vista and can't be used overnight) and that's pretty much it! The fold is the same etc too. I do like the vista and of he hadn't pointed out the cruz I would have been deciding between that and the oyster although to be fair the oyster is less expensive. I think when we looked at vista it was near £600.

We are in Renfrewshire so not too far from you :)

Cacacaz · 29/04/2012 23:10

*Izzy that is the rrp, we got it for £510, very happy with that Grin

The cruz sounds good too and to be fair I can't imagine many people would use the carrycot overnight very often, we certainly don't plan too, unless staying overnight somewhere with baby.

What is the other pram like? < slightly obsessed with all things baby related ATM >

I know Renfrewshire quite well, as I used to work there a few years ago.

Aargh dh is snoring after a few too many beers this afternoon, I can see me moving into the spare room tonight!

Cacacaz · 29/04/2012 23:12

Horsey sorry your about your in-laws, in glad you got a lovely reaction from your own family

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/04/2012 07:49

I can now say my scan is next fri so that sounds like its getting closer at last!

I'm slowly starting to feel less tired in the evenings and the nausea is fading, looks like the second trimester is looming!

LittleLolly · 30/04/2012 07:53

Just checking into the new thread!

My sister is in labour, eek!! I'm so excited!

:) :) :)

stabiliser15 · 30/04/2012 08:44

Morning all, also checking in with the new thread. Crappy weekend with the rain and DD getting cabin fever, plus car ignition is buggered so we've had to organise getting it towed to the garage for some work to be done... all expenses we can ill afford.

BUT, this weekend DD went from just a couple of steps to proper walking and today is finally the scan day, so things are good!

goldene · 30/04/2012 08:49

We had the booking in appointment on Saturday. I remember hating the early appointments last time because you're so excited and they so don't care. However it was pleasant enough. They gave me a DVD which I've yet to watch.

I had food poisoning in my last pregnancy from a chocolate (something in the filling, apparently -- I would have thought it too artificial to support life but apparently not so!). The only time I've ever had food poisoning, no harm to the baby. Now I just ignore the food advice (apart from not eating too much tuna). It's just cultural - every country has different rules about what you can and can't eat. I think there have been under 10 cases of listeria in the past 10 years, most of them have been from salad, so to use that as a reason to not have cheese? No, doesn't make sense to me. So I'm eating what I like. Sometimes I have alcohol but quite rarely - it doesn't appeal. I'm off chocolate too. Butter, on the other hand!

My overwhelming exhaustion is nearly gone! It's so exciting! I've felt like actually doing things besides slumping on the couch! Not anything useful of course - have been making dolly clothes (meanwhile daughter's jammies and my clothes sit cut and unsewn).

Look forward to more great scan news. Ours is Friday.

daisychain76 · 30/04/2012 09:49

Just marking my place too. I want sticky toffee pudding now mmmm!

daisychain76 · 30/04/2012 11:00

Is anyone else finding it a lot harder to work now they are pregnant? I am just so easily distracted at the moment doing random things like looking at highchairs with newborn attachments or finding the meaning of baby names, despite having 10 essays and 25 exam papers to mark this week, a presentation to give next Tuesday and a load of paperwork to file! It is driving me mad but I can't seem to help it.

Doesn't help that its my scan tomorrow and I feel quite nervous about it. No specific reason why I should, but I do anyway.

eversomuch · 30/04/2012 11:01

Hi everyone,

Just had a call from my hospital and the initial results for my CVS came back normal. Yippee!

Extremely, extremely pleased to be adding my smiley face to the scan result list.

This was the latest version I could find, and I think it might need further updating.

WaitingForMe · 30/04/2012 11:25

I'm really struggling with work daisychain. Part of it is exhaustion but I'm also struggling to motivate myself. Got a client pitch in a couple of hours and can't be bothered to look at his website as a starting point for recommendations.

Can't say I'm overly fussed about being social either. DH is taking me on a date tonight and have a party at the weekend but I just want to curl up around my tiny bump and make a nest on the sofa.
