Congratulations to everyone - I think I'm due 5th jan - so excited!! But a bit sad for baby having a birthday so soon after Xmas!

Rachel37 · 07/05/2012 18:56

Thanks AprilMeadow that's a good idea ref the cardigan.... I will wear one tomorrow. :-)

Princessswithapea congratulations, I'm also due around the 3rd January all very exciting.

sharedscitless · 07/05/2012 19:26

Hello ladies. Am due with dc3 on 4th Jan and frankly terrified! Utterly unplanned. And we always said that if we did have another we'd be sure to avoid Christmas, what with dc1's birthday being 29/12 Hmm

AprilMeadow · 07/05/2012 19:56

Sharedscitless, this one was completely unplanned as well...... To be fair so were numbers 3&4!!!! I think every family has a month that is crazy for birthdays. Ours is end March to April as three of my dc's have birthdays and mine is in there as well.

I downloaded the 'what to expect' app on my iPhone and it's telling me that the baby is currently the size of a pea at 5wks. It's quite nice to visualise how big they are.

We are just about used to the idea of having another and have started to tell people. Mainly due to the fact that as this is #5 my stomach muscles are shot and my belly just pops out after a few weeks.

The real task begins as all our kids have 4 letter names and I think I've used all my favourites.. Will be starting a list and then try to narrow it down the closer we get to the 20wk scan (which seems ages away yet, but will be here in the blink of an eye).

Incaminka · 07/05/2012 20:00

Hi
BFP, due 12th January! Am 42, been trying for 10 years, did ivf, ran out of money, and yet... bfp today! Shock Fingers crossed!

CraftyGirly · 07/05/2012 20:11

hi all :) here to sign up, got my BFP today and due 14th Jan 2013! eek very scared!

BuntyCollocks · 07/05/2012 20:12

Congrats and welcome to all the newbies!

I had my first appointment with one to one midwifes today - basically a private midwife available for free on the nhs for anyone living on/near the Wirral. They've taken me even though I'm slightly further south as I expressed an interest! Katy was lovely, very confident having her doing all my care, and even better: my booking in appointment is sorted for 2 weeks today, and my scan date is 21/6, and they're doing the nt, which isn't offered anywhere else here unless you go private for it.

Best bit: apart from my scans, all my appointments will be done at home :) AND the scans/appointments are fitting around us, so no awkward shuffling out of work!

I am feeling rough as a dog, lots of nausea and even vomiting here today, I've barely ate. God knows how I'll explain this at work, but at least it's a good sign baby is well. (and maybe a girl?!)

Incaminka · 07/05/2012 20:13

Hi CraftyGirly
We're due the same day! :-)

CraftyGirly · 07/05/2012 20:25

hi Inca! have you been to GP/Midwife yet? I'm phoning tomorrow, it's my first so dont really know what to expect!

Incaminka · 07/05/2012 20:29

Me too. This will be my first too, although I lost one a couple of years ago at 12 weeks. You don't usually get a scan till ten weeks or so, and the midwife appt also seems a long wait, but if you have a pregnancy test at the doctor's I think it sometimes can push you onto their radar...

Nobhead · 07/05/2012 20:44

Hi all, I'm going to gate crash. Just got a postive test this afternoon and according to due date calculator I will be due around 12th Jan 13. This will be my 2nd.

PricklyPickle · 07/05/2012 21:10

Hello newbies! Congratulations one and all!

April I think you're going to become our resident expert as this is number 5 for you.

Bunty am a bit jealous of the great service you're getting in the Wirral. I haven't even got a date for my booking in appt with the midwife let alone my scan.

Saw the GP on Friday, it was a bit pointless really, all he did was type out a letter to the local hospital and said they'd be in touch. he did, however say that I've got a higher than average chance of having twins as I'm a fraternal twin myself - eek!

Lora1982 · 07/05/2012 21:34

hello girlies :-D How excited and nervous am I?! my EDD is 8th Jan not been docs yet im off on wednesday. Ive never been through this before so Im worrying about every of bit of aching i feel inside.

