I think we are still on track for our nice boy girl pattern as I know I have a boy in here. jen would have to have a girl though! We certainly do have good taste in names on this thread.
I have been having a few contractions this morning so hoping when I go for a sweep there are signs of dilation or something.:)

ScrambledSmegs · 18/05/2012 10:51

Congratulations musical! Welcome baby Isabelle Thanks.

Hope you get to go home soon, wards aren't much fun especially with tiny babies. Oh, my tip for the tear -have a jug of warm water to hand when you need to wee, helps with the stinging if you pour it over your bits at the same time. Pat dry afterwards, don't wipe! .

scarletfingernail · 18/05/2012 11:14

The last 4 brooking babies have been girls. Scream, then me, then Myth and now Musical. We must be due some boys now, starting with Wants

musicalmrs · 18/05/2012 11:33

Thanks all :-) still on the ward, baby checks have been done but waiting on mine I think.

Biscuits, we liked Abigail too - but a name already in our family sadly! I'm still a little in shock that I have a DD- was so convinced it would be a DS!

Smegs, thanks for the tip - and to you too Jaggy. Haven't had any painkillers yet but will ask about them when the midwife comes along. The pain is fine now except when I have to move! I've heard it's lavender or tea tree drops in a bath that are recommended for stitches- any recommendations/other suggestions? Other than a rubber ring to sit on...!

Wants, hope things get moving for you soon! And Jen too.

ScrambledSmegs · 18/05/2012 11:47

Quick question - I think my dates are wrong. Babies in my family are normally late. I should raise this with the next scan/consultant, shouldn't I?

My due date is 16 Nov, but with my LMP dates I'm sure it's actually 21 Nov. Baby measured small at dating scan hence another reason i think they're wrong. I want the extra 5 days to make sure I get a HB!

pommedechocolat · 18/05/2012 11:49

I have a tip I used after I was cut with dd1 buy its a bit hardcore... I filled a sink with salt and warm water and then wadded a hand towel or flannel up, dipped it in water and then held it to my stitches. I did heal quickly and scar is quite invisible!

Not as nice as the jug of water trick though!

ScrambledSmegs · 18/05/2012 11:51

pomme Shock you're hardcore!

pommedechocolat · 18/05/2012 11:52

smegs - I had the same issue and was able to convince the consultant so was induced at 39 weeks not 38 by scan dates. They should listen to you!

Loving the Abigail love Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 18/05/2012 11:52

Musical, congratulations! Thanks Hurray for baby Isabelle! The post-grad thread awaits for all your baby-related questions, rants and trivia.

Wants3 · 18/05/2012 12:08

Hi all, I had my sweep this morning, v. Uncomfortable but went on to our planned shopping trip. Standing in John Lewis, said to DH ,things are feeling a bit moist, I'm nipping to the loo. Well, blood everywhere, it had leaked through my cream trousers! We had to make a quick getawayBlush I am now sitting at home wearing a maternity pad and black trousers! Hopefully, if things calm down we will try shopping again later.
I was forgetting the run of girls before the last one when I put my earlier comment must be baby brain maybe we will have a couple of boys now!

jenfraggle · 18/05/2012 12:15

How Blush for you Wants but fingers crossed you will be having contractions soon to take your mind off it. Did the MW say how many cm you are?

clickingtock · 18/05/2012 14:41

Wishing Musical all the best in these heady exhausting days. So lovely to have a surprise baby and love her name. I hope you recover well from the stitches. Lavender oil and a hint of Tea Tree in the bath might help?

Wants - wishing you some contractions soon.

Smegs - I had a 6-day discrepancy between my cycle date and scan date. DS was 14 days overdue by scan dates but only 8 by my cycle date. You can try to stick to your guns but they don't seem willing to listen. I wasn't induced because I had a private midwife, although she had warned me that we were getting close to making a decision (so I went for a good dose of reflexology, clary sage oil in burner and strong cups of raspberry tea and the birth was quick to come on after that combo).

Waves to all. How's Far doing btw?

xxx

Wants3 · 18/05/2012 14:43

Only 1cm Jen but she was able to get a good stretch! Lots of tightenings going on but we managed to get back to the shop and get what we went for without further incident! I am hoping to see some definite action by Sunday.
I have an appointment with the midwife next Friday if nothing has happened and we will discuss induction:(

jenfraggle · 18/05/2012 14:48

1cm is more than I was although I'm hoping I'm more now

jenfraggle · 18/05/2012 18:01

Am I the only saddo with no life on here? :(

farfallarocks · 18/05/2012 18:07

hello tock I am here!! All is well, have 16 week midwife appointemnt on Monday, hope she can find the heartbeat or it will make me wibble.
I am feeling far too well to believe I am pregnant at the moment (although my stomach says otherwise, I sometimes look pregnant, sometimes look like I have just eaten a massive cuzza!) Hope all is well with you!

Woohoo musical what a gorgeous name, sorry about the tear, you poor thing, hope you are healing up and perhaps at home now?

wants and jen here is hoping you go in to labour soon :)

I have not seen pop for while? Hope all is well with her.
Have a great weekend brookers.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/05/2012 18:15

Glad you're well Far - look forward I hearing all about the mw appt next week!

Pop (= Fluff now) I think is laptop-less currently? Hope this is the only reason for her AWOLness and it's not that she doesn't love us

And Jen I DEFINITELY tick the box of saddo with no life Grin

TheLittleFriend · 18/05/2012 19:46

Congratulations musical ThanksThanks

Brooking hard that wants & Jen are not kept waiting much longer x

jenfraggle · 18/05/2012 20:16

It will be fine Far, you are on this thread remember? Fluff should be back next week when she gets her new laptop.

Glad you had a good holiday Little

DreamingOfPeace · 18/05/2012 20:40

Yay musical!!! Lovely name and good weight. I thought you were having a DD. You'll love it, they're wonderful (as are my boys too of course). I was told two baths a day with tea tree oil to help after my third degree tear. Another thread I saw said no oils though so now I'm confused. I think it helped me though.

Me, me!

far, hope you hear your baby's hb, its so wonderful

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 18/05/2012 23:11

Congratulations Music! I have been AWOL from MN and I check back and you have popped, how wonderful! Isabelle is a beautiful name :)

Wants3 · 19/05/2012 07:49

Still here! V.uncomfortable night with little sleep, also worrying about DH as he had a bit of a dodgy tummy in the afternoon and was feeling feverish when he went to bed. He wouldn't have been the ideal birthing partner if things had kicked off last night! Baby seems to have wedged himself on one side of my tummy so it feels tight and sore this morning.
Anyway, enough moaning from me! I hope music had a good night of snuggles and feeds without too much pain aNd Jen is having some signs of immenent birth:)

jenfraggle · 19/05/2012 08:37

wants not long for you now. Nothing happening here except a bit more show. Why it can't just all come out at once i don't know.

cakes82 · 19/05/2012 10:56

Congratulations to myth and music

Can I ask a slightly odd question, its kinda more obvious what sort of things I need to buy for baby-clothes, bath stuff, somewhere to sleep etc but what do I need for me and why is something with maternity in the title necessary. For example I keep seeing maternity pads but how do they differ from normal pads? Info and advice welcome. I'm a little ahead of myself as only 20wks but trying to make use of offers.

jenfraggle · 19/05/2012 11:19

All I've got for me Cakes is pyjamas with buttons down the front for feeding and maternity pads. I've bought the big, fat padded ones for straight after to give myself some cushioning and a pack of thin ones for when I feel able to move over to them. I haven't got maternity clothes, my normal ones still fit as being a size 20 I don't do figure hugging clothes :o