Have to keep reminding myself the bad things are rare and im just making room for a baby no over reaction required.

Im not entirely sure its really sunk in yet... not til i see it on a screen or start being sick maybe :-D

Lulabel27 · 08/05/2012 11:53

Hi all can I join! I got a very very faint bfp on Friday and it's steadily got stronger since! My lmp was 26/3 but not sure when edd is due to irregular cycles as I only stopped bf in jan as well.

Like tootie and pickle I think, my dd was due jan 2011 but came late on 4/2/2011 so will be just under 2 yr age gap! April - I think I'll need some tips on how to cope!

Looking forward to the journey with you all. X

Lulabel27 · 08/05/2012 12:49

Also was thinking (i'm thinking of nothing else at the moment other than my bfp!) is it too early start a list/spreadsheet for us? Something basic like username/age/edd/existing children? Happy to start it if people want?

Lora1982 · 08/05/2012 14:47

also a guide to what all these acronyms are... I have absolutely no idea what DH and BFP etc stands for... I guessed edd but thats my lot :-D

MrsPear · 08/05/2012 15:36

Hello everyone

Lora the acronyms are here www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

What other threads seem to do is have a stat thread; maybe you can start one? I am too bloody nervous due to my history. I am even bottled making the appointment with doctor today.

Incaminka · 08/05/2012 16:09

Yes, Lora, that sounds like a great idea. Like MrsPear I'm feeling nervous too, one mc, and no other pgs and I'm 42. Feeling scarily periody today, so have actually gone to bed!!!!!

AngelFairy · 08/05/2012 16:16

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday.

Congratulations to all the new BFPs - How very exciting, this thread is growing so fast!

Happy 6 Weeks to all the ladies due 1st January 2013...!!
We're half way through the nausea - Yippee! Grin

Although, today mine has been worse than ever, I'm starting to think my baby doesn't like me Hmm
I can't seem to get enough ready salted french fries and wafer thin ham - Odd. But it helps with the nausea... I might try those bands if it gets any worse.

Good MW service for you Bunty. It's all moving forward for you. Would you like a girl?

April, I think I'll be calling on your birthing tips in about 7mths, but for now, any tips on nausea?

I have my scan this coming Monday (14th) and I can't wait to see what's going on in there. Bless our lentil-sized babies x

((Waves at everyone else))

Lora1982 · 08/05/2012 17:28

Im going doctors tomorrow to get the ball rolling. Not entirely sure what they will want or do but its the start of reality setting in isn't it? :-D

kim222 · 08/05/2012 18:09

Wow Bunty that seems like really good service. My docs asked me to go in and do a test, get the results tomorrow but have done 4 at home so will be beyond gutted if I'm not pregnant! Told my mum yesterday she is so excited bless her!
Anyone else had a really strong taste of metal? Last few days it's all I can taste, yuck!

princesswithapea · 08/05/2012 21:19

I don't seem to have any symptoms except rock hard nipples (which DH is loving!) - I keep wanting to do more tests just to see of I really am and sort of wish I had sickness because then it would feel real.

Lora1982 · 08/05/2012 21:41

Has anyone else given up smoking? as soon a i found out i managed to stop. It must be the extra motivation that made it easier to not want one. ive just had these tiny niquitin mini things

PricklyPickle · 08/05/2012 22:00

Hi Lora yes i gave up smoking the minute i found out too. I went completely cold turkey and strangely I'm finding it ok. I guess its because i know i can't buckle and have one so i've completely put it out of my mind.

No sign of morning sickness still and I'm kind of with princess on almost wanting it as this would all feel more real. I am absolutely exhausted though, I'm off to bed now after just having woken up from my after dinner nap.

Littlemissimpatient · 08/05/2012 22:20

For those with mw appts already are they pretty flexible around work etc, same with scans or do you just get a set date and time? Trying to think how it will work around my work and DHs work and I don't want to tell my work until after 12w scan.
